At what percent does it say stop charging? What if you drain the battery a bit and plug it in again, will it charge then?

It looks like your battery is set to stop charging at a certain point to optimize the longevity of your. Type "Lenovo settings" on your start screen search, open the app, and click power to see if you have set any settings to optimize battery life.

I have the same problem. I have dual band wifi version. I tried several different solution from web. I have the default gateway not found type of problem. The quickest way to regain the internet via wifi is to right click on your small wifi icon next to clock on your desktop's taskbar and choose troubleshoot. This automatically fix the problem and also tells you what was the cause of it. It takes max 10 seconds.
But it is not the real solution. For me, I found old drivers (version: 16.1.3) and after installing those few days ago I have not had wifi problems anymore. I just installed those without uninstalling anything. So downgrade your drivers and try yourself:

I know my ThinkPads have always been set by default to not charge between 96 and 100% to help protect the battery. So, if you plugged it in and the battery was at 97%, for instance, it would just stay at 97% and not charge. Haven't gotten my Yoga yet, but would expect the same sort of default setting.

Out of curiosity I decided to run this test on my MS Surface Pro while connected to 3 external monitors. I ran the test for 5 minutes, none of the external LED LCD monitors had any image retention issues (2 made by LG, 1 made by Corega), but the Surface pro took about 10-15 seconds for the image to disappear.

How long does it take on the TPY for those experiencing this? I never even noticed it on the Surface before I tried the test.

Cheers, I'll give that a try tomorrow. I'm running low on battery and I left my charger at somebodies house.

On another note I've just connected the tpy to my Dell U2713HM monitor via HDMI and it looks like the max resolution is 1080p :( I set the tpy to Project onto 2nd screen only and than via desktop, I right clicked and chose screen resolution and the max to select is 1920 x 1080. Is there another way to get an higher resolution? I only ask out of hope and in case I missed something. The native res of the monitor is 2560-by-1440 other than the dock is there another cable or adapter that would allow me to get the full res of the monitor from the tpy?

These are the ports the monitor has:
    DVI-D with HDCP
    DisplayPort 1.2 (DP)
    HDMI
    VGA

From my desktop I currently use The DVI-D connection for the full res.

This may be a limitation of the onboard HDMI connector. BUT you could buy a USB 3.0 to VGA adapter. It might lag for gaming or so but should be perfectly fine for general usage and movies.

Definitely not. The Yoga has a more shallow key travel compared to the t440s. Check out this video on youtube to give you a good idea of the key travel between the two: Thinkpad T430 vs. Thinkpad Yoga Key Travel - YouTube

My personal preference however is the key travel on the Yoga. Some keyboards I find have too much travel, such as the X1 carbon and t440s, while some keyboards have to shallow of a travel like several ideapad laptops. I find that the ThinkPad Yoga has found the sweet spot, but this of course is purely personal. I find that I am less accurate and feel less confident typing on a keyboard with way too much travel. I think the keyboard on the TPY is superb and I can type very fast on this thing.

The TPY is the 1.4 HDMI standard, meaning it can achieve higher than 1080p. It may have something to do with the monitor or cable that you are using.

I have just tested it. Before: 10min with opened Outlook. After that i switched to the grey background (the color of win 8.1 when you choose desktop background for metro). It tooks me 6 minutes and 13 seconds until I could no longer see the windows icon.

    Hi everyone,

I'm having another issue with my new ThinkPad Yoga. Sometimes when I close the laptop (which puts it to standby), then reopen it the next morning, the display size changes from Normal to Small! This is very annoying, because everything is too small on this Display size. Does anyone know a fix to this bug?

Is anyone else experiencing slow performance issues on their Thinkpad Yoga?

Opening and saving Office documents and other applications takes a long time. Sometimes up to 10 seconds. Definitely much slower than my 7 year old HP laptop

I have the i7 with 8Gb memory with Win 8.1. I think I have installed all the updates.

While searching the internet, I came across this discussion, specifically concerning Lenovo laptops & windows 8.1:
How to Fix Windows 8.1 Slow Performance Issues

Before I start disabling stuff, if anybody has any tips can you please let me know?
    thank you in advance

Just ordered my TPY today. I really did want to see more of the Fujitsu T904, but I am losing time here at school where I could be using the TPY.

