I've tried to send Lenovo an email regarding the wifi problems, but no answer. Sent an email to where I bought the PC, I guess they will take it back for service.. But this network card is HOPELESS.

I have the same 7260 card. I bought my laptop without os. I have installed a fresh copy of win 8.1 and downloaded the latest drivers from intel website. No problems with the card so far.

For the owners of 7260 with issues, check this thread(though don't get your hopes up, more complains than solutions): http://forum.notebookreview.com/networking-wireless/716325-intel-7260-a.html

My networking experience with the Y50:
I also have the 7260 but I don't have any problems with it so far except sometimes when the laptop wake up the card won't connect to any network unless I disable/enable it, not a big deal for me. I believe I use the latest drivers from Intel(custom installation, install all features - something the people with issues could try?) or maybe the ones before, not really sure, I haven't touched the card advanced properties for now, everything on default.
The card link at 300mbps, currently on 5Ghz network(but I used 2.4Ghz for two months without any issues), samba transfer over wireless from a desktop using wifi Netgear usb stick are around 100mbps(10-12MBps), no drops when watching video over the LAN. I don't do online gaming or streaming over the Internet(except occasional youtube clips and similar) so I don't know how well it would handle it.
Note that 99% of usage is done with the laptop plugged in and almost without moving it around the house.

    OS: Windows7 x64 Pro

I have tried with all the different intel drivers from intel.com and microsoft signed drivers, but it's not working. I downloaded the smallest drivers, 20MB and not those that are 70-80MB. Do you mean that we should download the 70-80MB drivers and install?

Is there a way I can monitor data traffic and see how the wireless network drops out every minute so I can show you? Perhaps with FTP or something, and just watch the task manager network stats... I need to test this problem with something else than CS:GO and LoL, but that shouldn't be a problem.

I believe I used the full software package and installed everything. I don't know if that will help you, I'm just saying its something you could try.
There are a lot of network monitors out there, pick one. By the way could you try CS:Go with bots(i.e. offline play) and see if you still experience drops? That would confirm network issues..

Yeah I tried with bots yesterday, that really confirmed the network issue. I'll download the full package from Intel's website. Maybe I'll try the drivers from Lenovo aswell, if there is any difference?

Here is a picture showing the network drop/stop/"putWordHere":
    network speed.jpg

This happened almost precisely one minute earlier, I need to use another tool to show you that.

To check my network I open a command prompt window and enter:
    "ping -t www.google.com"

** Enter it without the quotes.
It will show info about connecting to the specified site, and if there's some lagging.
When there's no connection you'll see a timeout message.

If there's something else with your network configuration you'll see a different message.

Yes thanks, I can run it and see if I can see a drop or higher ping. Do you think there is a property that makes the wirelss card refresh itself every minute? Any idea why it drops?

edit: one request timed out, and the ping went from 70ms to 180 then 10 seconds later to 313,555,487ms. The back to 66ms for 1 minute, then 485,402,296ms and suddenly 66ms.

There are a bunch of threads and post all over the internet but no conclusive information on the reason or solution(though everybody blame the drivers).
As for the settings you can try the tips from here though the wireless card mentioned is a different one.

Thanks, I tried to find these properties but I didn't manage to find all.. Anyway, it didn't work so good.
Now I try to connect to the 2,4GHz network, this is my ping:

You can do the same test by plugging your laptop network card to your router and see the difference in timings.
Also, if you can get another laptop, run the same through the laptop wireless card.

If the timings are steadier (not having such a high jump in ms) in the other laptop, then your laptop wireless card (or drivers) are the problem.

It is not a solution, but at least you're narrowing where the issue may lay.

This IS a issue with the Lenovo Y50 - no other device have any trouble on this network... But what you say is a good method for troubleshooting, but I have already got to this point :)

So I repasted the GPU and the temps haven't gone over 62 in dota so far with maxed out settings and vsync off so I'm guessing it was the paste. I'll post a follow up in a day or so.

I have removed some of the Lenovo applications that was installed on the computer, but the power management system and stuff is still installed. However, I tried to shutdown many of the processes from task manager, which I didn't think was needed.
Now I ping google I think:

Much more stable on 2,4GHz, with Lenovo drivers, and stoped many processes from task mananger. Interesting.

One or some processes you stopped were causing the lag.
You could restart the laptop, the processes will run again, do the test again and if the signal is irregular you can stop processes one by one until you find the one(s) causing conflict.

It's not completely gone I'm afraid. But it's much better at least! I'll try to stop one process at a time and check the pinging, going to get a solution to this nightmare.

