I thought the Y410p now comes preinstalled with windows 8.1 on their Lenovo configuration? Or did you get that y410p back in summer?

-
I see, so how would I know if it's Elan or Synaptics if I were to buy another one?
-
Check the device manager, or just go to mouse settings. I personally am using the ELAN pad, and it's been working out of the box (June model) and i love it.

Jason, good advice. I tested the performance with the Samsung magician software, and the 24GB M.2 SSD is a much poorer performer than the Samsung 500GB SSD, especially in write throughput. It was about half as fast in reads (301MB/s for the M.2 versus 545MB/s for the Samsung) Writes for the M.2 were 65MB/s sequential, where the Samsung was 527MB/slee480 and kirkydaturkey like this.

I just clean installed windows 8.1 Pro over the stock 8.1 OEM version from Lenovo - I know to update the display (both Intel and Nvidia) drivers after the new OS install but what are the other key drivers that usually go missing and are not picked up by Windows 8.1's initial install process? It is sometimes difficult to tell (bluetooth) vs. easy to tell (trackpad drivers)...anyone have experience with a clean install and the arduous process of re-installing drivers? Model number 59399853 of the IdeaPad Y410p Laptop - e.g. w/ the SSD cache, 775M, 900p & Intel Wireless-N 7260. I've looked at the list from Lenovo Support for the 410/510 drivers but it is a rough (and outdated) guide at best...any help is appreciated.

Does anyone try it ? -

i install the one for windows 8.1, then i restart the laptop but it still saying the same at MotioninJoy game pad. Maybe the Bluetooth of this model is not compatible with MotioninJoy.

Open the windows 8 metro settings (not the control panel) and make sure bluetooth is enabled.

Is bluetooth running in services.msc?

Hi All,
Recently picked up the Y410P and am concerned about my N-7260 wireless card. My understanding of the N standard is that I should see 5ghz wireless networks. My wireless N card not only cannot see my 5ghz network but it does not even show up as an option what I look in card properties in the device manager. Can someone offer any guidance here; I am running the 16.6.0.8 driver and my 5 year old laptop has no problem connecting or seeing my 5ghz network. For reference I did remove the Pro Set Tools from my computer to see if that helped....nothing.
As another aside, I wrongly assumed that this card was AC standard, so this is even a bigger let down (my fault though). Assume that one would still have to hack the bios to get the AC card to work? Thanks.

7260 AC and 7260-N are different cards, however for some reason if you have a 7260-N under Linux it works in AC mode
-
Interestingly when I updated my driver via Intel - I used the auto detect feature and it said I had the AC card. I've seem some posts on here that mention it might be the same but is purposely gimped - seems like it might be accurate.
Any ideas why 5ghz does not show up though? I am lost with this one...
Happy New Year all. -
hey guys, i am new here and lets just say i have decent, at most, knowledge about computers. so after i installed windows 8.1 (a month or 2 back) i have been having issues with my webcam. it dosent work at all. it keeps flickering on and off. the message "to get started, connect a camera" keeps flickering on and off. i remember when i had freshly installed windows 8.1, the camera would work for like 4 seconds and would turn off displaying the message "to get started, connect a camera" but would come back on. this would happen continuously.
thanks -
I just learned that i need to use visual basic for one of my CS courses.....

Hi, is it possible for the succesor of the lenovo y410p to be available in singapore before the start of april? Hope someone can help me on this.
-
Well, by april the Y410p will most likely be succeeded by a new model with 8xxM series GPUs.
-
Yeh, but i am unsure of when it might be available in Singapore because it would seem that we are slower in getting new models.
-
Finaly i got my y410p.
First think that i found is very slow WIFI connection.
I got the model with 7260 wifi module, connection to router says 130Mb, but file copy over wifi is 400kb max.
On my Latitude 6410 im getting several MB per second.
For now im runnig stock W8.1 -
this may sound stupid but should the cooling pads fans blow into the laptop or suck air from it?
-
Some Tech Noob Notebook Consultant
Most should have the air pushing to the laptop.
-
berrykerry789 Notebook Consultant
I think the air flow for the y410p is through the bottom and out of the side.
-
Does anyone know what that aluminum foil on the hard drive bracket is for?
-
i also think like that. i have Notepal U2 Plus and the fan i set directly under the vent holes..
-
I had the exact same problem initially with Windows 8.1 but for some reason it fixed itself one day. Until that time I never found a fix. Maybe it fixed on an update that happened when I restarted but I hardly check which updates are being installed. Give it a couple weeks and maybe an update will fix it. No idea why it didn't work at first but that is a common problem with 8.1.
-
I just looked into the intel 5th gen processers and the 8xxM series GPUs. It would seem that neither of them would be released on Q1 from my information. Thanks for the help, ill be getting the Lenovo Y410P
-
5th gen Intel won't be released till Q4, however 8xx will be released around feb-march.
-
And it will be a straight-up rebadge.

