Thats odd, what country are you from? I am from Canada and found it on the canadian store.
EDIT: Just looked from every spanish locale and i can only find the Y400. Looks like you're right. Hmm. Try calling Lenovo, order it by phone (from the US line) and ask for a spanish keyboard. That might work.

The strangest thing happened today. I woke my computer up for the first time today, and MS Defender popped up and said that it had been automatically activated because the McAfee that came with the laptop couldn't be started. It's GONE, completely gone. I can't even find the directory anymore. "McAfee" returns 0 results when searching the C:\ drive. It's still on the Lenovo partition.

hey you all im newbie here ... i want to ask something ... why my y410p ... when playing games such as metro last light , crysis 3 ... my cpu temp rise to 80c ++ ... is this normal ? i already use cooler master cooling pad
-
hey first post on here but i read through the entire forum and felt like i had to join.
Someone Somewhere on this thread posted the same problem and it was resolved as a power option. Sorry I cannot find it for you as there are 36 pages lol. but that is it... a power option.
one thing to note... maybe someone makes a full post of what we know... compile everything about y410p... make it sticky and send it to the top. THANKS! -
I'm looking for a computer that will be both portable(in order to take it to my college classes), powerful enough to play new games running with at least moderate graphics, and at an affordable price range($1000 or less). While this does satisfy the price, I'm not sure about the other two criteria. Would I be better off getting this computer or the Y510?
Thanks -
What are your guys' boot times? And with what hard drive?
-
-
why i am asking Because its depends on the fans blowing correctly to the vents and Laptop elevated angle. all coolingpads doesn't fit for all laptops

Hello everyone. I was wondering what your general thoughts were on the y410p. I had a y510p but returned it because of defects and aside from that I need something a tad bit more portable. I currently have a T430, but was wondering how the y410p might fare in replacing it. The specs are much better, and it opens the door for some gaming for me. Also, I was wondering how good the screen quality is. I read through the entire thread but was not able to find any real definitive answers. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. I have been endlessly struggling with which laptop to get. The T430 I have now is an i7, 4GB Ram, Samsung 840 Pro SSD with Nvidia NVS5400m 1GB, 1600x900 but really is a crappy screen for such an expensive laptop, although I got it from Lenovo for $500.

@ Kenstang
As far as the 410 vs 510 i dont think there is much difference in portability, the 410 is still quite heavy at 5.4-5.6 lbs. Is your 430 a first generation processor(3+yr)? in that case i think you'll notice a bit of difference in computing power.
In general i am quite disappointed in the load times with random programs, but hopefully that will improve with more usage and caching with the ssd. After 3-4 full battery power cycles of charge/discharge which is suppose to break in and condition the battery, yet i'm still only getting 3.25 hours from the battery with light usage under the integrated graphics mode.
Does anyone know how to turn off the 1 minute dimming feature? i've tried the Intel graphic settings, the 'pc settings' in windows 8 mode, the regular power options, the lenovo energy management settings, turned off adaptive brightness and i still cant get it to work and its driving me crazy.
Edit: found the answer.. it was the screen saver set at 1 minute with a blank screen.. -

So would you guys recommend the y410p or look elsewhere?