Actually if you read some of the links I've posted and if you do your own research you'll find out this is an issue with Intel AC7260. Don't get me wrong, the Y50 is far from perfect however in this case judging by what I find online the problem is with the card.

You can sort by "Network" on the task manager and find the process consuming more network resources, those are the ones raising your ping and the ones that should be closed or uninstalled.

Well, it might be good for demanding applications to the network, but the applications I stoped are small and are not using any network resources worth noticing. So the tool is not useful for me in this case I'm afraid. However it seems to me that the Lenovo-drivers from their website are more stable than any other driver I tried. Also after restarting the PC and with the other processes running the network drops was reduced. I'm still waiitng for an answer from the webshop and from Lenovo, both seem to be avoiding me at the moment..

Totally off the topic of everything being discussed in the passed few pages, but I figured I'd let you guys know.
Windex is your best friend to fix the fingerprints. Do half a squirt directly on the lid, get a paper towel and spread it around wiping it and at the end the fingerprints are gone completely making it look beautiful.

Any info about Y50 and Nvidia new GTX960/970 compatibility, meaning that Lenovo will refresh that line very soon after releasing it with old videocards?

Very worst....worst service I ever had...I purchased Lenovo Ideapad series before 3 month, now I am having hard-disk issue, bad sectors on hard-disk due to which my laptop becomes very slow. To listen a single song, it takes 3-4 minutes to open a media player..its a brand new laptop..

I contacted service center people, they are too lazy.. never attend you properly and shows the attitude. They are never ready to listen what your problem or complaint is..worst worst worst...never go for Lenovo...

Well thats it: I'm going to return this computer. I can't use the laptop as a laptop any longer, even on 2,4GHz the computer lose or has limited access to the network, where my iPhone and other devices are perfectly OK. I liked the computer overall, however I'm not going to miss the keyboard, mousepad or the network card. OVER AND OUT.

    Hi, quick question:
I'm trying to connect conventional speakers to the combined audio jack on my Y50. I have the latest Realtek audio drivers installed, and I get a popup "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". However, I don't get a popup asking me "Which device did you plug in?", and a lot of static on the speakers. Plugging in a combined device works fine. Could it be possible that the sound card in the Y50 does not support jack detection?

I'd really appreciate if someone can give me feedback on this. Is there anyone who successfully plugged in normal speakers into the audio port?

Or maybe yes, they use to do this, for example on the Y500 they refreshed the GT-650M to a GT-750M like 6 months after release. They also refreshed Y510p GT-750M to GT-755M around the same time. So it would be normal if they do it on the Y50 too.

Why is my video playback crap? Only youtube is smooth. Every other site (streaming mainly) is choppy and stuttered? I think all my drivers are up-to-date. Should I be using my 860m for all video processes?

I got the Lenovo Y50 4K Touch from Microsoft earlier in the week. Minecraft plays awfully... I tried running PlanetSide 2 at all different combinations of settings and resolutions, but to no avail. The highest FPS I got during battles was 17fps and there was constant fluctuation. Today I ran Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai at 4K Resolution and it was just absolutely stunning. The only time I experienced a drop in FPS was when I zoomed in on the troops, but that only lasted for a second or two where it then went back to a normal fps. I plan on doing more game testing before I make a final judgement.

Does anyone have any tips for running Planetside 2 and Minecraft? I keep reading that everyone else is able to run Planetside 2 at high settings, but I've had no luck.

Can anyone with 7260 AC and Windows 8.1 try to ping websites, for example "ping facebook.com - t" , and see what average ping you have. Then watch what happen when you click on left click your wireless connection on the start menu, and the available networks appear on the right side of the screen. With me the ping go from 30ms to 103, 223,227,230 ms and back to 27ms! Every time I click that icon!

Yeah I see that too. Must be something the system is doing when that screen is open. Mine goes from 50 to 300-500 each time.

Y50 seems great for me so far, looking at the i5 4200h + 860m UHD version. I'd like to ask a few questons though so I can be sure:

-How's the portability/build quality? Reviews seem to be positive but I'd like to hear from people who have owned this laptop for a while.
-Is the i5 sufficient? I won't be using it for rendering or anything, but I want to play games on this laptop. I believe the most CPU intensive ones would be various Total War games and Planetside 2, will I be able to run them at 1080p?.
-I'll be installing either a clean W7 or W8.1 on this, any large issues with this? Might also dual boot with Ubuntu so if anyone has any experience with this please share.
-The version I'm looking at only has a 1TB HDD, not an SSD. I'm thinking of upgrading it to an SSD in a year or two when I gather some more money, but until then, is the HDD decent? Compared to other HDDs, I've never used a SSD.
