Well I knew it was comming, but now its official.
My ESD is now 9/07/07. What a freaking joke.
MBP time?... Seriously. I think with the student discount and the free ipod its like the next best deal for me.
-
I'm ready to ditch this and get the 8510p. This whole process with dealing with lenovo is just bullsh*t.
-
The BBB complaint isn't a bad idea but here are some things to know first since I am dealing with Sony through the BBB right now:
1) It can take 2 weeks for the BBB to process your complaint and even get it to the company. When the BBB sends your complaint to the company they will send you a confirmation e-mail saying so.
2) That confirmation e-mail will tell you the company has 6 frickin weeks to give you their preliminary response....that's right, you're up to 2months now...I think we'll all have our laptops by then anyways...
3) If you ask for ANY financial compensation not arising from damages (lost time/productivity/frustration DOES NOT COUNT, only things like overdraft fees if the company charged you incorrectly or physical damages like your car engine blew up while driving) the company can automatically deny your claim immediately and you cannot refile because it will be calssified as "resolved, claim denied".
If you do not believe me please call your local BBB and ask them. I had a very nice lady at the atlanta BBB walk me through my complaint and help me with the claim I was seeking. This was straight from her mouth.
For all of you that asked for money for "compensation" I would call the BBB that deals with lenovo and ask them to change it to something you can actually get before your claim is denied and lenovo is done with it forever. -
My T61p which had been originally ordered on 7/11/07 has also been delayed again to 9/7/07. In addition, it seems that they changed my 512MB to 1GB and increased the price by $90. This will be my last order from Lenovo.
-
-
-
Ah I see. Same thing did happen to me then
Is there any way to cancel my order online? I cant login for some reason. -
I haven't got any email regarding the delay, but the order status page was updated with a new estimated shipping date. no change in the configuration though.
-
-
I'm on the phone right now asking about wth is up with my order.
-
-
That's probably why. Lenovo isn't offering 512mb ram as a configuration option anymore, so I guess they just bumped up everyone who had 512mb to 1gb and added $100 to their order. Atleast thats what happened to me.
-
Boy did you get screwed. When I ordered mine, the change from 512 to 1stick of 1GB was like $28
-
-
Spoke to a Lenovo CSR...the bump to 1GB was free. According to the rep, the plan is for the machines to be sent out to everyone on the critical list this week. Highly unlikely, but we'll see.
-
-
I called and they said that anyone not on the critical list from 7/11 will ship end of month and so on based on shipping date
-
Gosh, I am on the 7/11 critical list, does anyone know when the site usually updates, night? weekends? I have only seen the change in my ESD and I don't remember what time of day it happened. There is no point in me checking the site throughout the day if it never changes in the middle of the day.
-
-
I got an email about change in ship date at like 7:30 am.
-
Ok, that's what I will have to remember. This is all happening in china and they are like 13-15 hours behind us right?
-
-
So... I called a rep and got my ship date as 8/10. She put me on hold to "locate a better shipping date" I'm not sure if this is a magic-8-ball number, or an actual ship date, but shrug, I'm at work. I don't wanna argue w/these people until I get home.
-
How long did it take for you to receive and email from BBB about the complaint you filed?
-
Ok so just to let everyone know, I talked to my J&J rep, who's not going to lie because they pay him no matter what (he can simply say: I have no idea, I'll get back to you), but a few hours after I initially emailed him, he got back to me.
1. According to him, the "critical" list is actually called the "emergency/attention"" list, and ANYONE that ordered on the 11th or 12th of July, unless their order was changed/altered, was instantly put on the "critical" list (though changing your order may have removed you [or not] from the list).
2. They are indeed planning on shipping out the first batch of T61p's to regular customers within the week, but there is some doubt to whether they can build the laptops fast enough (there is also the fact that he said they are receiving the parts they needed to begin building- specifics didn't know -, the only issue being that Lenovo is receiving them in limited quantities, so the build process is being slowed down). Well, at least that's what his boss told him after consulting the factories several times.
Hope this helps. Remember, this info is from a credible source, but even he didn't know for certain that what he was saying was 100% correct and he told me it should be taken with a grain of salt. -
At the rate things are moving now, the majority of us who didn't order on opening day shouldn't look to see their laptop till the end of August/early September.
