Whoa, where did you hear about the matte screen coming back? That would be awesome.

They said the Y410P would have a matte screen, they lied. I wouldnt trust them until the actual Y410P-ISE comes out.

What i am really wondering is if a 755M ultrabay card will SLI with a 750M, since they are the exact same cards, one is just slightly oc'ed.

I figured something along those lines. It's weird that they have it dated for June 2013 though. If those are the true specs, I noticed its not 900p and it's only 4gb of ram. Also with the 755m card.

I wasnt aware that the 755M models only come with 4GB or ram/768p screen. Honestly, at that point the tiny bit of graphic power given by the 755M is pointless compared to double ram/better screen.

Looks like i wont regret my purchase after all

Also, the site looks SUPER dodgy.

Agreed, very sketchy. I got my y410p a few days ago and after getting rid of all the bloatware my only complaint is the trackpad. I haven't had any issues but it feels very flimsy. I also came from a dell 1525 and I miss having the buttons.

Yep. But after fiddling with the settings, i managed to make it useable + im used to tap-to-click now :)

    Heres my config: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/727430-my-trackpad-settings.html

Also, i kinda hated my 1525 touchpad, that thing overheated after 10 minutes and was a PAIN to use.

    hi y410p users!
Whats the exact weight and height of this laptop? They are 5.5lbs and 0.59'' on lenovo website but someone told me that description is totally wrong.

4.85 pounds without SLI or 5.5 pounds with SLI.

Dimensions are 9.65 inches by 13.5 inches by 0.6-1.25 inches

So, I shouldn't regret purchasing my Y410P like 2-3 days ago right LOL? It should be coming in 7-10 days I believe. Please tell me I shouldn't regret this.

Nope. Even though there is a rumored Y410P-ISE with Nvidia 755M (which is only a 750M with a tiny overclock) coming at the end of August, it only has 4GB of ram and a 768p screen, and will probably cost even more that the Y410P with 750M. Just OC your card slightly if you want the boost.

I spoke to a Lenovo rep yesterday:

Hello, I recently purchased the y410p and I'm wondering when the ultra bay upgrades will be released

It will be available in the month of September

That's good to hear, I've been reading that they were to be released in July and since they were not, customers are doubting that they will be released. Will the ultra bay graphics card be released in September?

    Definitly.
Actually we were expecting in the Mid August only, unfortunately due to delay in manufacturing now we are definitly expecting it at any point of time in Septemebr only

As for me, im in no rush atm to upgrade my 750M, since it does all my tasks. However maybe a year from now, if i wanna get more FPS out of a certain title, ill probably bite the bullet and get SLI :)

    TDP of 16 is a typo, because it's just an OC'd 750.

    1. TDP is probably 36W
    2. Models with the 755M will have 4GB of ram and 1366x768 screens
    3. OC your 750 if you want the same performance (its only 5% better)

Ok just got my y410p 900p, 24gb SSD.

First impressions ( less than 1 hour using it ) :

    1) solid palm rest
    2) no gaps on battery etc as I heard
    3) TONS of bloat wear, I will definitely clean install win 8 this weekend
    4) I cant get used to the screen yet, reading etc. I don't know what s wrong but I don't like it right now that I m typing this message, I ll post later about it.
    5) perfect keyboard
    6) no probs with touchpad, but I ll use my mouse anyway
    7) I see the 24gb ssd on my computer, but expresscache is installed, need to check somehow if its enabled or not

starting to uninstall bloatwear for now cause I cant use it even for a day with all this crap.

overall I like my purchase, but W T F with the screen? I had m11x, I m using 2 desktops on 2 23 LGs monitors and the big one on a Samsung 55ue8000 tv and even on the tv I didn't have any problem READING... I don't know... I ll find out soon.

edit: also its the biggest 14 inch laptop I ve seen, I swear I ve seen 15.6 laptops in that size.

Edit 2: Screen fixed, the resolution was not adjusted properly, somehow.

go to cmd prompt as admin and tpye eccmd.exe -info

Did you get a defect in the monitor? 0_o

If you have a hard time reading, it's because the pixel density is high?

lol i changed resolutions and put back the 1600x900 and everything is fine now... i dont know what happened.

    Hey guys,

First post here. I just recently purchased the Y410P and like it so far. I have a couple issues though. Was reading through the previous posts about the laptop and couldn't find an answer so i'll ask now.

    1) My battery seems to have a drain. I fully charged the laptop, turned it off and unplugged it. When I used it approximately 8 hours later the battery registered 69%. A drain of 31% with the computer sitting completely off. I tried looking around for what might be the cause. I disabled the always on USB and re-installed the Lenovo Energy Management drivers. Last night I fully charged it again and unplugged it. When I turned it on this morning after 8 hours it had drained 11%. Significantly better but I still think it shouldn't drain that much. When I first purchased the laptop I did a fresh re-install of Windows 8 and have been selecting which drivers to re-install.

