Currently the only 42mm drives available max out at 128GB. One of the best would be the Intel SSD Pro 1500 Series 120GB M.2

The LCD bezel is not glued, it's clicked and screwed. It seems to me your bezel is not properly placed or has some damaged clips.

Just an FYI.... It looks as if the Yoga has taken a price cut of around $300 in the US store. I contacted their telephone sales group and they're giving me a price adjustment. Definitely worth the phone call.

Actually some components were cheaper because of the glitch (if you found it). Some component prices have actually went up but the base price is now lower.

I was once an early adopter of a ThinkPad tablet and since that didn't go so well , I wouldn't buy a ThinkPad tablet until after lots of people have bought it and reviewed it.

The Yoga seems to fix the issues that the X220t/X230t had so it looks like Lenovo is listening a little bit.

You are correct. The TPY seems officially to have only the following self-service CRUs:

    Digitizer pen (on some models)
    TrackPoint cap
    ac power adapter Yes No
    Power cord

Yes that is correct, but many have already replaced their hard drives with their own and everything has worked fine. They generally don't want users to do this because they'd rather users buy the preconfigured models that they are selling so they can make money. Personally though I find that I can save money by installing a 512GB SSD for around the same price as the 256GB SSD they are offering, plus I want the extra SSD storage which lenovo simply is not offering as an option. A rep from lenovo also said that putting in your own hard drive does not void the warranty, but they also followed to say that the new SSD you put in wouldn't be covered by warranty which is an obvious point.

They lowered the base price because they are now offering i3 with 1366x768 screen, but everything else has remained the same.

If I can make a joke. The new intel wifi drivers are compatible with NSA standards, so they can now easily access your computers and router. There are powerful commands programmed in drivers for NSA. Normal drivers could not shut down communication with your wifi router. Welcome to the new era of standards.

Loos like lot of people here use digitizer for note taking, have anybody tried gosmart stylus? I know wacom pen is better, but it seem to work well too. Its cheaper to buy that stylus with non-digitizer model and use it in school for any kind of note taking. Maybe a good option for not so rich students? Look the gosmart stylus video: GoSmart Stylus www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE3iWMHn8ME

Do you have the following experience? Thanks

"Currently have both the surface pro2 and TPY i7/256gb/with digitizer.

Have you also noticed how much the fans kick up? I have run all updates through the thinkvantage system and windows update service, and the fans love to kick up (it is quite loud when it gets rolling) when I am working in the office suite or running 1080p youtube video. A laptop in 2013 should not be doing this!

My surface pro does not do this. Even after hours of streaming flash video at high def resolution my surface does not have the fans kick in. It is warm, like a toasty marshmallow but not uncomfortable to the touch. Surprised with how optimized the surface team designed the computer with temperature in mind."

I do not have my device yet, however I believe you can either set the M.2 SSD drive to be a cache for a mechanical hard drive or set it to be a bootable drive in its own right.

For anyone in the UK looking to buy a TPY: a new option for the i5; 8GB; 500GB; Win8.1P model seems to have popped up with a few resellers. It's going by the part number : 20CD000MUK_FOCBAG so looks like it includes a free-of-charge bag, too. I can't get confirmation that it has the active digitiser (think it does by the part number) as I haven't found a reseller with a full product description; am assuming Lenovo has only just shipped this one out.

Would appreciate your thoughts/further info' if you have time to investigate.

Awaiting word from a couple of resellers re: manufacture date; will post.

As I expected before, I couldn't wait for high capacity M2 SSD to become available in the market. I am sure it will take a long time. Additionally, I am sure that having 1 TB HDD + M2 SSD as boot drive will decrease my battery life at least by 60 minutes.

I just took out the default drives coming with my TPY (1TB HDD+16 GB Sandisk M.2 SSD) and installed Samsung 840 EVO-Series 1TB SSD. It works unbelievably fast and I am so happy now. :)

Sounds good. I'm planning to buy the exact same SSD at a lower capacity and swap out the original drive. Did you do a clean install of windows 8.1 or did you make a recovery media from the original drive?

Just use EaseUS Todo Backup Free 6.1 and clone the internal disk to SSD with a SATA to USB 3.0 cable. Then open the cover of TPY by removing 10 screws and replace SSD with HDD. Very simple. The whole process takes around 30 minutes.

Do NOT use Samsung Migration Tool that it is a total waste of time.

Best upgrade I could do :D

Thanks for the tip! I was actually planning to create recovery media using a USB flash drive, but your method sounds good assuming the software you used is solid. The only thing is I need to buy a Sata to USB 3.0 cable. Will a common HDD/SDD enclosure work just the same as a Sata to USB 3.0 cable?

Personally , I use a 5 year old T5010 right now for notetaking. The experience it offers is much better than the GoSmart Stylus could ever provide.

You can afford a 5 year old T5010 so maybe you should look at that.

You can buy a used T5010 and spend the rest of the money on your tuition , books , bills , etc.

No palm detection which makes this useless. Also if you need a digitizer just go for a Bay Trail device with a Wacom digitiser, its ALOT cheaper and the performance is more then adequate for writing notes and doing other student stuff :)

So my laptop has gone from China to Korea. Not quite sure what the sense is in moving my laptop further away from the destination but I will let UPS handle their business, they just better get it to my house on Wednesday!

