T61 Delayed

This is what I found out just a few hours ago:

Lenovo will ship a few T61p laptops. The preliminary shipping date for a few customers in Sweden will be 2007-07-19. This is the shipping date to the distributor, and it will take at least 1 more day to reach the final destination.

For you, who already have a model part number, you can call a sales rep and tell him/her to book one laptop for you. They call their distributor(s) and get the confirmation if the laptop is available or not. Apparently, Lenovo does not say anything if you do not have a valid model part number.

Unfortunately, every T61p model I know about is already expired. I was lucky to be able to get one of those T60p laptops, which I ordered some weeks ago.

Here, I have only some Swedish/Finnish model part numbers. Maybe it will help some of you out there:

NH36YSW -- With Win XP pro x86
NH36XSW -- With Vista x64
NH36TMS -- With Vista x86

I ordered my t61 on May 10th, and still haven't received it. Each week I am promised a ship date by the end of the week or the beginning of the next.

It seems June T61 buyers are experiencing delays as well. The 14.1" w/ camera screens are delayed 3-4 weeks. Also, the 160GB hard drives are delayed 7 weeks. Sales rep today said the hard drives are expected to be delivered to Lenovo the last week of July. Great. ><

 

I hope you realize that the terms and conditions you agreed to when placing the order waives Lenovo of all responsibility and requirement to fulfill any ESTIMATED ship dates? They can delay your order indefinitely, they can make all the estimations they want, they can even cancel the order without telling you—and you agreed to this. The funny thing: no one at Lenovo really cares, and they know that though you threaten to buy from a competitor and so forth, you won't. The competitors don't compare, and Lenovo knows that you know this. Shucks.

 

I don't think any of this really shocking because Lenovo doesn't charge your credit card until they ship your TP. So really, you aren't at a loss in any way whatsoever even if they delay your laptop.

And of course nobody cares. If you were a cashier at McDonalds, would you give ass if someone told you Burger King fries were better tasting?

 

Well evidently Lenovo isn't the only computer company who can't get it straight. I ordered a T61 at the end of June and their ESD was the end of August as well. Since I read/learned about the M1330 afterwards, I decided to cancel and wait it out for a lighter/longerlasting laptop, as their ESDs were the same. I made an order with Dell and it turns out it really was two. The standard power cord is a serpeate order. So, today I looked up my customer ID no, and there are six orders under it. 3 laptops and 3 cords. It looks like everyday the order gets re-entered. Well, guess the cancelation with Lenovo didn't go through either because I also learned today that I should be expecting my new T61 next week. Grrr. More time on hold = efff computer companies. Hopefully Dell is as poor as ESD as Lenovo.

 

I odered mine on 07/16, est shipping 08/30. Try to find some change today, but nothing change is there.

 

Okay I think this thread is a little out of control. It's become quite large. Anyways I just started it to voice my opinion about lenovo's customer service and the issues they were having with delivery. I am glad that I ordered through a reseller. Maybe we can get some higher ups at lenovo to look at this thread and realize the disappointment experienced by many of it's customers.

 

T61s are not the only ones being delayed...T61ps >=O

 

so its mid August, and Lenovo is still having troubles shipping T61s. I just ordered one and they will take 5 weeks to ship!

To try Lenovo's cutomer svc line, I called the # posted on their website and the line has now been on hold for ab 90 minutes. Of course the auto message still says - "... your call is important to us. Thank you for your patience. A representative will be with you shortly"!

While on hold, I started googling to see if I was alone suffering through all this, and found your conversation threads. Is there a place to express disappointments with Lenovo's customer service/responsiveness? Would that expression help? Why shouldn't I buy Dell or HP?

 

The estimated shipping date seems quite conservative. Mine had esd for 19 days after placing order, but it was shipped two days after placing the order.

The phone waiting is a big headache, indeed. Interestingly I almost always got to speak to those same 3 or 4 reps. Maybe they have shortage of reps?

Still nothing.

Tomorrow I'm just going to cancel. Tonight, though, I made the smarter decision of going with Dell and a Vostro. Similar specs, about 400 bucks cheaper. And unlike lenovo they don't have their heads so far up their arses. It's about time to get a damn machine, I say. I'm just sick and tired of all the excuses

 

ok, So they said they could never fulfill my order because of the WXGA+

I had them cancel it, and last night I got fed up waiting for my new order so I ordered the Dell.

