To all those trying to install windows XP on dv5 and are having problems with 0000007b errors, in my case i couldn't even start windows xp setup if i didn't slipstream both the ATI SMbus and the AHCI RAID controller (ahcix86.sys). So maybe that can help if you are still having problems running the windows xp setup but have slipstreamed only the RAID controller.
i own a dv5 1124ca -
I had one unknown device HPQ0004 which turned out to be the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor. It can be installed with the HP mobile data protection software, which on my dv5-1124ca just wont recognize my hard drive in order to protect it. So the software is useless , but the device is installed properly.
My last problem is the IR remote , like most of us. Mine wont register for any buttons at all. i did notice that there where a bunch more devices when vista was installed compared to my xp install. Along with the ENE CIR receiver installed , i had 5 more HID devices , 3 hid compliant devices , 1 hid compliant consumer control device , 1 microsoft ehome infrared transceiver. i had 4 keyboards instead of 1. Microsoft ehome MCIR 109 keyboard , Microsoft ehome MCIR keyboard, microsoft ehome remote control keyboard keys and my standard 101/102-key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 keyboard with HP QLB. and one more System device : Consumer IR devices
Now, i also checked the keyboards device instance path in vista and they were as such :
HID\IRDEVICE&COLO5\2&D6067AB&0&0004
HID\IRDEVICE&COLO6\2&D6067AB&0&0005
HID\IRDEVICE&COLO7\2&D6067AB&0&0006
Now my question is, why isn't windows XP seeing these devices so i can install the drivers and maybe get the remote to work under xp pro.
Overall, im glad to see that i installed every device in xp , but i wish that the following little details were also solved:
The constant orange mute button (even if it works)
hp data protection software: my dv5-1124ca uses Protectsmart in vista, but i only found hp data protection and it says disabled on my hard drive.
IR remote : been trying for hours to no avail. -

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about your laptop difficulties...
What was wrong with those laptops? -
Hi, I have a hp Pavilion Dv5t with specs
HP Pavilion dv5t Entertainment Notebook
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26 GHz)
- 15.4" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
- 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
- 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
- Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
- SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
My System originally had Windows Vista 64bit. So I burned a WinXP Pro 64-bit SP1 disc with SATA driver using nlite. I put in the disc, finished the 1st step of installing. Then after the instructed reboot, my laptop wont boot past HP Screen anymore. It just stays at the HP Screen, pressing F2,F10,F11 dont do anything. I can access the BIOS setup if I unplug the hard drive. But as soon as I plug in the hard drive, it just stops at the HP Screen. Does anyone know what I can do? -
-
This is for wly3298456:
I've never heard of a problem where your harddrive would cause a lockup at the BIOS screen...
What you should do is,
- Take out the harddrive,
- Insert the Recovery DVD,
- Turn off the laptop, insert the harddrive again.
Try and see if you can restore the original OS and get the harddrive working. -
can someone please post what audio drivers they are using and any problems they have with it? and download link if possible

"for example, when i press/hold volume up or down, nothing happens, but when i let go the volume bounces (YEA literally it bounces) up and back down and ends up somewhere random." -
-
it makes a sound when i use the quick launch button to go up and down...but i wouldn't consider that a ding
-
after releasing the slider after dragging you get a "ding" sound from xp. Is your "ding" the full sound or only the end "ing"? If you are not sure, click on the slider as fast as you can and it will give the full "ding" sound which should be same full "ding" you get if you click just once. If it isn't it means the idt power management has clipped off the fist part of the sound. -
no "ding" at all after i finish dragging nothing happens
but trying it right now it keeps bouncing so annoying -
try restarting your computer to see if the quicktouch settles down a bit? Another fix apparently is to shut down your laptop, disconnect power and battery and hold down the power button for a few seconds. Apperently it removes static buildup which can cause the problem.

I had that problem as well so I just uninstalled it.