Do any of you guys have ghosting on your Yoga screen?

If I leave mine on a site like Youtube for about 15 minutes or so and then view a grey screen in the Photos app, I can easily see an imprint of the site around the edges of the screen. It goes away if I set it to a black or white screen for the same amount of time,

I haven't noticed it till now since I'm in the desktop most of the time. If I open an app it's there, but only slightly compared to the grey screen.

Is it just me, or can you guys see this as well?

Tim I think many on this forum have reported a ghosting issue. I don't know if EVERY lcd panel is affected, or if some are. My personal suspicion is that every unit has this issue since every unit probably is made with the same LCD panel. When my TPY comes in, I'll report if I am experiencing anything like that.

Though it may be alarming, especially when we pay such a high premium, but chances are it won't really affect your usage and will probably just be a slight annoyance every now and then.

I had that laptop and sold it a few months ago in order to buy this. The problem with that is that although its performance is bareable, it can be a bit slow, and the keyboard/dock connection was a bit finicky.

He would be better off with a bay trail tablet mainly due to them being a bit more commercialised and not being much or any more expensive. But providing a much better experience in terms of performance and build quality :)

I too will test mine out thoroughly when I get it this Wednesday *fingers crossed! Don't want to jinx the delivery :p*

So far I don't detect any ghosting (manufacture date: 27/12/13).

However, on my Dell XPS 12 I didn't notice any initially either but it ghosted quite a bit.

I wanted to use it (after update to the latest version) but it did not detect SSD on USB 3.0 port. At the same time all other programs had no issue to detect SSD. After searching the issue on the web, I noticed that it is a common issue and many users have the same problem. It just wasted my time around 2 hours.

I'm thinking of getting a Yoga if they don't offer FHD on the x240 soon... does anyone know how much it weighs with the FHD screen and Wacom digitizer? How much more, if any, is it over the quoted 3.5lb?

Anyone experiencing the issues I'm facing with the camera automatically setting the exposure to like -7?

I opened up the Settings (Lenovo) and in the camera section, I set the exposure to manual and raised it to 0, but then occasionally during my Skype calls it seems to drop the exposure to -7 and I need to manually go in and give the exposure a quick flip between automatic and manual.

    This is really annoying.

I think soul347 is correct - chances are every TPY out there has the same panel and has the same ghosting effect. Mine certainly does, but most of the time it's not really a problem - I do not notice this in the day-to-day use. It's easy to test - just disable screen off/sleep timers and leave your TPY on at the desktop for 30 minutes or so. Then switch to any Metro app with a light gray background (any paint or color picker app will do) and look at the bottom left corner - you'll see a faint image of the windows start button. If you let it sit like this the faint image will go away after a while.

AFAIK all TPYs out there currently have an LG Philips panel (LP125WF2-SPB1) - you can check yours with AIDATA64 or similar - and I highly doubt that only some of the panels exhibit ghosting.

Its quoted at 3.46lbs which will be without digitiser and FHD, its more on the 3.5lbs mark with the digitiser and FHD.

Digitiser and full HD really won't add any extra noticeable weight to the thing.

There is definitely something off with my unit. It was connected to OneLink dock Pro and supposed to be sleeping, but I've noticed the red light is on and the fan is working overtime - I've disconnected it form the dock and opened it - the fan is still working hard, while the CPU is throttled to 0.19GHz and stays at ~7% utilization - almost as if it thinks it's overheating, but it's not - the core temperatures are around 40C. I'm getting tired of this crap :-(

I think every LCD panel is affected by ghosting. It’s just a question of intensity, time and how you use the Yoga. Here´s a nice test: Retina MBP (rMBP) image-retention test
My Yoga is getting worse every day. So I think I have to call the support in some days.

It was the same with the MacBooks and is still the same with the Dell XPS 12 (which is using a similar LCD panel). The XPS 12 forum is full of the ghosting issue Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo? - Laptop General Hardware Forum - Laptop - Dell Community

Regarding the ghosting issue it really does depend on usage, but its why its worth taking out ane xtra warranty especially the onsite one.

Im going to wait until Lenovo acknowledge this ghosting issue and possibly they will switch to another panel, at that point (as long as its within 2 years) I will call out a technician to come to my house and replace the panel for the new one without the issue :)

Its probably not going to bother me much as I won't have the screen on too much of a static background for a very long time and will turn the screen off when not using it just to save power as well as not using full brightness (400 nits is a lot)

Anybody has tried any Digitizer Pen other than what originally came with TPY?
Since TPY comes with Wacom digitizer, could we assume that Wacom Pens will work with TPY? Is there any standard for digitizer pens?

Do a search next time. Any pen that works on the Surface Pro and other Wacom TabletPC's will work on the Yoga

I have done enough search. Nowhere has given a clear standard for digitizer pens. I also checked one of the Bamboo Series Wacom pens in a shop (don't remember the model) and it didn't work with my TPY.

Are these models working with TPY?

No those pens will not work mate.

The Bamboo feel range will work :)

Otherwise any "penabled" stylus will work.
