    RAM for y570 I believe is DDR3 1333MHz SO-DIMM PC3-10666

Here are some links I found:
    4GB G.Skill DDR3 So-DIMM SQ Series PC3-10666 1333MHz CL9 Single Laptop Memory Upgrade Module

Raysoc, you will have to order two 4GB sticks, there are 2x 2GB sticks in there now. I feel the 8GB is worth it on a 64bit OS, but I do a lot with my laptop as it is a direct desktop replacement for me.

Hmm well I said I had no headphone static on my Y470 before, but I might be hearing a bit now. It's only audible during complete silence so it's not a big deal though.

    @ kobby2k6

First open the bottom chassis of your laptop to check if you have 1x4GB or 2x2GB...after confirmed, make a decision whether you want to upgrade to 6GB or 8GB depending on situation.

First link for memory G. Skills is what I'd recommend. Good luck!

I would GREATLY appreciate any help with some issues I'm having with my y470!

When I press FN + Up/Down Arrow Keys to adjust the brightness, the brightness indicator that pops up (by Lenovo) is stuck at the third bar, even though the brightness does increase and decrease. Any fix?

Also, the change what closing the lid does option no longer appears on the left side of the window pane for power options. =/

FN + Up/Down Arrow Keys to adjust the brightness work with original Lenovo Intel Video driver. With the new drivers it seems that is not.

Go to control panel, then device manager... the ACPI lid device might have a yellow warning triangle... just delete the driver, restart, and it should re-install automatiocally

Anybody getting kind of slow boot up times? I've used the boot optimizer a couple times, but it just seems to speed it up to about 35-40 seconds for the first boot, but then it goes back up. My last boot up time was 2 minutes and 4 seconds.

I have been uninstalling programs to see if they are causing the slowness, but it hasn't done much. I have AVG Free installed, which I think may be the reason why it is slowed down. Does anybody know if this causes slow boot times? I've searched but couldn't find an answer.

I can confirm that on my Y470. I had the OEM Lenovo Intel Onboard Graphics Driver 8.15.10.2342 installed, and the FN + Up/Down Arrow Keys worked with the yellow video display "graph" moving. I upgraded to the 8.15.10.2509 driver, and the yellow brightness screen graph does not move, although the actual brightness increases/decreases as designed.

I have noticed degraded battery life, my laptop is about 2 months old and now the battery is now around 2 hours from a full charge. I'm going to calibrate my battery in a few minutes.

I'm disappointed that Lenovo did not include a more in-depth battery management software. I recommend BatteryCare from the link below to help keep track of charge cycles and recommended calibration times.

Basically any antivirus will slow down your boot up times... the only thing that is kind of worrying is why it slowed it down THAT much. Try uninstalling AVG, and rebooting twice. See how much that 'fixes' it.

280.26 drivers increased my 3dmark06 score by 100, probably would be a bit more because this time cpu score was lower by 12 points. downloading 285.36 beta drivers now, and ill give it a try.

I was wondering if anyone else with a y570 with the gt 555m is having difficulty booting Civilization 5? The game works for me just fine using integrated graphics (it's just sllloooooooww). I have the most recent drivers, directx, etc etc. Can anyone suggest anything?

I have googled and seached around the civ 5 forums but things that people have suggested have not worked for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You can only remove game profiles you create... those included in the driver are not removable... and why do you want to remove it in the first place?

had to uninstall/reinstall the nvidia drivers and re-add my game profiles. no worries. thanks anyways

my ee boot optimizer is constantly trying to optimize my computer. It boots up everytime I turn my computer on. Once it finishes it and loads to windows it will tell me that is finalizing and reboots and the cycle repeats nonstop. Any thoughts?

Not Really. For example, I noticed that there was a newer driver for the Intel HD Graphics. The Lenovo Y470 support page had the driver at 8.15.10.2342, and the Intel page listed 8.15.10.2509. I downloaded the newer 2509 driver, and installed it. A week later I noticed that the FN + Up/Down display graph would not move when adjusting the brightness level. I rolled back the video driver to 2342, and it once again worked as planned.

I could not live with the Lenovo Synaptics Pointing Device driver, 15.2.6.3. I needed the full functioning Touch Pad V7.2 properties. (you know, gliding, scrolling, and 2 finger operation). I installed the Scrybe update from the Synaptics site. Wow, what a difference! I can make the touch pad roll over, and sit up and beg.

In Lenovo's defense though, they have to receive the newer driver from the manufacturer, then customize it for their laptops. I'm not sure, but I think that after they mess with Intel's drivers, they have to send the driver back to Intel, for Intel's approval over the changes made by Lenovo. But don't quote me on that. I only know that most of the drivers on Lenovo's support site are not the "latest and greatest" drivers, as released by the non-Lenovo OEM's.

About Sata 3 compatibility, I've called Lenovo tech and they said the y470 is not sata 3 compatible... although the Intel HM65 Chipset does appear to support Sata 3, I read somewhere some manufactures i.e. lenovo, are disabling sata 3 compatibility. Anyone here install a funtional Sata 3 yet?

sorry for another post but please I need answers soon since I have a lot of work due over the weekend..

I am about to try a fresh install of windows ultimate on my Y470 and have a few questions?

1.What are the drivers for the FN keys to work properly (I read about some issues in the forums)

2.What are the drivers for the soft touch buttons that allow the computer to change the fan management (silent, stand, cool or dust) to work on a fresh install

    3. Is anything broken with your fresh install?

    4. Does the usb 3.0 work properly with the fresh install

    5. What are your best suggestion before fresh installing

    6. Does one key recovery still work with a fresh install

    7. Does optimus still work with a fresh install and how do you get it work.

Thanks and have a great day everyone

Broadcom Bluetooth, Broadcom LAN, Intel Chipset, Intel Graphics, Intel SATA, Intel WiFi, JMicron Reader, NVIDIA Graphics, Realtek Audio, Renasas USB and Synaptics TouchPad all have updates:

Pretty much all the latest drivers can be found here: page special drivers

Except for the NVIDIA Graphics driver which is found here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

All Lenovo proprietary drivers and software can be downloaded from Lenovo's website with the previous link posted.

Things you don't need on a fresh install:

Intel Wireless Display (not needed, requires special add on hardware)
Lenovo EE Boot Optimizer (useless in my opinion)
Veriface (if you like it reinstall but not needed)
Intel Management Engine Interface Driver (not needed)

Can someone help me with a problem please?

Recently I played GTA IV with default settings and after an hour of gameplay, my CPU Temp was around 90 C. Not long after, the computer automatically shuts down.

I ran several tests (with Energy Management - Balanced. Thermal Management - Efficient Thermal Dissipation)

Test 1: Real Temp 3.60 - Sensor Test
    Test 2: 3DMark 11 - Default Settings

    Do these temperatures look normal?
Can someone with the same configuration to run these tests and post results?

I am trying to decide whether to send or not my laptop back to Lenovo to see what's wrong...

    (Lenovo Y570. i5-2410M 2.30GHz 1333MHz 3MB. NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB. 500GB 5400. 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz)
