you can also conside sager np8268s..... more powerful machine with an 870m and superbb cooling... a little bulky... but 870m makes it up for the loss.....

Does any body else have issues with Bluetooth?
It worked fine for two days and now it has suddenly stopped working, I can't even find the option in control panel.
I performed a factory reset and the issue still persists.

In my research I found that this issue has been occurring for quite some time on the Yoga Pro 2

Can comeone tell me more about these sage laptops? Are they good especially this one sager np8268s.
-
What about at the lowest brightness? Assuming you can still see the screen contents?
-
screen : awesome
looks: meh! Not so cool... looks kinda boring
keyboard : awesome
weight : lol awesome.. nearly 3 kgs..
thickness : 1.6 inches..... if you dont mind the weight and dont have use of blu ray den buy it, select normal dvd drive from options instead of blu ray and the buy an msata from newegg or somewhere and hook it up in it ... you have a super fast beast with killer performance but average looks... -
So can the battery be easily removed? I normally take my batteries out of my laptops if they're going to be plugged in for a while. But it looks like a built-in battery...good/bad? Does the laptop come with software that manages battery charge to maximize battery life due to charge/discharge cycles?
-
That's awesome but compared to y50? Would you guys go with y50 or the sager?
-
Ran a gameplay/benchmark on Battlefield Hardline Beta (2GB GTX860m Maxwell). Runs the game smooth like butter and a constant 60FPS on High Settings.

The sager competes with the msi gt60... More Than the y50...

Now only those two laptops count for me but i don't know which one should i get.
I like lenovo because of its sleek design and thinnes, great cooling, good performance and nice pair of speakers (and woofer).
Sager has even better performance, 4 drives can fit in there instead of one, good cooling, low noise (y50 too), multicolor iluminated keyboard and better screen. -
-
Why not just plug and unplug if from the power socket, I really don't see the point of removing the battery just to save charge cycles. -
So only y50 or sager np8268s. -
anyone have this issue with the TouchPad?
I disabled the TouchPad (FN key + F6) but once restart, it is automatic turned on again! very annoying...
It seems like Windows doesn't remember my settings! -
My issue wasn't like what you're describing though. For me, it connected every single time without issue (even automatically with the syncing from my other win8 computer). Once connected, Windows showed a solid connection however websites and games refused to load anything or were too slow to be usable. Moving the computer to a different location helped for a few minutes but it just did the same thing. Never actually dropped the wi-fi connection though. Very weird. -

so maybe end of august
the y50 4k appears to be glossy, if you want a matte screen you will have to go for g551 and you wouldnt "need to get 4k" in order to have ips - you can also choose fhd model (what i will do) -
I would've bought the Y50 right away if I didn't see these complaints about the screen in the base model ( I can't afford anything more than the newegg one)
..
so you think G551 will be expensive than Y50 when it's released? (which is $1150 on newegg)
if so I might as well buy Y50 or G/N550JK right now -
-
don't forget, with G551 you will have several options like i5/i7, SSD/HDD, 4k non-4k, etc etc. So the base model should be around G550JK when it comes out in a couple of months
here the specs (see you can choose between many different ones)
http://www.notebookcheck.com/fileadmin/Notebooks/News/_nc2/asus_G551_01.jpg
don't forget, g551 is only comparable to the y50 if you don't mind bulkiness -
G/N550JK is around $1099..and uses the GTX850M ddr3 which is a significantly weaker GPU..
I don't mind the size of the laptop..I even considered G750JM once..I like Y50 for it's GTX860M at a low price..but the screen puts me off
Never thought buying a laptop is this frustrating -

Isn't this the Owners Thread where we only talk about the Y50? I thought the thread creator made this thread to sort actual Y50 information from the "should I buy Asus" or "please advise what I should get" type questions.

Hey guys I'm planning to upgrade the ram on my Y50 once I get it but, the problem is I've never opened up a laptop before. So could any of you who have opened up your Y50's and upgraded the ram please give me some advice on how to do it? Thanks!

