T61 Delayed

So now I got the email that you get when you place a new order. It seems that they added the missing parts to my order list. The EST still says 8/03, but of course, that's a glitch. Who knows what will happen next?

 

I got the "new order" e-mail again too, now with the missing parts added. That's good news. But...my new ESD is now AUGUST 17TH! That damn well better be a "glitch", because it was June 26th an hour ago! At least my price didn't change - yet. I'll be calling them again tomorrow, this is ridiculous. If it takes months for Lenovo to fix any little glitch, I dread ever needing a warranty repair!

 

When'd you order? Man, we oughta start putting this stuff in our sig.

 

I ordered on May 19th, without the Meyer EPP - I used my school's IBM SPP account, which is to my knowledge legitimate. My first ESD was June 1st, which changed immediately to June 7th when I got the confirmation. Received a delay e-mail on the 7th pushing me back to June 26th, then got the freebie e-mail today that reinforced the 26th - but an hour later, I got the new order confirmation, which gives me August 17th. Phone rep on the 8th said 26th was "the best she could give - it could ship earlier, or possibly later," which was really helpful. I will be calling again tomorrow (well, later today), although I don't really expect better results.

Edit: Here's my "new" complete order - at least the missing parts are there now.

i received the "we're sorry, here is a freebie" email from lenovo last night, but my order hasn't changed today, doesn't seem like the "missing" parts are added...

i hope they update it soon, if not, does it mean my order is still unbuiltable?

 

So I'm really late to the converstaion here, but I have the same predicament. I ordered a T60 about 3 days before the T61 Released, and instantly called and changed my order when I read the article. They quoted my system at 1,425.00 and a ship date in late May. Then I checked it later,and the price was bumped up to around 1,600.00, but my ESD stayed the same. Lenovo has since given my original price back, but my order now states for 6/26 ship date! its been almost a month!!! Anyone else have issues like these with a constantly bouncing price and ESD?

 

Added to the sig...I also pick up on some wording that was a little questionable in the freebie email.

"We have been working hard to identify and resolve several problems that have contributed to these delays. We expect to have the vast majority, if not all, of the affected T60 and T61 systems BUILT by 6/26/2007."

Built and shipped are two different things. It could take them a week to ship out something after it's built. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I don't like that wording. I can see it now, you call on the 26th to see if your computer shipped and they tell you "we just said it would be built by the 26th, we never said anything about when it would ship."

 

They're normally shipped the same day they're built, or the next business day. They can't just keep them piling up on the shelves, plus the shipping label should be on the box before the computer is put into it.

May be they thought wisconsin is in canada. That's why they shipped yours early.

 

Did you get your new date? is your order rebooked? When did you originally ordered?

 

Hopefully you didnt order on May 24th like me! Apparently I am on the "bubble." So orders placed before 5/24 are eligible for the freebies and will ship no later than 6/26 and almost certainly earlier. Since I ordered on 5/24, CS said that the "worst" news he could give me was that mine ships on 6/26. Only if it ships after 6/26 will I be eligible for the freebie. Hope this helps.

I remember popular joke about something (Not that i agree but it applies here) God created man and he slept, God created woman and since then neither god nor man slept. Similarly, Lenovo created T61 neither Lenovo or cusomers slept since then. LOL.

Seems like ever since IBM sold its PC division to Lenovo, the ThinkPad brand reputation and quality (to some degree) has been tarnished...

I'm wondering if I should call...I ordered on 5/20, I got the freebie email, but my order still hasn't been rebooked. Ship date still shows as 6/26. It seems like a lot of people who ordered after me have had their orders rebooked.

 

I guess I am lucky. I ordered on 5/29 and my order shipped yesterday and is scheduled to be here tomorrow! My system is pretty barebones except I added the nvidia chip. Hope it ends up being what I ordered!

I checked my credit card online today and noticed the hold for the laptop is gone now...what does that mean?

 

Ordered 5/22, supposed to be 6/2, then 6/8, then 6/27, now 8/3. Wonderful.

It just means that the temporary authorization dropped off (normally 3 - 7 days depending on the merchant and credit card processor).

