    Dear Friend,
I found a solution for HP Mobile Protection driver. use the following driver:

    Code:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/154217871/HDDProtection.zip.html
Note : Only use the drivers, do not execute any exe file.

I read some article of honorable friend here, regarding IDT driver. he prepared a simple approach in order to restart a service, every time windows XP restarts, then he explained that you should use IDT from control panel and uncheck power management of IDT driver so abusing sound disappears. I did it successfully, thanks to him. (I don't remember his ID)

    Now, I have a question:
Windows XP accepted the driver of IDT version

    IDT 2007-09-05
    5.10.5607.0

BUT ITS CONTROL PANEL COMPONENT HAVE NOT ENOUGH OPTIONS TO SET SOUND FOR EXAMPLE TO CLASSICAL OR POP OR ROCK, ETC.

I need an IDT SOFTWARE that is compatible with above mentioned driver.

    Can any body help me?

By the way, beside previous ENE CIR driver, I found the following driver for ENE CIR receiver :

    Code:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/154222931/cir_vista_gx720_nb.zip.html
Can any body check it out and compare it with previous driver for ENE CIR and inform us which one is better?

    Regards

The CIR driver will not install full stop - and the file should be RAR not ZIP (good stuff MSI).

I cannot get the HDDProtection to do anything. There is no apparent install, and installing via the inf appears to do nothing. If you have got it working, please provide more instructions.

As far as I know, there is no other IDT software to enable all those options under XP. Use Vista if you want these options.

Guys, I finally got my dv5t today, used Gparted and got rid of the recovery partition and set up my drive into 2 partitions of approx 125gb each. Installed xp as well, now I'm installing all the drivers etc.

This is a total noob question. When I click on the link on step 8 for the nvidia drivers, I have no idea where to find the link to download the driver with the modified inf file. Can anybody please help me out with that step or upload the driver somewhere? I would really appreciate it. Thx in advance!

    Hi
The first red color text is not clear to me! may I ask you to supply more explanation?

But the second. As you know, if you use the vista version of HDD 3D accelerometer driver for XP, you will see the BLUE SCREEN when windows is shutting down or going to standby state. The driver in HDDProtection file solves this problem. windows can go to standby or even shut down with no problem, and device manager (in system devices section) tells you that the driver is working properly. This means that the accelerometer is working in XP.

I finally succeeded getting both xp and vista working with dual boot on hp dv5-1060ee.

then I started installing xp drivers. but the USB ports stopped functioning after installing the "infinst_autol program".

    what is the problem ?

Well after reading this dv5 thread, the dv7 thread, countless hp support threads, creating slipstreamed sp3 and even sp2 disks, messing about with uaa rubbish and downloading for ages I can say one thing. - When you finally do get sound out of that wretched IDT high definition audio CODEC it will sound like **** pretty much defeating the whole effort. I've installed all the other drivers and the audio is the only drawback. If you have got audio working as I did, when you click the windows speaker slider up and down to get the "ding" all you will get is the "ing" or the last part of the ding. Windows sound lags horribly, music sounds fairly appalling if you've got normal audio to compare it to. The method shown in post one using vista swsetup works but the sound was so bad I practically spent a solid day of near nonstop searching and research trying to better it and came up with nothing. I've seen enough 'stop 10' errors to nearly give me a feeling of relief knowing I can return to vista and that shows how bad things have gotten! Yes yes I've done the power management thing to curb the popping but the audio is still rubbish anyway. So listen up all you guys who are tearing your hair out and have been sifting through countless google pages trying to get your dv5 working nicely - you can do it but it but it's going to be in a state that's worse than a functioning vista as far as I'm concerned - because of the sound. Well that's my little rant at 2.16am in the morning here in NZ after a solid day of this.

i agree with Grantman. i feel that if you have to go through ALL this and STILL there are features not working correctly, its not worth it. Vista sucks and it takes lots and lots of resources, i understand that. my 2GB of RAM is virtually eaten up and i constantly have 0MB of free RAM.... but still, a clean install of Vista is better than hp preinstallled

I burnt off my recovery disks before taking on the xp quest and I recon even an hp flavored vista is going to be a relief to return to. Blech, that sounds bad and I'm being pushed into vista unwillingly but to be honest I think I'll learn to appreciate it after what I've been through with xp on my dv5. My previous laptop I fought to get rid of vista and succeeded. HP made it hard but not as hard as the dv5. The difference was my old laptop was a compaq c500 with a celeron M 1.7ghz, 512mb ram with vista home basic rendering it nearly useless. XP practically turned it into a sports car. My dv5 has a 2.26 dual core, 3gb ram and 9600m gt so it can handle vista much better, but still xp is so light and barebone in comparison it would have been nice to get it working to hammer out the best performance.