Guess what shipped today?

Geez that company is really screwy. I'll probably cancel the Dell since it's only been one day, but dear lord, wtf is going on with Lenovo?

Amazing speed , UPS Express all the way from Hong Kong (I wonder why they ship from there), although I select UPS Ground as my shipping option.

 

Mine shipped on 8/8, even though the ESD was 8/1, then changed to 9/17.

Apparently they got a bunch of WXGA+ screens in.

On 7/21 I received an email from credit services saying that there were problems in processing my order because my credit card declined the order, but that was because there were still THREE outstanding orders for T61s on my card that Lenovo had yet to cancel. I eventually got that resolved and they said my credit card order was successfully processed on 7/24.

After doing some more research that WASN'T mentioned on the Lenovo configuration page, I now want to change my Media Card reader to the PC Card Slot + Express Card Slot as the media card reader is NOT removable and completely removes express card functionality.

I have been in contact w/ Tim Supples on trying to find a way to change this w/o causing further delay. He emailed me back last Wed (8/1) saying that someone would be working on it & I would hear from them soon...it has since been over 5 business days with absolutely NO contact from anyone.

I'm glad to hear some of you with the 14.1" WXGA+ are receiving your laptops, but for people like me, who ORIGINALLY placed an order on 7/8...it's quite frustrating.

 

Just a heads up...I got my shipping info and it shows that it came straight from Hong Kong and no where else. Enroute to Louisville now.

Here's a fun fact: All packages from Hong Kong to Louisville on UPS stop in Anchorage, Alaska. Planes stop over for fuel, more packages, etc.

My order for the T61 with UWB finally shipped. Ordered on 07/20/2007. ESD 08/22/2007. I was told the other day I was put on the critical list. Good Luck everyone else. T61's and T61p's with UWB are finally shipping.

Heh, my ESD is 9/5 & I'm leavin' for college 8/23/07.

I've been trying to get assistance with my order for about...oh...3 weeks now. With this kind of customer service, I don't get how they'll ever be able to retain customers. This has been by far my most aggravating online purchase experience ever. I have never EVER been given so many excuses and false promises by any company ever.

I truly sympathize with those who ordered in May and are FINALLY getting their laptops as I don't know if I'd have the patience to wait so long. With a lead time of 3 months, due to ONE error, I don't get how Lenovo will survive.

 

So since my question wasn't answered in my own thread, I'm going to ask you guys....

Do these batteries for the T61's and p's have a battery meter on the battery itself where you can press a button and know how much of a charge it has?

 

I had a 7662-CTO that shipped out yesterday, expected delivery tomorrow. This is immediately after I placed a rather irate call to the call center supervisor, but even so it appears the ball is finally rolling on T6x systems.

 

I just ordered a 7569-CT on 8/13. The estimated ship date is 9/27 - which is 6 1/2 weeks from now! This seems to be a similar trend since the debut - but that lead time is ridiculous! If anyone has ordered/received a 7659 (14.1" WXGA+ with cam) recently please let me know if this is an accurate estimate. Thanks in advance!

may have just called in. I believe you can still customize by calling in. The WXGA+ may be the reason for his 6.5 week wait time though...

 

WXGA+ is the reason for these long wait times.. ugh. I ordered mine 7/31 and ESD is 9/10.

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I built my T61 through my school site - and the screen options were WXGA and WXGA+, each available with and without the camera. I'll keep you posted on what I find out regarding the WXGA+ screens when I call tonight.

Quick question regarding the 14.1" WXGA+ screens: it sounds like they're coming from two different manufacturers. If so, is one better than the other? Not that I would have a choice in what I get...

 

You mean like those duracell batteries where you push down on two buttons and they light up?? That would be cool. No clue though....I really doubt that it'll have that ability.

It's a WXGA screen, that's why it shipped fast. Most of us who are still waiting for our T61's ordered w/ a WXGA+ screen.

 

How different are the screens? Is a WXGA fine for a student? (I know it's subjective.)
