Hmm, seems there are issues with 8.1 and the synaptics pad.
Am using the ELAN one myself so i can't really comment. -
But i would just go pure W7 if i were you. -
3) Where is the SSD located if it came with the laptop? -

For the 72W/H battery, would you be able to verify the part number? I tried the number in the pictures, and nothing comes up.
The Hardware Maintenance manual lists 5 available batteries, but the Lenovo Website does not even list the 410P in the battery finder.

Hi guys,
I just bought my 410p (ssd version). I just wanted to know what programs you guys would recommend for defragmenting my laptop. Is Defraggler good?. Also, is CCleaner as good as everyone says it is? Does it speed up a computer significantly?
Thanks -
Jobine,
Could you explain:
3)Drain/Charge the battery to 60%, then Optimized battery health, thus it wont charge over 60%, essentially minimizing battery wear -

So I just got my y410p 59392484 Today.
First thing I did was
-Removed the HDD and installed it onto the DVD bary (removed DVD drive also)
-Installed SSD drive internally
-back up the Lenovo Drive (with the drivers) and installed windows 7 (no more windows 8)
And now I'm reinstalling drivers that are not automatically picked up by windows
One of the issues I ran into was not being able to install the touchpad drivers. As shown below from the screenshot
I can use the touchpad but on some websites when I want to scroll down I can slide my finger along the right edge of the touch pad to scroll the window down.
So when I tried to install the drivers I got the above message. Any ideas?
Also what does Fn+F9 do? And what drivers do I need to install to get that Fn working again? -
None of these battery numbers come up when searching Lenovo.com
L11S6R01
121500070
11S121500070Z00039P65B
Neither the Y410P or Y490 are listed in the Lenovo battery finder.
What the hell is the Lenovo part number for the Sanyo 72w/h battery?
I believe Jobine had a pointer to a battery in this thread in the past, but I think that was a 58 amp hour battery, and not a 72w/h. -

To get Fn keys to work you need to install Lenovo energy management. -

I just verified the OC19901 battery part number is for the 62wh version, and not the 72wh version:
milliamper-hour to watt-hour calculation
The energy E(Wh) in watt-hours is equal to the electric charge Q(mAh) in milliampere-hour times the voltage V(V) in volts (V) divided by 1000:
E(Wh) = Q(mAh) × V(V) / 1000
So watt-hour is equal to milliamp-hour times volts divided by 1000:
watt-hours = milliampere-hours × volts / 1000
or
Wh = mAh × V / 1000
Example
Find the energy in watt-hours when the electric charge is 300 milliampere-hour and the voltage is 5 volts.
The energy E is equal to 300 milliamp-hour times 5 volts divided by 1000:
E = 300mAh × 5V / 1000 = 1.5Wh
so 58 x 10.8 / 1000 = 62Wh.
Still trying to find the Lenovo part number for the 72wh battery. -

What do you guys think of the temps i've attached? It seems like they aren't as high as they were. This is after ~1 hour of BF4 with the GPU at +135 core/+209 memory. Also is there a way to overclock the GPU before the game starts? If I don't wait until BF4 starts up, Afterburner doesn't recognize my clocks right.

