Finally here! This power adapter is slim but wide lol

Build quality is so much better than the msi gs65, and the color of this laptop is on par with the space gray MacBook. The mouse keys are alittle stiff but not in anyway a bad thing. Downloading updates and games. I quickly checked for backlight bleed and the panel is a lot better than my Asus strix scar 2 which has a good amount of bleeding with yellow hued spots in the corners. Screen brightness is pretty solid as well.

Thanks for letting us know! Glad you got a good panel too. Can't wait to see how it performs

Well after the first couple of updates it’s just booting into a blank screen with nothing on it, just my pointer
Any suggestions on what I should do now? -
As for "first couple of updates", what updates? Windows update or drivers through Lenovo? Boot into safe mode and evaluate from there. General troubleshooting and driver installs follow. -
I was able to reset my PC and now I’m going straight for the windows updates first. For whatever reason windows explorer wasn’t working after the Lenovo updates -
I'm dying for that battery info -
All windows updates installed, and bios updated. Downloading games as we speak. I can’t seem to find the software fan control anymore thou

I’m immediately re-installing windows. I don’t care for the bloatware Or how they have partitioned the drive and I don’t care about their use of Optane. I want normalcy lol.

Hinges on your reviews! I've already started the return for my 17".
I'll be comparing comparing the justification between the $3500 Alienware Area-51m. Is the 9700k+2080 going to be a $2000+ step up?!

Looking forward to your review! -
I’ve been playing far cry and AC odyssey on high setting with a under volt of -130 and max fans and this thing flys! My temps are 75 avg on the CPU and 67 avg on the GPU. CPU running 3.9 and GPU is 1700+ Mhz

Running userbenchmark I'm getting 106% on the RTX 2070 Max-Q with a slight overclock. Same overclock on my Alienware after everything was finally set up. Must be a 90W card because this thing is awesome. Will be comparing it in games and seeing what I get shortly. As it stands, pretty happy with the synthetics so far.

Little bit of light bleed on the left side and top corner but only noticeable on a black screen and does not colour shift so I'm happy! Honestly that one guys review about the sound quality? Wrong. Keyboard? Never got stuck nor is it terrible. Thermals? At 90 while benchmarking so I'm sure it will be higher but the back raised it will be fine.

After a few games I'm seeing some interesting results. Apex Legends, same settings, 20 fps more than my 1070. Anthem is a whopping 30 fps more on the same settings and running cooler (77 degrees CPU, 65 GPU) this with a stable +100 core, +300 mem overclock in MSI Afterburner. I'm really impressed with this laptop!

Don't forget the Corsair iCUE RGB software! It's a bit over the top but one of the most robust RBG solutions i've seen on a laptop.

It already comes preloaded and yes it certainly does look amazing! There are so many things you can do with it it is quite impressive.

Wow this is a really good laptop for me.
Lenovo has something here. I’m very happy with this and I have an Aero 15 x9 and a Zephyrus S with a 2080mq in house for testing and I love them both for their own reasons, but...
I’ll say this in the review and I’ll say it now. Was Lenovo afraid to dominate the competition? All they had to do was 2 things.
Add a 90whr battery (give or take 10whr) clearly remove the 2.5”
Add another m.2

There's CLEARLY room for a clear fitment of a larger battery by removing the 2.5" section. Because of that, we should be able to swap to this battery if/when available.
That could help add another 30-45 minutes unplugged on average. Works for me!raz8020 likes this. -

What panel do you guys get?

Are you able to switch optimus and gsync in either bios or software? Because I see that Y740 17inch has this function listed on their Chinese product page. It says you can switch between optimus and gsync.

Congrats guys!
I was a little skeptical about the RTX 2060 but I’m impressed, I was pretty dead set about getting at least a RTX 2070MQ but now I’m second guessing myself. -
Just wanted to talk about this bad news for myself, if anyone else experiences this in the future well shame.
Y740 15" 2070 with 256+1tb, seems like something fried itself. I was playing GTA V with all the settings maxed out with it pushing around 60-70 fps, then I got a ERR-GFX-D3D-IN error from the game itself, and everything started artifacting, and after a while, BSOD with VIDEO TDR FAILURE.
Tried powering it on again, then it shows the LEGION splash screen, and instead of booting into windows with the lock screen, the screen goes black and the computer becomes a brick (computer still running but no display output and inputting things does nothing).
After a couple restarts the computer recognizes that there is an issue with startup and prompts the recovery menu, I've tried everything from uninstalling updates, rolling back to previous states, and finally resetting the entire windows and storage partitions. But in every process, the screen goes black and it never recovers, the output just cuts off.
Hardware issue definitely, and after speaking with premium support I'm getting a replacement. Sitting here hoping I was just very unlucky and got a defective unit. My first laptop from Lenovo and it is not the best feeling, but I'll stay optimistic. Thankfully I caught this issue on the day I received it.
Some things about this laptop I saw
-Laptop idled at 50c for both cpu and gpu, while gaming it would reach 95c and 80~c for cpu and gpu respectively.
-Vantage software said there was a new bios update but it failed every time when I tried to update via the software, so I just downloaded it from the website and installed it, lost the manual fan boost button and option to automatically disable g sync on battery after that.
-Corsair application needed to be restarted every time computer was restarted, since the computer would return to the default blueish light settings every time. (The app was on the startup list but it never launched during startup, strange)
-Text in windows 10 for certain popups and prompts would be blurry, like I was using a 4k display or something. The text in hwmonitor was noticeably just like that, blurry and not normal, scaled wrong.
-Light bleeding is definitely something you would get on these things, the lid is assembled on super tight, and it's rather thin so the panel is under constant pressure, you will notice that the panel backlight bleeding levels changing as you apply pressure to the lid housing and around the bezels, but other laptops are like that? -
These were the first models I looked at when my Y50-70 died. Really love the look of these, pretty much everything about them. But that ****ing numpad layout on the 17" and some of the 15"s, wtf. I actually use the numpad alot, that's literally the sole thing that kept me from getting one.

I am about to give the 15" model a try, i5 or i7 is the question, good offer today on the german lenovo store.
One question before i hit the button remains, is there a second m.2 / nvme slot to install another ssd? Support doesn't know unfortunately.. -
The i5 is a great CPU too so I only recommend the i7 if you can personally benefit from the 4 extra threads.
Can you get the i5 combined with the RTX 2060 for example? -
Yes
However the i7 version with 256 gb ssd is only 1650 eur, no os and no storage drive though and at least a week until shipping.
I5 should be fine for casual gaming and such, no? -
It just became available in Sweden and ordered the 15inch with RTX2060, 32GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Unfortunately with no student discount since it is not applicable on some new products in Sweden.
I intend to use it mostly for 3D modelling, rendering and Adobe Suite. I think that RTX2070 would be a little too much for this kind of use.
Let's hope that it will be dispatched in 7 working days as stated on the website.Last edited: Mar 1, 2019 -
You guys think upgrading from the RTX 2060 to a RTX 2070MQ/RTX 2080MQ worth the extra money if you plan on keeping the laptop for 2-3 years?
I’m really torn about the decision. I’m thinking I need at least a 2070 MQ but from what I seen the 2060 really is a great GPU.