I can always return the TPY if the T904 ends up being amazing and reasonably priced.

Something is not right. I have the i5 4200u with 4GB of RAM and it's running really smoothly. Everything is almost instant, and I am a heavy office user (Word, One Note, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook) and all applications are very snappy. When you experience these delays, keep task manager running and monitor the performance. See the processes that are opened and take note of which ones are using the most CPU power and RAM. You might find that you have something installed on your computer that is not functioning as it should and is thus robbing all your resources.

If I were you though, I'd personally do a factory reset.

Which version of Office are you using? Is there an SSD in your Yoga? If so, which type (stock/aftermarket)?

I am using Office 2013 x64 and everything is lightning fast; I can open an 8GB PowerPoint presentation in 4 seconds without issues.

Are you reading/writing your documents to a USB stick or an external device? If so, is it still slow/sluggish when on the main drive of the Yoga?

This is a common problem under Windows 8.1, and not really a problem specific to the TPYoga. Someone else on this forum had this issue (See forum page 235, post #2348). Though not sure if a solid solution has been found. All the possible solutions I am aware of should be somewhere near the original post of this problem on the page I mentioned.

Anyone have a picture of this sitting next to the T440s? I'm trying to see size differences. The only thinkpad i've seen in the last 5 years was a Yoga at Micro Center on saturday. I was incredibly impressed with the feel of it and the keyboard. I'd like to compare it to the T440s but for some reason no one has done that.

Thank you (and the others!) for responding. Glad to see that I am a negative exception to the rule.
    1. I have used Task Manager and when starting up Outlook or Excel the CPU and Memory don´t break a sweat. CPU hardly comes over 15%. I do notice a bit of heavy disk activity, but as far as I can tell nothing out of the ordinary. I will keep monitoring though.

    2. Office version is Office 2013 32-bit version, downloaded as part of Office 365 deal. It is 32 bit while my 8.1 OS is 64 bit. could that be a potential source? Office 365 recommended the 32 bit version.....

    3. Harddisk is factory standard 500Gb disk. Not SDD

    4. No external USB stick or storage devices. However, I do connect with the OneLink Pro and there are some ethernet connections issues (many others have that same issue, lots of discussions going on on the Lenovo forum). However, the slowness also occurs when I am not connected to the OneLink Pro

I will keep monitoring with the Task Manager and perhaps 3rd party resource monitoring applications. Sigh, this is 2014 and I just wish somebody somewhere could write the ideal diagnostic tool...

Thanks again for your help and time. To be cont...
    Cheers,
    Olof

Office comes standard in 32-bit, which mine also is, so it can't be the problem. Very few people would ever benefit from a 64-bit version of office. I'm quite stumped. I'm not sure if the HDD is the problem, as most of us here are using SSD's on our ThinkPad Yoga's. If it wouldn't be too much trouble for you, I'd just backup my essential files and do a factory reset just to be sure.

Do you have any anti-virus installed?

Windows 8 has built in anti virus that is pretty damn good so using an alternative anti-virus will only slow stuff down.

That's a good point. TPY came with Norton Antivirus. One of the first things I did was uninstall it. I utterly detest anti virus software. The only one i'll ever use is the one built in windows because it's reliable, regularly updated, doesn't hog resources, and unobtrusive - you won't even notice it's there.

I experienced this issue earlier and the bad news is that after 2 weeks of struggling & even consulting with Microsoft, it's still unsolved.

Tell me about the adjustments you have done in your TPY or any new softwares you have installed recently. Maybe we find something in common and could solve the issue.

Just wondering if you tried the suggestion I posted earlier?

I had this issue and one time I opened my laptop and it had all gone small, so I went into the Modern settings and changing the display size to Small and back to Large fixed it, it's been 2 weeks now and hasn't occurred again since :)

It seems its some kind of registry style thing and switching it from Small back to Large resets the setting and it actually remembers it.

I immediately double checked, but I do not have any anti-virus installed, except for the build-in Windows Defender.

Does your 7 year old HP have an SSD by any chance?

    Nope, plain old HDD

Office comes standard in 32-bit, which mine also is, so it can't be the problem. Very few people would ever benefit from a 64-bit version of office. I'm quite stumped. Good to hear that this can't be the problem. A factory reset, you're probably right, but I use TPY for work so there are almost a dozen programs installed for work. It took 1/2 day to install all this stuff, so I prefer to find out the cause. Otherwise I might run the risk of re-creating the problem again.
I'm hoping by monitoring the Task Manager to identify the culprit...

