How did you get 10% off?
-
I went through the Chat line with Lenovo and asked for an eCoupon.
-
I see. I can't really confirm if others might of had issues. I could imagine if there are they would be isolated. How were you able to transfer the operating system and such to the 840 pro? Did you create recovery media using an USB?
-
Personally I'm glad to hear it. It's a beautiful machine, it just seems I got the short end of the straw
I'm in touch with one of the staff @ the Lenovo forum, so hopefully my situation will be resolved soon and then they'll have their sample unit
I've already imaged the drive after I had it set up, so now all I'm after is a working unit (though I'd much prefer one with a 4600 in
)
-
Simon, I hope lenovo will resolve your issue quick and smooth. You shouldn't have to go through such a tedious process for obtaining a defective unit
-
I just installed Windows 8.1 Pro fresh from a USB key onto the hard drive. I pulled the windows key from the OS beforehand since there is no key on the machine itself.
It is a BIOS activated key, so once you install it, you need to call Microsoft's Windows activation center to verify the installation ID.
I don't usually keep/care about the recovery partition. -
For the Canadians, I can confirm that the 12CLOSE0624 coupon code does indeed work and its a pretty hefty coupon. I'm still going to wait it out though as I believe more options and discounts will be available in the coming weeks.
-
It's a headache and annoying from my perspective, but I can appreciate that from Lenovos perspective they are obviously wanting to be able to reproduce the issue to ensure it doesn't happen to future units. As a silver lining, by the time this is resolved I'm wondering whether the 4600 models will have appeared in which case it may end up better for me in the long run
-
Thanks everyone that replied. The 12% coupon worked like a charm! Order placed.
Let's just hope for no digitizer issues. -
How is the noise and heat on this?
-
Greetings cwh060 ! Did you get your order in? When I check out it gives me a zero amount... Called Lenovo and they say they do not see it on their Canadian site yet.
-
Does anyone have the 20CD0033US model in the US ?
Is that with the digitizer pen ? -
This model does not include a digitizer.
-
That happened to me as well. Make sure you are already logged in when you customize and add it to your cart.
-
Yes, got the order invoice and ship date from Lenovo.
-
Thank you to everyone who has posted all the great information on the TP Yoga. I just found this thread today, and I think that this system will be perfect for me. Just ordered one from the Lenovo site using the 12% coupon code, and am very grateful to WKA for posting the code.
One question for those who have the FHD with antiglare + digitizer -- does it look like the antiglare coating is something that can be removed? Kind of like the Fujitsu convertibles with the antiglare that could be peeled off (T5010, T4010, T901, etc...)
I am probably in the minority, but I prefer a glossy screen because then you don't get as much graininess to the screen.
I had an HP 2730p for a while, and that matte screen added so much grain to the display. I'm hoping that it might be removable, or else that it is just slightly anti-glare and won't add much grain.
Thanks again for everyone's reviews, can't wait to receive my system! -
Curious, what is the part no. of your order? Mine is 20CDCTO1WW. I would have thought the Canadian ones would have the US post-fix, except for the french ones which would have the CA post-fix like the Solutions Book showed.
What does WW stand for? World-wide?
I'm also concerned with why us Canadians are the only ones that can choose the vPro chips, they were previously rumoured to be released in Jan/Feb. -
Can anyone who has this machine confirm that the SD card reader (I assume it has one, Lenovo website says 4 in one card reader), if the SD card when inserted goes in all the way flush or does it stick out?
-
Hi Guys,
Please review the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga's digitizer and pen with ZBrush and Photoshop, when you get your units.
Thank you. -
Do you know when it should arrive at your door step or at least when it will leave their warehouse?
-
Can you please explain how and what you did in a lot more detail, beginning with where/how you made the USB install disk and especially the note about the Windows product key.
Thanks! It's a big help for me and other newbies. -
They quote you on the ship date and they also leave a delivery date which is a few days after the ship date. I have an estimated ship date of 12/02 and a delivery date of 12/09,
Remember. It is just a quote. I've heard horror stories of people having to wait a month or longer to receive their unit.
But I am optimistic that it will ship on time, if not sooner.
*FINGERS CROSSED* -
I'd die to get more info regarding this one...
Goggle didn't know yet. -
I had a look at the repair manual and there was no mention/illustration of any WWAN antennae, so I don't think any retrofit would be easy. However, if it was added as a feature later then you could potentially fit the antennae if you were handy with a screwdriver and happy to void the warranty. Even if never officially added, I expect it may be possible to fit a module/antennae from a different thinkpad model.
A UK Lenovo sales rep on their helpline seemed to suggest to me that WWAN might be available as an option in the future, but seeing as on the same call they swore blind that there were no Thinkpad Yogas that came with a TPM chip, I have treated that bit of info with a grain of salt! -
Mine is exactly the same Ship and Delivery date.
-
It's getting confusing
I have contacted the place I bought it to arrange a return under the UK Distance Selling regulations.
Mark, admin on the Lenovo forum, has been in touch via pm to say that Lenovo haven't been able to replicate the issues I have seen, both digitizer and touchscreen, and so they seem to want to get hold of this unit to see the defects which is fair enough.
