That is very strange indeed. If you never edited the registry before, then there should be a LinearityData without the user. I'm quite stumped at this point. Be sure you're finding the correct linearitydata in the right path mentioned above.

Use EaseUS Todo Backup. It's very simple and fast.
I changed mine to 1TB SSD so there was no point to keep 16 GB M2 SSD. It is much slower than Samsung Evo 840 Series and drains the battery if you keep it. So I personally think that removing it would be a great idea.
If you need extra 16GB you can keep it. Some people also will keep it for additional OS. But if you need it for storage in Windows, don't forget to uninstall Lenovo Caching Software from Programs & Features in Control panel because caching to a slower drive would be a crazy idea.

I must be daft, but I can´t find the ´Intel Smart Response Technology´ on my TPY. Looked in ´Programs and Features´ & Device Manager. Where to look for it? I also went to Lenovo´s support Download center to find it to download it, but also there I can´t find it.
Upgrade to SDD, I should have bought it with SDD but I splurged on the i7 w/HDD instead of i5 w/SDD..... But seeing as several people on this forum have had the guts to upgrade to SDD themselves, maybe I should do the same. Via cloning I assume. Just a little worried about warranty issues etc.. -
So the best idea is to get HDD and upgrade to SSD. Don't worry. It is very simple and just a piece of cake. I am sure that it does not effect warranty status because it is very simple and does not interfere with any other parts of the laptop. I have done similar upgrades for all my laptops during past 15 years and no warranty issues so far with at least 5 brands and Lenovo won't be an exception.
If this is the first time for you, read Lenovo instructions in the website carefully or get some help from a friend. I personally did not even look at the instructions and the whole process of cloning and swapping drives didn't not take more than 30-40 minutes. After you do it once, you will never hesitate for such simple upgrades in the future.

A really odd issue I've just noticed:
- Mute the laptop (using the FN+F1 shortcut or from the volume menu)
- Lock the laptop (CTRL+L)
- Unlock the laptop
- It will unmute itself after 5 seconds!
I've yet to find a setting that will stop this from occurring. -
The only reason to stick an Evo in is if you need more then 256GB, if you don't then its an expensive and relatively unnecessary upgrade. Not to mention the possible recovery issues you and soul had that require a bit of technical know how to fix.

Has anybody noticed that the keyboard disables itself if you hold the laptop sideways while in laptop mode??
Holding it so that the screen is basically portrait but still in laptop mode and the keyboard/trackpad will disable.
Its a weird thing :s

1. Like you mentioned, one might want more than 256GB. I wanted more because larger SSD's not only have more capacity (which I need) but longer life spans, and tend to have faster read/write speeds. Also take note that SSD's begin to slow down when they are almost filled to capacity. These days people need more storage, and I simply didn't want to keep accessing my files on an external hard drive, and I wanted to keep all of my files on a fast SSD, ready to access even when I'm out of the house.
2. Lenovo flat out rips you off! Can you imagine they are charging $260 more for a 128GB SSD over the 500GB HDD and they are charging $410 more for a 256GB SSD! You can take the $260 and that will almost pay for a 500GB SSD that is faster, more reliable, has more features, consumes less power for better battery life, etc. all while keeping an HDD for backup. For $410 you can buy yourself a 750GB Samsung 840 Evo on amazon.com! You're basically paying the amount one would pay for a much larger, superior drive.
3. Should I ever want to sell my computer, I can simply put in the original drive and let the new buyer know it was never used at all, so they can be sure the SSD has many more years left in it. I also won't have to worry about reformatting my drive and the possibility of people gaining access to my sensitive files. (When you reformat your drive, your files are technically still there and can be recovered easily).
4. It is just flat out fun. I am the "do it yourself" kind of guy that likes to open up gadgets and learn. I can't even begin to tell you how much I've learned about computers by just opening up my machine and dealing with hardware/software issues. I ran into some complications on the way, but the experience and knowledge gained was totally worth it. There is just something so satisfying about upgrading something yourself and having it work smoothly.
As far as recovery issues are concerned, it was really fun figuring out how to get it to work. Once you have the instructions, it will take you literally 10 minutes or less to get it working again. Chances are someone who is willing to upgrade a drive themselves will have no problem getting the recovery partition active again. I could imagine that the people who buy ThinkPads are usually willing to do these kind of things. But I could totally understand if someone just wants to buy the SSD straight from Lenovo and not deal with any "do it yourself" hassles. To each their own -
I am pretty sure to have found the right item at registry, So, I still stuck because system isn't allowing me to re-calibrate via 273 points...
-
And when you find the item it already says "UserLinearityData" ? If that is the case, try removing "User" from it and see what happens. If it doesn't do anything or something goes wrong, put "User" back in front of it. -

TP Yoga at home XD
1. It's normal that the screen bend (1-2 mm) specially between the hinge?
2. There is a screen protector on the LCD? The feeling is horrible with the touch and the pen.Can i remove it? -
The price of 840 EVO Series is very reasonable at the moment. If you upgrade yourself you will have a better performance with cheaper price.
According to Lenovo US Website, TPY with Normal HDD 500 GB & SSD 256 GB have $411 difference in price. Amazon Sells Samsung Evo 840 Series 250 GB for $155. So it's not a good idea to buy SSD version under any circumstances. By self upgrade you will have 3 benefits:
1. The best available SSD Performance at the market
2. Additional 500 GB HDD back up
3. Extra $256 in your pocket

It's what the reset calibration option should do. (you probably won't need the backups, but better save than sorry) -
1. Keyboard/trackpad disables.
2. Back-lit turns off.
This issue is very annoying and strange. I couldn't find any solution for that so far.

