Latest info says the U430p will go on sale on October 29, and that the U430 will also be available at some unknown time.
As always, take it with a grain of salt.

hey i would like to ask, can whoever own u430 tell me what is the size of recovery partition? coz i have formatted whole hdd, and one key recovery is not working anymore. thanks!
-
There seems to be no official way to get this again to work for a fully cleared hdd. The easiest solution may to be to recovery a backup.
-
Is it released yet?
-
It probably depends on the country where you live. In slovakia i have bought u430p in mid september, but now its not available in slovakia anymore, dont know why. Maybe they were selling some pre models or whatever, coz first piece was faulty, second which i got is quite fine but the trackpad seems to be badly installed, one edge is is not properly in the case so its little bit flexed.
And the thing with the recovery, i know that there is no official way, even people who own yoga 13 and were using official lenovo partition fix which should fix messy partitioning lost the ability to use one key recovery, and lenovo said that they are not responsible for that.
dunno what to think about that. So the reason why i was asking someone to tell me the size of recovery partition was that i read that one key recovery malfunction is caused by changing the size of recovery partition, so i want to try the unofficial way and create that partition and see if it work or not.

Somebody can confirm if this laptop have an mSATA or M2 SSD connector on the board for Flash HDD and if can be replaced with bigger ones to install OS on it ?!
-
I just talked to a rep today and he said "We are very sorry for the inconvenience. I can assure you this product will be available by the end of this month." Also, according to the rep, it will be available with a 1TB HDD and 16GB mSATA. The highest version will include a GT 730M and FHD non IPS display. Unfortunately, removing the back cover to swap the HDD is going to void the warranty
Duh. Still not confident of getting it anytime soon. -
Check the laws from your country. On some countries they have marked terms like this as illegal and not valid.

AAAAANNNNNDDDDD screw this crap, I'm out. TN in 2013...seriously? And voiding the warranty to replace a stupid hard drive? Not worth it for a gt730m. Time to move on to better things.
On a side note did you get any info on what the top processor with gt730m will be? -
The sales rep doesn't know a thing. There isn't a single display manufacturer in the world which produces a full HD 14 inch TN panel. If it's a 14 inch display panel with a resolution of 1080p, then it's an IPS or AHVA (similar to IPS) panel.

Well it doesn't help us that it seems like it will never be released. I also saw a u430 touch (which I assume has the same basic build quality) in BestBuy. It's not that good. If it's build quality you're after this thing can't really stand up to stuff from Apple or Asus. That being said, neither really offer anything in the same class so I guess it's a matter of win some/lose some.
-
It's a budget ultrabook. What do you expect? At least it has decent performance, display and battery life.
If you want something more durable get a T440s. -
Whats the difference between the one at best buy and the one you guys are waiting for? Also whats the difference in the u430p?
-
Frapp I really want to believe you, any evidence to back this up?
-
From what i can see the biggest difference the u430p will have discrete graphics, GT 730M. Another I difference I hope would be overall better quality machine. Like it was said previously the current u430 at bestbuy is pretty bad quality, I saw it myself and agree. The whole system just looks "blah". I hope the new model will change that. The other difference is it will offer better processors too.
Has anybody come across reviews for the u430p other than the old u430 ones? -
u430p will most likely share a chassis with the u430, so if you are expecting better build, look elsewhere. There is always the T440s, though expensive. Y410p is also there, but rather bulky.
-
Considering all the T440 models use different chassis, there's no reason to assume the U430p will be the same as the U430.
-
I had bought a U430 from best buy and returned it the same day. I knew that I would have to get used to the crappy display, but QC issues, like the touch pad feeling loose, forced me to not give this PC a chance. I think that the case felt pretty nice to be honest, except for the issues that I mentioned.