Yeah i own one. And if thats all you plan on doing with it, then i guess its a good buy.
Heres things that i can state about my Y410p:
- Build quality is above-average for what is advertised as a cheap gaming laptop, but its nowhere near thinkpad level
- The Alienware 14' with the same specs is $280 more expensive.
- Battery life is about 5 hours with Optimus for doing word processing/web browsing/youtube/light stuff
- The single 750m will run BF3 @ Ultra Settings 768p, should be fine for GW2
- Buy the 900p version, so much better than 768p
- Caching SSD gives a HUGE performace boost, on mine, i have a 8 second boot time
- You can play light games (like Minecraft) on the iGPU, will produce less heat
- The high-end Y410p comes with a blu-ray drive (mine doesnt)
- The SSD format is NGFF, not Msata. However, NGFF is WAY faster than Msata (equal to PCIe)
- One of the best typing keyboards ever, standard on all Lenovos
- Trackpad is horrendous. If you disable multi-touch gestures it becomes bearable, but its still a crappy touchpad.
- If the Nvidia GPU is on, it will blow lots of hot air towards the SIDE vent, so if youre right handed, this may bother you if youre using a mouse. Also, if you have SLI, well, haha
- The bottom of the laptop is relatively cool, despite the large-looking vent
- Palm rests stay cool, keyboard buttons can get a little warm
- Despite this, its a rather quiet laptop, and the fan isnt that noisy when its on full load.
- The interior is prone to fingerprints, the outside is not
- Weight: 4.5pounds, but feels lighter. Lightest gaming laptop ive seen, weighs less than your average Inspiron/XPS.
- Its one of the rare Haswell PC'sEnjoy rubbing your new tech into everyone's face while it lasts
- Some of the best laptop speakers ive seen in my life
- YES IT'S WORTH USD $820 (buy the model with 900p + SSD)
- Power brick is big, but not that heavy
- Does not come with windows 8 reinstall media, and the drivers are on the hard drive, be sure to back those up
- Comes with standard Windows 8 insteads of Windows 8 pro
- Has UEFI/Secure boot enabled by default
- The advertised "always on usb" is disabled by default (for battery life)
- VT-x is disabled by default (for battery life)
- Comes with a decent share of bloatware, but a little-to-no nagware (except McAfee)
- Screen is GLOSSY
- Very good viewing angles for a TN panel, you could almost say its an IPS
- Expect minor problems if you downgrade to Windows 7
- You can always replace the ultrabay later on, and upgrade the ram to 16gb.
The pros outweigh the cons, mostly. -
-
2. Unibutton touchpad, i guess im not a fan of those
3. Unlike the laptop, which feels solid, the trackpad feels flimsy
4. Fortunately, it does not get warm like some other trackpads (*cough*Dell*cough*Apple*cough*)
I guess its just a pet peeve, but so far no one really seemed to enjoy the trackpad.
Am i satisfied? 90%. Mainly because all the other features (and price) outweigh the mediocre trackpad. -
Before you pull the plug, try reading some review about the Y Series, and if you cant find a y410p review, try reading some older Y400 reviews. However, battery life and screen resolutions were improved in the y410p compared to the y400. Also keep in mind not every reviewer reviewed a model with a SSD.
Personally, i got my Y410p to replace my 5 year old Inspiron 1525, which weighed 6 pounds and had a Celeron processor. Im using my laptop to run some mid-to-light games, but mostly for schoolwork and media production. This laptop is a pleasure to type on, and with a mouse, i can get all my media/gaming done. -
Hey jobine, did you install the latest track pad driver from the lenovo website? Also, is your trackpad the elan or synaptics? Someone said you can disable the bottom portion of the trackpad, where the buttons would be, and it will work more like a traditional touch pad since the bottom won't register movement but you can use it to click like buttons.
-
2. My trackpad works, im just not a fan of it. I miss having physical buttons since i can click these alot faster. -
Anyone put there OS on the msata / m.2 drive yet ?
-
question for you guys that have had this laptop for a few days+, how is the battery life overall? I'm referring to wifi on, no gaming, using powerpoint/excel/SQL/development tools. I'm looking for a laptop that can play games when plugged in but also need to be able to stay mobile for 5-6 hrs+ w/o access to power when needed.

I wish.. MBA/MBP hardware are very nice. I just can't seem to get used to OS X - believe me, I have tried. I have a 2012 MBA that are now serving as the occasional vacation/browsing laptop. To be frank, Excel/SQL works so much better in windows..

Anyone know how to access the trackpad gesture option?
-
I am considering getting in on the y410p deal, but I have a few questions for those that have one.
I will be doing a good amount of video editing with Adobe Premiere, currently I am using a 15" retina MBP with the 1GB 650m. The exporting process is pretty slow. What can I expect from the 2GB 750m?
And the battery life doesn't sound too bad, the rMBPs battery life isn't very good and the thing is always super hot. -
I have had mine now for a few days and have only one problem. Only the 'W' key is a bit squeaky, which I am sure is just my machine. My trackpad works great, despite what others have said about it. I got the 7XXp screen which is good enough for me. It is a HUGE upgrade from my other laptop that I had used before. And for gaming, so far all I've done is Minecraft which for me gets 120fps average with all the settings on the highest. I believe there is an fps thing somewhere that controls how high it goes because on low settings it does the same 120fps. Other than my 'W' key which I'm sure will become unsqueaky yet, I have absolutely no complaints at all.

Hi,
Do you have to press FN + F2 to rename file or folder in Y410p or just press F2 like the other common laptop? -
-
-
Can anyone give some examples of how this laptop runs some of the latest games like Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider?
Also I am considering getting in on the y410p deal, but I have a few questions for those that have one.

Does the laptop come with recovery/install disks?
If not, how can I create a ghost image of the laptop? -
Does anyone else notice a strange problem with their trackpads? Sometimes, when I click the trackpad, the cursor jumps back to its original spot (after I've moved it) and this will repeat a few times as I try to click the link/button. I have a Synaptics trackpad with the latest Synaptics drivers from the manufacturer's website installed (not Lenovo's). Increasing the SmartSense slider (to near Max) and disabling the tap to click feature didn't help either.

I think I'm going to go for the 59369921 sku (1600x900 screen, no SSD). I have an SSD I can swap in. I was looking at more "ultrabook" style laptops but I don't really use my laptop away from the wall often enough to justify passing up on this deal. Good speakers + a good display + a great processor and decent graphics card for $829 is a no brainer.

All models come with a 2.4 unless you buy the discontinued dual-core i5 Y400.
You might have gotten an accidental overclock, as mine doesnt run that hot. -

hello please someone with the ideapad y series, what is better buy the laptop from representative with id chat or no rep ? if i buy from rep id he can shipp my product fast ?

Before I pull the trigger, does Lenovo sell the expansion bay devices yet? I may want the Blu-ray drive, but I'm not sure that I want to shell out $300 more for it.
-
I expect to receive my laptop next week.
First thing I want to do is, if possible, do a clean install to get rid off all the bloatware.
Could someone explain me please how can I do this if Im not receiving the Windows 8 disks? -

Also, free shipping is advertised on the website, but it's a little slow (took me 18 days).