I was about to start the battery gauge test to see if that would resolve the issue, but then I chickened out after reading about owners using that feature and it totally bricking their computer causing their motherboards to fry and need replacing.

Are there any other drivers that might affect battery life?
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    2) When i unplugged the laptop to move to another room and plugged it back in, the screen would flash to a higher brightness 2 times fairly quickly, and kept doing it every 4 seconds. It was almost like the computer couldn't decide if it was plugged in or using the battery and kept switching power settings. It didn't fix itself so I went to shutdown, upon clicking shutdown it blocked and I had to hold the power button to force a shutdown. Started up fine and the issue resolved itself. I will try and replicate it later today to see if it was a one time thing or something bigger.

Has anyone expierienced issues like this?

Any ideas on the issues would be greatly appreciated.

I know this doesn't really help, but I specifically remember reading a comment about someone able to install both Ubuntu and Linux on the y410p. I've been reading reviews about this thing all over the web though. I think it was somewhere on the Lenovo site forums. I remember him saying he had some problems but was able to get them both running fine eventually.

I may or may not be experiencing the first issue. My powered USB is off, mine drains about 1% an hour, sometimes less, i dont know if it's a problem or if all laptops do this.

As for the second, i have not experienced that.

Hey guys. Id like to add that turbo is finally working for me, and after playing one hour of a Dolphin Emulator, a CPU intensive game (albeigh you can use the 4600HD for the graphics) using only the keyboard, the laptop was warm at most and the heat was not annoying. Heres a screenie of Dolphin and Task Manager on the side:

    dolphin gaming.jpg

For those saying that 40% CPU usage is pathetic, Dolphin can only use 3 cores/threads, so these three were pushed near their limit (3.27ghz as opposed to 2.4ghz stock and 3.4ghz max turbo).I was playing with a resolution of 1366x769 and 2x AA, using the Intel GPU. 60FPS across the board and slowdowns (55-57FPS) only caused due to imperfect emulation, though no slowdown hindereded gameplay. Glad to see Turbo working on this laptop.

There is an option in the Lenovo power settings for battery health, forget the exact wording but one setting will charge the battery to 100%, the other option stops charging early (around 80%) to increase battery lifetime. Make sure it is actually charging to 100% in the first place.

Also try charging it up then pull the battery out of the laptop and see if it still self drains at the same rate, that will tell you if it's a defective battery or if the laptop has a vampire draw.

I usually run my laptop on AC with the battery removed so no idea if mine drains...

Interesting. So for comparisons sake, that review has a 3dMark11 score of P2894 with the 755M.
    My system's scores are:
P2845 with the factory Nvidia driver (basically stock but I had removed some bloatware)

P2919 after updating the Nvidia drivers to 320.49

P3040 with an overclock of +90 MHz GPU core and +100 MHz GPU memory.

So yeah 755M is a tiny upgrade over the 750M.

The laptop I had before this one, also a lenovo, drained at about 1% for every 8 hours. Would be able to charge my computer at night, unplug it, and use it the next day without a noticable difference.

I'll take a look when I get home to see if that option for 80% battery is enabled.

Never even thought about taking the battery out to see if the drain still exists. Another thing to test tonight.

    Update for Canadian customers:

I initially sent my laptop in to warranty service to try and get the bilingual KB swapped for a standard US English one. I got an update from them saying they could not do it because the technician has to follow the default specs whenever they do repairs. Which means they replace bilingual KB with bilingual since it is the default spec for Canada.

So for us Canadian customers thinking about the ideapad, you either have to live with the bilingual KB or get a US address so Lenovo can ship you their US ideapad model with a US keyboard on it.

All in all, this sucks and I am disappointed that I had to refund it.

Ya I would imagine that it does. Just got home to check what % it is at. Left it at 7am this morning, was at 87%, just turned it on at 5pm and am sitting at 70%. So 10 hours a 17% drop. Going to test with battery out and see if at 10pm it has dropped approx half of that.

ok let me ask you an other question, i m mostly use the laptop at home, so i can have it on charging all the time, the best way to do that is by removing the batt completely? or let the battery in and the charger even though it would be 100% charged?

I had trouble with the bigger Y510p switching between integrated and the 750m. I had to tell the nvidia control panel to use the 750 via the settings. You should see a drop down menu that lets you select the app or game you want and tell it what graphics to use. Once I set this to use the 750m only and did a restart, it worked flawlessly.

    1. Use the laptop without the charger till the battery is 60% or lower
    2. Go to Lenovo Power Management
    3. Set the mode to "Optimized battery health"
    4. Set and forget, no need to unplug the battery. The battery will not be charged past 60%, whether the laptop is on or off.
