I have a 1080p TPY, I'm finding red color has an orange tint which is little annoying as most of my work done on the TPY is Lightroom and Photoshop work. I'm guessing its a trait of the TPY display Panel?

I've tried the ICC profile uploaded by godofwar424 which I must say has improved the overall colour but Reds are still Orangy.

    Can anyone advise?

    Thanks

I ordered a thinkpad yoga on the 5th of this month and my estimated shipping/delivery is 9-15 and 9-22. Are the dates usually pretty solid or has anyone who has purchased one recently gotten theirs sooner than projected?

Is there any major significance in model numbers that end in US and those that don't?

I'm thinking of getting an external monitor around the 23" / 24" size to connect straight to the thinkpad yoga. Anybody got any suggestions? Should they all display the same through HDMI. I only ask as on my old Samsung monitor the picture was funny / not clear through the hdmi connection and the text was pixlated and had like a shadow behind it. I'm thinking of getting a Dell are there any known similar problems?

If we're talking a standard 1920x1080 monitor (likely the case with 23"-24"), I'm not sure why there would be an issue. Just make sure you have overscaling/underscaling disabled on the PC (to avoid cropping or black bars on all edges), and you should be fine.

    Greetings,

Thinkpad Yoga just arrived. Asked my salesman but he doesn't know. Called tech support but was put on hold instead of transferred and got an answer for my question 1 below that did not seem definite.

    1. When i ordered a preconfigured unit, my salesman did not know if mine had the digitizer or not. But said it should be. I would like confirmation.

How do I know that my unit came with digiter? I has a pen in that little bay on the top front right. Does that mean it definitely has the digitizer?

    Apologies for this basic question.

    2. I want to purchase a Samsung 1tb EVO SSD in 2.5" format to upgrade. Would it fit or do I need special connectors?

    3. Any software already on board that will allow me to try the digitizer and pen out?

Thanks in advance for any help for this newbie owner.

My screen seem uneven with a ban around the outer 1/2 inch but will use it a few days before passing judgment on that.

    Blessings,
    UL

    1) If it has the pen, it has the digitizer.

    2) The TPY takes regular sized 2.5" drives.

    3) Just use the pen to move your cursor on the screen and click on stuff... you don't need any special software to test it.

For those that exclusively use the touchpad, how can I use the middle button that the Thinkpad program advertises it has. I don't get any middle click response when I click the touchpad in the top middle where the grooves are at.

Do I need to activate the trackpoint somehow. My settings are such that I told the thinkpad to use both trackpoint and touchpad so technically it should be working. Unless I am missing something here. I don't want to right click and open link in new tab whenever i want to instead of using the middle button.

As far as I know the top middle button only lets you scroll with the trackpoint... if you want to scroll with the touchpad, you have do two finger scrolling or edge scrolling.

I mean really the middle button functioning like the middle button of a mouse. I would have thought they would make a functionality like that with the middle button. I really don't even know how to use the trackpoint

I was thinking my laptop was faulty! I find it quite annoying. It means I can't use it in bed sideways. Has anyone found a way to disable it?

It doesn't make sense to me. The keyboard is still in its normal-laptop position and has not been folded back, so there's no reason why it would it think the laptop is in tablet mode. Does anyone actually hold their laptop up sideways like a book to use as a tablet?

I do but I'm normally in tablet mode. Never seen a need to have the laptop in portrait mode with keyboard out. doesn't seem ergonomic at all, even less than using the on screen touch keyboard.

There are no COAs for Windows 8 since the beginning. The product-key is in the UEFI-BIOS, and if you reinstall Windows 8, it will be automatically activated.

Yup, that would be when I'd expect the keyboard to be disabled - when the keyboard is folded back.

I sometimes use my laptop in bed, sideways. It sits fine on its side, but then the touchpad and keyboard gets disabled. The touchscreen isn't accurate enough to click on small screen elements.

When I got my laptop back from Lenovo the thinkpad logo was peeling slightly. The Thinkpad logo on the bottom right corner with the red dot. The red dot part was peeling away abit but I always wondered if it was a protective sticker that was on top of the logo and just ignored it but it was getting worse. So I thought I'll check if it was a protective sticker recently and gave it a pull and now I realized it's not a sticker and it's now sticking up more. How can I get it back down as it rubs my wrist when I'm typing. Will glue work? It's the whole part of the red dot light above the letter "i" of the thinkpad logo.

    Greetings,

Got my new Thinkpad Yoga this week w pen/digitizer.

A few quick questions. Do note that I am surprised that there is absolutely zero paper documentation in my box. Wow! Where is the manual for this thing?

    Anyways, a few quick questions:

    1. I want to make recovery CDs using my external DVD writer. Can I do that? If not, and my hard drive crashes, how do I do the recovery?

    2. I would like to port video to projectors using two ways:

    a. HDMI output - what type of cord is it called? it seem to be a small port.

    b. VGA output - what type of adapter do I purchase for this?

    Thanks!

Since I have downloaded (more like upgraded) to Windows 7, is there a way to

    1. turn or auto screen rotations like it did in Windows 8?