Hey guys, I accidentally came by at this
Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch 59393236 W8 (Article no. 90531993) - Laptops / Notebooks - computeruniverse
Looking at the specs, it features GT730M and 1080p display. So is this U430P or what? -
I'd call them and ask. I have never heard of these guys before, they don't look 100% legit (based on the looks of their website).
-
Yeah, that looks like the U430p with an i5-4200U.
-
I can confirm that they are quite strong in Europe and always have new products... I want to buy the U430P, but will have to call them and ask
-
I bought it from Best Buy last week and also got a loose-feeling touchpad. I exchanged it for another that feels really solid with no shaking/looseness. Build quality doesn't seem to be uniform.
-
Might be similar to the U430 Touch that is sold in Saudia Arabia,
IdeaPad U430 Touch | 14" Multitouch Ultrabook | Lenovo (SA)
It is not listed as "u430p" but still has the GT 730M. -
The sales rep was a little backward with information, I guess. The rep "thinks" it will be a i5-4258U, though he doesn't know for sure until the laptop is out.
-
Lenovo sales reps are not the most valid sources of information out there.
-
Can anyone do a battery test on this? I'm confused between this and the 13" MBA. I don't really game, but I do some video editing once in a while. Would be glad if anyone could advice.
-
is computeruniverse completely legit to order from the US?
at this point im tired of lenovo. the chat reps are absolutely clueless. the u430 touch was supposed to come out in september on the website then it got completely scrapped. now ive been waiting for the u430p to change from "coming soon" status for over 3 weeks now. its so disappointing.
i want this machine because i dont need the best build quality, but it has the specs i want in the right form factor. im at the point where i may just buy it from this german website...will it have an english keyboard and everything or would i run into problems by buying the machine from europe? comes out to about $1100 total for me after shipping which really isn't that bad. has the 256GB SSD i was hoping for.
has anyone heard anything from lenovo? a rep told me a few days ago that he thinks black friday, then another one today told me he "has no idea". really lame they can't even figure out release dates for the public and get their machines ready. delay after delay. -
It's annoying me too. Seems like this laptop will never be released. Most likely a German version will have a German keyboard.
There's still no laptop on the market that ticks all of my checkmarks. The u430p would do that, so I guess I'm just gonna keep waiting... -
I'm also sitting twiddling my thumbs. The U430p (non touch) seems to have the right combination of features I'm looking for, but it's nowhere to be seen. The T440/T440s looks pretty good also, but the U430p should check the same boxes for me and cost less. I guess I will just keep waiting impatiently.
-
I just know that, whenever it's released, it's going to underwhelm me somehow. Like I won't be able to get the configuration I want. I've already resigned myself to not being able to pair a 730M with an i5-4258U, but I'm certain something else will be wrong. Maybe I won't be able to put a touchscreen on the one I want, or maybe I'll be forced to spend extra money on a small SSD that I was just gonna replace myself. And I'm REALLY hoping I can actually get it in red. It looks so nice in the pictures.
-
Hey hey, it's now for sale, but unfortunately only the base version with an i3 and a low-res screen are available. I wouldn't be surprised if the delay was due (at least in part) to supply issues of the 28W CPUs, and they finally decided to just roll out what they could.
IdeaPad U430p | Thin and Light 14" Laptops and Ultrabooks | Lenovo (US) -
You can't upgrade it in any fashion. As usual, the rep I spoke with concerning potential future configurations was less than helpful.
At least it comes in red. -
Hey guys, just signed up because I've been watching this topic for a while. I talked to a sales representative online about the beefier U430p specs they had when it was "Coming Soon". She had told me that models with the Nvidia graphics might come out soon but not at this moment. Take that however you'd like because I don't know how true that is. I've been really interested in this laptop and hopefully they add models that aren't as weak as the current one.
I LOVE the red color. It looks so nice! You'd also have the coolest laptop out of anyone else. Who makes red laptops nowadays? No one, I say! -
Well, that's not gonna happen. That's a giant bucket of FAIL right there.
-
Yeah, it's a POS right now. I'm actually even more annoyed than I was before it went on sale, because now I don't know if it will EVER come in a configuration that I would actually buy.
-
What do you guys recommend over the U430 for $700ish? I just got one at Best Buy yesterday, but I agree. The screen is less than stellar. The trackpad isn't as nice as my girlfriends Macbook, but she also did spend more than double what I did. Do you guys recommend Asus at all at this price point? I've got 15 days to return this if I want. Thanks guys! My first post!
-
Especially since they change the tech specs "tab" and it no longer lists anything but what comes on the "stripped" base system. Without a FHD screen I won't even consider the U430p. The inability to get a longer warranty is also pretty much a non-starter as well.
However, I see that the other U models aren't really buildable in same sense that you can build a something like a T440, nor do some of them offer longer warranties. -
Hey Lenovo: **** YOU!!
Who the heck knows now if it's even going to come in the additional specs that were listed before. Can't believe they release it with such horrible specs and now take away the better specs, leaving us now absolutely clueless if we should even bother waiting for something that might now not release.
I'm sick and tired of this blatant BS and lack of any helpful knowledge from this company. Whatever, I'm taking my money over to the HP Spectre 13, and although it won't have dedicated graphics, it looks a hell of a lot better then the u430p, and I am disgusted by Lenovo's waiting game and horrible information updates. It's pathetic -
Yeah. It's quite a shame to not know what is going to happen. I just went through three Samsung Ativ Book 8's with display issues because I was done waiting for this one to show up in the store. Now that it finally does, the specs are worse than the ones they were showing before! At this point I don't know if it's better to just wait it out or not...
-
Not to mention the Best Buy exclusive U430 Touch system has better specs and is a fair bit cheaper.
-
So, what are the chances of Lenovo adding a model with dedicated graphics? I mean, I've seen models I'd absolutely jump on if I was given the chance on sale for other countries. So what's the deal here? It seems nearly impossible to find a nice laptop with a touchscreen and dedicated graphics...
-
Within a reasonable price, that is.
-
Oh yes, this too. The only two decent looking ones (An ASUS and Samsung laptop) are really expensive. HP IMO isn't worth the money you'd spend, even if they have a model or two that has touchscreen/dedicated graphics. Not a real fan of their build quality...
-
Probably about the same as them offering the FHD screen they originally advertised. I was hoping for a U430p with FHD, non touch, and the Intel 5100 Iris graphics. However, I do have concerns that the lack of dual channel memory on the U430p would cripple the 5100 Iris graphics. Single channel memory shows some performance impact even on the HD 4400 graphics.
-
I was just told that models with different specs will be available in 2 weeks. Let's hope they're actually telling the truth this time.
-
With their absolutely horrible track record so far on the U430p continuing to give them the benefit of the doubt seems a bit like Stockholm syndrome.
I may buy something else by then. -
U430 (non-p), Clevo W740SU, Thinkpad T440s all come to mind.
-
The HP Elitebook 840 G1 has captured my interest. More USB3 ports and dual channel memory but it's not cheap.
-
Hi. I'm looking to purchase an ultrabook for <800$. This laptop is on my list. Can you guys recommend any other laptops? I have to buy by end of November.
Also, can someone link me to a 8GB RAM stick I could upgrade to? I'm not sure what RAM will be compatible with this...
Thanks!
