I'm not even sure anymore what the tracking # is.

At any rate, it says it's "in-transit" under the Milestone. And the tracking # isn't a legit proper tracking number for UPS.

768 or 900P screen? If you got the lower res screen that could be your issue. Try sitting a little further back.

It's a 900p screen. I'm not quite sure if it's anti-glare like on the lenovo site. I might just return it because it hurts my eyes so much while using it,

Hope my 900p screen doesn't look like that and burn out my retina!

I just called Lenovo and the reason for my fail tracking number was because it was sent inside a large shipment (apparently). As a result, since it hasn't split off for delivery yet, I won't be able to track my individual package. Make sense?

Try setting the res to 768p see if that helps. I don't have any problems with my screen, however.

    @ Wushuguy

The screen is bright, but you can always dim it down.

Also try getting f.lux, it helps immensely for looking at the screen IMO.

But uh, where can I find the Optimised Battery Health thing? I can't find it in any menu.

And which of these is safe to remove?

Cyberlink Power2Go, Freeride Gaems, Lenovo Photos, Lenovo PowerDVD10, Lenovo YouCam, Nitro Pro 8, OneKey Recovery

Yep you can remove all of these if you want. Delete the Onekey partition afterwards to reclaim 20GB of space. For the Optimized battery health, open the Lenovo Power management (click the icon in the taskbar) and the option should be there.

So reading back this thread I noticed that the screen is actually glossy and not Anti-glare like the lenovo site says? Is it possible to check what kind of screen I have and if not the anti-glare kind, demand a discount or a refund?

Ugh having pretty bad eyestrain as I type this.

Should I try to get a screen protector and see if that improves my condition or get a refund and see if I have luck with a better screen? Because the colors on this screen are not the best and the eyestrain is wearing me out. Have to look away every 5 minutes while doing something.

What's causing the eyestrain? The brightness, the glare, the resolution or is there actually a problem with the screen? It's hard for me to tell :p

Also, i spent 5 years or so using 1280x800 on a 15' monitor (my old Dell 1525), so shooting down to 1600x900 on a 14 incher was a bit new for me.

It's the general whiteness of the screen and the fact that it reflects a lot of light. I can barely stare at it at high brightness, but then it becomes harder to see the black text when turned lower.

Not sure if calling helped or not, but just thought I should give you guys an update:

Yesterday I received an email stating that my order was delayed up to 30 days... and then an hour later later received another email saying it shipped. It's now in UPS and set to arrive tomorrow. Not gonna complain

Also, if I want to just remove the DVD drive (for weight purposes), can I slide back in the empty ultrabay caddy or should I buy one of those blank HDD caddies off eBay instead? Also, could someone (jobine) send me a link to a ultrabay HDD caddy that's been confirmed to fit on the y410p. Thanks in advance, jobine ;)

Well guys I have some bad news for you. After finally receiving the laptop I unboxed it and got the laptop turned on and everything I dug through the box to discover I did not receive a AC power adapter or power cord in the box. So I called up Lenovo and was told I would be shipped one in 3-5 business days.... I thought that was really stupid since I paid almost $1000 bucks for the laptop and they dropped the ball. I spoke with a supervisor who told me he could not overnight the power adapter and power cord. So I will be returning the laptop and getting a full refund. The customer service was RUDE I will shop elsewhere. I'm really bummed because I was really pumped for this laptop. Hopefully you guys don't get unlucky like me. :(

Well, a 90W-130W adapter from another ideapad/essential will work with the Y410P, AGoff has pretty much confirmed this. Imho i dont see why they ship 130W in the first place, it's overkill :p

i had the same problem when my laptop came, but after testing i found out that it had a resolution problem, try change all the resolution couple of times and then put back the 900p and should be fine... it hurt my eyes at first but after the right resolution worked it was just fine.

Thanks for the heads up jobine, I threw my hat in the ring.