    2. if option 1 is not possible, can I assign the lock button (the one next to volume buttons) as a screen rotation button?

    Thanks.

Its mini HDMI, the cables are on amazon for about 6 bucks for a 6 footer. They sell a hub for Ethernet and VGA on lenovos website, or you can find a USB adapter off the internet.

Just got my Lenovo thinkpad yoga in the mail. I got a digitizer even though it wasn't listed as having one. Thank you to every one in this thread for helping me with my choice. Now which Lenovo programs can I uninstall without screwing anything up?

    Hi guys,
here's my experience with my thinkpad yoga.

I bought it on December 2013. Reference is 20CDCTO1WW, the one with digitizer, core i5 and mechanical hard disk, card intel wireless N 7260
I almost immediately switched my hard disk with a 256 GB ssd.

I loved the concept at first sight, but after 10 months using it, I'm absolutely disappointed with the quality.

    My main issues :

    • Screen ghosting ! 10 seconds on a fixed image is enough to have it marked on my screen !! ex: I launch chrome full windowed. read a few pages .. When I reduce it, tab, address and bookmark bars are still here for long seconds .
    • Wi-fi drops. 1/3 times I wake up my pc, it's unable to connect back to my network. I have to restart the pc to have it connected ..
    • Touchpad is crap ... Sometimes It gets locked when I want to select something.
    • Some keyboard keys are stuck (I don't eat or drink over my pc :)). Keyboard quality is pretty acceptable at first, but some keys tend to stay stuck (like my space bar)

Could any of you confirm my issues ?
Anyone here had to with support and how were fixed the issues ?

Many thanks in advance for your help ..

Anyone else think that Thinkpad Yoga still blows all of these new 2014 IFA 2 in 1's out of the water?

Screw TP10. It's not fast enough.
Screw TP Helix 2. It's not fast enough. And not big enough and is inferior as a laptop. And no on board silo. And they stuck with a 5 MP camera so no decent document scanning/whiteboard annotation. And you can't connect multiple monitors to it and simultaneously use the tablet. Or might not be able to. I think it has to be docked to use the mini display port.

there's just two things that make TPYoga so much superior to these other 2 in 1's. It legit works as a laptop ergonomicaly. It legit works as a wacom tablet not as ergonomically but luckily the device prioritizes laptop mode over tablet mode.

I almost wish they had made a 12.5 inch thinkpad yoga helix. Like yoga + helix powers combined with captain planet. An 8 MP camera somewhere and swappable battery wouldn't have hurt.

Any chance of TPYoga getting a refresh someday?

    0. For non gaming, what are some example cases where I will notice upgrades in the graphics?

    1. What speces or hardware improves your wacom onenote creation experience the most?

I have disliked my onenote syncing experience between laptops and I feel that I want my onenote wacom computer to be my main work computer.

The T902 will have touch gestures and we will never have a wacom laptop device as powerful as it, correct?

I've loved my experience on my thinkpad yoga except
    - sometimes the camera upload dropbox takes a while and in those cases I would like an 8 MP camera somewhere. Unfortunately it seems I would have to get a slate to that and then lose a true adjustable laptop hinge.
    - thinkpad yoga's multiple screen performance could be better sometimes get stuttering streaming videos
    - removeable battery would be cool too. and longer battery would be cool
    - sometimes touch gestures stall or don't work until I restart my computer
    - sometimes wacom doesn't work until I restart my computer once or twice

And otherwise it has been fantastic. Wish I had gotten a TPyoga in 2013.

As for graphics, it depends on that you do with the tablet. My business use increasingly involves graphics. I do a fair amount of presentation, annotation and document manipulation in Acrobat Pro, downloading, editing and incorporation of infrared satellite images into documents, and electronic filing. The IGPU in my X301 is its biggest limitation. It is also the biggest weakness in my Atom powered AVN8.

I use onenote for note taking primarily. It gets most use on my Atom powered AVN8. I use Acrobat Pro XI for PDF annotation and for creating or manipulating text/graphic integrated documents.

I take all of my notes on my AVN8 and sync them to my X301. I haven't had any issues with the speed of the syncing but I rarely need to review my notes on my notebook immediately after taking them on my AVN8. I also don't add a lot of graphic images to my onenotes. I have been looking at the TPY as a replacement for my X301 for quite some time. My X301 keeps hanging in there, however. Even if I did replace my 13.3" notebook with a 13" or 12.5" convertible tablet, I would probably still take most of my notes on the AVN8.

You may be right about the T902. It is probably the highwater in convertible power and will be for a time. Considering its DGPU option and full powered "M" CPU series, there's really nothing like it. I have looked at these on the Fujitsu outlet going refurbished for under $1K.

I just picked up a Thinkpad Yoga ... i5-4300u w/ 4gb ram and 180gb ssd, has the digitizer and 3 years warranty standard for $899 Canadian, had to jump on the deal...

Only issue is I already notice slight ghosting of the windows start icon, I can see it slightly when im shutting down the computer on the solid red color background, yet to notice an issue in regular use but will this become a huge problem?

