Serdel, thanks, that's interesting. Can you please tell me, when you do NOT have the HDMI cable connected to your laptop, are you still able to select HDMI audio from the control panel? I realise you won't get any sound, but just wondering if that option only appears when there is a cable connected. It's possible you need the cable connected at your PC and TV.

Then HDMI audio option is available only when hdmi cabel is connected to tv and laptop.

Hey guys...I was reading this thread since I just bought a dv5t online and will give my current dv6500t to the wife! The first thing I want to do is install xp! I did that on my dv6500t too last year using the amazing guide made by mujjuman.

While reading I noticed that hp still didn't have the bioscrypt verisoft access manager for xp available. The only one they have available online for xp is the older sp35640 which is version 2.1.0.844A. I extracted the Verisoft access manager from the swsetup folder that came with my dv6500t (native Vista), and installed it in xp, and it worked fine. It is a much newer version than the one hp has on its website.

If anyone is interested in trying it out, I just uploaded it HERE. After downloading, extract and run ciam.exe. The version is 2.1.2.880.15. Let me know if it works. Also, is the mute button problem finally solved?

so you have to go into control panel and select "nvidia HDMI audio" when you have the HDMI plug connected in order to get audio.
    thanks for the tip

Sid1, I will try your software. Re the mute issue; it's not really an issue. The mute button works fine, it simply doesn't change colour. So functionally it's fine; it's just a cosmetic issue.

It's just working fingerprint software and the IR Remote that needs to work now.

Download this; it installs an XP ene CIR driver. Now some of the remote functions will work. Mute, vol up/down, fast forward, rewind, power off, skip forward, skip back, stop seem to work on both remotes. Play does not. It might simply be a case of editing the inf file to adjust some cir codes or something, if anyone knows anything about this. Perhaps they could be obtained from dv7t info; the remote seems to work on that model. I believe our remotes are the ene0100 type.

But at least it's some step forward.

how are u slipstreaming this? can you just state the steps you used in order to rule out mistakes in slipstreaming?

use this SATA driver: (nevermind. dont use this)

extract the files and use nLite to slipstream one of the inf file. when you choose the inf folder, choose the one that has "ICH9M-E" inside of it

    [EDIT]

actually before you do any of this, what chipset do you have? what processor do you have?

the newer processors have a different chipset and the older processors have a different chipset even if its the same model laptop.

mmm intresting. I used the f6flpy32.zip linked in the first page of this thread, and I selected the ICH9M-E driver, then I followed the instruction of nLite.
I tried also two way. First of all slipstream firstly the sp3 and then the driver, the second time I changed the order of the operation I did, but the result was always the same.

    you are correct.
dont use the file i posted above
    use this one instead
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

extract the contents to a folder called "SATA" on teh desktop.
in nLite, go to the part where it lets you slipstream drivers
in nLite, choose "multiple driver folder" and choose teh "SATA" folder
choose "ICH9M-E/M" or something along those lines

Hi, I've tested HDMI using a friends TV. I currently have the swsetup IDT & swsetup HDMI drivers installed. HDMI appears as an option only when the HDMI cable is plugged in as confirmed by Serdel above.

Serdel, can you please tell me what IDT and HDMI driver you are using? Further, can you please answer this:

When I select HDMI audio, music plays fine for example, in Winamp. When I am NOT playing music however, other sounds like the windows sounds do NOT play, regardless of whether winamp is loaded or not (note the windows sounds continue to play for about 5 secs after you press stop - I guess the audio channel is still in the process of being "closed" at this point). I must be playing music to hear other sound effects. It's like Winamp opens the HDMI audio channel and then all sound can pass through it, otherwise the standard windows (and possibly other) sounds cannot use this source. Windows meda player works in the same fashing. Do you experience this, or can you play windows sounds play all the time?

Seems like the driver is not 100% effective under XP. Hoping you are running a different driver or such that works. Thanks

    Hi!

I would like to get a dv5t with a BLU RAY drive in the future.
Will I be able to use the BD drive when running Win XP? Could someone with that configuration confirm this?

Also, does the drive have region protection and can it be disabled?

    Thanks for the help!
