I used that link above mine to find out my model. I got my y410p yesterday and it's certainly a glossy screen. About as glossy as glossy can be. Here's my part number:

    LGD LP140WD2-TLC1 HD+ G F LED1 NB LCD

    Thanks for the info.

Think I will have to contact Lenovo about this - I mainly use Linux; the only reason I'd use Windows is to play some games, and this is for <4 hours/week. Running a Linux VM will not suit me.

Glossy display, and has the same part number as @adster.

Will contact Lenovo so that I can return this.

    Don't know - I don't have it. I was talking about the display -- part number LGD LP140WD2-TLC1 HD+ G F LED1 NB LCD

I chatted with Lenovo support, and they told me that the glossy screen was a mistake on their part. They are going to replace my laptop with one having an anti-glare screen.

Thinking about doing the same thing, but there some people on slickdeals saying the colors looks washed up and grainy. I would sacrifice keeping the glare if the colors om the anti glare screen are going to be washed up and grainy.

That's pretty much what I decided as well. Worse case, I will switch it for an AUO or Chi-mei panel; luckily these 14" screens are fairly cheap. I took the bezel off earlier and fortunately the panel is pretty easy to get to without having to disassemble the entire notebook.

Not necessarily, they're different brands. Apparently the screens in the Y410p is from LG, AUO and Chei-Mei produces good 14" LCD panels as well.

I just received my Y410p, and it runs TF2, Bioshock (original), and other games great. The only thing is the screen flickers black when I play Bioshock Infinite for a few minutes. I am sure I'm using the discreet GPU. Can anybody confirm this?

For those downgrading to Windows 7 64 bit, here are the drivers you will need:

    NVidia driver: https://mega.co.nz/#!N8ZijayL!A5o4gBn24_nAwxrORkrFWj_m96kq_qNpl8ZIkA6Rqjk
    Realtek Audio driver: https://mega.co.nz/#!JhoVBCzL!AKM7rRr8Kmr5420k0mKBVwCphVxR0PEWwuCwuYPNjG4

After spending a good portion of the day trying to get Windows 7 working 100% with this notebook, I noted the following:

    - In an earlier post, I thought the Intel drivers were causing issues with the GT 750M, but this was incorrect. In order for the system to switch between the integrated graphics and the GT 750M as Lenovo intended, we need to stick with Lenovo's customized GPU driver. If we use drivers directly from nVidia or a custom INF, you will experience random screen flickering as the notebook is sporadically switching between the two GPUs. In addition, you cannot just install the nVidia drivers in attempt to disable the Intel one; by doing so, the notebook will not utilize the GT 750M even if it does show up in the Device Manager and will continue to function like it is running on default VGA drivers.

    - As with the GPU driver, it appears we are better off sticking with the Realtek drivers provided by Lenovo. I originally installed the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and noticed the S/PDIF LED stayed continually lit in the headphone port, and the speakers would make a popping noise when Windows is shutting down or when something is unplugged from the headphone port. These issues went away entirely with the Lenovo provided drivers.

Can anybody tell me whether the mSATA slot of Y410p is an ordinary mSATA or the M.2(NGFF)
    View attachment 97580
the left one of the right one?
And is there enough room for an SSD which is longer than 42mm?
I'm a Chinese student and I'm going to visit the US this summer.
I wanna buy a laptop in US cos it's cheaper than in China.
Anyone provide any information will be appreciated.

So are you saying the flickering black I am experiencing is because the system is switching between integrated graphics and the graphics card? I have not installed any drivers, though, so how can I fix this? Also, I DID experience flickering in TF2 after playing for a while. I think it has something to do with overheating. Thanks.

Alrighty everyone! I've managed to extract ALL the drivers from the laptop, including the installers for both Nvidia and Intel video drivers. Most, if not all, look like they will run on Windows 7 as well. They all clock in at roughly 2.3GB.

I just opened an acct with Mega.co if that's ok for everyone? I'll make a new post with driver download links as well as version numbers. These were taken from the factory-fresh Y410P harddrive in a "Drivers" folder.

Interesting, I had the same result. Customer service said the glossy screen was a manufacturer error.... because of some wacky circumstances I have 2 more coming to me, so I will eventually have 3 (sending 2 back). I suppose I will see which screens look best ? I can post pictures with a comparison when they all get here.

