    Hi!
I recently bought a Legion 7 with 10750H and 2080 S-MQ and have a few questions. Can you please advise:
    1) I was able to unlock the underwolting per the instructions above + set it up via trottlestop. But the settings reset randomly. Do I understand correctly that the next step is to put trottlestop on autorun?
    2) Should I additionally overclock the video card by +100-200 Mhz in terms of frequencies and memory? I have seen reviews where this was recommended.
    3) Is there any way to fix the sagging touchscreen?
    4) mikolaj612, Is it possible to unlock G-sync on my model? I have an AUO048E display at 240Hz. G-sync is listed on the PSREF.

    Display
    15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 500nits Anti-glare, 240Hz, 100% sRGB, HDR400, G-Sync, Dolby Vision, DC dimmer

    5) Is it possible to change the RGB backlight mode that is there at startup? Through Corsair's utility, the color changes after Windows has booted. But when going to sleep or rebooting, it is always rdb disco beginning. The only way to avoid this is to set 1 of 5 backlight presets via FN+space, but any backlight change returns to default.

Thank you for helping and unlock g-sync!
Tesitng on Pendulum demo, it seems that the unsertificate G-sync range is about 35-240 Hz. Below 35 Hz tearing appear.

One month in, and my 2020 Legion 5 has beaten all of my preconceived expectations. I can only guess just how much better the Legion 5 2021 will be. If Lenovo can keep the product to the $1k mark, they will have a champion.

    Hi guys

Can someone tell me what the difference in performance will be between 7i 2070 MaxQ and 7i 2070Super MaxQ ?

On the network I saw 2070 MaxQ 105W (disabled Optimus and enabled dynamic boost) tests which was faster than 2070 115W. How it all relates to the full 2070 Super

That cooling system is as run of the mill as you get, nothing beastly about it at all.

Add another 5-8% (maybe 10% at best) and you will get 2070 Super performance.

Yeah agreed i had mines for almost 6 months now and it handles everything like a champ plus the price was too good especially for a AMD machine. I kinda wanted the RTX 2060 version but i couldnt wait 2 to 3 months for it. Im not sure what the Legion 5 Pro with the RTX 3070 is going cost, Im thinking it going be around $1600+.

Beastly compared to last year's model which already does a great job in cooling.

    Hi there guys!
I actually just upgraded the Display in my Lenovo Legion 5 82B1 to the BOE NV156FHM-NY5 aswell!

There are Legion 7 Models (e.g. Legion C7) with this display which are capable of Dolby Vision and GSYNC.
Unfortunately im not able to get Gsync to work. Maybe @mikolaj612 knows a thing or 2 to get this working?

Also the HDR Option is not available in Windows even though the display can handle HDR. I found a little workaround for that tho:
In Nvidia Control Panel set to 10Bit. Then use MPC-BE Mediaplayer with madVR and LAV-Filters to enable HDR passthrough to the display --> This lets me watch movies or links from online-streams in HDR and it works like a charm (even Dolby Vision Content).

But everything that relies on Windows HDR like Netflix or Games doesnt work - does anybody have an idea what to do here?

Oh my GOD! I just randomly found why HDR was not working.
There is a game called Valorant which i have installed - it uses a VERY AGGRESSIVE anticheat system.

Vanguard (the anticheat) freaking blocks some system drivers responsible for HDR to work on this display. As soon as i uninstall Vanguard - HDR starts working after restart. When i reinstall it again HDR stops working.

For HDR to work you need to disable Hybrid mode too :)
As for GSYNC - use PopOS with NV drivers preinstalled to check if there is a switch for unverified GSYNC.

A very reputable swedish site reported that Lenovo confirmed to them that the 3080 will have 150W + 15W with Dynamic Boost 2.0.

This can of course not be taken as 100% fact, but Inet is usually right about their stuff.