I would like to be able to assist, however I would also like to have certainty on what I am doing and so unless Lenovo are able to provide assurances over time scale for replacement (among other things - if I get a refund then I can get the same model from Lenovo direct with 2 years on-site warranty for cheaper than I paid Dabs, that and the fact that I am wondering if the 4600's are about to be available as they seem to be available in Canada)
Unless Mark comes back with an answer soon, I will be going down the return-to-seller-for-refund-under-Distance Selling-and-order-a-new-one-from-Lenovo approach.
At the end of the day, I just want
1 : A working Thinkpad Yoga i7 w/ digitizer preferably within the next week
2 : 2 years on-site warranty following this ... headache, that I have been through due to a hardware fault
3 : Preferably the i7-4600u, though that'd be a nice addition
How I get that I don't mind, -
Yeah, with the way that things have been going, I'm not going to hold my breath. But I believe I'll receive my unit before the year's end...........hopefully.
Also the i5 4300U and i7 4600U options are now available. -
i7-4600U is up on the US website, ready and same price as canada $270. What a jump from 160. Anyway been tracking it for a while and cant wait for atleast 2 people from north america with successful digigtizer test or its fujitsu q704 or t904.
-
I see. I hope you won't mind if I ask a few more questions:
Did you use recovery media on the USB thumb drive so that it would replicate exactly how the ThinkPad Yoga ships, or did you just have a vanilla Windows 8.1 pro on the USB? -
i7-4600U isn't that special, i can't tell the speed difference between the i7-4600U and the i5-4500U.
-
Would this work?:
-I buy the ThinkPad Yoga, then create recovery media unto a USB thumb drive.
-Then I replace the stock HDD with a new SSD that I purchased separately.
-Then I boot from the USB thumb drive and do the recovery process
Wondering if anyone has any experience in this and if this would work without any problems -
The 4500u is an i7 also - personally I'm not interested in it for speed, for that the 4500u is sufficient. It's the fact that the 4600u has VT-d etc (though realistically not a deal-breaker)
For a full comparison of the 4 i5/i7 processor options available, here's a useful link : ARK | Compare Intel® Products -
Why does only the i7 models has 8gb of ram? According to RTPW1230_ThinkPad_YogaUltrabook
there should be 8gb ram models with i5 4300U -
I never had a problem doing this with any modern PC. There should be no issue doing it with the TPY. The only caveat is the activation process for windows 8. You might have to call in to finish the activation process.
More options will be available later. This includes both HDD/SDD options and Ram options. And let's not forget NFC. -
If I were you, I would just return it under DSR, & not get into testing etc.
-
i5 with 8GB RAM is available at least in the UK, I've ordered it.
-
I would second that, return under distance sellng regulations, or under the sales of goods act as having a manufacturing defect and therefore not of satisfactory quality. You need to arrange for it go back via the retailer - if the retailer themselves choose for it to be delivered to Lenovo that is fine, as long as it is clear that this is done under the auspices of the retailer and not you.
-
Lasse M I was wondering that myself. If so, that would be another reason for me to buy the HDD model then replace it with an SSD that I purchased
-
1. How are we doing on reports of the screen malfunction with the pen usage outside of the UK?
2. any discounts codes for Scandinavia -
I'm also interested in a discount code for Scandinavia - if there are any...
-
I am curious on how the touchpad works. I looks like the whole pad clicks. Can you left and right click on the top and bottom of the pad or what?
-
How likely is it that you can bring in your TPY (to a Lenovo Service Center) in 3-4 years and have the battery replaced? I don't know if this installed battery is a standard shared by many models or just TPY. How long does Lenovo manufacture parts like this for a specific model?
-
Hello NBR COmmunity,
i ordered my Thinkpad Yoga and cant wait till it's arrive (got the i7 with ssd)!
So i have a few question to the lucky people :hi2: who already got their unit!!!
1. I'd like to know whats in the box? Does it come with adapters? Like usb to Ethernet, or mini-HDMI to something else?
Got the answer by my self
(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwsZCtZO9cQ&feature=c4-overview&list=UUpvg0uZH-oxmCagOWJo9p9g) is an unboxing!!!
2. Does some one actually run Photoshop or a drawing APP like Manga Studio? I'd like to know if there is WinTap issues like there was with the first SurfacePro?
3. Does some one use a Sleeve for example some that work with 13" devices? (MacPro retina have quite similar measurements)
Thank you for reading and if you like replying!!!
-
Why are retailers selling configurations of this model much cheaper than the Lenovo store? Even with 12% off and the Student Discount, some models are $200 - $300 more. Any answers? Or is it just something wrong with the site?
-
It depends as to how much margin the retailers are willing to forego. It's all about competition.
-
This is for anybody who has the i7 version with FHD and digitiser.
Could you please let me know the battery life your getting and what you doing during that time?
Also could you try going into advanced power settings in Windows and limiting the CPU to only 70% maximum while on battery power and see what your results are like? Seeing as the i7 and the i5 are virtually the same chip besides the extra Cache. BUT the i7 clocks 20% higher at max frequency, so if we limit the maximum to around 70-80% while on battery power it should give the same battery life as the i5 version. Just curious as I am planning to get the i7 and then limit its power while on battery as I won't need it compared to the extra battery life I might gain, -
All of the US resellers I've found so far are selling the models without the active digitizer, which adds to the cost (and usefulness in my opinion).
-
Well, I'm not sure if this is going to be the final price, but the model I want from the Edgebook with these configurations are being priced at $1,400-$1,500:
Which sounds like they're really undercutting the price or something.
