T61p Buyers Post your Shipping Dates Here

UWB and WUSB was standard on all US T61p's, apparently now it isn't.

 

My initial T61 order:
Ordered: 8/6/7
ESD: 9/8/7

My T61p order:
Ordered: 8/8/7
ESD: 8/23/7

So in case anyone doesn't know, the default action for an order that cannot be fulfilled is for it to be bounced out. Mohammed at EPP today told me that he's getting laptops shipped in 2-3 days when the orders are sorted out, apparently there's a problem with sorting, and they can't ship anything even though I told him, just call a guy, and have them send it. Apparently there isn't even a laptop with my name on it, because unless your computer is actually configurable, it doesn't even go into the manufacturing pipeline. Fancy finding that out.

 

Are you saying that if we configured a computer on the initial release days with UWB (which is now not an option), we can't even have it built??? WTF

 

I just noticed that the T61p only has a 128 MB Quadro 570M, but that would be fine for my needs. My only qualm is the additional 600 dollars. At the original price of system one I felt like I was really getting a great deal, and now I feel like I got the BestBuy treatment. Oh well...

Crap, I'd like to know the answer to that too!

 

Looking at the tabook, the 6460-67U I ordered doesn't appear to mention WUSB. Am I not reading it right, or is it not an actual configuration?

Also, are the T61ps configured in the US reflected in the tabook, or are they outside of the tabook?

 

I'm not saying I know which component was not configurable, I'm saying if something WAS non-configurable, the default response is to bump it out at least a few weeks. Mine was bumped to 8/31, as others were, which seemed to be more of a order fault-trigger rather than there's a shortage of parts or shenzhen is striking or something. Apparently when something faults, it takes them a while to even get it out to CSR's.

e.g. On 7/27, my ship date jumped from 7/30 to 8/31. At that point, my laptop was not going to be built, period.

 

Can a mod either unlock a T61 shipping thread or create one and start moving all the T61 posts from here to that one? It's getting to be a mental exercise trying to remember who ordered a T61 and who ordered a T61p. If the invalid configuration issue only applies to T61 machines with the 512MB ram setup, cool. If the issue applies to T61p's with WUSB, then there's a bunch of us who have an issue. Sometimes consolidation makes life more difficult, not easier. Just my $.02, and thanks mods for keeping us friendly, helpful and useful

 

aadadams, the 14.1 4:3 T61p has the 128mb. The 15.4 16:10 has the 256mb version.

 

The unit I ordered has a 15.4 UXGA and the video card description says: "128MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (Standard)". The model number is 64575KU that may help you to locate it.

So if I called Lenovo up to ask about downgrading from Vista Ultimate to Home Premium, them telling me this is not possible, and me telling them, "ok, nevermind then, I was just inquiring," and then them cancelling my first order, and creating a new one without my permission, and getting the version of Vista wrong anyways...grounds for a BBB complaint?

Ordered 7/17, original ESD 8/17. Current ESD 9/5, with a screwed up config.

The re-ordered one still has the UWB. Would it be better if I just cancelled the current, and re-ordered? Opinions??

 

Irfan 37, why do your T61p have IBM Thinkpad instead of just Thinkpad like Garry F T61p. I was under the impression that Lenovo did away with the IBM Thinkpad Logo on the T61ps.

Anyway, mine is still in process and I can access my order........ I agree with Poincg Everyone please remember, this thread is for T61p buyers. Hence the name of the thread..... I did a bit of digging using Google, and it appears that every site that sells the T61p described above indicates that the unit comes with 256 MB of video ram. NOW I AM VERY CONFUSED.

 

aadadams, are you in the US or Canada? Only use config number I know of is 6459CT

 

I am in the US, good old Louisiana to be more precise.

 

Thats odd. You ordered thru Lenovo's normal site, or thru education?

 

I used the higher education site and the Western States Contractual Alliance.

 

Hmm, thats probably why then. Some builds are only avaliable to certain areas.

 

I hope that this provides some expedience and the T61p (or the T61) is built and shipped sooner than those dates.

That is a very accurate assessment. It soooo hot and muggy that it makes me want to stay home 'til December....