You guys know how some models come with an SSD? I'm wondering if it would be possible to purchase one without the SSD and then add an SSD while keeping the HDD and the optical drive. Is it?

Can someone please explain the wacky partitioning. I would like to shrink down the windows 8 partition and then install windows 7 along side it. Can i delete all of the partitions except for the one containing windows and use a recovery disc to fix the boot? I already backed up the lenovo partition with all of the drivers. Any help would be appreciated :).

To all those wanting windows 7 on the laptop, is there some benefit other than aesthetics and personal preference? Is there a functional difference? I will be getting this laptop this week and first time with windows 8, just curious. Thanks!

I personally believe that windows 8 isn't terrible or that bad. I just prefer a clean install without extra bloat. Windows 8 works good on non-touchscreens but the organized simplicity of windows 7 is just easier on a non-touch pc and windows 8 does have bugs that will hopefully be fixed in windows 8.1. You still have a desktop but the start screen is a tile interface which takes getting used to. You also will have windows 8 apps. It won't be difficult for you using windows 8 for the first time. Some settings have a new interface but its pretty simple.

I also ordered this laptop. However, when I got the email that it shipped, I noticed that the address to which it was shipped, was quite messed up. However, when I go to the actual Order Status page on the site, it seems to have the correct address. I only hope that I'll actually get it.

Are you running the drivers that came with the notebook? The issue I was experiencing was that it was doing this in Windows desktop, but if you are experiencing this in games, I would run HWMonitor in the background to see what your GPU temperatures are capping out at.

Regarding the matte/glossy screen discrepancies, I will contact Lenovo later on today to see if they can switch my system for one with a matte screen or offer me a discount and I will use that to get my own panel.

I am running the drivers that came with the notebook, I have not changed them. I haven't yet seen this happen without running a game, and my GPU temp seems to stay around the high 60s. I have tried turning vsync on and capping the framerate (someone said I was experiencing microstutter) and this has worked but not consistently.

Has anyone got their y410p with the anti-glare screen?

Mine came with a glossy screen. I spoke to the Lenovo rep on Saturday to setup a return+replacement, but they told me I could do it only on Monday (today). I'm chatting with a rep today, and he says this model does not come with anti-glare screens.

Please wait while we connect with you with a Lenovo Chat Representative.
You have been connected to *Mo Z.

*Mo Z: Thank you for choosing Lenovo Sales Chat service. My name is Mo and my Sales Chat rep ID is 2900710505. May I please have your name and physical address?

Me: Hi Mo I'd bought an Ideapad Y410p last week order number xxxxxxxx
The laptop that was shipped to me has a glossy screen, and not an anti-glare screen as I'd ordered
I'd like to return this laptop, and get it replaced by a similar model with an anti-glare screen
I'd spoken to one of your colleagues on Saturday, but they told me that returns couldn't be made until Monday

*Mo Z: Bear with me one moment please Avinash, let me pull this up for you
According to our spec sheet, this system should have a glossy screen

    Me: yeah

*Mo Z: However if you prefer, I can transfer you to our post sales team to set up a return if you like

Me: When I placed the order, it was for a laptop with the anti-glare screen

*Mo Z: This model is not a custom built system, so if we setup a replacement, the replacement will be glossy as well. The part number you are ordering was built with a glossy (HD Glare) screen

Me: Well, when I looked at your website for Y410p models, all of them said they come with an anti-glare screen
in fact, I checked with your representative (Sarah_L) before ordering it

*Mo Z: Yes and once again I do apologize but there is no way I can get you that system with the antiglare screen because it wasn't built with one

Me: so you have the wrong information on your website?
It still says "14.0" HD+ Anti-Glare LED Backlit with integrated camera 1600x900"
this is from IdeaPad Y410p High-Performance 14" Multimedia Laptop from Lenovo | Lenovo (US) for the model 59369921

*Mo Z: And it appears that information is not correct
It is an HD glare screen and not the Antiglare as it suggests
I am waiting on a response from our product team. Naturally this will not be something that will be resolved immediately. I can contact you once I hear back from then if you like. But according to our master file, it says the system comes with a 14.0 HD PLUS LED GLARE(FLAT) screen, which is commonly a glossy screen display

You need to push back on that. The website explicitly shows the 900p screen is supposed to be anti-glare. They need to either ship out the correct system to you or offer you a discount, whichever you prefer. If they refuse to cooperate, ask for a full refund and be done with it. I ran into a similar issue with them a couple of years back with advertising a specification incorrectly, and unfortunately it looks like nothing has changed. I will be starting up a chat session with them shortly as well and see what they offer.