You can get sound but it is poor quality and not worth having. So success actually means failure.

right, so by perfectly if you try and create the audio "ding" shifting the audio slider up and down, do you get a "ding" or *an "ing"? Because I followed the guidelines and achieved audio and that is the caliber of audio I got.

yes i agree with you again. XP is so light compared to Vista that it runs so much faster. 2GB of RAM is awesome for XP, but it feels like in Vista its just enough.
i remember my older laptop though.. compaq 700z (sucks so bad, i know) with 112MB of RAM... XP made it sooooo slow. but 98se wsnt supported and i liked XP more anyway. once i added a 256MB RAM stick it instantly became so much faster. (unrelated topic i know)

maybe we missed a step or two in installing the drivers correctly....
    cant hurt to try again

I checked some forums and it seems the driver has problems with SP3. This update as well is SP2 only:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...-108286&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3232029

I can't really try it out as I have no dv5, yet, but here's what a German dude suggests:

"Du gehst auf Start-->Ausführen und gibst regedit ein.
Dann öffnet sich die Registrierung und klickst Dich wie folgt durch.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
Such den Eintrag CSDVersion und klicke doppelt drauf.
Ändere den Eintrag von 300 auf 200.
Dann installiere die Datei kb111888xp2.exe, zu finden unter
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...AA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml
Danach kannst Du den Treiber ohne Probleme installieren.
Dann die Änderung in der Registrierung rückgängig machen und neu starten."

    Source: http://forum.power-oldie.com/personal-computer/hd-audio-problem-mit-sp3-t536.0.html

He basically just changed the registry, so he could install the driver under SP3 and changed it right back after.

Like mentioned before, I can't really try it myself - if anybody is going to, I can translate the instructions.

Yes I've tried all that, I've tried the different uaa 'hacks' to fool sp3 into thinking it's sp2. I even tried slipstreaming another whole windows with just sp2 and later installing just the kb888111 update + the 1.9mb windows update driver that was suggested on the dv7 thread. I get sound but it sounds like rubbish.

I have not yet been emailed by them to say the XP version is available yet.

@Roby22 - so you have more tha just Power Management in your IDT control panel app? What drivers are you using and how did you install them?

I can't answer right now. My HP was formatted on Sunday and is in a box waiting for them to collect it and drop off my (3rd) replacement laptop. But I don't recall any issues with the sound. Where do you happen to be in NZ? I'm in Hamilton.

I haven't had many issues with XP. I installed it first time ok, and had all drivers installed in a few hours that same night. That is most of post 1 of this thread. I've since played around with a few driver variations for improvements, but it's mostly been remarkably easy. Not sure why others are having issues with it.

I'm up in northland. Just picked up my dv5-1005tx saturday. Whaaat, 3rd replacement?! That doesn't sound good. I know this thing gets insanely hot which is scary, but care to share what the problems were? I don't know why my sound should be playing up as everything else pretty much went ahead fine. I don't see why my sound should be rubbish unless my hardware is slightly different or something.

Hi guys. First time poster here.

I followed the guide to get XP to work and have nearly every driver i care about successfully installed except audio. I dont have a vista CD (which i believe is where i get original driver from?). I tried installing the driver from HP, but the download wouldn't work. i searched for it on the web and tried installing some various drivers that seemed correct, but they all say something about a hardware problem and dont install.

    Any help guys?

Anything I list in post 1 as being from the swsetup folder can be found from HPs site under the Vista drivers section.

Grantman; mostly it's me being anal about little quality control issues, but IMO these issues shouldn't be there given the price:
laptop 1: poor sound out quality (via headphone jack). Lots on interference on my stereo and headphones. This has NOT changed with any of my other laptops. Part of it is due to a crap AC power supply, which I've fixed by removing the ground pin, part is pure interference, some of it is due to the CPU power states I think. IMO, poor audio shielding. This laptop also had a poor dvd eject button, and the drive had too much play. Most of the time the eject button will not work unless you press very hard in. This is due in part to the button being FLUSH with the drive (what a stupid idea). TSST drive.
laptop 2: dvd drive button was ok (Optirac drive), but not aligned 100% so rubbed against the drive slot. Hdd exteremly loud compared to silent first drive. Same fujitsu drive. It "ticks" every sec or so, which I can hear even when talking on skype etc. Very off putting, it's like having a constant metranome running. HP support tried to convince me it was part of the HDD ProtectStore feature. They clearly have no idea what they're talking about.
laptop 3: faulty inverter to the screen which would cause intermittent flicker. Same loud hdd, keyboard and mouse substantially louder than previous 2 laptops, dvd drive crap like first 1 (TSST again).

In hindsight I should have just kept my original laptop as it was the best of the 3. However, I didn't know the sound issue was present on all the laptops (nothing about it in the review here), and since that was the reason I returned a Dell at the start of the year, I wanted it fixed. I've now realised I have to find my own solutions. Pretty crap when it's classed as an entertainment PC and the sound is so ****. No heat issues so don't worry about that.

OK..DV7T T5800....firewire audio on vista or xp no worky. Just to notify.
    On XP:
OH yeah..thanks for the help..the slipstrem worked..the graphics and chipset works..but the UAA is not proper prep for installing 3rd party firewire audio interface as far as I'm concerned.
