T61 Delayed

I've been waiting since May 24 for mine. Oh well, I guess I'll pass the time by typing gibberish:

Lenovo is ridiculous. I ordered mine on May 12... still waiting as well.

 

May 10th ordered and not scheduled to ship until June 29th. I'm ordering a D630 next week as I'm not willing to wait for more than six weeks to ship.

it's ridiculous for Lenovo to claim these problems are specific issues with the T61
their problems are EVERYWHERE

 

I suspect the delay is because these are now being built at the crappy compal plant that builds the Dell Inspirons (whey do you think the T61 is so cheap?).

Dell gets higher priority there than lenovo.

 

For goodness sake, stop trolling about the crappiness of Compal already. Sheesh. The delays are affecting other Thinkpad models too, including your precious non-Compal ones.

 

Has anyone received their T61 with a Thinkpad AGN wireless card? I noticed that it is no longer a choice when ordering. I have a bad feeling that this is going to be the new item that will cause delays.

I ordered on May 9th. This is sure a slap in the face for trying to be in the bleeding edge.

 

KcKevin, it wouldn't shock me if that happened. I ordered the Thinkpad AGN card on May 11th as well and it worries me that it is no longer on the site. We haven't seen anyone with that wireless card who has receiver their computer. I want to call them and tell them I don't care whether it's the intel or thinkpad AGN card, but I don't think that would do anything.

 

So glad I canceled my order, I really do enjoy my X60s. And I have had it for a couple weeks were as I probably wouldn't have received my T61 yet.

 

I called (1:10 hold time) to see if the Thinkpad AGN wireless card would cause any additional delays. The CSR claimed it is not the cause of any delays. Of course, see kept referring to my wireless card as my video card (I spec'd the NVidia) and I had to keep correcting her.

She also said that all the backlogged T61 should be shipped by the end of next week (that sure sounds later that the 26th that we have all been promised).

 

I called about the AGN card as well kevin. The customer rep kept assuring me that the thinkpad AGN card would not cause any further delays. He better be right about that.

 

Called Lenovo just now. I order June 1st, and the estimated shipping date is June 20th. The rep told me it would be shipped in the early july. That definitely upset me! Here's my spec

started a new job today, the new Dell 830 has been waiting for me for many days, and I ordered the T61 for myself on the same day I asked my boss to order the D830 for me. When will I get my T61?

 

any chance the people that arent getting any responses, MeyersEPP customers? I havent had a problem with email delays. My rep and critical responds to me within 24 hours at the worst. Most of the time i hear back in 1-2 hours.

 

I did not order under the MeyersEPP and I have issues getting a response. The interesting thing is they had not problem responding to the freebie email reply. That I got a response from within 24 hours. Its the two emails where I am asking where the laptop is that have been ignored.

 

ok there goes that theory. they might not be answering those kind of questions because they dont have an answer. tims absence from his own blog is a good sign that they have no answer to give

 

as of Monday afternoon, June 18th, my order still shows it will be shipped tomorrow but I have a feeling once that date rolls around the ship date will move out to a much later date. I've asked numerous times if I can get an accurate date because the one on the status page is system generated and isn't accurate. Of course the response was it's scheduled to ship tomorrow. I mean come on...someone has to know the real deal...the real ship date.

 

no, they really dont know here. I guess the assembly line guy in china would know, but they wouldnt care. my rep told me 26th is the new ESD even though my online order shows today.

 

What really hurts is the hard drive in my X31 that I was replacing with a T61 died and although I do have a back up, the only drive I have is a 4200rpm at half the size. So at least I have something to use. I didn't order from the EPP and it takes more than a week to get a respnose from the sales rep, and that is like one out of three emails get a response. My ship date is still June 29th; the third day, June 13th got pushed back.

I'm considering moving to Dell D630- purely from a financial standpoint. Their prices have gone lower since. Or, I might just wait until the July 4th sale to choose between T61 or D630. Either way, my order now is taking way too damn long.

 

Ok.. in my last post, I said they changed my ship date (Z61) yesterday to 6/28/07. As it turns out, I can't read.

I called Lenovo today, I was on hold for 2.5 HOURS!!!!

The lady says "hi, how can i help you"

my response "I sure hope you can ive been waiting on hold long enough"

My Order says 08/03/07, but the lady on the phone insisted 4-5 times [because i asked her that many] that it would have the laptop in my hands by the second week of july, and that the 8/3 date is a computer error.

My comment: "Why havent you fixed the error"

Her Response: "The we arrr trying sirr"

I asked her as to why the delay, keep in mind the site says this:

she said all the screens are on backorder and the camera does not delay shipment, odd... hmmm

When I ordered the laptop on the 12th, the card transaction went through on my bank recieved it as pending, now, 6 days later the transaction is gone and my money is back in my account, did anyone else have this happen?

 

Ya so they just delayed mine and said in the email that the new estimate is for the next 30 days. Well why did it change to august, that is not the next thirty days. I don't want to hear anything about this "bug" cause I know that is not the case.

