To the people who have received their 15.4" w/140M: how accurate are they on the shipping dates? I ordered 7/27 and expected delivery is 8/29. I hope I can get it next week

Parts Lookup doesn't work, but I downloaded PC Wizard and it told me the model number of my LCD. An LG. Yes, there is SLIGHT sparkle, but probably only because I was looking for it. Probably just an inherent trait of a matte screen anyway. I am pretty sure this one is a keeper. Minimal light bleed, about what's expected from a laptop. The ugly dithering effect that added horizontal lines on my Samsung is not present ONE BIT on this screen.

Keyboard, well it is definitely not a Chicony. Feels much much different than my first one. I'm guessing an Alps. It's very comfortable, but kind of hard to type on. But it's nice.

Only complaint is the plastic at the left of my keyboard is somewhat loose. I'll probably tighten some screws, but if it doesn't do anything, I don't care. I never touch that part anyway.

I got an ALPS keyboard and a Toshiba Mitshibusi LCD (SXGA+) Vista feels great, little sluggish but I'm sure that will cure up with a fresh install. If anyone has any questions or wants to see pictures of a 14.1" SXGA+ T61 let me know

I got a stuck pixel on the top right hand corner of my screen. I know for a fact that its a stuck pixel and not a dead one because its a constant shade of red. I tried tapping it, rubbing it, using stuck pixel software all to no success.

Is this month really May? Lol...

Anyway, you guys think I should ask them to repair or replace my screen? Its just a single pixel, top right hand, and everything else is fine. I just want your opinions on this.

Its mostly red on most of the color spectrums, but turns black and blends in with a black background, sometimes turns black on some colors, not sure if its really stuck or it could be just dead.

At least your notebooks have shipped you guys. You guys are pretty fortunate. Other people (like me) are still waiting for our notebooks to be shipped.

For the people who have received their notebooks, are the T61 any good? :)

Do you mind telling us how much the pre-configured model was? It might be worth it to those who need something shipped quickly.

I can't remember if you have WSXGA+ or not somedude, but I believe it is 16 pixels to get anything replaced. WXGA is something like 10-12... somebody else could post the link, I'm too lazy to search for it :p

Parts list still isn't working for me, but I'm encouraged some of you have LG's. Hopefully, after ordering 5 T6x, I'll see something besides a Samsung panel! They rot!

Please keep the comments coming in if you've received your 15.4in 140m T61...

Just got home and plugged mine in. Haven't powered up yet.

So definitely have the Alps keyboard. Have we come to a firm conclusion on the LCD FRU 42T0329? Parts look up works for me now.

So you did have the FRU as 42T0329 and it still turned out to be a LG? Just wanted to confirm...Thanks...I'm in the same department as you...i have a 42T0329 T61 wxga+ coming my way

This is definetly an interesting turn of events...having a FRU 42T0329 of samsung...but PC wizard says LG...i wonder which is correct

Since parts lookup works my screen is:

42T0328 42T0329 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES

Isn't this the same one somedude has? And PC Wizard says LG? Hmm eh. Maybe they reused the part number from the T60 on the T61 only it means LG on the T61 and Samsung on the T60. That seems reasonable but maybe wrong.

    My keyboard is:

    42T3177 42T3209 KEYBOARD FRU YES

I can't find a solid answer on my keyboard. Can anyone help. This link says its NMB:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=140779

    Then this page says alps:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=125886

I really don't know. Both are about T61s so *shrug*. What do you think? LG/Alps would be cool with me though.

Looks like you're getting the samsung screen just as me..i have the same FRU..I hope it is just a mixup and we both end up with LG screens

.however I have a 42T3273 KEYBOARD FRU which is chicony...I did some reasearch on your keyboard FRU and found conflicting statements...i guess the surefire way is to lift it up a little and use that one page with the pictures as a guide

    I have this keyboard: 42T3209

    And this LCD : 42T0329

PC wizard 2007 says LCD Manufacturer: LTN154P2-LO5

I dunno what the hell I got. I guess I'll peak under the keys now...

Somedude - where does it say LG? I just get LTN154P2-LO5

eyecon - I don't know what to think yet. I can't claim to be an LCD connoisseur. I'm def not blown away by it.

Stallen, what keyboard did you determine that you have? You have the same keyboard FRU I do.

Also this is getting weird with somedude and stallen having the same screen FRU but different screens.

Stallen, what do you think of the screen/keyboard/computer in general? Does your screen have sparkle? Blue tint? Dead pixels? Stuck pixels? Does you laptop have any problems or annoyances?

Stallen, where did your laptop ship out of?

    Mine was:

    KOWLOON BAY,
    HK 08/15/2007 4:20 P.M. PICKUP SCAN

And I think I saw two others ship out of Shenzen (or something like that). It's very likley that two laptops shipping out of the same area have similar parts.

I think it's totally livable now that I think about it....you may be much worse off getting a brand new laptop which may have many more problems than 1 dead pixel

My first T61 had two stuck pixels and one dead pixel. I hate dead/stuck pixels but my opinion of them all depends on where they are and whether they're stuck or dead. For instance a dead pixel on my task bar would go unnoticed since it's black anyway.

I think I have a dead or suck or maybe even lit pixel??? When I go to http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html and use their dead pixel finder I there is one pixel on the right side that will either be white/black/red. I havn't seen it in normal use and I can't see it against any backgrounds except for the tests on that website, go figure. What do you think this is? If its not able to be seen I guess I shouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for your input guys. Makes me feel a little better knowing that imperfect LCD screens are not all that uncommon. Besides, how many times can they make a screen with 1,764,000 pefect pixels?

By the way, xnviews, do you still own your first T61?

Honestly..when i get my notebook..I'm not even going to run that test...why know you have a dead pixel if 'you' can't see it....However, I will change my wallpaper all black, white, to see shadows, leakage, and fading away of colors...but other than that...I'm going to leave it alone...Now I kind of wish I never stumbled upon these boards...im worried about my samsung 15.4 wxga+ coming my way and the chicony KB..stupid summer vacation...wish I had better things to do

Sounds to me like its a stuck pixel. My stuck pixel will blend in with a black background nicely (it basically is black), but shows up red on most other color spectrums. If your stuck pixel is somewhere you cant notice it right away, like in my case, I think you will be ok.

By the way, have you tried tapping or rubbing on the place of the dead pixel?