Best of all possible worlds here.

At this point I would NOT trust Lenovo to send me a replacement with a matte screen.

Its awesome you get to KEEP the on you have until the replacement arrives.

$50 says they will send you yet another one with a glossy screen.

For their sake, let's hope not, because they will be receiving both Y410p's in the return box. I just don't have the time to deal with cross shipping every two to three days.

Not sure, I already received the new order number but it doesn't have the replacement's serial number on it yet, so hopefully I can confirm by this evening. If this new one is matte, I will post some side-to-side comparison pictures for everyone before the sending the first one back. It should be here this Wednesday.

When you get them can you check if one of them looks grainy and washed out? I am set to get mine today and I'm am debating whether I should keep the glossy screen or complain and get the Matte screen. I read on slickdeals that the matte screen looks washed out and grainy.

I sure will. So there were some that were able to get a Y410p with a matte screen? I looked throughout this thread and didn't see anyone reporting theirs were matte, and I'm beginning to lose confidence in Lenovo at an alarming rate...

A user by the name of mrjeffreyxp posted in the link below that a chat rep verified he did receive the matte screen and he said it looks washed out and grainy. If thats the case I would rather stick with the slightly glossy screen, but thats me.

Trying to decide if I should do this... I was lied to twice, first, was told the screen was Matte, second I was told the M.2 slot was an mSATA.

I don't know what screens you guys are getting, but here is my result when I asked about the glossy vs matte issue. I probably come off as an ***, just not happy that I was misinformed to so much.
My screen in question: View attachment 97691

Anthony G: You have been connected to Anthony G.
Anthony G: Hello, and thank you for using Lenovo Chat Service. My name is Anthony. How may I assist you today?
Me: Hi Anthony, I ordered a Y410p last week and received it a few days ago. I started looking at it and realized a few of the things I asked the sales associate about ended up being incorrect.
    Anthony G: Like what, exactly?
Me: My order number is DELETED. I asked the associate if it Y410p came with a matte screen, he said yes, it did not, it is glossy
Me: I asked if I could get Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 he said he would put that in after the order, he did not
Me: I also asked if the SSD slot was mSATA he said it was, but unfortunately it is M.2
Anthony G: Alright. How can I assist you with your order?
Me: I am a bit confused, the Y410p is advertised with an "anti-glare" screen, mine is glossy. I can understand the mistakes on the Windows 7 vs 8. I also understand that the M.2 vs mSATA is something that may have just been a mistake as the Y400 had mSATA. But as for the screen, is this laptop being shipped with a glossy or was that a mistake?
Anthony G: I'm afraid that without actually being there to see it, I can't say for sure if your screen is the correct one or not.
Me: Ok, can you tell me if the Y410p has a matte screen?
Anthony G: I do show that all our Y410p models come with anti-glare screens however.
Anthony G: I don't see any mention of them being matte, just anti-glare.
Me: I gather that anti-glare means, it doesn't reflect like a mirror. But I can read the keys from the keyboard off the screen if they are lit.
Me: I can send you a picture of what I am talking about if it helps
Anthony G: I think I've found the answer. Our screens aren't matte, they just use an anti-glare coating to keep the glare down to a minimum by filtering the ambient light. You'll see some reflections, but its designed to make the screen easier to read.
Me: Roger, so there is not a Y410p with a matte screen?
Anthony G: It doesn't look like it. Our matte panels are mostly sold on our business machines, like the T series laptops.
Me: Roger ok, well that answers my questions Thanks for your time Anthony

I currently have a thinkpad, and knew I wouldn't be getting a similar screen with the y410p. Didn't expect the glossy screen though - almost as bad as a macbook.

Does anyone have the y410p with the anti-glare screen? Please upload a picture so that we can check when we get our replacements. Thanks.
