Done it several times. now im at the same clocks speed even while charging. my gpu and cpu are both about 60-70 degrees/ no overheating or trottling. now i cant even get 20fps on ftb minecraft lol. 2 days ago when i tested i had 40 even on my incredibly laggy world.
-
1 Check your Optimus settings.
2 Update/rollback drivers
3 Try another game, minecraft is not a very optimized game
4 Set your MSI afterburner settings to default -
1. How do i check it? i need help on that
2. I am on 334.67 Beta all these time. Shouldn't be an issue.
3. I just tried Bioshock Infinite. Same thing.
4. I didn't overclock with MSI afterburner since i can already run bioshock on 90+fps with high presets on 720p.
Also, ive increased the undervolt of my cpu from -80mv to -100mv. Haven't done much stress testing but it should be fine for my usage.
Edit: i uninstalled msi afterburner and changed settings back into optimized battery health and once it reached 60% battery, my gpu as -intended. Now im getting 40+ fps again.kirkydaturkey likes this. -
Glad it somehow worked, to check your Optimus settings, head to the Nvidia Control Panel, and go to 3D settings.
-
Glad you figured it out with the battery settings. Switching between battery power settings have caused this exact bug a couple times for me.hailgod likes this.

Good to know that im not the only one. Oh well, ill just not touch the setting ever again.

yep, It's happened to me as well. Switching back and forth between power settings usually fixes it.
-
Nope. Never experienced that issue. Could be a sign your screen is heading south. It shouldn't be a problem to replace if it completely fails. You can get parts fairly cheap, and use the link to the Y410P Youtube teardown to replace it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q838odn2lI

Wrong link.... Try here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmVYvJhlhL8
the video is very good, but the guy doing the voice recording sounds like cross between Stephen Hawking and Robbie the Robot. -
guys
is there any external GPU (GT750) card in the market right now for the y410p , a website or any place on earth? -
i think u can find one on a china website(Taobao). I dont trust them though. I really hope lenovo malaysia or singapore to stock gt755m4 soon.
-
Trust me guys, SLI is not worth the hassle, read the Y510p thread, nearly every single issue is SLI related. I don't see how a single 755M delivers inadequate performance anyways, especially considering this laptop does not have 1080p.
-
i agree. however, the sli could be useful for people who wants to use their y410ps to render videos.
-
Use your CPU for that. Video editing is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. Also Adobe's rendering engine does not support SLI, if you care.
-
speaking of rendering, i have a couple of Shadowplay clips of Battlefield 4 and they look good in quality
I use sony vegas pro 11 for rendering but they look so bad on Youtube !
here's an example : Super Jump (Battlefield 4) - YouTube
also, GPU rendering doesn't work on Vegas 11 pro
it causes an error -
Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite sure the screen is starting to fail, but if it is, I'll have it taken care of under warranty by Lenovo.

Does anyone know if 410p supports gigabit ethernet? i can only get up to 100Mbps internet speed when my limit should be at 200.
-
That's a problem on your end, then, the Y410p has gigabit ethernet.
-
yep, ive checked. My router only supports up to 100Mbps. Time for a new one.

Hi, i recently bought Crysis 3 and im havving some issue. Im not able to force the game to use Nvidia. I do have power plugged in, im able to use Nvidia (I checked different program and GPU goes to 90%) but when i start game, the GPU is 0. I do have Optimus turned off, I even have Crysis in program list to use Nvidia, but it still uses the Intel GPU.
Did anyone experience this behavior? -
NV control Panel --> 3D settings --"> Program Settings --> Find Crysis from the drop-down menu --> Set it to use the Nvidia GPU.
-
I did it, that was the first think that i did
-
Force it by right clicking "use nvidia high performance gpu". Thats what i had to do to get my minecraft running on nvidia card. Not even defaulting it works.
-
right clicking on exe file?
-
Right click the file (or the shortcut), then select "Run with Graphics Processor" and pick the obvious.hailgod likes this.

Found these on a chinese website if anyone is interested, this basically denotes the heated areas while running FurMark, temps vary on model to model and on load you put on the system, but this gives a general good idea of the warm spots:
Chinese translation using good translate (warning: bad english ahead!):
Also, using MobileMark, a battery life of 5.6 hours of "productivity software" was achieved with the 62w/h battery. Thus, runtimes of around 6 hours for the 72w/h and 4hours for the 48w/h should be expected. -
Anyone know how to get rid of the ad that pops up when the computer goes idle? It's gotten really annoying.
-
Its a screensaver. Right click on desktop, click personalize and click on screen saver. Select None. I use classic shell to make my win 8 look like 7 so i dont know if its any different for you.
-
unfortunately it still plays with intel one.
-
what program are you using to check?
-
GPU-z and EVGA precision.
When i run other GPU intensive program like Mari, usage goes to 90% and clock goes to 1000Mhz (dont know exact number) in both programs
but with Crysis 3, usage is 0, clock is around 200Mhz, but GPU usage of intel GPU is based on GPU-z 90% -
Try repairing or reinstalling your game through steam or origin.

After a few days with my new Y410p, removing crapware and updating, I've run into a seemingly common problem. The system stalls with some frequency, I can move the mouse but the system otherwise freezes. If I can get task manager running, it indicates 100% HD usage, even when basically nothing is running. Eventually I get control back, but often after 5-10 minutes. Sometimes the commands I've entered (mouse clicks or key commands) will run when the system comes back.
Googling around suggests it could be the Intel Rapid Storage software, or something else. Anyone else both experienced and solved this issue? I've got the 1T HD + 24G SSD config. TIA. -
Hello,
Glad I found this thread - it seems incredibly helpful. I'm running Windows 7 x64 Pro SP1, and recently I've found that I cannot adjust my brightness. It's stuck where it is. I noticed yesterday while I was on battery that the brightness seemed to be dynamically adjusting itself somehow, yet I haven't been able to find any brightness setting anywhere, software or BIOS.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or even better, has anyone solved it?
Thanks.