 

I spoke to a CSR on Monday, he was going to check in with "the factory" in China and get back to me via email. He said to expect a reply in 1-2 days. Tomorrow will be 3 days.

Anyone else have experience with these "warehouse/factory checks" which he said were to confirm an absolute commit ship date? Do Lenovo CSR's EVER get back to you when they say they will?

WTF is wrong with these morons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just called them and now they are back to the there are no screens story, Dont bother calling them because they are programmed to tell you anything they think you want to hear.... They start telling me that there are no screen, so i say but i was told by level 2 that my system will ship on the 10th, so he says let me calculate your lead time. So now im like lol.... he then says Ohhh Yes from the lead time and since you ordered on the 11 of july then yes tommrow is the best estimate for shipping.

What a waste of time...

If you ORDER A System from Lenovo then you have to understand that it comes when it comes and there is not a thing you can do to make it come any faster, talking to them only results in bad things happening to your order or getting a million different stories..

What? It's a completely different machine though, those of us who bought T61p's are getting confused because people who bought T61's are getting their's shipped and we aren't! MODS LISTEN UP! This thread should be for T61p buyers. That's why I started it...... Someone please open up a T61 thread for those who bought T61's. They are two different machine's so we do need two different threads.

 

Not that much different Jeremy092288, if one is waiting on a system with Wireless USB..I think we are all in the same boat. Mad as Hell and waiting on Lenovo to get it's ACT together. Mostly those that are shipping are the 14.1' inch T61's, T61's 15.4' , & T61ps without UWB.

 

Hmm - I was under the impression that T61ps with UWB shipped(pre-config'd), AND that T61 15.4" with UWB shipped. Am I off or is that right?

 

Did you receive additional email updates from the Canadian team, or did the laptop just show up one day?

 

ALl I know is, i ordered my T61 on 7/12 and shipping date has changed 5 times now to 9/05 and the rep noted ithere was a conflict w/ the UWB and the ram...

My salesperson told me that my credit card would be charged when the laptop shipped. This proved to be a bit difficult to notice as when my extra battery and AC adapter shipped the charges didn't show up before the item showed up at my door. The only indication I had was that my available credit dropped.

In the end I just ended up calling her back around the time she told me the item would ship and she emailed me the tracking number when it shipped.

 

Just got an email update from my Rep:

My order was placed on 7/11. Then I had to replace my same order on 7/31 because of a manufacturing sorting issue. luckily my excitement for the system has passed. Maybe it will be a nice Christmas present.

 

You were expecting Christmas in July...but it's really going to be more like Christmas in December.

 

So, just made another order, and it says ship on 9/11

 

Sure glad I bought the Sony. So far so good with it, might just flip the T61p on ebay, make a couple bucks on someone who doesn't want to wait.
That is of course assuming it ever gets here.

 

I just got off the phone with our BBB Lenovo Rep friend Tony. He actually seems like he is trying to work on my case with my fluxing price. He said I may even get an ultrabay battery for my troubles. But before anyone gets funny ideas, don't complain to the BBB if you are just sick of waiting for your laptop. The only reason I did was the $130 dollar price increase after I had to reorder after speaking on the phone several hours with Lenovo.

 

Tony seems like an outstanding guy. He's going to cancel my first order, and price the order I placed today (without WUSB and UWB). We need more people like Tony.

I had a nice little chat with a CSR again. Sounded like a cute girl too. But anways I let her know that I was recording the call and would send the tape into the BBB if her supervisor doesnt call me in the next 24 hours as she stated. As this is the 3rd time I've been promised that a supervisor would call and havent't.

 

And what exactly are you looking for this CSM to tell you or assist you with that hasn't been addressed? If it's regarding a delayed shipment... I kinda think Lenovo and the BBB are aware of this issue by now. About the only thing the CSM can do for you is apologize to you again and put you on their overbooked 'Critical List'... if you aren't already on it.

The reason everyone needs to call into a CSR is because we have no idea which people's orders have been completely cancelled, or put on indefinite shipping banishment. Lenovo will not call us to tell us our machine is not shipping. In fact, THEY don't even know what's wrong. It's not just about everyone's gotta wait. It's about whole orders evaporating into thin air without our knowledge.

 

I do have UWB. Not sure about WUSB.