I was looking at getting on-site warranty for $89.99 for the 3 years (upgrade from depot service) ... will that cover me for replacing panels due to ghosting issues? im a student and cant go without my laptop and don't have money to waste lol, but I think the onsite is worth it for the panel issue?

Also, anything else I should know about tweaking out the box? I have done all the windows / Lenovo updates and everything is running nicely.

I got the onsite warranty as it will cover any issues with the panel such as extreme levels of image retention that won't ever go away etc.

The image retention hasn't bothered me at all after owning this since February and I have only experienced ghosting of the start icon and other task bar icons after being in desktop mode for a very long period of time when I am not using the laptop but the screen is on. When I am using the laptop I jump in and out of Modern apps so the image retention isn't an issue and otherwise my power settings turn off the screen before the image retention occurs. However I have noticed that when I keep the screen on and don't let the laptop sleep like while transferring files or torrenting, that is when I noticed the image retention but it doesn't bother me at all as it goes away quick enough.

I haven't experienced any of your issues besides image retention but mine is definitely within acceptable limits. Some panels are very severe with image retention and majority are still within acceptable limits to me anyways.

Acceptable limits means that when stuff does get stuck it disappears within a few seconds.

Your WiFi issue is one I haven't experienced but I do have the AC version so if you have the N version then I won't experience any of the same issues etc.
The touchpad is definitely the best trackpad I have ever used on a laptop besides stupid "Mouse acceleration" disabling itself on every reboot but that is a software niggle not hardware. The keyboard playing up may also mean your device has something wrong with it as that is definitely not normal and I can't even make my keys get stuck even if I try.

Unfortunately as you already most likely know, every panel is slightly different even if they have the same model number. Meaning my calibration, though perfect on my panel might not be as perfect on yours. So besides buying a screen calibrator which if your serious about using photoshop you really should as they aren't hugely expensive and last forever, there isn't much you can do. You could also try fiddling with the color sliders in the Intel graphics panel.

Screw on laptops are very easy to strip just like every other small modern device. You should really be a hell of a lo more careful when removing the screws and if they start to slip then stop and try either another screwdriver or using more force.

Have you had to use the on-site warranty for anything yet?

Im just a little worried at the level of service (ie. call tech about ghosting, get the run around about no panels available or something, or get a worse panel, or a limit to claims, idk..)..

Loving this so far though, this keyboard is amazing, coming from surface pro ... in LOVE lol.

Just went through support to replace the ghosting screen on the Thinkpad. Consumer support was awful with my Y2P, but for my ThinkPad Yoga they 1 day aired everything and essentially I had the machine out Thursday and back today (Monday).

Might need to hit them up again though, just realizing now that my down arrow is super mushy and doesnt click like the other keys.

In most laptops, memory and hdd (when memory isn't soldered in) it's fair game and under warranty.

Also, my fn key when I press the top right part on the LED flips up and unhinges. Does anybody elses do this?

Ha ha, mine doesn't come off, but it's totally less solid than pressing in the same place for any of the other keys. Never noticed that, but probably an affordance for that LED.

This just appeared on the Lenovo Support website - an FRU list for a supposed ThinkPad Yoga 14: http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/tp_yoga_14_fru_list.pdf

I don't see a pen in that list as compared to the regular TP Yoga's list - but seeing as how no machine larger than 13.3 inches exists with a Wacom digitizer ATM, it's probably expected.

    Also, I see Broadwell-U processors?

When my laptop wouldn't boot I had to pay postage to send it back to them. Can't remember now but it was between £25 - £30 non refundable even though it was a warranty problem. They ended up replacing the motherboard. On the problem form I had to fill I noted my laptop wouldn't boot and that I had an image retention issue hoping that I would get the screen looked at and possibly swapped. They just sent back the laptop and said they replaced the motherboard and the screen wasn't mentioned and was still the same. I couldn't be bothered to contact them again as I didn't wanna pay another £30 to send it back to them. Then to top it off when they sent my laptop back a small part of the logo was peeling off, from the "ThinkPad" logo in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard/touch pad area.

I think those are haswell processors. The support page shows drivers for intel hd 4400 graphics for the yoga 14 which would also support haswell rather than broadwell. Theres also pictures and no mention of pen capabilities. NVIDIA optimus drivers could point to dedicated graphics on this model. Shame its not broadwell and not wacom capable.

It will support both. Broadwell won´t be arround until January, so the initial release will be with Haswell. Later models with Broadwell.

The dedicated nVidia GPU will be the GeForce 840M according to the driver-readme.

Darn I really hope that they make a souped up Thinkpad Yoga refresh. Long or removeable battery/removeable battery keyboard. Camera for scanning.. I used to think Helix style was better

I have found it very surprising that I keep using random positions in various scenarios. And the thinkpad helix keyboard isn't wireless..

They can't make a helix yoga style can they? :D
Like after you connect the two pieces get a full yoga laptop?

Unneccesary, ThinkPad Helix already has all the Yoga modes (stand-mode, tent mode, tablet mode, Notebook mode). Just click-in the Tablet part the other way around.
