Lenovo W520 SHIPPING INFO

I'm with you there, the only part I consider reliable is when they say its on the truck for delivery that day, and even then I've had situations where I found out it was pure fiction (it had never been put on the truck at all). I ended up picking it up from their depot in those cases.

 

ups says out for delivery so i should be getting it today!

 

Lucky guys. AAaaand me too - mine just shipped 6 days ahead of schedule!

 

My second W520 is sitting at the UPS hub about 10 miles away so I have to wait until Monday to get it. I received the Intel 310 80GB mSATA today. I'll get the Kingston 1866Mhz ram and internal Lenovo modem the same day as the laptop. It's going to be a LONG weekend.

Well since all the Americans are finally getting their deliveries I hope that means that us Canadians should also get ours early next week.

 

I finally got the machine yesterday. But I found out that I cannot add Raid by myself. So disppointing. I need to return it back to lenovo. Is missing raid a valid reason to send it back without restocking fee?

 

I did. I wasn't charged a restocking fee. That's why the W520 coming on Monday is my second machine.

How did you proceed? I've already sent them a email. But it seems I won't get a reply until next monday. The call center is also closed in the weekend.

 

I called my rep to told her the problem, ordered a new system, and returned the old one. It was painless.

 

I ordered 4/13, received EOD 5/5. Long day of watching for the UPS truck. I'll post first impressions on the owner's thread.

 

Ordered mine on 5/3, was supposed to ship on 5/13 but ended up shipping on 5/8 with an ETA of 5/12!

Finally got a tracking number had o ask my rep. US gets much better tracking info. At least my order is in Canada hoping to receive soon

Mine is EXACTLY in the same situation, arrived midnight May 6th, processed by 7pm.

Now I'm wondering why there's no activity since then (and no indication what city it's in), the tracking is quite shoddy.

I'm in Mississauga, BTW.

I don't think Lenovo would have any other information besides what we are seeing. The tracking number was the only thing I was given today, when I called a CSR. Last Wednesday, I couldn't even get that tracking info.

 

I agree likely in the same shipment. If I had to guess I would say they are in toronto somewhere as it seems they have a lot of shipping centres.

If I had to guess I think I will get it tommorow or Wednesday

I think customs is somewhere near Toronto, and I'm in Toronto, so it's probably going to be here soon.

But, am I the only one noticing the 4.50 kg (~ 10lb) mass?

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I've also got a 4.50kg weight. It makes sense though. It's about 6lbs for the laptop, assume 2 for the charger/brick, and you can get a couple more pounds from the manuals and packaging.

 

Cool - this is good to know. I think I'm on the same shipment (or maybe a day or two behind), but I'm guessing it should show up soon. it's been shipping for a week, so I'd imagine it should arrive on the left side of Canada in a few days?

How do you track your order? I ordered online 2 days ago but havent received an email with any tracking number

 

Mine's 'stuck' in Mississauga. Origin Scan at 21:07 and nothing since. Oh wait...that's probably because it doesn't have to go anywhere else!

Tracking info now also says:

i live in canada I had to contact my rep for a tracking number you could also call the support line as well

 

Yep, mine says the same thing, too.
I'm boggled as to why mine went to Concord. It has to make like half a trip back towards Mississauga.

I called Lenovo customer service after 3 business days and they e-mailed me one. I think, otherwise, it has to arrive in Canada before you get the tracking number.

Mine's just got updated with a Departure Scan from Concord and by the looks of it will be delivered tomorrow. Can't wait!

 

I ordered mine on the eighth and the estimated ship date is the first of June. I'm hoping that it ships much sooner than that though. 24 days is kind of a long time.

I ordered my w520 on 5/5 and it shipped yesterday, 5/9. Tracking shows it is in Louisville, KY already. Looks like I'll have it before the end of the week. Woo!

E30kid - my estimated ship date was 5/27 so there is hope for an early ship. Also, I'm glad you were able to use the B&N gold discount that I came across.

I ordered my w520 on April 10th. I am still waiting as of May 10th. Lenovo cannot give me an estimated ship date and online it is stuck on April 25th.

That's awesome news that your laptop shipped in four days. It gives me hope that I will have mine much sooner than I expected.

So you called them and they can't give you an estimate? Have you thought about cancelling and ordering again?

 

Anyone got your W520 yet? Mine has been "Out for delivery" since 6:10, and I still don't have it yet. Getting really excited.

Gonna go clear off some desk space so I can put the W520 on my desk when it gets here.

still getting used to windows 7 and I hate how ie9 you cant put the menu bar on top but that is an ie9 issue not a laptop issue

 

Yes you can. Right click anywhere at the top of the window, then check "Menu bar" from the drop down list.

 

Seems mine has been stuck in KY for a a few days now.

I believe he means on top, above the tabs and address bar - which you cannot.

My personal opinion though is that IE9 is awesome. It finally brought me back from Chrome. IE6,IE7,IE8 sucked for me.

it will probably just take some getting used to but I really wish you could put the toolbars where you wanted

It means some documents needed to be forwarded to KY (from AK according to thinkpad faq) to clear customs. Mine just cleared and shipped to the airport hub. Can't be long now.

 

My laptop shipped today, according to Lenovo. Richard was right. I'll have more info by tomorrow morning.

 

Ordered mine on the 8th, and it shipped today. Given that the estimated ship date was 6/1, I am impressed.

 

Yeah, same here. I was so excited when I got the email. There I was, thinking that I would have to wait three weeks for the laptop to be shipped and now it should be here by the end of next week.

 

I ordered on April 10th. Still hasn't shipped. Still no estimated ship date from Lenovo. 25 buisness days and counting.

 

Pretty much close to a month for me:

Ordered April 15, 2011 with a ship date of May 11.

Received ship notification on May 2nd.

Arrived at the office almost two business weeks later, today May 13th.

Now - to burn some recovery disc and then rip the whole thing apart to install a couple of SSDs and another 12GB of ram! The only thing missing now is my Ultrabay adapter which (if the notebook shipping length is any indication) will probably be here in a weeks time.

Oh ya - some quick notes:

FHD screen - super glad I got this. I was worried that it might be too small, but it's awesome! "Loose Battery" issue - very very minor and I could see that if you're extra OCD it might be a big deal, but I don't think so in reality. The case is solid (and yes a little flexy at the bottom of the screen, but who cares!) and the keyboard is awesome. The textured trackpad will probably take a bit of getting used to but nothing serious.

Now - to get it set up and hopefully not have to deal with any issues...