Review - Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p
Dec 11 2013 - Lenovo's IdeaPad Y410p takes much of the same design elements from the past Y400/Y500 laptops and instead focuses in on upgrading the internals. It features an aluminum deck and lid that offer it a nice premium quality feel while also given it resistance to scratching and smudges. This is a traditional class of laptop so it is much thicker than most new laptops at 1.3-inches thick and a hefty 5.5 pounds weight which seems a bit heavy for a 14-inch laptop.
Powering the Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p is the Intel Core i7-4700MQ quad core processor. This is the latest Haswell based processor that offers a greater level of efficiency and a minor performance boost over the previous Ivy Bridge based processors. It should provide more than enough performance for those looking to do some serious computing work such as desktop video work or gaming. Lenovo matches up the processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory that should provide it with a smooth overall experience with Windows and its programs.
For the configuration that I'm looking at, Lenovo has decided to included both a traditional hard drive and a small solid state drive. The one terabyte hard drive provides the system with a large amount of storage space for applications, data and media files. Meanwhile, the 24GB solid state drive is used as a cache for the hard drive to improve the boot and loading speed of frequently used programs. Boot times are improved at roughly fifteen seconds but still not as quick as a dedicated solid state drive. If you do need to add more storage to the system, there is a single USB 3.0 port on the front left hand side of the system. This is a bit disappointing as most systems are featuring two to three of the ports now. There is still a dual layer DVD burner for playback and recording of CD or DVD media that is built into a swappable bay. Those that don't need the drive can opt to purchase optional storage or even secondary graphics processor units.
The display for the IdeaPad Y410P is a bit smaller at 14-inches compared to most other traditional laptops that opt for the larger 15.6-inch display. While this makes the system smaller, Lenovo has also elected to use a lower resolution 1600x900 panel. This means it does not have as much detail as the larger IdeaPad Y510p and will likely be the deciding factor between which of the two models your will want to purchase. Overall it is a very nice panel that offers very good color and contrast not to mention a high level of brightness which is useful for situations where they may be a lot of glare. Powering the graphics is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M graphics processor. This is a good mid-range graphics processor and works nicely with the display panel resolution. It can run many games at the full native resolution of the display bit some will need to have detail levels turned down to keep up smooth frame rates.
Lenovo uses the same keyboard design that they have used on the previous IdeaPad Y series laptops. It features an isolated layout design that features a red backlight. The only downside here is that the smaller size means that there is no numeric keypad and some of the right hand keys have been reduced in size. Overall, it has a very nice feel thanks to the sturdy deck and concave keys that should help it be very accurate and comfortable to use. The trackpad is a nice large size that worked well with both single and multitouch gestures.
For the battery, Lenovo has elected to use a standard 48WHr battery that has been typical of most traditional laptops in this size range for some time. Lenovo claims that this can ran up to five hours but does not specify under what conditions. In video playback testing, the laptop was able to run for three and three quarter hours before going into standby mode. Of course if the system is going to be used for demanding tasks like gaming, it will certainly have a much shorter running time. Sadly, this puts the battery life of the IdeaPad Y410p behind many other laptops even others designed specifically for gaming. It certainly is a far cry from the over eight hours that the Apple MacBook Pro 15 with Retina Display is able to achieve with its battery that is twice the capacity rating.
List pricing for the IdeaPad Y410p as configured is $1299 but it often can be found for around $1000 with special offers. This makes it more affordable than many of its competitors. For 14-inch laptops, the primary competitor is the Alienware 14. Much of the base features such as the processor and graphics means are the same so they have roughly the same level of performance. The Alienware gets a bit more graphics from a higher resolution display and longer running times for a larger battery. On the other hand, the Lenovo is a bit smaller and lighter and also features larger storage capacity.
Everything in bold is incorrect. Corrections:
- Laptop weight is 5.1 pounds, 5.5 with SLI ultrabay (not included)
- New models are equipped with larger 72w/h battery, giving 5-6 hour runtime.
- DDR3L memory
- This is an 800$ laptop
- Y410p's 72w/h battery is larger than the Alienware's 69w/h -

If you're thinking of updating to the newer drivers though, keep in mind that my dolby v4 theater got replaced with dolby digital plus (No idea how it happened) and doesn't have the equalizer or any options.kirkydaturkey likes this. -
berrykerry789 said: ↑After fiddling with my laptop for a bit since I too have the weird crackly sound (only at certain piano tones), I determined that both of my speakers have it, though the right one seems to be a bit worse. I assume it has something to do with drivers, since I don't remember having it with previous realtek drivers. I would roll back to the lenovo drivers, but the newer generic realtek drivers give much better bass+sound apart from the crackling issue (which like you said, isn't that big of a deal).

Not sure if it'll actually fix any of your problems, but Razer Surround is currently free on their website until the end of december. It's an alternative to try at least