I think that the site i was thinking of but i didnt post it because i wasnt sure the info was correct and yeah its 100% fact now. Lenovo confirmed it yesterday on their livestream that the Legion 7 will use the Max-P RTX 3080.

I'm REALLY interested in its coldfront 3.0 vapour chamber cooling solution.

Huge vapour chamber extending all the way to the side vents

Can Lenovo release such a well equipped laptop near the $1k price point? If they did, they could upend the market.

I would honestly be happy if they ended up selling the 3080 model in the $2000-2400 price range. I'm somewhat tempted to get it if they managed to sell it in that price range.

It also appears that Lenovo is using liquid metal on this years Legion 7, so this is definitely going to be one of the more interesting laptops coming out this year.

Wow I am definitely now excited for this one. I was initially content with my 7i as it's got the 2080S Max-Q which seems to perform about the same as a 95W RTX 3070. The difference between that and a 3080 full 150-165W?! That's amazing. Plus that beefy cooling system with liquid metal? This is going to be the standard.
Just note, when they list the weight, it's with the standard heat pipes and not the beefy vapour chamber.

im not sure i see this as a good thing, i think i like the idea of them having to beef up the cooling setup so it can still manage just fine on paste. the reason i think of it like this is if the laptop runs hot, what does an end user do to improve cooling? add more lm? :D

As far as I know, there is nothing better than LM (for common end user at least), so if it runs hot with LM, standard grease doesn't stand a chance. I think Lenovo is well aware of this.

Thats precisely the problem @dglt was referring to. He's making the argument that they are using a "cheat" of sorts by using LM instead of making a better cooling system.

Think of it this way, if they design a heatsink with a temperature target of 90C with paste on the cpu, an end user will still have the capability of lowering temps a good 10-20C with liquid metal . But if they are already using liquid metal, they can get away with a weaker cooling system and theres nothing an end user can do to further improve thermals.

Thats just a hypothetical though. Lenovo has indeed beefed up the cooling system this generation and if it runs the cpu at 70-80 C all will be fine. BUT if it still runs the cpu in the high 80s-90s we will have a problem on our hands.

the cooling design does appear to be improved, the cooling on last gen was good on paste and excellent with lm. hopefully the new design just runs cool out of the box, i haven't seen much info on the thermals yet

    We gotta wait and see

I can see why they're using LM for the Legion 7 because they're using the 150W RTX 3080 in a 15" Chassis. Idk any other OEMs are doing that. So many new gaming laptops that is hard to keep track of

Hello, I have the legion 5 and I am interested in putting that screen, but I have several questions that perhaps you can answer me:
-By having a wide range of colors, everything is oversaturated in srgb? Is there a way to fix it?
-How about the hdr? I hesitate between that screen and the NV156FHM-N4J with HDR400.
I hope you can answer me, thank you very much.

No, LM is only used on the cpu. They are using a larger vapour chamber to handle the 150w+ 3080M

    Should I get this laptop (Legion 5 4800H & 1660 Ti) from Amazon when it goes down to 910$ or get a 2nd hand Alienware 15 R3 (7700HQ & 1070) at about 200$ lower?

Singapore’s price is inclusive of GST and shippng charges which is shipped from China to Singapore.
yes... i couldn't agree more that consumers in Singapore were often screwed by Lenovo’s pricing policy.
i recently keep bugging the online CSO that the list price of their 5000series APUs IdeaPads in Singapore and Malaysia comes to a big difference after factoring in X-rates even when both sides were configured with same hardware specs. y'all know what? one of the CSO blurt it out that consumers in this little island cannot compare in shipping quantity when the other market is higher on order production volumes! I'M FRKIN STUNNED!!!

    Great find!.

The temps are a bit concerning though hitting over 100C. Im still curious of the temps when gaming

Its going to be cheaper here in the USA so probably just under $2k.

The RTX 3060 version will probably be around the $1000-1300 range which has the same performance as a RTX 2070 Super.