I see there is a new version of DigialPersona Personal, 4.0 out now. It apparently supports Vista and XP according to their press release. Since DP P 3.01 came with Vista, I'm guessing 4.0 would work on XP with our hardware. Unfortunately, you need to buy it. Has anyone purchased it and can confirm if it works or not?
-
i write to digital inc.
DigitalPersona Personal 4.0 doesnt run under xp!!! -
GRR... I'm almost done. Dual booting with Vista. Have all devices recognized in XP Pro...except for the stupid Audio Device on HD audio bus thing which is definitely the HDMI audio. My regular XP sound works. Frankly, this is not a show stopper, It just bothers me. I backed up my SwSetup to a dvd and when I point xp to search it for the driver it does not find it. I think i've read this whole thread 3 times. Gah!!! please help.
-
the sata driver mentioned in the first post works for windows xp 64-bit too? I cant get it to work. anyone here using xp 64-bit?
-
My model is DV5-1034TX with P7350, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 15.4" screen, hybrid TV tuner etc.
I followed as much as the guides from here as possible and my XP installation is now left with 2 devices with "?".
1. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
2. Unknown device
Also, my "mute" button doesn't toggle when pressed.
Can someone help? Thanks in advance.
Forgot to mention that I am on SP3. -
The mute function will work, however it will stay orange.
-
I looked under my swsetup but there are no folder "hdmi", so not sure what driver to use for the "1. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus". -
Yeah, the mute light is a known bug for Windows XP.
For the sound driver, go into the "drivers" and then "audio" folder of SWSETUP
That should work -
ok.. too bad on the mute light
Will try it tonight when i get home from work but i vaguely remember i installed the IDT driver from this foler.
Any idea what could be the "unknown device"? -
xyzabcxx if you right click the unknown device and select properties it should give you a clue as to what it is. One that seems common is the HPQ004 device which is the HP Accelerometer / HP 3D DriveGuard.

i have hp dv5 1015tx,,,,
ll this guide on page 1 ...work !!!..
plzplzplzplzplz tell me !! -
what i exactly meant to say was.... whatever SATA drivers u ve given.. ll they work for my dv5 1015tx....???
and if not.... plz do me a favor by providing me the correct sata drivers link !! -
on Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919
Is this the ENE-CIR? -
Sorry xyzabcxx I should have explained a bit more thoroughly, you need to look under the 'detail' tab of the properties dialog box and select 'Device Instance Id', which is probably default anyway. You should then have something in the text box below if not try 'Hardware Ids'.
-
Device instance ID
ACPI\ENE0100\4&B310638&0
Hardware ID
*ENE0100
That is what is shown there. -
Ok that's the infrared receiver, if there isn't a driver on this thread maybe you could try this one.

Great.... The ENE-CIR driver installed.
And the HDMI audio also installed
Many thanks especially to mujj and 0.0
What software did you installed for the TV? Want to test the remote controllers. -
Sweet no problem man.
Bigger thanks goes to Joshua Wood as well as all those who contributed to this guide and made it possible -
what exactly u wanted to say about blowing my laptop up..
kindly explain it sir ??? -
The SATA drivers will work. -
DIGITALPERSONA PERSONAL 3.01
what i did....
1) i extracted setup.exe with Universal Extractor so i had one folder with setup.msi
2) i opened setup.msi with Orca software (After Orca is installed, the only important setting to insure is that under Tools/Options/Database the "Copy embedded streams during Save As." is checked!)
3) i changed file setup.msi so:
Property --- PRODUCT SUBJET from 020 to 000 and save!
NOW you can install DigitalPersona 3.01 on xp
BUT doesnt work logon with finger...
someone can help me and want to try more??? -
Thank u ... thank u so much for this beautifully crafted guides and ur suggestions....
i really need one thing....
this "Audio Device on High Defination Audio Bus".... Its comming as an "esclamation mark"... under audio section....
i followed the first guide as well as the 2nd one.. i put my swsetup in the drive (and also i thought it wud be a better idea as to put all the drivers that "roby32" uploaded on rapidshare.... by the name "MY_Drivers !!)
so what happens is.. when the application looks into the directory ... it finds NVidia High Defination Audio Driver.. and install it ... at halfway of installation... there are some nvcohd.dll and "one more.dll" file missing...
i m not able to setup those files or this particular driver.. rest everything is working fine.. even the brightness n all that.. !!
plz help me roby32 unknown00 or mujja.... plzzzz -
and also one thing guys before u start taking about that IDT thing in Control Panel... i don ve any Application icon with IDT in Control panel...
and i ve to say that my audio devices and audio is working perfectly fine. -
no no... its working now.... yippeee...
i pointed it to the Video driver folder in the swsetup directory....
thank u so much guys. -
Don't install QuickTouch. This is only the OSD display. It won't install under XP anyways, and it is really buggy (incase you do find a version that installs). Use the software I suggested in post 1 for a nice OSD instead.
If you have issues with the touch controls, remove QuickLaunch. It doesn't appear to be needed. Note there may be some funny things with the sleep quick launch (Fn-f5), but everything else seemed to work fine for me.
@xyzabcxx: The remote is not fully working. If yours is, please let us know. You can test simply by using media player. The play button doesn't work from memory, along with a few others. If it doesn't work full stop, you have the wrong driver. See post 1 for the best working driver so far. -
Edit: Duplicate post.
Also, if you have or have not the IDT sound control panel app, check post 1 for why. The SWSETUP driver is different from the Windows Update driver. One provides the control panel app (but digital mic issues for me in my limited testing), the other provided full functionality but no control panel app (who cares about that though?)
windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed
