T61 Delayed

I posted this in another thread and I realized that it would be better here:

"I called again to cancel my order and the person I talked to seemed to imply that it was already cancelled (which it was) but it wasn't taken offline. This could possibly be why it took some people days for it to be taken offline. One person was saying that you shouldn't accept "a couple days" as an answer, but maybe they cancel it right away but it takes a few days to go offline?"

 

I bought through EPP. The estimated shipping date of my first order on 5/23 was delayed until August so I canceled it on 6/15. Then I placed another ordered on 6/17, now it was shipped on 6/23

nice! apparently mine shipped today. ordered on 6/18, only after my original order EPP order from 5/24 was canceled. havent gotten the email yet, but the status has changed on the order status page. kinda weird since i called them on friday and the CSR said my laptop would only ship in 4-5 weeks.

 

Mine still hasn't shipped. Called today, and the rep said there weren't any problems and my order should ship out by the end of the week. I'm calling BS, but we'll see. Ordered on 5/19 with T7300, nVidia graphics, 160GB HD, and Vista Business 64 (which is what scares me).

 

Mine finally shipped out on 6/25. No email notification. Estimated delivery of 7/2.

mine is "out for delivery" after being in HK still like 12 hours ago... i cant wait .... this is killing me... along with a major hang over...

 

mine is at departure scan in hong kong right now. i assume it will leave in a few hours. doesnt say when the estimated shipping date is. hopefully it won't be too long.

laptop just came at 10am! shipped overnight since it left hong kong at 9pm local time yesterday. nice! they gave me express shipping, but i thought that sonic air was their true overnight. whatever though. still havent opened the box yet though.

same with mine. i wonder if ours are "better" quality because they are coming from the shenzhen plant versus the compal plant.

 

weird, ive got 4 thinkpads coming in 3 seperate orders: all are expedited, but they are all taking difff paths and delivery times. They all estimate deliver in 1 week, but some went to korea and waited, another one went direct from china to kentuky, and another is sitting in china still, so im not sure if that one will go to korea or kentuky...either way im happy to see one jump direct from china to kentuky even though its just expedited (slowest)

 

I just received my Meyer-ordered T61 today as well. So far it seems great!! I will check it out some more tomorrow.

wow only took 56 minutes to get from KY to hou. well being here already this morning- hopefully 4am is early enough so it will be delivered today. don't know how much b/f 6am, or whenever cutoff for when trucks go out it has to get here to not wait til tomorrw.

My June 8th X61 order is still showing "in process" and the shipping date has been delayed to July 16th.
They said the T61 was delayed because of a wrong LCD data entry, they what the hell is wrong with my X61 order?

 

According to my parts numbers, I have the LG screen and the alps keyboard. I am so relieved I got the LG screen!

Stanko, don't feel bad, my order May 11th still hasn't shipped!I was told my Lenovo Bombay central that possibily the 2nd week of July, screens are backorder again.... for us early orderer's were screwed again!!!!

 

Same here. My May 10 Order hasn't shipped yet and yesterday I was told that the screens are the problem and it will probably take two to three weeks for it to ship.

Of course I immediately called again, got to another CSR who told me that my laptop should ship by monday and if it doesn't than I should call again...hmm...I decided not to call a third time but if you have time to waste, you can call Lenovo repeatedly and get all kinds of versions about your laptop's estimated shipment date. Wow.

 

By the time we get ours, quantum computers will be out, and laptops will be obsolete. So will be stuck with old, old technology.

 

I ordered mine 5/14 and it was still in process by 6/26. I called and spoke to a "second level" guy about it and he said he'd stay on top of it until it shipped, and that it should ship before 7/1. Of course, that hasn't happened. So I called him back; left a message. Called my salesperson; left a message. I did that for two days and neither of them bothered to return my call. So I canceled it today since I'm going out of town. Of course, the person I spoke with when canceling it said the warehouse might ship it anyway. Figures.

I really like the T61, and I really want one. I'll just wait until they get their **** together unless something better comes out between now and then (like the Dell M1330).

I am starting to think the 7/19 ship date they gave me is accurate. I would not be surprised if thats when the laptop finally ships.

 

Is it a certain style getting delayed? Example the 15 inch versions vs. the 14's?

 

I finally received mine on Friday, seven weeks plus after placing the order. 14.1" and Intel graphics.

FYI:

BEWARE if you think you're getting Vista 64bit installed on your T61!

Last week I ordered a T61, full gambit of options, (T7700, Windows Vista Ultimate, WWAN, etc.) $3000+

After ordering I reviewed the email confirmation and saw Vista 32bit being installed on the T7700 64bit processor. After talking with the salesrep I was told Lenovo only installs 32bit Vista as this is the licensing agreement with Microsoft and the DVD's will not be shipped with the system since one can create refresh disks from the hard-drive (not for 64bit since 32bit is installed).

I have no use for another 32bit OS especially on a 64bit processor! After confirming this with another salesrep I immediately cancelled my order. I waited 9 months for the T61 to come out and all the reviews state Vista 64bit is on the T61 but not according to the salesreps and my own order confirmation - SO BEWARE if you are expecting the 64bit Vista version is being installed on your T61!!

 

Good luck finding an OEM that will install 64-bit Vista for you. Not that you really need it - it provides no real benefit (but plenty of headaches) unless you have a lot of 64-bit software, which I imagine you don't, since very, very few people really do.

And how precisely did you pay more than $3000 for a T61? Did you just check the most expensive thing for every option? Seriously, go back and look and see that you actually need all that before shelling out that kind of money. The T7700, for example, is a terrible deal. Several hundred dollars more than the T7300 for an extra 400MHz? Hardly worth it in a machine who's GPU will be the bottleneck in almost everything.

Back on topic, I ordered on May 19th, got the freebie e-mail and rebooking notices on the 12th and 13th, respectively, and since then, nothing. Called last week, was told it would ship by the end of the week, which obviously didn't happen. Calling again today, we'll see what nonsense excuse they try to invent this time.

 

Software is not the issue, it is to be a development machine for 64bit software. I need power, speed and memory. If you have a better suggestion I'm all ears.

 

So I called today, and I actually didn't have to wait, it went right through. The guy said that my order, of 5/9, could take up to 2 more weeks to ship since there is a shortage of screens now. I don't know what to do.

 

Thats a tough call, it could be any time now...

As soon as they rolled over my shipping date I ordered off of a reseller. The only thing I missed out on is the built in camera and I'm not sad about that at all. Actually typing on the t61 as we speak. Took less than a week to get to me

 

My t61 order, of 5/9, has changed from process to shipped. I think I would have been more excited a month ago.

 

If you're spending $3000+ on a notebook, I'm sure you can afford to buy Vista 64bit retail. If that somehow puts you over budget, you can try upgrading more efficiently, like buying RAM from Fry's instead of through Lenovo, or dropping the CPU 200mhz to save a few hundred dollars.

 

Unbelievable, I ordered the T61 last Thursday 6/28, cancelled it Monday 7/2 it's marked as shipped 7/3 from HK - Lenovo said it takes 24-48hrs to cancel an order. I feel sorry mine shipped in days vs everyone who has had to wait!

Tuesday 7/3 while confirming the cancellation I found out the T61p is going to be released on 7/10 with 64bit as an option, so I told them I'd rather wait since they now had a definite date for the T61p.

Before I return the T61 after it arrives for the refund - do I have any bidders from those still waiting??

 

For the record I ordered my t61 5/17 with Vista 64bit (42V8173 SBB MS WIN VISTA BUSSINESS 64 ).

But I have not received my laptop yet. So like the marine I am playing the waiting game. If lenovo does roll the 61p and its sweet who knows maybe I cancel and order one of those...hmm....
