18 days, estimate spot on. I live in a rather isolated area.

Jobine, your undervolting sounds wonderful, but what do you think the performance loss would be on an extremely CPU bound game like Guild Wars 2?

Hey I stumbled onto this thread a while ago when researching about the y410p and was wondering is there a definite on whether the GT750M4 sli is coming out for it at all
-

Hey guys check it, there's hope yet for y410p SLI. Read these instruction notes for the GT 750m (Secondary) bios reflash, directly from lenovo's website!

Awsome!!!!!!! this means they are including support which means that m5 cards would also be compatible personally I haven't got my y410p yet but i'll probably do it round December. Hopefully they'll have m4 cards by then.

Hello Everyone,
I am experiencing a problem with the "Delete" key; it is simply unresponsive (Ctrl + Alt + Delete is not working). I am using the laptop for 3 months or so; the problem seems to arise after updating to Windows 8.1.
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem (might be a hardware issue). I'm using Windows 8.1.
Thanks -

has anyone figured it out how to toggle Bluetooth and wifi independently and in an easy way? Something like a widged on android would be perfect.
I only use the Airline mode on and off but this does not even always works well. Often times airline mode is switched off but wifi is still disabled and I have to right-click the network button and use "fix the problem" wizard to get wifi turned back on. -
After much tweaking i have determined to stick with the 4702MQ as my reference CPU
10W less power consumption, lower heat thanks to undervolting, yet all the goodness of 3.2ghz Quad-Core -
-
And on a separate note after OC my gt755m to about 10% I no longer have issues with Fps drops near fire in bf4 and I get a steady 60+ Fps @ 720p. It seems no matter what I do I can't get steady Fps higher than 55 at 900p.Blackjack3d and Jobine like this. -

Go to the Bios, in the "power" options, then in the advanced cpu. Set the MSR lock to "unlocked". This allows you to poke with the TDP. However, you will need to get your non-turbo to 2.2ghz if you plan on replicating the 4702.
To adjust the flex ratio, go to "advanced" in the Bios, then go to the overclock section, enable overclocking and set the flex (max turbo non multi) to 22 (stock is 24).
You need the modded bios for this and i am not responsible for any damage caused. -
But not all chips are made equal -
Is this "modded bios" the default bios with settings changed or a completely different one?
-
It's a very advanced BIOS with just about every imaginable setting unlocked and all whitelisting removed. The only thing is that if you touch the wrong settings in the modded BIOS you can brick your system. -

Ok just received my y410p!
Just have a couple of problems though.
1. The colors look really wash out! Any ideas on how to fix this?
2. How do I monitor the GPU and the CPU temperatures? -
2. Try speedfan -

I was able to make my screen more "vibrant" (not exactly sure of the word to use) by going into the intel graphics control panel and tweaking some settings there. Below are the settings that I've used, but its mostly personal preference.
Display->Color
Brightness:0
Contrast:0
Gamma:0.9
And in the advanced tab:
Saturation: 17 <-- this makes the colors pop out more.
Also, in the intel power options, there is some "display power saving technology" under battery that does something with the screen brightness on battery. I have mine turned off since I'm perfectly capable of turning down the brightness by myself.
I use hwmonitor and gpu-z to monitor temps, though I should probably give speedfan a spin.

Alright after playing around with the y410p some more.
Has anyone noticed that the laptop creaks when you pick it up? It is just little creaks, but it does concern me on the build quality. The hinges seemed a bit weak too and they creak too.
Anyone here worry too? -
Yeah, it's just poor build quality. You pay for the hardware, but consumer-grade always have worse build quality than business-grade. The Thinkpads are well put together, but aren't nearly as powerful as the Y-series. I think the hinges are fine, but the creak in the middle of the lid while closed is annoying.

Thinkpads (except the new ones) use physical latches while Ideapads use magnetic latches.

I'm playing with XTU this very moment.
Stock bios, all numbers/measurements are taken/set via Intel XTU.
Stock settings on the cpu stress test saw the cpu hit 91*c and sit there for several seconds before the clocks dropped from 3.2GHz to 2.4GHz, where the temp then sat in the mid 80's.
-80mv vCore,-70mV cache, -70mV iGPU saw temps drop to a max of 87*c with clocks staying at 3.2GHz during the XTU cpu stress test
-99mV vCore, -70mV cache, -70mV iGPU saw 3.2GHz and max of 86*c during 2 back to back stress tests. Going to test -110mV vCore once this second (admittedly short) stress test wraps up.
-110mV vCore, -80mV vCore, -70mV iGPU seems to have made no difference. System maintained 3.2GHz the entire duration of the 15 minute XTU CPU stress test, and temps maxxed out at 86*c.
I've not messed with the turbo multipliers at all. My next step will be monitoring temps while playing Borderlands 2. I was seeing temps in the low 90's across multiple cores at stock settings. -
Y410p crashed during BL2 at -110 vCore and -80 cache. I bumped them back to -100mV and -70mV. Played 30 or so minutes of BL2, and recorded a high temp of 85* on the CPU. Fan was much quieter!
-
Run the XTU stress test for at least 1 hour, I found some crashes didn't show until 30 or 40 mins into the test.

I've given up cleaning my laptop
gets dirty too quickly.
I made a post a while back about a "clicking problem" near the top of the laptop. Not sure if its the same problem you described, but the solution was just to remove the battery and press firmly where the sound was coming from until I heard something snap into place. http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/721331-lenovo-ideapad-y410p-owners-information-thread-45.html#post9283143