Thanks again to you all for taking time to try to help me out. :)

I've just received my TYP and I love it. Looks very tough, weighs very little (my last laptop weitgh 2,5 Kg) and its very silent.

I have some questions, I bought the device especially for the digitizer. I've just calibrate it but I don't know any program to use it properly. I know that One Note is very good to take notes but I'm also looking for writing on PDFs. What program do you recommend for that? If one program do all of that, take notes and modify PDFs, that will be the best choice.

    Thanks in advance

Quick test: WinKey + R -> Type 'mspaint' hit Enter -> Start drawing. It's not pressure sensitive but it definitely lets you know if it's working.

I've encountered a problem with the digitizer. All the note taking was good until I find a spot in the screen. In that place the signal of the digitizer, the mark you can see whenever yo approach the digitizer to the screen, separates more from the point that I really lay down the digitizer.

I uploaded a video of the situation.

    MOV04966 - YouTube

During all the video the digitizer was touching the screen. Maybe is a calibration problem. How do you do the calibration? I use the windows calibration.

I can do a better video but I think is enough to show what I am talking about. It only happens in that spot of the screen.

Ah yes it looks like you have the classic black hole problem that has been addressed early on in this forum. Unfortunately there is no fix and if you don't return your machine it might suck you into another dimension.

Alright aside from the cheesy jokes, here is where you can download the fix: http://support.lenovo.com/en_FI/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS039146&rss=true

BUT before you do this, have you done a windows update and Lenovo drivers update? If not I suggest you do both first and if the problem still persists, go to the link above. In order to do a Lenovo drivers update, type "System Update" in search on your start screen and click the one with the red icon, then follow the steps. I however refrained from installing the synaptics driver because I find it doesn't work so well with the trackpad. All other updates I have installed.

After EVERYTHING, do the 273 point calibration. Message me if you want to know how to do this after you've done all of the above

Thank you, It works perfectly. I no longer have that hole, at least not the same hole.

I want to do the 273 point calibration and I see this post:

[HOW TO] PROPERLY calibrate your PEN and fix those stupid corners (273 test points) - xda-developers

I don't understand all the steps but, Is that the method?

Glad it worked. Did you just do the system update, or you downloaded the driver in the link I gave?

Steps to do the 273 point calibration:

    1. Ensure that all previous calibration information is reset by typing "calibrate the screen for pen or touch input" in search on your start screen. *NOTE: While on start screen, you can begin to type immediately and it will automatically go to search

    2. Hit the "reset" button

    3. Type "run" in search on your start screen

4: Paste this " tabcal devicekind=pen lincal novalidate XGridPts=10,60,110,160,260,360,460,560,660,810,960,1110,1260,1360,1460,1560,1660,1760,1810,1860,1910 YGridPts=10,60,110,160,250,400,540,680,830,920,970,1020,1070" and press OK

    5. Go through each point and hold the pen exactly as you would when using the pen normally.

Should you ever want to reset this information in the future, you'll have to do some additional steps.

Just a heads up: The i5 4200u is now available with 8GB of RAM on U.S/Canada sites.

Canadians also get options for Hard Drive storage. Amazingly, the 500GB HDD is $261 cheaper than the 128GB SSD. How I wish the 8GB of RAM and 500GB HDD configurations were available a few weeks ago. I would of saved a lot of money and gotten the 8GB of RAM since I was planning to self upgrade to an SSD anyway. Anyway, just giving this heads up for any future buyers out there

    Still no NFC options

No, I had already done the system update before you told me. Only the driver you linked me works.

After the 273 points calibration it seems to have better accuracy. Now I can say that I´m very happy with this device. I hope I don´t finde more issues.

Thank you very much for all.

Bump on One Note and Drawboard PDF.

I import all my lecture notes into One Note and make my annotations there. Drawboard is a nice lightweight PDF annotator that's way cheaper compared to the competition. It was $4 bucks a week ago.

BTW Has anyone been able to successfully use the 273 pt calibration with the Wacom Feel Driver? I'd like to have the pressure sensitivity and the button customization with the 273 pt calibration accuracy. Any help would be much appreciated.