2. Yes there is a screen protector, and I heard some people successfully removed it. I personally like it because it helps significantly with glare and I like how it is smooth on my finger tips vs. the plane shiny glass on most touch devices -

- I've now visited Boot Menu using F12 and found my Samsung SSD happily listed. I was also able to exit using Esc, unlike earlier.
- I double checked Windows Update and Lenovo Software Update. There was one optional windows 8.1 update I had overlooked previously, and have now installed. Maybe that will do the trick.
Now it's just a waiting game to see if it happens again...
Soul, you're a prince for helping everyone here. -
I figured it was probably related to the issue other Win8 computers are having with excessive battery drain during sleep because the audio drivers do not allow the computer to sleep. Muting the audio fixes the issue.
EDIT: I tried it on my machine. If it goes to sleep while it is muted, it stays muted when it comes out. If it goes to sleep unmuted, it will mute when sleeping, and unmute when coming out of sleep. -
If it happens again, please let us know... maybe we can figure out a similarity that might have triggered it. But I'll cross my fingers for both of us that it was just a fluke. -
I've received a lot of help myself, so I'm always happy to help those in need -
A friend of mine just bought a TP Yoga to replace a stolen X-201s and I've been setting it up for her (new drive, software etc.) and I have to say that it's a phenomenal machine and from a hardware perspective the only flaw I can think of is the port selection. One more USB and/or using a MiniDP rather than a miniHDMI would improve things -- I'm not sure why they went with HDMI on a business machine, especially when miniDP adapters are far easier to come by. If I were in the market for a new X-series I'd strongly consider the TPY instead (I just bought a T440p, so have had my fill of new machines for now).
I've not yet experienced any of the software glitches others are reporting. I should test it further just to make sure. I'm also going to have her buy a OneLink dock, so should probably also test that to check it doesn't have the infamous issues. -

What is this?!?
Amazon.com: Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12.5-Inch Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook (20CD00B4US) Grey: Computers & Accessories
Went to look at the 20CD00US32 that I ordered from Amazon to go ahead and begin the return process (reasons listed in previous posts), and there's a link on the item page saying there's a newer version available. I click, and voila, the 20CD00B4US! What's up with this? Surely not a discreet fix for the screen? What gives? Costs $279 more than the 0032US for the same specs on Amazon. Weird. -

More people experiencing image retention and posting on the Lenovo support forums. Several have asked for an official word, solution, or even acknowledgement, but no one from Lenovo has yet to reply:
Thinkpad Yoga watermark screen issue - Page 5 - Lenovo Community
EDIT: I realize that not everyone's unit is showing any signs of image retention, but I think it's quite informative reading the experiences of those who have this issue. A few people who have posted about the image retention on their screens have had their yogas for only about a week! Whereas Soul347 and others have had theirs for longer with no sign of the issue at all.
It's a gamble I personally won't take if the issue isn't addressed and fixed.amirvf likes this. -
How did you get a better deal? I've tried googling for cheaper prices or coupons but it's still comes to a fortune.
Visiting the US next month, so tempted to get one shipped to my hotel there instead (and put up with the US keyboard)
Does any know any voucher codes / coupons for the US store ? -
Out of interest has anyone found the Windows 8.1 product key printed anywhere on the device. I could not but have extracted it from the registry with Belarc.
I am assuming it will be a block licence key, but useful to have if I decide to install a clean copy of Windows, has anyone seen if the Lenovo apps are available for download anywhere? -

What's everyone using for their security type on their wireless networks?
So far, I have not been able to connect to mine at home, and I have come to the realization that Windows 8 does not support WEP.
Anyone able to connect with WEP? If you did, what's the trick? -
Also, I can not find linearity data under Enum in the registry to redo the pen calibration. I can see it under control and tablet pc, but there are two, and one already says user linearity data.
Anyone can help with this? -
-
I recorded mine in onenote just in case I want to do a clean install any time in the future. So far I'm perfectly fine though with just starting with the factory settings. ThinkPads don't come with THAT much bloatware. -
Also love my onelink pro dock. I've encountered a few issues, but 80% of the time it is running exactly as it should be. -
Maybe you should read the following article: What Is WEP Wi-Fi Encryption & Why Is It Really Insecure?
It turns out the TPY will not connect to any AP, for example my TPY has problems connecting to a TP-Link TL-WR841N V8 router at friends home, when I try this the wireless on the router crashes. -
-
For those of you using the old dependency package that enables you to charge your battery until 50% might want to disable this feature because there has been some reports that it creates problems with newer thinkpad models (which is probably why they removed the feature to begin with). The problem is that people have reported that it causes their battery to seemingly discharge faster. I don't know if it is a calibration issue, or if it actually lowers the capacity of your battery

I'm in the market for the Thinkpad Yoga. It would be my first Lenovo. Do you folks advise purchasing a warranty beyond the factory 1 year? Thanks?
