I ordered my T61p on 1 August 2007, with an estimated ship date of 3 September 2007...what worries me is that my order status is still "in process", whatever that means.
Is that est. ship date best case or worst case?
-
Worst Case Scenario, usually they ship before, but there have been delays with just about every single part of these T61p's. If you didn't order in July then you have almost zero chance of getting it in August.
-
-
Unfortunately, yes.
I wish they could just peg a date that was at the latest. Then any change would be the date moving up, not back... -
Well that is sort of what it is, but they will probably not make your date.
-
The 14.1 T61p is kinda tempting, except you have to buy accidental damage crap.
-
So.. Lenovo called me today! Something about Tony from Executive Relations. He said in reference to a BBB complaint. Guys if you're having an issue with your laptop, and it's been kicked out or has been invalidated, these guys are probably able to help you out more in compensation. He said due to 16 hour time delay it will take a couple days to hear back what's going on.
Lixuelai. Thanks. you're a pro, and you're helping us get somewhere. We owe you!
Btw, what was the deal with the Dell internship? Did they offer it to you, and then not give it to you in the end? Did that create a strained workplace atmosphere for you and your manager? =) -
Kebs, how are you going about getting another 10% coupon? I'm tempted to order another, becasue I don't care about UWB, and would rather have one without it in 2 weeks than one with it in 2 months.
-
Well great, I guess Lenovo decided to pre-emptively push my ship date back finally just to make sure they can really really hit their ship date. My original ESD was 8/23 and now its 9/7. Must be pretty serious if even the 2nd week buyers are getting railroaded already on the ESD's. Le Sigh.
-
AMEX TM terminated their Lenovo Savings offer as of 7/31. So anyone including it on their budget will have to redo their math or is it calculated based on the order date?
-
As for the laptop itself:
- it is the quietest Thinkpad I have ever owned (570, i1400, A22p, T43). I love it.
- The wireless reception is improved compared to my old T43. Who needs WWAN... ;-)
- The speaker sound is much better than my old T43
- I feel the screen darker than my T43 although I believe the specs rate the T61p screen as brighter
- The laptop feels sluggish compared to my T43 running XP probably due to all the bloatware that is part of the standard build and possibly Vista. I am seriously considering rebuilding it but I really don't have the time.
- I've been hanging explorer several times when running off battery power. I've updated all the software possible using the Lenovo tool but stopped short of downloading newer drivers direct from manufacturer web sites. It seems better but I can't say for sure yet.

tailormade died! omg! -
I'm contemplating ordering another one, but only if I can get another 10% off coupon that is stackable with the SPP.
-

-
Hey Kebs, Tony is working with me on my BBB complaint as well! He gave me the same line as you and mentioned something about moving my ship date to executive or something. We should keep each other informed of what tony tells us.
-
I just did the whole BBB thing. Maybe I can get this Tony guy too. Doubt it.
-
Keep us updated. You should get a phone call tomorrow.
-
Can someone explain to me what leg we have to stand on w/the BBB? Do I need to contact Lenovo executive support first, or what? What might this gain me?
-
I ordered a T61 a couple days ago through my employers WSCA Contract at the Lenovo website. There was no listing for T61p's when I placed my order. But, now I can order the T61p and whats interesting is that they have two preconfigured versions among the 6 available each of which stating that they will ship in 10 days. The CTO versions are still saying 3-4 weeks. Is it worth the effort to go through with cancellation/reorder, because these may ship when promised or is this just a pipe dream due to the actual delay simply not being reflected in the dates on this site. Opinions?
-
Whats wrong with your order, ponic?
-
-
I'd say it couldn't hurt. The BBB supposedly has power over Lenovo, so you might get better results faster.
-
If we're going to start using this thread for 61p and 61... Since ZaZ closed the other - can we either retitle it or re-open the T61 thread?
-
Guys, please. Don't use the BBB as an outlet JUST to get your T61p shipped quicker. It's not like you're escalating your issue to a supervisor when you write the BBB. You placed an order for a laptop. You were given an ESTIMATED shipping date. By that word of interpretation they haven't done anything wrong, yet.
Does it hurt when you see your beautiful ESD get changed? You bet! Mine did today! To 9/7 no less and my ESD was 8/23! Not even close to the wire on that call. So I spoke to my support rep and was put on the 'critical' list as well. Just like that. (Which doesn't instill my confidence that the 'critical' list is even that critical.)
But seriously, if you haven't been charged money for services that haven't been rendered yet, then don't expect every BBB complaint to be given the 'platinum, deluxe, extra-critical edition' treatment. All Lenovo will do with the BBB complaints is placate the first few complaints, then address the issue to BBB explaining that:
"Our initial demand temporarily inhibited us to supply sufficient units to all customers in a timely manner. However, we are increasing production to meet demand and servicing complaints with adequate support, per our SLA."
Sicking the BBB on Lenovo for a supply issue is like sending BBB on Nintendo because you didn't get a Wii when they first rolled out the initial quantities.
Ride it out and get what you can from Customer Service. If you're still not happy: cancel your order. -
I want to cancel mine and reorder without UWB. However, doing so would cost me atleast $300. All I want is a coupon that is atleast 10% that I can order with.
-
You guys are making me *really* nervous about my 8/17 ESD. As of 30 secs ago, however, it was still hanging in there.

guys i know this might be off topic but,
is anybody having trouble accessing their lenovo order status page? i couldnt access mine sinse yesterday -
If you could also speak on the feel of it, does it "creak" when you pick it up one handed on the left or right palmrest, and does the battery feel solid in it's bay or does it have a play to it. Just overall impressions of quality and durability. I'm anxiously awaiting a full review from NBR's staff, but I'll take any bits and pieces owners can hand out in the mean time.
Thanks for the cell photo though! It's proof of life that the T61p does exist... in the US. -
Following my post above, I ordered a T61p that has an ESD of 8/23/07. I will see how it goes. I can always cancel if the other in the event that one ships.
@t1mmer,
The new order of the preconfigured model seemed to throw everything including the kitchen sink in there and as a result the new order was slightly more than 2500 after tax and that is more than 600 bucks more than my first order. I looked to no avail for a coupon, and could not find anything valid. I will certainly keep on the lookout for a coupon and won't hesitate to call those guys about a discount if one becomes available later. -
sau, when did you order yours? Basically, does yours have UWB and WUSB or not.
-
-
now if anybody could take a milisecond to answer off the side my tiny question...
-
-
somedude, you need to login wherever you ordered from. So if you ordered thru SPP, you need to login thru the SPP site.
-
At the risk of creeping off topic, build wise, the laptop has a pretty solid feel to it. The plastic does creak a bit when pressure is applied but I don't think it is out of the ordinary. Relatively speaking, it feels a bit stiffer than my T43 but with a 15" screen vs 14" it does flex a bit more imho.
Windows Experience Index was the same as GarryF.
I do not have WUSB or UWB. I ordered mine in Canada on July 12.

That is horrid. -
Oh well... I saw the rectangular enter key, and not the funky one GarryF has in his pics, and got all excited.
-
Where nnnnnnn is your 7 digit customer Id and nXnnXX is your 6 alphanumeric order id. You should have this 2 pieces on your confirmation page. Alternatively, you can go to the following page and provide the info.:
https://www.directlenovo.com/orderstatus/index.cfm If you still getting error...something is wrong...you have to be more polite to the CSR in the future -
... and now back to your regularly scheduled on-topic thread of shipping dates that aren't really shipping dates... but false senses of hope. -
It has arrived.
