Does it seem like the 15.4" T61s are taking longer than the 14"ers?

Cheer up Give it a couple more days and see what happens. The 14" WXGA+ orders are just starting to trickle in. (I don't know what to think any more of the 14" vs 15" shipping speed, and I don't think the rumors on this board amount to anything)

 

I don't think it does. I ordered the 14" wxga+, Nvidia 140m, 100BG 7200rpm" on 7/12. It shipped on 7/29 and is estimated for a 8/01 delivery.

 

Umm.. yeah over the past 69 days since I've ordered I've had a few discussions

 

I think that's where the problem lies...

I don't think there's any conspiracy, or people being punished just because they call for status. Lenovo is just very inconsistent - some orders take months to fulfill, others go out within a couple days. My first order (placed 7/9) never seemed to go anywhere, but my latest order went through in 10 days. (Although I must say, I never called for status...)

EDIT: I'll also add that I never changed an order or updated it in anyway, just canceled if I wasn't happy with the config or if the price had fallen. Latest order was at the time of the stackable 10% coupon.

 

dang, I ordered a 14" T61 WXGA+ on 7/20 with an ESD of 9/5............but it hasn't shipped. I hope mine will at some point, what else would delay it other than the WXGA+?

 

Its really weird. I've been browsing here for the last few days since I ordered, expecting a long delay on my order.

Oddly enough, I called customer service this morning to complain about how I was mislead about the 6 cell battery. I talked to a CSR before ordering (and before I knew about this place and read the faq). He said the 6cell didn't stick out the back so I ordered with that.

Turns out he was probably thinking the 15" T61. Since I felt mislead, I was trying to adjust my order to get the 7cell, but decided against it as it would lead to further delays. I'm glad I didn't change it.

I'll get the 7cell later anyway as a second battery.

 

I have pretty much the same config as opiepac but mine hasn't shipped..............doh, I am tired of waiting. This is the third time ordering a T61; I originally ordered on 5/9

for those of you whose systems have been shipped (ari_m, others), did you have the configuration details visible in the order status page?

 

For the first couple days I had full order status & build details, then all of a sudden it all went away.

It's all very suspicious, but I suppose I won't know what's inside until I open the box! To have an ESD of 9/5 and then ship it on 7/30 - I don't know what's going on at Lenovo. It would help everyone if they could be more accurate with the estimates.

 

My case was the same as ari_m's; the build details went away a day or two after I placed my order.

For those who used the free shipping and whose orders have shipped: have you checked your shipment details? What are your delivery times? Mine says 8/1/2007, which seems oddly fast for standard UPS ground, given that the package is still in Hong Kong. Also, next to service it says 'express'.

 

That's the great thing about "ground" shipping from Hong Kong... there is no "ground" between Hong Kong and the US so it always ends up being expedited. I guess UPS figures that if it has to fly a package from Asia to Kentucky it might as well fly it the rest of the way within the US.

 

I haven't called everyday or anything, I think I called a couple times, and I've had a specific rep helping me out over email, and of course because of that I've never been belligerent or anything to him. So I highly doubt they'd intentionally f with me to potentially lose 1400 bucks in sales.

To me it looks like only the T61's with 14.1 inches are shipping. I have not seen any with T61 15.4' or T61p ship in the last two weeks. It is either the 15.4' inch screen or the wireless USB holding up progress.

Well if you try to build one now, the 14.1 + screens are delaying it more than 4 weeks.

I made one a few days ago on a R61 but it says in my car to expect shipping on 9/13 ? *shrug

 

Saneless, I think Lenovo has handed you an exceptionally raw deal. It seems like you ordered ages ago and are still waiting for your machine. I can't believe they haven't bumped you up to the front of the line, given you free batteries, free laptop bag, bumper stickers etc.

It seems that everyone who ordered the 14" models around 7/20 are now starting to see them ship. Camera, WGXA+ and 160HD don't seem to be factors any more. The 4-week warning on the website seems bogus to me - 10 days from start to finish!

 

Man, you guys might be giving me false hope. Hopefully mine ships early, but no big deal if not -- as long as it's worth the wait.

Looks like they got the WSXGA+ screens on backorder.

I ordered the 14.1+ screen, which they told me is on backorder, but this is just getting rediculous, and it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get on the phone with anyone from Lenovo.
I talked to a sales rep to try and cancel my order but was talked out of it, but now he won't return my phone calls etc.

I'm really starting to get disappointed with this company.

 

I called and talked to some Lenovo guy I could barely understand today. He said the 15.4" WSXGA screens are back ordered, and that is what is causing the delay.

He also said that ESDs are routinely set one week later than when they actually expect to ship because "It's better to promise late and deliver early than to promise early and deliver late".

Whatever, I just wish they hired phone reps that spoke English (and that they had parts in stock for the notebooks they're selling...).

So I guess my status is something like:

ESD: 8-21 (hoping for one week sooner, 8-14)

Called the order status line. Talk to someone from India, they all now have American names,(Anthony, Lenovo, Shirley,Christopher)but they are hard to understand. He asked me if I received a email from Lenovo, told him no. Then he said my order should ship on 08/22/07. The email question kind of got me concerned. So, I called back and waited for a sales rep. Got a American, he asked me if I was a stockholder. I told him yeah, some of my Mutual Funds invest in IBM.(Ordered through the SPP) So, he tells me that my order should ship by next Tuesday. That he would put his number on my order and keep me KEEP UP with my order and KEEP ME INFORMED AS TO THE STATUS OF MY ORDER. Got an email from him.

Not to rub salt in your wound, but i ordered 8 days after you and also got the 14.1+ screen w/o camera, and my order shipped on the 7/27 and is due to arrive 08/01...originally my ESD was 8/29/07. I'm thinking it had to be something else in your config that is holding it up. I ordered with discrete graphics and 100GB 7200rpm.