If you see another authorization, that means either 1 - Lenovo screwed up or 2 - your laptop is shipping soon as many times merchants will charge your
credit card just before your items ship.

In my case, Lenovo screwed up and authorized my Credit card 3 times holding $4700+ of my credit line. Had that been a Debit Card, then $4700 of my checking account balance would have been unusable. It took a phone call (and 45 min wait) to get 2 of those authorizations reversed immediately.

 

Hahaha, they are so full of it over there! I ordered my T61 on 6/5 and my ship date is (has always been) 6/22. I checked their configuration website and none of the choices labeled "may delay order" are on my T61...

So I asked CS if the delayed T61s (~late may) were pushing my order back even though I shouldn't have to be rebooked and they ought to have all my kit laying around.

He promised me that the delayed T61s were not going to be built before the T61s ordered in early June! I made him repeat it a couple time because I thought it was so funny!

Either way he's full of sh*t but it's funny he was trying to assure me that they are doing everything they can to screw over you late-may(ers). I hope they ship mine one day late on the 23rd so they have to give me a free battery anyway.

I was told today that even though my order was placed on May 31st which is outside the dates given for the invalid order it needed to be re-entered back in into the system. So my initial order of May 9th was cancelled, reordered on May 31st which is now being re-entered again but its uncertain when this will happen. Basically I'm stuck in limbo until it gets rekeyed and then I get put on the production list and have to wait an eternity to get the damn laptop

I have been bugged about others ordering after me as well, it has been a long wait but I think finally a lot of excited people will start posting as this week goes on and early next week because machines are finally starting to roll out.

 

This is all just a huge buzz kill for me. At least Dell made me excited by giving me an update like every 3 days when I bought one from them.

Both can really get delayed though, gotta love the custom built machines online...

I'm sure many are starting to figure this out already based on others getting their orders quickly even though they JUST placed orders, however I think the fact I placed 2 orders for the EXACT SAME system and accessories "Officially" shows there was no priority given to the system placed first. Since both systems were exactly the same system to a "T"... the parts excuse is BS as well. What a truly screwed up process.

Needless to say, my original order from 5/23 is STILL "In Process". I plan on letting my rep having another piece of my mind tomorrow... like it will even do anything.

Just thought Id update everyone and throw in my current experiences.

 

They said they have a few more to rebook yet and they JUST rebooked them anyhow so it could take a few days yet to build them and such.

BTW, Estimated dates mean nothing. My order that shipped today was estimated 6/27, then I just got the shipment email out of the blue and the order status updated to shipped

 

Well... you might be stretching it a bit there. This is what will undoubtedly happen:

You'll end up with a first class ticket, courtesy of Lenovo, straight to the Republic of Congo. They had a little error while printing the ticket, y'know. They're working on rebooking you, so until then, read Matt Donut's blog and try to stay alive.

Ordered at T61 on 6/9 and received a shipping notice on 6/13!!!! I am totally shocked.

 

Ordered a T61 on 05/30 and got a notification that my order has shipped on 06/13.

 

Just ordered one today (6/13). He told me 3 to 4 weeks. It was a weird configuration though.

And while that does blow, I actually appreciate the fact they are being realistic with the time frame. I think most frustration stems from the anticipation you are going to get it on a particular date, then getting yanked. I know i'm in for a long wait, so might as well sit back and chill.

That's not exactly true. IBM had similar issues when I ordered my T40p in late 2004 or early 2005. This has nothing to do with the fact that Lenovo now owns the brand. If anything, the consumers have benefited from lower prices. My well-loaded T40p was well over $3500 before some SPP discount was applied.

We are very lucky now, even if we are unlucky to have the shipping delays.

 

No, I ordered T61 on 5/29 - no camera, no Nvidia and my ship date is still 8/31.

 

I ordered T61 on 06/12 with shipping method to be 'Two Business Days' - thus costing more $50. Even though, it shows the proposed shipping date to be 06/29. How can two business day last long up to 06/29??? Ridiculous...!

 

Sorry to mess with you guys but...I ordered on monday June 04 (T61/nVdia/4695 + 1g ram) and got an emailing saying it'd take 4 weeks to ship.

I ended it getting it 4 days later (on thursday). But then again, I am an IBM employee