Thanks for the tidbits, SkyzerFizer. Info like this at least helps us piece together the real issues and delays. -
Just got off the phone once more with lenovo. They are not going to give out batteries anymore, but the sales rep Jenna that I spoke to said she put a note down for a $100 discount after they price match my system. In addition to that, since my order had to be reset, they said it did make the critical list, so I'm not sure about the reps that say the list is full. I'm still ready to raid the morrisville office. I'll even offer the land for you guys to come and pitch tents and we ride at dawn after the troops are counted for.
-
I just noticed that the email that I got today was the first one that gave me a CSR. For some reason I have a feeling it might not be a good sign.
-
what is a CSR? I must sound newbish.
-
-
Much thanks.
-
no word from those two dudes who says theres are on the way.. I do not believe that one single configured system in the us has shipped as of today.. Thats on a product that was released on the 11th of July.. That is shameful. They need to get there act together and have on hand stock to bulid systems as ordered at least for the first days orders.. They are too big to be operating like a twelve year old computer consultant building boxes for his moms office.. LOL

My laptop will be here tommorow, probably in the evening based on my past experience with UPS. Don't worry, I'll be sure to post pictures when it arrives. Did anyone else order through EPP? I'm wondering if I got lucky or if EPP had something to do with my laptop shipping so soon.
-
im just going to pee my pants when this guy irfan gets a t61 or a t60p by mistake.. lol
-
is anybody having trouble accessing their order status page?
-
Horrific-
Mohammed of EPP calls me today, says my laptop needs to be resubmitted because my memory configuration is impossible. Which makes no sense to me because I ordered it with 1GB 2x512MB, which is definitely a possible option. The critical list is of course full, so I don't know what in the world this means.
He was supposed to call me back about my laptop, but hasn't called me back. Something about how the factory said the order couldn't go forward because I have an invalid configuration with 512MB ram. However, I had 1GB, not the 512 that the factory originally thought I had. Either way, I'm in the dark, and it sounds like my laptop is not even a blip on the radar.
Has this happened to anyone else who ordered a T61P loaded except for the RAM? -
why 1GB 2x512. It is the same price to get 1GB 1x1GB so you can upgrade when you want.
-
Is anyone in Canada having a similar problem? Maybe this backlog problem is just in the States? (I'm guessing this is wishful thinking) I ordered mine last weekend and I received an invoice saying that my T61p would be shipped in 3-4 weeks, no firm dates. Do you think that my laptop will actually be shipped in 3-4 weeks?
-
You folks have me worried enough about Lenovo that I am going to bounce this concern off of you.
So I ordered a T61p on July 30th and I have a ship date of August 30th. In the link supplied by the confirmation email I received that date is unchanged. However, whenever I try to log into Lenovo to get a more detailed account of my order I cannot gain access. I get "You do not have access to the portal you tried to reach."
All of your problems with Lenovo have me sketched out and I am scared to call and talk to a CSR as I am worried my order will be cancelled or further delayed.
Am I being paranoid? Thanks for the help -
-
Make sure you visit the same lenovo page as you did while you placed your order (If you say linked through Amex then go through that link again or EPP, Canada homepage etc..). The login error should then go away.
-
It seems to me that Lenovo's user access is site specific. I registered under the EPP side, I cannot log in when on the std consumer or the Education side. Just barfs every time. Then I go log in on the EPP side and it works perfectly.
-
The interesting twist is that the CDN orders are all standard orders and customization isn't factored into any of the delays. I hope folks are right and we will see our T61ps in 3-4 weeks. -
BTW, Barry Bonds just hit 756, so now at least the chinese plant workers can stop watching baseball and get back to building laptops.... -
ordered another t61p. just in case. taking advantage of 200.00 cheaper prices plus fatwallet is now 4.0%, amex at 10%,and will make them give me the USTPJULY 10% discount, and the 100.00 credit for extreme delay. although forcing me to rebook 30 days after my original booking date, i'm expecting more than 100.00.
anyone else doing plan b?
btw, if you haven't gotten a call yet from Lenovo- they might just not have any idea your thing is wrong yet. But it could be wrong. like mine. no one is safe *looks around* -
I wouldn't be surprised if that one ships before the first one you purchased....
-
It probably will ship before the first order ship, because it does not have UWB or wireless USB. That is a option you are giving up. Because one cannot configure that option right now. The only reason I do not cancel my order is the UWB adapter is included, so if I would re-order today, I could not get that UWB adapter, and then Next week they start shipping T61p's and T61's with that part, I would be PISSED after waiting this long.
-
plan B: V1s or 8510w
-
I don't think I can wait this long just to cancel and have to wait to buy another laptop from someone else. I think I am just goit to stick it out until mine ships. I hope it ships on the 10th.