So finally got my eBay drive caddy, threw an old OCZ Vertex 32 GB and enabled ExpressCache. Even that made a huge difference on boot times, something like 7-8 seconds now. Hope I get to review the MyDigitalSSD and go even faster.

Try setting your 802.11n mode to auto instead of 20mhz.

Also, what drivers are you using? 15.x drivers have many problems. Uninstall intel PROset, reboot and use the 14.8 drivers built into the OS.

i would say this laptop is very worth it, the price is unbeatable. no faulty keys or cracks or anything, aside from a small nitpick that the power button symbol appears to be very slightly disoriented. very happy when i got it. i didnt remove the protective plastic thingies just in case i would need to send this in to replace the bilingual keyboard (damn that sucks). no issues with the wifi card so far, had a few disconnects but im pretty sure thats my neighbor's router problem (im stealing their connection because my router is broken atm). i tweaked the elan trackpad and it is actually quite useable. although i wouldnt say it works as well as my previous macbook pro, its ok. the screen was a bit smaller than i expected, there was more space in between the top of the monitor for the webcam than i expected. right now im looking at possibilites to swap the keyboard, but once thats over with, ill install win7 and get going with this baby. 8.5/10

To set the 802.11n mode to auto, open the Device Manager, right click the card, select Properties, Advanced, 802.11n mode, put it to Auto

To get the 14.8 drivers. Uninstall Intel PROset and reboot.

SO I want to install an optical drive with lightscribe, but I've never replaced a notebook ODD before. Can I just buy any old laptop SATA ODD and the bezel will fit?

Edit: found this one that does Blu Ray also. Any reason it wouldn't work?

If you go a few pages back, kirkydaturkey dissasembled his ODD to show you how to take the faceplate off, so yea i think you could pretty much just put any ODD you want.

MSI afterburner. Modded BIOS may be required but i don't have a 100% confirmation on that yet. It's only 5% faster, won't make a huge difference.

I still don't advise buying that model, 400$ premium for a tiny overclock. If it had dual 775s it could be worth the price, but avoid the Y series laptops that aren't on sale on the Lenovo site.

When I look at all the partitions for this laptop, there's like 8 and they're all weird characters so I don't know which ones are safe to delete or whatever, mainly which one is the OneKey one since I removed that piece of software. And once I delete a partition, how do I reallocate that space?

No... that's not what he said at all. You change the resolution to a different one, apply, change it to a different one, apply, (going to lower resolutions or whatever), and then change it back to 1600x900, and click apply. Even though it may currently be on the 1600x900 it may have 'bugged out' for lack of better term, so changing them around and then back could potentially fix your problem. You don't need to keep it on the lower resolutions for more than a matter of seconds.

MSI Afterburner will work fine although I recommend EVGA Precision as they update it more often. No BIOS mods needed, just install and overclock.

I would suggest testing your overclock with 3dmark, it is very picky about artifacts and will crash if you've gone too far.

Basically the same program with a different skin, Nvidia actually provides an SDK to the OEMs to make the software.
Weird thing with EVGA I forgot to mention is they want you to login to download from the official site, but the latest version can be found at various other file hosting sites.

Guess I got misled along with everyone else that ordered from Lenovo Canada instead of Lenovo USA. Got the French Bilingual keyboard. Granted, I can probably get along with it, I'd still rather the US keyboard.

I guess I'll have to return it...

That's what i did. Just posted my results here, 2nd page:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/730114-oc-my-750m-755m.html

Looks like Nvidia's 755m proves to be quite useless, unless of course it manages a 16W TDP (unlikely).

Has anyone tried remapping the keys on the Bilingual keyboard? I'm thinking about remapping the one next to the Left Shift Key to make it a shift and then i won't feel too bad about it

yeah the bilingual thing sucks doesnt it. the little key beside the Lshift is a "\" which is the same as the one thats usually above the enter key but on this laptop its to the left of enter. i've heard that if you remap this key to shift then you get rid of "\" altogether in place for shift, but idk lol
