Ordered a 15.4" WUXGA T61p on Aug. 11th. ESD is 9/13.

This will be my first Thinkpad, but I've been wanting one for years now. I discovered lenovoblogs.com after I ordered, but after reading it I feel re-assured I made a good decision.

 

I'll give Lenovo tech Support a try. Thanks. Please let me know if anyone is having hat problem. I'm sure once everyone starte getting their laptops it would be interesting to find out if RAM is a problem

 

ugh, people who got their laptops make a new thread...this is depressing hearing about everyone playing with their new t61p while mine is still in pieces

 

I will be replacing the 2 512MB DIMM's with 2 2GB DIMM's. I'll use the 512MB DIMM's in some other laptops at my company. I'll also be replacing the 80GB 5400 RPM drive with a 200GB 7200 RPM drive.

No UWB/WUSB. It wasn't available when I ordered. I hope the screen is as nice as my UXGA T60p.

 

My laptop left Alaska 2 days ago and still has not been scanned in at another location. I hope it is not lost.

Also, people who have, how is the screen?

 

I just got off the phone with the Canadian call centre about the ETA of my "standard" order T61p.

I was told that the next expected shipment of T61p laptops is scheduled (tentatively?) for August 28th. The CSR did mention that this date can change but as of now things are tracking to that date due to production issues (supply of screens was stated).

Anyhow, I thought I would share that update with others in Canada that might be waiting for their T61p.

 

It looks like everyone who ordered on 7/11 is receiving shipping notices, but mine is still "in process"

I'm in the same boat as you. Ordered on 7/11.

 

It's good to know I'm not the only one with a T61p now. . I've had mine for 5 days so far and I'm loving it. If I set it to max performance and full brightness I can still get 3 hours of battery, if I set it to Maximum Battery Conservation I can get almost 7 hours out of this thing. Screen looks great, everything runs really well. I had a few issues with waking the laptop out of sleep at first but after I did a full clean install and installing 64 bit Vista Ultimate I haven't had a single issue.

Edit: I actually did have one issue at first, one stuck blue pixel on the screen (which would only be visible in a dark room with a black screen), but I was able to massage that out.

This is the last update from UPS on the shipment of my laptop:

The status says "In transit", but I see no "departure scan" from Louisville for wherever its next stop is (i'm thinking either Seattle, WA or more likely Portland, OR). I guess this means my laptop is stuck - or worse, lost in Kentucky?

I got mine early this morning. Yeah!!

I can't believe it made it from HK to Utah in 2 days when I ordered it with ground shipping. I guess that's Lenovo trying to make up for the delay.

First impressions are that this thing is pretty sweet. My one complaint so far is that the screen latch sticks a little when I close the lid. It seems like the release lever binds in its slot and doesn't let the latches close. Maybe this is one of those signs of slightly decreasing quality.

 

I've had no problems with my T61p, I just finished doing a clean install on it.

Nah, I canceled my original order from 7/21 and reordered on 8/9 with a setup that I liked better.

 

Mine appears to be stuck in customs in Louisville. I don't understand what is taking so long. It's just a laptop.... what does customes even do?

?? I just called UPS and they said that it should be here tommorow by 10:30 a.m. but it's still in louisville..... is that even possible? Does it update on the site when it leaves louisville or when it arrives at the next destination? Can a few of you please post your full tracking page? Exclude your address and such of course

 

Where are people seeing this WUSB option?

I just configured/ordered a T61p today and dont recall seeing ANY WUSB option at all.

 

It got taken out recently, probably due to the supply constraint

 

Wow all of these t61ps shipping is boosting my spirits!!....NOT!

My online order status still hasn't change. Maybe I should call them tomorrow and complain about it since I ordered July 26th, while others who ordered in August are already shipping!!?!

Yes it's just customs, it'll be shipping soon enough.

 

It should update as it leaves a destination and when it arrives at a destination.

 

Just got off phone with UPS and All shipments from lenovo with this group still have not cleared customs. They said that it could still happen but as of now no. They advised me that all the packages in the group have to all clear together. But lenovo is one of the biggest customers of ups and that unless some paper work is not correct then they will in fact all clear and travel during the night to centers all over the us.. I believe that its not going to be tommrow but there is hope..

 

oh and thank god i got wusb and uwb because these featutres are the hottest things going in the laptop industry, the stuff that is comming out to work with them is going to make anyone without those features throw there laptops away....

Well think of how I feel. I ordered mine on June 12th! And I wouldn't be surprised if the next shipment doesn't go out until late August... =(

 

I received mine today , and a friend of mine who ordered on day before me 07/12/07 received his today too so I am sure soon you guys will get yours , It really worth waiting the system is like a rock solid and i like it more than my T60p

 

Think of what wifi did for people, now dumb it down a little.

Well, actually dumb it down a lot.

WUSB just lets you plug a usb device into a wireless adapter, then it can transmit wirelessly instead of thru a cable. Seems pointless IMO.

 

Anyone care to attempt and explain how some people who ordered WITH UWB after 7/11 have already received theirs, but there are still those like aadams, Skyfizer, MOnstermaxx and myself who ordered on 7/11 but still see "in process"?

Any ideas?

I have a t61 btw(no wxga+ and no camera). now my laptop is stuck in customs somewhere in kentucky =P

 

I'd have to say other parts. Did you order the 160 Full-disk encryptio nor anything else crazy?

 

I'm in a very similar boat...ordered 8/1/2007 and shipped 8/10/2007, but now the last update has my machine stuck in Kentucky "awaiting clearance". (yeah, one of the lucky ones whose late order shipped really early)

It confuses me; why does it need clearance when it's already made it into the United States?!

Ah well, should make its arrival all that more satisfying.

FOLKS. I can't believe that like a half dozen of you have your t61p's and not one person has yet told us if they got WUSB/UWB. Can someone go into Device Manager and see if they can find it? We'd really appreciate it.

My own unit appears to be on this massive "we're still clearing customs in Louisville" train. Fun. But I just saw it left KY finally and is en route to California. Suspect I'll have it tomorrow morning. Woo-hoo!

okay, I have my t61p, but it came with ITM, but no WWAN, and no UWB.

Grr.... what does this mean?

Kebs - Tell us about your order. When was it placed? Did the original order show USB/WUSB on the website / in the email confirmation? Do you remember selecting it when you ordered? (it was the default and only option for at least a few weeks)

 

For those of you stuck in Louisville customs, my unit finally left today at 3:46pm and arrived in California a couple hours ago. UPS tracking page just updated recently and displayed a whole bunch of updates at once. So.. I'd say if your unit shipped last Friday from Hong Kong and you didn't get it today, there's a darn good chance you should get it tomorrow sometime...
