Hmmm.. so have we concluded that it's the 140m that's delaying the T61s?

 

Nope, I have Intel's graphics and mine's been delayed.

What about Intel wireless? Doubt that'd do it but that's really the only difference.

Anyone recommend a different company to go through? HP is crap and more expensive than lenovo! Not sure I want a dell though I can be talked into it if their BUSINESS class stuff is ready and good priced.

I'm starting to think I should just buy a $500 machine, throw on XP, and buy a real one in a year

They say theres a constraint on the 14 inch wide LCD thats causing the delay I don't think I can get it in time for school (

 

After lenovo screwed up my previous orders, I forced them to put me on the critical list. Apparently, putting on CL makes my order to be built much faster than normal.

Just got off the phone with a Lenovo Rep and she said there's some kind of worldwide shortage on 14.1" WXGA+ screens.

 

This sucks Maybe I should just cancel my order and get a HP or something for school

i'm also in need of a laptop before sept labour day! ugh!.. what to do... dell d630? inspiron 1420? is every manufacturer having issues with 14" screens?

I believe the shortage of 14 + screens is with everyone, not just lenovo. So unless you want to get one without it, you're probably going to wait anywhere.

I've just been without a laptop since June 15 and it sucks! My only PC is my desktop, and I'm at my house literally 5 hours a week, and my gf has some old dell that's barely usable. I think I browse more on my blackberry.

Yay! A fellow blackberry user, I will tell you what, I have been waiting for my T61p for so long I have been doing the same thing. Have you tried getting internet through your blackberry onto your computer with the modem? I have never tried and I was wondering if you knew how it worked.

The most maddening thing about this situation is that apparently some people are randomly delayed, and the sales reps are obviously full of s#$% because they're telling us the 15.4" screens are backordered, yet they continue to ship them to some people...

Also, is it just me, or is WXGA+ no longer an option for 14.1 T61s on the Lenovo site? I just dropped by there, and it seems to be missing from the customization pages. That doesn't seem like a good sign.

 

Maybe its because of the Nvidia 140m graphics option? I dont know, but if anything, I think its a sign that its just a matter of days when our laptops start shipping (i hope).

Anyone ever get the code DIAD MISSORT from UPS? Well, it happened to me.

My T61 was supposed to get delivered today - it was out for delivery, and I was stuck in a 3-hour meeting. When I got back to my desk I looked at the order status:

Do you know what that means? They put it on the wrong truck! At first I thought they had let some stranger named Diad Missort sign for it.

Unbelievable! I called of course and they said they'll call back in an hour whether I can go pick it up from their sorting center myself, otherwise they'll try again tomorrow.

I called this morning and talked to a rep in India...she told me there was an "error in my order" in their system. She wasn't able to tell me what the error was but she told me that if I called back next week they might have some more details!

I promptly hung up on her and called back and got a North American rep. And amazingly it was pretty much the same story from him. Ugh.

I'll call again on my drive to work tomorrow, but this is definitely obnoxious.

 

Would UPS allow someone other than the addressee to sign for delivery?

 

Hey, I live in Canada and I brought a T61 with visaperk. I ordered it on July 11 and I still havent recieve my laptop yet. Now, they r saying that it will be delayed to September. I am so freaking piss cuz I am goin to be in University. Should I cancel or r there any other advices?

 

Yes, they do. My laptop was delivered later in the afternoon and someone else signed for it.

Congrats for your T61 In that case I'll have to tell my neighbors not to sign for me, since I think it's better to have them ship it back because the CS supervisor told me he processed credit to me.

 

Yes... I have often signed for someone else and UPS asks my name but never seems to note it down anywhere. Maybe they have good memories.

Still, it's better than DHL... I've had a valuable DHL delivery that was supposed to have been signed for just left on my doorstep before. Luckily no-one swiped it.

 

I gotta call and harass them tomorrow for mine...

I seem to remember a few guys earlier in the thread who ordered theirs on the 27th and they got shipped on the 30th, but I'm pretty sure none of the ones ordered on the 28th or later have shipped yet.

"14inch widescreen panels are on worldwide constraint, and are not expected in stock for 5-6 weeks."