Well that's just dissapointing.
So maxwell is not coming out in 2014? -
Anyone know if the lenovo y410p keyboards will be in better suplly and cheaper? I kind of hope more parts for the y410p will be out. Like the back panel and such.
-
Y400 keyboards are compatible with Y410p.

There are 4 different version of the 7260 (stupidest marketing ever).
Single band N + BT (what you apparently have) Intel® Wireless-N 7260 Plus Bluetooth*
Dual band N Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260
Dual band N + BT Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 Plus Bluetooth*
Dual band AC + BT Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Plus Bluetooth*
So you most likely have the single band version, thus it does not support 5 GHz. Sorry
-
It is but in second half/end of the year.
-
I guess that makes the Y410p/Y510p relevant for a little longer.
-
What advantages do the single-band 7260 have over the 2230?
-
Those parts are expensive!! If something happens would u recommend just buying a new comp?
-
If this is true, then it is nothing short of crazy. How can my 5 year old laptop support 5G when my new one does not. Lenovo has a 30 day return policy? This sucker will be going back as I just cannot fathom why a modern laptop would not support the 5ghz channel. Thanks for confirming I was not crazy...
-
Well if anything goes wrong, thats what warranties are for. And if that fails, yeah, get a new comp. You can always find something nice and cheap on ebay for 100$ if you need something mission-critical.
Still, need some reasoning behind those single band 7260's.
Buy a new WiFi? You can get a Wireless-N for 10$ on Amazon or an 7260AC for 30$. -
They will not be in the whitelist that Lenovo has. I did some more searching and many ppl have complained about this on the Lenovo forums. Apparently one can purchase an AC card that is technically supported by Lenovo but you'll have to send your laptop back in order to get the bios changed. At least that is what I read - see the link below. I need to contact lenovo to verify this info and would consider sending it back if I can get this card....

Ok guys so i've downloaded most of my games, the witcher 2 fluctuates a lot, but is somewhat still playable, like 45-60fps on high settings, CDPROKEKT RED did a job well done with this game, making low fps playable! So New Vegas an Oblivion have stuttering issues, so I can't judge the,, then Borderlands 2, the game froze on me 2 times and with 2 restarts of the laptop it's working fine so far... Except sometimes when I reload my gun the game stops, the goes, the stops, then is back to normal, and it also drops the fps sometimes, It's at 60fps limit with vsync on, gonna limit it to 50 and see what happens, tomorrow I'll try Max Payne3! If that doesn't experience slowdowns then we could confirm that the slowdowns are the devs fault for the MOST part.
-
If the 7260 network card in the lenovo y410p is not the dual band one as i thought it was, should i still pick it over the centrino 2230?
-
Ill be sending in my laptop for heat issues (99C CPU in games but with cooling pad 95C). I have upgraded the RAM should I remove it and put back the old stuff before sending it in? If I leave it in is my warranty still valid?
-
Put all the original stuff back in. It's not really the warranty that's an issue. It's the fact that they might take your parts and send it back with the OEM stock config.
Cheers, -
Just did a fresh install of Windows 7. Installed the OS to the 24GB SSD, then moved the C:/Users off to D:/Users on the HDD, then symlinked. Now i get a perfect mix of true SSD-like startup performance and HDD like capacity without having to deal with the ever-annoying expresscache.
-
Functionally, nothing. Feature set is the same.
Intel claims the 7260 line of cards have "dramatically lower power consumption than the previous generation" but I have not seen that quantified anywhere. -
Panzer has both cards, he could test this for us (stream a movie over wifi see how long the battery lasts)
-
Thats gonna get full fast with windows updates and crap. on windows 8 the c:/windows alone is 21.7gigs on my machine. How do you plan on keeping it trimmed down?