Anyone else having micro freezes or frame skips? When playing CS:GO (also in LoL) my fps is about 120 and then it would dip to 90 then back to 120 right away and cause my frame to skip.
It's been really bugging me now that I have been noticing it. Could anyone help me out here? I am also on the stock graphic card driver could that be why? I know a few other users have reported this problem also ): -
I'm actually having the same problem. Hopefully it's just drivers and not something we can fix.
-
-
-High performance power mode turned on in power settings
-Turn off windows defender
-Turn off or pause wallpaper changing (this was a big one for me....Had it set to change every few min and every time it did, my fps in BF4 would drop down to high 30s for a second, and then go back up to 50-60.
-If you have an external monitor, pull it up and bring up task manager. Sort by CPU, and see if any process or service pops up when you experience the FPS drop.
-Use nvidia inspector or MSI afterburner to see if your mem speed, core clocks or GPU utilization are suddenly decreasing when the stutter happens. This one you can easily run in the background and Alt-tab out of CS:GO as soon as you notice the frame drop. -
After updating my my nvidia driver to 377.88, CS GO runs a lot smoother but the occasional frame skip is still there but happens a lot less often. It maybe happens once every 3 rounds where before it happened about 3-4 times every round. -
After playing around with the display settings for a bit, I was able to get noticeably better colors.
My settings(Change in Intel properties>Display>Color)
Brightness-"-5"
Contrast-"50"
Gamma-"1.2"
Set to "Picture Mode" in Onekey Theater or Lenovo Settingsalaskajoel, kingfirejet and Lycaenops like this. -
For people who bought the laptop from Lenovo Canada's website, does it come with the crappy bilingual keyboard with the small left shift key?

My review, I have the Base NON-Touch model, I have removed the HDD and replaced with a Samsung 512gb 840. I have done a complete refresh of Windows 8.1 and installed only necessary drivers. I have NOT done the work around for the Nvidia drivers yet.
Battery Life: Decent/Bad
- The battery life is around 3.5-4 hours just browsing/word/etc...
- The battery life is around 2 hours if playing games/watching movies, it is somewhat annoying that you cannot watch an entire 2+ hour long movie without the battery dying. I may need to look into this further
- Battery life was not overly important to me since this computer will be in my home for most of the time
Screen: Decent
- The screen overall is not great, it doesn't have the best colors, seems a little pixelated IMO (I'm not an expert by any means) but it is not as crisp as even my old m11x R2
- The screen has GOOD viewing angles, I was able to go outside on my deck and actually be able to see things on the screen, something I could NOT do on any laptop I have ever owned
- Bright/looks "okay" in movies, nothing to brag about but looks okay
Overall Build: Good
- The body itself is not flush, this slightly drives me nuts, if you run your finger from the top of the palm rest down to the bottom, there is a slight lip. I wish they would have made the bottom panel flush with the top, so you would only feel a butt-joint as opposed to a cliff
- The inside of this is clean, well built, and easy to remove parts IMO, I have taken apart every laptop almost down to the barebones and this one wasn't the worst
Cooling: Great
- I would say that mine does not get hot, you can have it on your lap and not burn your nutsack off, even while light gaming/movies are happening. It has pretty decent cooling/fans.
- Doesn't get warm on the palm rest like many laptops do
Overall Design: Good
- Keyboard is good looking. The backlight is VERY well designed. It is one of the best keyboards I have ever typed on.
- The track pad is AWFUL. I HATE IT. I hate everything about the track pad, it is TOO big, it is slippery and inaccurate. It always is clumsily causing me to do shortcuts in windows 8. I MISS MY M11X DIMPLED/TEXTURED TRACK PAD!!!! It is simply much too big and slippery IMO!
- It is light for what it can do, It is VERY VERY thin, I love the thinness and the ability to carry it around. It is slightly bigger than my last portable laptop m11x (4.4lb) but it is not a burden by any means. It won't be a terrible laptop to carry around/travel with in my backpack
- Port layout is not my favorite, the USB ports are close together with the ethernet and the display ports. I would have liked to have a couple more (maybe 1-2 more) usb 3.0 ports.
Gaming - Great
- Works great in every game I have thrown at it. I am used to the switchable graphics and would say that It works as good as any other laptop. This can do more than I had hoped for in BF/League of Legends/ETC
- Speakers/Sound/Audio seems to be above average in my opinion. I have talked via the mic across skype and listened to music with both the speakers and the headphone jack. My headphone jack has no whine/cracklign like some have reported and it seems to be above average IMO, I am not an audiophile or w.e
Things I haven't tried yet:
- Camera
- High demand gaming both CPU/GPU wise
- Extending the battery as long as possible
- Windows 7 ( Windows 8.1 seems to be working out with startisback, although the idea that skype is different in two different places is very annoying) -
so can i replace the TN with IPS? is there any bad effect? is this resolve the problem about the display? the warranty doesn't really concern me
