Recent T61 Ship Dates...and so forth

Guys i just called ...my initial ESD was 8/8 and now they moved it to 8/15...dont know y ....its similar to to "vaw"s config...but not exactly the same ..this sucks man....

 

tedthemechanik, why did you bother to call them? Unnecessary calls may cause troubles

 

I hope that will be the last reason they wud do that ........nyways ..i called to get a price match on another piece ...thot will check ..only to realize its delayed even further .....

 

Did they send an email notice about the delay?

 

Called up to apply a cheaper quote I received more recently. The person I spoke to said that it will probably ship within 30 days (so around 08/20 -- which is still cutting it close to when I was originally hoping to receive it by 08/23) but I doubt that is actually true... now I just hope it ships by the ESD on the website (09/05).

 

No ..they dint send any email ..and my quote on the link they sent initially shows still an ESD of 8/8..

 

The woman I spoke with on the phone said that I was supposed to have received an e-mail, and that in my account she saw an e-mail was sent explaining that there were delays and to expect it in 1-30 days etc. however I never received an e-mail either.

 

This does indeed suck.

My page still says 8/8 but with hurricane season in full swing I m not sure I want to risk it.

I'm almost considering canceling and ordering from Dell's refurb site.

I guess I'll give it til 8/8 and if it hasn't left by that date, I'm cancelling.

 

I just got off the phone w/ a rep... bad news (at least for me). Apparently the ESD on my T61 (placed on 7/12th w/ ESD of 7/31/07) has been delayed to "at the latest" the first week of August citing the shortage of supply with the 15.4" widescreen. Can anyone w/ the same order date call to see if this is a widespread issue? Excuse my French, but if it gets delayed more, I'm just going to cancel the damn thing.

I don't understand why Lenovo can't get its supply chain in line. When I ordered my R60 last year they had the same issues, they constantly delay orders and its killing their sales I bet. Hopefully I get it fairly soon to the start of school.

I talked to Lenovo direct sales, and they say its the WXGA+ that's the problem. Its backordered from the factory for about 6 weeks. The guy says I could get the WXGA one in two weeks, but I decided to wait for the WXGA+ (its brighter). He also says that might be a conservative estimate and it could ship in 3-4 weeks. I hope so.

 

Wow, don't know how you got that all that info, the people I spoke to knew nothing, although I suspected from the website that it was the WXGA+ :-(

 

He wasn't a regular sales guy, he's in Direct Sales. I got his extension because Lenovo charged me twice for my order, and I wanted to speak with someone higher up.

Ordered 5/22, rebooked June 12, ESD for new is 8/1. Hasn't shipped.

What BLOWS is for my rebooking (rep did it) I have to pay 20 bucks for shipping, and it's STANDARD. So here I am 2 months after ordering, no laptop, and when it does ship I have the privilege of paying 20 bucks for the slowest method possible when it was free for 2 day before.

Anyone else have a similar config to this one and radically different ship date? It seems like most of you guys are ordering the 14"ers.

Anyone think this thing is likely to get shipped sooner than the ESD?

Order Status page listed an ESD of 9/10/07. I go to school on 8/24 so I called them up and they told me the delay was the screen only, and the only ones available are WXGA, but that my order should ship between 8/8 and 8/15. Later I received an email confirmation stating my order should ship 8/8 with expedited 2 day shipping for free. I didn't even complain, I just asked if there was any way to possibly get it before school. So far they've been very helpful.

Now, the million dollar question, should I believe the CSR that I spoke to/the CSR that emailed me (they were two different CSRs) and expect it, or prepare for the worst and expect a September ship date?

Awesome! Mine shipped yesterday too, if I understand this correctly. My specs are earlier in this thread, ordered on 07/03 and the ESD was 07/20, ESD changed to 09/05, but shipped on 07/25.

 

No kidding.. I think Dell had that as delaying your order too. WTF, do I only order the rare parts or what? WTF world, I just wanted a freaking computer 2 months ago, it's not that hard is it?

 

I originally thought it was the WXGA+ that was the problem as well, but mine just shipped and it had a WXGA+ screen, so I'm doubtful that the WXGA+ was actually the problem.

Usually with UPS you get an estimated delivery date, I'm not finding one on the UPS tracking page.

tedthemechanik & deferry, Did you both order a 14.1' or the 15.4'? Since we all ordered on the same day, mine should ship soon then. Mine was a 15.4'.

 

I ordered the 14", 7300 CPU and 100 GB 7200 RPM HD, no Bluetooth and XP Pro. Everything else was stock.

 

I ordered 14'' ...and WXGA ....80 Gb 5400 ....probably its the WXGA ...that made things faster ....coz i have seen somewhere in the forum ..with same order date and same ESD for WXGA ..and they got it shipped around yesterday

 

Oh, I see now. Well, I guess I will continue to wait.

 

Damn, my canceled order has also been shipped. Ordered 7/21, ESD 8/8, canceled 7/26, shipped and billed 7/28.

 

It's now scheduled for delivery to me tomorrow

Two days from HK, 10 days from order, it's hard to complain about that.

AND - I have the 14" WGXA+ w/camera, 160G HD, both supposedly bad items in terms of delivery time. What's going on? I guess I should be happy since the machine is built 5 weeks ahead of time. I'm going to be out of town all next week so I'm glad I had it sent to my work.

I guess they got their shipment of WXGA+ panels even though there were rumors of a 6-week delay. I still can't believe it. Anyone else with a similar config see an update in their order status?
