Read the T430 thread over there. They already pulled the offending BIOS. It bricked those PCs.

I'm sympathetic to what you're saying, but I can't interpret some of those posts in any other way than that the files were broken when they were installed through Update.

the best luck I had tracking mine (which should be in my little paws on Monday) is through the link they sent by email... I didn't always have luck getting back to that same status from my account info.. (or at least it took a while for it to work from the account info)

It's possible Lenovo set up their site to help control the volume of orders :D.... People are still ordering in spite of their site, so why fix it if it's broken just enough?

when you order the device the shop tells you to look at
    https://www.findmyorder.com
for your status. however you won't get any important information there since its not being updated (at least with my order)..

Thanks. I've been using the OVB portal.
I (re)ordered November 25th and mine shipped today. I ordered both the FHD screen and Nvidia graphics.
Not sure if I should be curious/worried the order will be wrong or components bad or relieved it actually shipped..

I also ordered 11/25 and just got notified that mine shipped. I did not have the FHD screen or Nvidia graphics, but I did opt for the Intel wireless, which was the other thing apparently in short supply. (Thankfully I checked before and discovered that the default does not have linux drivers.) Original estimated shipping data was 12/13, bumped up to 12/12, then back to 12/13. But mine has been a lot more consistent than it sounds like a lot of you have had.
Either way, it was going to arrive home before me so it doesn't make a difference.

    From the order confirmation email,
where "Lenovo's Order Status" is a live link.

I have been watching that and it seems to work. It showed the tracking of the hard drive bay through to delivery, and for the laptop itself, it showed a change in shipment/delivery dates one time. Still holding steady at 12/23. Ordered 12/5. That period is consistent with what ccol wrote above, about 18 days from order to shipment.

Okay, sh-t has hit the fan... Shipping date is now 24th of December...

Ordered on 15th November, first delayed to 6th of December, then 12th, now 24th... I really got pissed off and told them I wanted a discount (if I order now it would be much cheaper says the website, I told her that) or I would want to cancel. She is going to do her best and will let me know in three working days if it's accepted. I'm even thinking about getting another brand or waiting a bit longer for other laptops to start selling... The damn thing hasn't been assembled yet and it's already almost outdated!

FYI: FHD IPS panel, Intel AC wifi, Nvidia graphics, i7-4700MQ.

Geez, somebody show some pictures or say something nice about your new laptop.

My T440p estimated ship date just got pushed from Dec. 16 to Dec. 24. That sucks, not least because with the holidays it'll take several extra days to get to me. Still, I hold out hope that it might ship earlier and at least Lenovo offered me 5% credit on the order if it doesn't get to me by the holidays.

Pity the poor suckers who order a T440p today and see (and believe) the estimated ship date of Dec. 27.

Just received this email from Lenovo:

    "Dear Lenovo Customer,

During our daily review of our customer orders, we were informed by our manufacturing team that there is a risk that your order may not arrive in time for the Holidays. We are doing everything we can to minimize this risk and ship your order in time, but we believe that open communication is the best thing to do in this situation.
    ....

In the event that we miss the delivery date, Lenovo will apply a 5% credit to your order once it ships.
    Sincerely,

    Lenovo Customer Service
    Raleigh, North Carolina"

If I hadn't already bought (and received) an Ultra Dock and a bay adapter I'd probably have canceled my order for the computer after receiving that same email as @unlucky today

Anyone else having trouble with actually tracking the package? I can see that it has shipped from the Lenovo page, but over a day later UPS is still saying that the tracking number is invalid or doesn't exist.

With my order it's the opposite. Digital River status page shows no update since my order on NOV 12th. I got my UPS tracking number from the hotline 3 days ago. It took UPS about 12 hours to be aware of the number (I guess they are updating in 12 or 24hr intervals). Strangely my order seems to be stuck at Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong, status: "Origin Scan" for three days now according to UPS! I guess they're waiting for other cargo. The Lenovo Hotline also told me it would take at least 7-10 workdays (2 whole weeks!!!) for shipping and delivery!