Make sure the Nvidia Drivers and Lenovo Energy Management are installed in order to toggle brightness. Even if you don't plan on gaming and you use the Intel 4600HD 24/7, it is crucial to install Nvidia drivers to be able to toggle the brightness and even optimus settings.
To disable dynamic brightness adjustment (the laptop as an ambient light sensor in the camera), head to the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel (make sure you have the Intel 4600 HD graphics drivers installed), then choose Power, then click On Battery, then disable Automatic Display brightness.
Update Intel Rapid Storage, and also check your task manager, see which processes eat up the hard drive. Most of the time, it is caused by programs that auto-update. -
I found another seller listing the Nvidia GT755M4 as well via Facebook.
According to this guy's listing (Ctrl+F for "GT755M"), it's on backorder, but IDK how up to date that is since on 1/26 the FB page said it was back in stock.
I asked and was quoted RM 828, or approx. $248.99 USD (according to Google). Not sure as to reputation; if anyone's braver than I and wants to give it a shot, let me know how it goes. -
Alright, I did what you mentioned in the Intel settings, but I still cannot manually adjust brightness. I have latest drivers for both GPUs as well as Lenovo Energy Management v8.0.2.3 (I had v7 as Lenovo offered but installed this version to get rid of the annoying "CPU @ 100%" popup).
Am I missing something? -
Hello all,
My friend has a new Lenovo y410p with the 24 gb SSD + 1 tb HDD. This is a replacement one; the first one she received failed within a week, with constant crashing, and when booting up, Windows kept checking the hdd for errors and ended up being stuck in a reboot loop. When we ran HDTune Pro on it, we found errors in both the SSD and the HDD, so we notified Lenovo. Now the same problem is occurring again, with her apps crashing, and HDTune Pro once again reporting errors in the SSD. She has Windows 8.1 and has finished running Windows Update. I've told her to update Intel Rapid Storage, but have any other users had this issue? I find it odd that Lenovo would ship two defective laptops. Also, will downgrading to Windows 7 potentially solve these issues?
EDIT: She said updating Intel Rapid Storage didn't help -
V8 cannot adjust brightness. You will need to use V7. While there is no way to disable the popups, i have found a more suitable workaround.
Uninstall V8, Install V7, then type 'msconfig", head to "Startup", uncheck both boxes related to Lenovo Energy Management and reboot. Now you will be able to adjust brightness without annoying CPU popups.
First of all, it is incredibly UNWISE to return a laptop because of SOFTWARE issues. You are wasting your time and your money.
Do a clean install on your system instead. -
My reasoning is I can't tell if it's bad storage media or if it's software. That's why I ran what I consider to be the most useful disk checker utility there. Also, when Windows itself is complaining about the hard drive during the boot sequence, how would that be a software issue?
EDIT: Not to sound confrontational. It's just why waste time doing a clean install when there's a faulty piece of hardware. I would rather confirm that the hardware is in order before wiping her system and starting from scratch, especially since she's got it setup the way she likes it right now. IF it's a hardware problem, a clean install won't do too much good. Secondly, I doubt Lenovo expects all its customers to do a clean install when they receive the laptop. The product they sold should work as is, with all the software that comes originally on it. Starting from scratch and doing a clean install is good practice, but not everyone has the time/know how/whatever to do so. -
On another note, I have a couple devices w/out drivers that I cannot identify:
Unknown device (Hardware Ids: "root\LenovoVhid")
Bluetooth Peripheral Device (Hardware Ids:
"BTHENUM\{00001200-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_VID&00021532_PID&0039"
"BTHENUM\{00001200-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&0002")
Any guesses? -
Either your Camera or a power management chip that requires Lenovo energy Management installed.
-
driver for - Microsoft Community
Dispositivo Bluetooth Driver Download for XP,VISTA,WIN7/64bits - Sony Corporation VPCCW1S1E
Seems to be some sort of Bluetooth SMS device. Have you connected your phone to your laptop via bluetooth? -
That or it's your bluetooth adapter.
-
I did all this, but I still cannot adjust the brightness. After installing v7 and before setting the startup options, when trying to adjust the brightness, I saw a brightness indicator that would move between full (ie. 10/10) and -1 (ie. 9/10) without actually adjusting the brightness.
Any other ideas? I'm at a complete loss... It worked in the past....
-
Yeah.. Call Lenovo support first. That's why they pay all those folks to be there. If they cannot help, then ask here.
-
If I need SLI in the future, i may consider the one you suggested. I live in singapore and travelling to malaysia doesn't take too long.

Ok, so appaently what might cause stuttering is the Realtek HD Audio Driver.... is this true? Because I'm fed up with that random freeze then back to normal in some games, noticeably in Rust.

It is unlikely that two brand new laptops (well, one brand new and another refurbished) would have exactly the same problem from factory. There is a possibility that whatever software you added conflicts with the default install. Unfortunately most manufacturers include a LOT of garbage preinstalled, including Lenovo. Doing a clean install ensures you're working with a clean slate.
In an ideal world it obviously shouldn't be needed, however given you're on the second machine already, you may as well give it a try. Surely you wasted more time returning and waiting for a replacement.
