Okay. That's it. I am officially furious.

Coasterdude- no offense to him, orders the equivalent of a T61p on 7/30, and it is getting shipped on the 8/6. There is obviously no shortage of UXGA's, UWB screws, or 570m's for that matter. Lenovo's been basically feeding us a line of B.S. about sending us laptops, but fulfilling people who ordered a whole two weeks after us. Tomorrow morning, I'm going Lenovo manager hunting, and I'm getting down to the bottom of why they are blowing off the first batch of orders!!!!!

So far I am actually pleased with Lenovo. I ordered on 7/30 with an estimated ship dtae of 8/30. Much to my surprise my order is in route and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, 8/6.

Kebs.... I ordered ón the 11th and some hit who ordered on the 12th already has his and mine has yet to ship. I have gotten so many different lies from so many different people its not even funny. I read all of the other peoples horrible experiences and I thought "oh that won't happen to me" well guess what.... It did. I shouldn't be surprised.... I should have known

Poor Lenovo....will they ever get their act straight?

 

I begin to wonder if they pulled all the info off the order status page so they could fiddle with people's configurations.

I just checked thru all my correspondence with Lenovo in regards to this order and at no time did they send me a record of it. Unfortunatly I never printed a copy either.

Will I really get what was ordered? or something else? I'll have no proof if they bait and switch on me.

Getting very uncomfortable with these wild occilations in price that the Lenovo site shows as well as these wild reports of order vs shipping dates.

 

Look like those being shipped is without the Wireless USB. 42V8601 SBB NO UWB ANTENNA. I think that is really the holdup. Lenovo B******s are lying to us all about 15.4' in screen.

 

Ahh, I found that I'd posted my ordered configuration in the 'two days till T61p Launch' thread.
At least they can't pull a bait and switch.

Nothing I guess, maybe just reading too much into it.

Still, I find it very fishy that there is zero information confirming what it is I ordered (and the rest of you are in the same boat.)
Both the order confirmation emails and online order info show SYS.6459CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM which could be anything.

We are seeing prices going up and down like a yo-yo.
We are seeing people getting machines who ordered them after others that have not had deliveries.
We are getting Lenovo staff telling all kinds of conflicting stories (assuming they bother to answer the phone, for three days I tried to reach them about the tax free weekend thing - no answer and I sat on hold a number of times for more than 30 minutes before giving up.)
We get potential and current configurations changing daily. We used to log in and see what we'd ordered, now that's gone. One link has the 570m & 14" SXGA+, but not avail on the consumer side.

I've bought a lot of stuff online and never had an experience anything like this. Much less with a big mature company like Lenovo is supposed to be.
Lenovo is NOT providing a solid, mature and competent experience about the order & delivery of this product. And that's the sales side, support is never as good as sales. I shudder to consider what the support experience will be like.

THANK GOD I ordered the Sony and put this Lenovo machine on 'pay it later', even if Lenovo goes belly up I'll have a machine and won't be chasing anyone for my $.
The Sony SZ was announced & ordered one day, shipped the next, and if UPS doesn't steal or mangle it, it'll be here on Tues. That's delivered just 4 business days after it was released to the public.

I'll tell you this much, I've ordered a lot of stuff from Dell and the experience has always been way more professional than Lenovo has been so far.

I'm rapidly losing confidence in Lenovo.


I really think that if/when it arrives I'm just going to flip it on ebay and be done with it - with the wait times being as long as they are I may even come out ahead. I just don't want to tangle with them.
I can tell you this, I'll be doing a hard eval on this little Sony SZ this week and if it does the job I need the T61P's getting flipped.

Those customer reps may not have had the most up to date information or whatever. I fail to see anyone here that is so uber important that Lenovo has to lie to. It doesnt make a shred of difference if they say the screen wasnt there or the antenna wasnt there. The only fact is that those notebooks are not shipped yet.

Anyway good luck with the Sony. Since you recieved it you can just cancel the T61p order and be done with it like you said. If its not shipped you should be able to cancel it any time or at worst refuse the package.

As for those people who are still waiting for the T61p try giving their NC office a call.

the oscillations in price are a regular marketing thing, while it's a pain, they ARE manipulable to your advantage esp.if you take into account the 21 day price adjustment from ship date.

Just so you know, the BBB doesn't have any kind of authority. They contact the companies, but the companies don't have to do anything, ever. They'll have some negative marks on their BBB reports, but you'll only know that if you ever check the BBB before you purchase somewhere, something rarely anyone does.

Luckily though, most good companies see it as a negative and generally do try to work through the issue because as anyone knows who's worked for a big company, not all parts work the same. You may have an area 100% dedicated to making sure 100% of its customers are happy. Another area couldn't care less.

 

I've been on hold for 1 hour and 3 minutes trying to talk to someone about this. Usually, it only takes 30 minutes. Have you guys talked to anyone today?