I think I'm just gonna order off reseller, the only thing i miss out on is the camera and thats not a big deal at all.

 

Are May 9th- May 24th orders going to be affected by this backorder on the screens. They better have put aside the parts needed to make our notebooks, especially considering all the people that ordered after us who have got their computers already.

 

Fair enough. Either way, I'll likely be dead.

In other news, today's ESD (#4 if your counting) says 7/9/07.. So technically that's an improvement from 2107.

 

This happened to me, too. When I asked my Lenovo sales rep, he said that they don't take the money out until the unit has shipped (and therefore ship as quickly as possible... ha).

Here is an update from Tim Supples on lenovoblogs. It's not much but it's something....

"I know you all are itching for an update and I apologize for not interacting more regularly with everyone. I have been monitoring the comments and as new questions come up, I make note of them so that we can address everyone’s concerns.

I am working to get an update live to everyone soon, but I did want to clarify one point quickly. Most of the orders affected here that still show an August ESD are incorrect. I have early information that indicates WWAN parts are constrained right now, so people who have ordered WWAN are showing an August ESD and that is the best information we have on that availability at this time. Most everyone else with an August ESD, please understand it is not correct.

Stay tuned for more information folks. I know your patience is long gone, and rightly so, but we have made a lot of progress in getting these orders fixed.

I ordered on June 11th and the website told me June 22nd was the ship date. The status link I received then said my ship date was 8/02.

According to the Lenovo rep the 8/02 date is a cosmetic issue and the 22nd is the correct date. Can anyone else confirm this?

 

Who knows, since you ordered on June 11th you'll probably recieve it before people that ordered on May 11th, like myself. Lenovo likes to work backwards.

Seriously though, nobody really knows what is going on with these lenovo shipping dates. It's basically a coin flip, but if the pattern that has been going on follows I would think your computer should ship soon

I finally gave up and ordered a Dell. Never encountered such bad service trying to pay someone and give them my business. Lenovo's incompetence is mind boggling.

Hahaha, I'm almost there with you! I don't have a clue about Lenovo as a business but when you buy a premium product you expect premium service as well. Lenovo doesn't seem to understand this.

I fear that Lenovo is just going to keep cutting costs until Thinkpads are no different than Averatecs.

I don't want a gaming laptop.

I don't want a 17' glossy screen.

I don't want a cute laptop.

Give me an ugly tank of a laptop with good service and I'll pay a $400 premium over a Dell with the same specs; give me a THINKPAD!

Get your damn supply-chain in order, there's no reason for any company to take more than 3 days to snap together a laptop.

 

One more thing I want to rant about...

Isn't it kind of a smack in the face that Lenovo has the balls to offer overnight and air shipping? Is that a joke? I can see the value if it's 1 day vs 3 days. But who would spend an extra $60 to get their laptop in 72 days instead of 74 days?

 

I totally understand your frustration but I just wanted to throw out there that while lenovo needs to understand that they are dealing with consumers with many of these orders this is not the usual way they do business. When ever I do equipment orders with a business for machines most companies take between 1 to 3 months to ship the products to us. That seems to be the norm for business shipping, so from a business perspective this is totally normal.

 

This is just getting ridiculous now...I'm canceling my order today and ordering either a T60/T61 from a reseller.

Any one have particular reasons to go with one over the other? All these stories of blue screens and build quality are swaying me towards a T60 (plus I can still get a SXGA+ 14" screen).

 

I believe you Cayden, I'm not an IT guy so I've never ordered for a company. My company only buys Thinkpads and they've always been great but all service issues are handled by our in-house IT, I've never had to deal with IBM/Lenovo directly. My T61 order is only the 2nd time I've ordered a Thinkpad for personal use but the last time I did 10 years ago I got my computer in less than a week.

In that 10 years I've bought probably 11-12 laptops (I've broken a few and had one stolen 2 weeks after I got it) and I don't ever remember waiting like this.

I usually don't buy quality either! We're talking Dells and Averatecs and other no-name garbage! It really bothers me when the one time I decide to treat myself and buy a quality laptop I run into this fiasco!

I might go back to sub-$700 laptops that work and arrive a day after you order them. Sure they don't last a year but they're cheap and nearly disposable!

Meyers EPP fiasco. ugh. so they say it will ship on August 9th. i hope that's just the same bug again or something. i had heard that all the shipping dates on the status page were bogus. this better ship in 2-3 weeks like it initially said.

I ordered on May 30th, the last day of the Memorial Day Sale. I forgot to add Turbo Memory, so I called back on June 1st. They updated it. Instead of giving me the 25% sale, they had trouble with their system, so now they will charge me full, and then minus the amount after it ships. I will make sure this happens.

Original Ship date was 06/20/07. Now, I received an email about another delay of 1-30 days.

What is Lenovo thinking

I re-ordered on JUN 1st (config change) and my ESD is the 20th as well. Last week I emailed my CSR and he confirmed me (again) the machine should ship on time.
I have not received the email of 1-30 days new delay but I'm afraid I will...
Did you ask for integrated cam + Nvidia 140M?