Btw. the german lenovo page says if you order your device now will be delivered on time for x-mas. How can this be if shipping alone takes up to two weeks???!!!! Well some religions celebrate xmas 2 weeks later or so. For them it might work out and lenovo is legally in the clear :D

I'm glad I ordered mine less than 24 hours after they started selling. Mine was ordered October 30th, shipped November 5th and received November 11th! I've been enjoying it greatly since my only other recently made laptop is a 17.3" beast of a gaming machine. It's so nice to have such a small, light computer with so much power.

I gotta quit reading the Lenovo forum. There are some scary threads there about the T440s and a lot of problems.

Do.not.want manufacturing or QC issues on the 440p line.

It definitely makes gaming feel smoother than with the iGPU. I threw Minecraft on for a quick test because of how taxing it is on non-gaming machines. With iGPU I was getting around 120 FPS, and 200 with the 730m. I need to rerun the Futuremark benchmarks after the latest update since they had trouble identifying CPU & GPU before, which should be fixed now. But I trust real gaming much more as a test than benchmark software. I'll load more games on... What should I try on it? (I have like 600+ games on Steam)

That's pretty much true of most forums. People come to complain about various issues, and not too many post positive experiences.

Keep your eyes open and fingers crossed.

As for the LF, I've been on it for six years now and have yet to see a ThinkPad - and that means ANY ThinkPad - that people were not complaining about, one way or another.

Follow your gut and common sense, that's all one can do.

    Happy shopping.

Yes forums definitely serve to amplify problems. When I post message on forums like this it's usually because I'm either looking for information or looking for a solution to a problem. And even if I'm looking for information, very often it's information about potential problems I'm after :D

Well, then I doubt it will be that long. Last week, an ultra bay that I ordered for my own T440p (which hasn't shipped yet), was shipped and delivered in the LA area in under 48 hours. I ordered a T430 in October that was delivered in the Sacramento area in about 60 hours.

They ship out of Hong Kong and go to Anchorage, where there is a distro. Figure your device is going to go from there to the Louisville hub instead of So Cal. Give them another day to get to you from there, and you're still looking at probably Wednesday next week instead of the 23rd. Unless weather grounds airplanes.

Those delivery times are probably only for US customers. From HK to EU (Germany) shipping takes much more time. My T440p arrived in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 4 days ago. Today it arrived in DXB (Dubai). Thats 4 days for one hub. So I guess 7-10 work days for shipping the Lenovo support told me were not so far off after all....

Wondering again about that, why does it take them so long to get into the EU?

So are most people going for the i7 4700mq or the dual core i5 4330m? I just found out that the quad core cpu's need a rather large 135w adapter. Although I'm definitely going for dedicated graphics, I'm not sure if the quad core cpu is worth it in performance, being more expensive, larger adapter, and uses more battery.

I do have StarCraft II, but I'm locked out because my old authenticator needs to be removed from my account. I've started working with Blizzard support... hopefully I can get that benchmark done in the next couple of days.

I don't own Bioshock Infinite, Super Street Fighter IV or Dark Souls yet. I usually wait for the huge sales, and Christmas/New Years may give me the opportunity to add these to my collection.

In the meantime, here are some 3DMark scores: Ice Storm on default settings and Ice Storm Extreme after changing to 1920x1080.

When I look in online stores and threads, I see different weights mentioned. Could the people who do already have it post the weight of their T440p?
If it stays under 2kg I'm going to get the 4700MQ with 16GB and put an 512 SSD in it myself :)

I ordered on the 2nd of December and received my shipping notice today. That makes a 13-day wait for shipping. According to the UPS description of the shipping type, the package should arrive on or before the 23rd. It must be frustrating for those of you who are having a bad building/shipping experience. In my case, it needed to arrive before an extended trip at the beginning of the year and so far (knock on wood) everything looks good for me.

I got the i5-4200M, FHD screen, 7260 ac wireless, and nVidia graphics.

[Update] Delivery now set for the 19th.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some shipments are delayed and others aren't. Seriously, Lenovo could probably have done better using untrained monkeys to assemble computers.