 

I just got off of the phone with Lenovo (1hr. 45min. with holding) and during the call, I got 2 different estimated ship dates. One rep told me the 25th and the other told me the 20th. When I asked the second rep why he said the 20th when the other said the 25th, he said it is somewhere in between the 20th and 25th. He was clearly pulling the number out of a dark place.

Both of them insist that it is a delay with the WUXGA screen. When I pointed out that someone here ordered on the 30th and had their WUXGA T61 shipped, he said he couldn't understand it.

Maybe the delay isn't the WUXGA screen but the WUXGA screen WITH the WUSB antenna in it.

I am going to go crazy if they don't ship soon. I can't keep wasting an hour a day on the phone with them but I feel obligated until I get a reasonable answer.

 

What are your order details? (when did you order, and what is your current ESD o nthe site?)

 

Kebs... isn't this is a T61p that Coasterdude ordered? WUXGA isn't available on T61, I thought... Although his does say w/o UWB. Odd.

 

I ordered on 7/12 in the morning. My ESD is 8/31 although they told me that is meaningless because it's been more than a month!? They said their screens show the 20th or 25th as the new ESD but they weren't willing to email me that info.

HP released their 8510p today, I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on that.'

Might do what Maxx is going to do if he likes his Sony.

 

The only problem with that HP is that it doesn't have an Ultrabay of any kind. I want to be able to stick another hard drive in my laptop if I need to.

So my order is now being handled by the Customer Relations Management Team. I can't even get my order status from a regular representative now. They all tell me that they are unauthorized. It's wierd. But, it may be faster.

 

I called Lenovo today, and the conversation plus hold took less than 20 minutes, Surprising. Anyhow, they said that my order that I placed on July 18 had an error(?) and that they would call me back in 24 to 48 hours with an updated shipping date. So much for 8/20. I need this computer for school in about 2 weeks. This is blasphemy. This is madness. This is Lenovo.....

 

man, that is super tempting. I love how the new HPs look but the price sucks compared to what I got on the T61p with EPP.

I hear you there. I'm in the same position. Maybe I should have just gotten that MBP. haha.

 

Does the hdd you would use in the ultrabay come with an adapter (ie, normal 2.5" hdd) or is it a specific type of hard drive? HP has a multibay, which is basically an external hard drive, but it powers thru the usb cable, so you don't need to be near a power outlet to be able to use it. Only thing is, it uses a special type of hard drive (afaik)

I think your right. After doing some quick reseach it seems that the HD2600 is also an underclocked version of the HD2600 XT, so there is certainly some latent potential there provided the cooling is good enough to allow it.

 

Yeah, if you look on the ATi spec pages, the same stuff is listed for the 2600 and 2600XT. But, clock speeds aren't listed.

 

In terms of ATI, I wouldn't touch their products due to the drivers. Even if an ATI product outperforms nvidia on the benchies, the grief you'll suffer thru with their drivers isn't worth it.

 

ATI is evil. Beware of the horrors. If you do get one, use omegadrivers.

He is a very helpful rep. I'm not sure how knowledgable he is about the shipping info, but he is definitley helpful. If you can though, talk to a supervisor and ask for a depot/warehouse check.

anyone saying your shipping today is a total lier, the 10th with delivery on the 15th is what the second level sales support rep told me, but here is the catch, they have to email the warehouse and get the real date emailed back which takes 24 hours or so.. call and get sales support, then get level 2 then get them to check for you as to what is going on. the manager told me july 11th critical units shipping on the 10th...

 

Ugh, the 10th? I need mine this wednesday, looks like that's not happening, I would have had to have shipped today. Oh well, guess we will get it next week.

 

My Sony will be here tomorrow, just 4 business days after it Sony announced it.
Of course, this assumes that UPS doesn't steal or mangle it in the next 24 hours and I'm praying that Sony's QC was up to the task of releasing a new machine.

.....I just got an email from lenovo with an updated order page. I ordered on july 18th. ESD SEPTEMBER 6TH?!?!?!

 

I think they are all liars, FWIW. You're assuming the rep you talked to is more truthful than the person I talked to.

I'd settle for "a" date at this point that is based on some facts rather than total speculation and stall tactics. If they know they won't have a part until date X and it takes Y days to ship after X, then they should be telling customers "no sooner than X+Y, no later than X+Y+5 days" or whatever.

Fortunately I have a T60p and a Dell M65 right now (both work PCs), but I'd really like to replace my T43 personal machine which I got rid of in April in anticipation of this. I almost pulled the trigger on a standard T61 back in May.

 

Holy cow Ronan, that just proves our point that Lenovo is not short on anything they are just building the machines for high dollar companies instead of for the people who ordered directly from them.

 

yea, i ordered for my friend,and i was suprised too. So I think different department has different process. I order it through USBANK employee plan, and I also check the warranty, it is IWS( global.)
I remember my T60 has IWS, but it only covers 5 countries...
