Yeah I ordered on 7/12 and still have an ESD of 8/31... but I called up and complained a crap load and was pushed from expedited to this critical list of theirs, which apparently only half a dozen or so people are on right now and they're trying to keep people off.

Yet I did get that Mega-delay/Mid-september email from Leno[vo]suck (not IBM, just Lenovo ), but hopefully the critical list placement will fix that.

 

They are blowing smoke up your azz.

My order is 7/17 and I haven't see squat from them or changes to my order page. ESD is 8/17 and I ain't holding my breath.

 

5 more days till my ESD-- I'm really really praying for my own sanity that it ships on that day.

 

the only thing i dont get is if my laptop is delayed, then how the hell are other people getting their laptops built, and sent? If they are missing my 15.4 inch screen, then they must be missing that same screen for other people....

 

they must be missing more than one component to keep delaying systems. i don't get why can't the just build them in the order the orders came in. it's just that simple.

 

I just cancelled mine. Alex (my rep) told me bluntly that all T61Ps are delayed until mid september because of the WUXGA, then the graphics card (which they aparently order attached to the mobo) then the UWB in that order. In fact, here...

Frankly I believe him because I said if it was delayed past 9/1 I would cancel and this is what he told me. I doubt his job includes getting people to cancel their orders. Anyways, I would say you all just got bumped up in line but in all acuality you all just got delayed another 4 weeks. Have fun with that. I have to have something for school.

That means that motherboards are causing the delay, too.


Tony said mine was shipping next week. Tony isn't some dude in a call center, so I think what he says holds more water than some dude sitting in a cubicle with only a phone.

 

Seeing as they have completely taken 15.4 t61p's off the lenovo website, I think what Mr. Alex said might be credible. Why else would a company not take money from people basically begging for it to be taken? I guess I will be expecting my laptop in the middle of september.

I know tony said next week or whatever but everyone got e-mails saying Sept 15th and Alex (who lost money towards his sales bonus for this) said mid september too...

Also, whoever said they would get it mid september think again. The parts will get in mid september, then they build them, then they ship a batch.


EDIT: Let me say I DO hope your laptops ALL ship next week. I wish mine would ship next week. I cancelled because I have very little faith they will ship and honestly I can't wait. Even if it ships out next week I ordered ground and it's going to my house 300miles away. I just can't wait. I am the proud new owned of a VAIO from best buy. Good Luck to you all.

 

Well my T61P 14.1 SXGA+ model was ordered today an it has an ESD of 9/3/07. Does anyone know if these gpu's are on the motherboard directly similar to Apple's new Macbook Pro's with the 8600GT or a MXM II card? I hope my order ships early, but we will see. I am going to call Lenovo tomorrow and make sure no parts are on back order. If need be I will use my old X30 thinkpad till the new T61P comes in

 

Alex told me the graphics card comes attached to the motherboard FWIW.

 

No Big deal. I was just wondering. Thats probally the only way they could get it into a 14inch chassis.

 

OK, new twist to the saga. I contacted my sales rep, Lisa, (HA, I get a sexy SR instead of a dude). I simply asked if she could find out what the ststus of my order was. She got back to me moments later and said she contacted the supply manager and he said my laptop is scheduled to ship tomorrow (8/17/2007 at the very latest). It looks like I may be joining the ranks of the actual T61 owners soon.

Can you print out the full specs? I see your sig...you have an encrypted drive? what about card slot? Maybe there is some hope for the later orders

 

I spoke to a rep at the Canadian call center just Monday of this week and was told that there is a shipment of 50 (specifically) T61p notebooks scheduled to arrive at the warehouse in TO on 8/28. I was told that based on my order date of 7/27 mine would be here within that batch.

I guess I will have to call again tomorrow morning to see if things are rapidly worsening.

 

Well Tony is almost definitely referring to people who are on high priority lists (i.e. expedited or critical), since if you talk to Tony on a personal basis, you were most likely put on one of these lists.

The mid-september ESD is an estimate on when they will get enough parts to start manufacturing the T61ps at a high rate, but they will be getting small amounts over the course of a month, and Lenovo will most likely finish of the priority lists and then get to the mainstream customers and put the option to get a 15.4" WUXGA and UWB laptop back up.

This is almost entirely speculation, so please point out to me if you think differently.

 

No idea on that one. I ordered 7/24 and I know mine is delayed untilmid september. Then again I am not on any sort of critical list.

No idea bro, wish I knew. I know I'm not a critical customer. Honestly, I hope all of your lappies ship soon. I just couldn't wait. I have 30 days to return the VAIO. If the Lenovos start shipping like mad I may return it but I doubt it. I kinda like it honestly.

I just hope it makes it on a truck for delivery today. It's technically not "scheduled" until tomorrow. Depends on if they want to be overachievers.

 

Well, I just got off the phone with the Canadian reps as of 8:05am. The story is the same that was told to me on Monday.

There are 50 x T61p scheduled to arrive on August 28, 2007. My order is number 10 from the top and my order date is July 27, 2007. I was assured that I would be getting a laptop within 2 business days (I am local to the Canadian warehouse) of August 28, 2007.

All I can say is that if the 2 (different) reps that I spoke to are correct, you may have cancelled your order prematurely, as you would have likely been ahead of me in line.

Anyhow, the truth will surface in 2 weeks for me.

 

Nice LaptopGuru, mine is still sitting in Louisville, but it still says on time. Hopefully the will deliver today.

 

They were taking orders on T61p until August 15. The email that went out was the same for everyone "mid-September". It does seem unlikely to me that everyone from July 12 to August 15th would get fulfilled all on the same day. So, I'd think "mid-September" is going to be to finish cleaning up the backlog, and there will be some activity along the way.

 

I ordered July 21st - does this mean I'm with you?

I hope so; this information is specific to the T61p (6460-67U), so if that's what you have on order, I am guessing that you and I are in the same boat.

I understand that the Canadian shipment comes to a warehouse in Toronto and then is distributed out from there. I am in the GTA so I was told I would probably have the laptop within 2 days of the warehouse receiving it.

So today I get this automated email from Bill Me Later....

Problem is that the morons at Lenslowvo have now tried to double charge me for this damn machine and that's why it's declined.

It'll be interesting to see what they say when(if) I hear back from them today as promised...

 

That number in the email is USELESS. No matter when you call the will always get a machine, and they will not respond to your messages left there. Call your sales rep, even they have no direct line to them other than email but at least that appeared to solve my issue. BTW My card was declined because the CC Co. thought the charge was fraudulent due to it being out of my normal spending habits.

MonsterMaxx has the current CC issue. Luckily for me after I called my Public Sector Sales Rep my transaction has been smooth sailing. Note that my unit has shipped. I ordered at 11:58 PM CST (My first ever ThinkPad order) on 08/06/2007 and just 10 days later my unit is in Louisville clearing customs. In addition my shipping was upgraded to express for free as a result I am basically elated. And this time frame includes the declined CC issue. I hope MonsterMaxx has an equally stellar sales rep that can take care of his order.

 

My est shipping date is 8/16, today. On the Order Status page is still says "in process". is that bad?

UPS just came. I never received an invoice, but the box has a label on it with the specs. All looks good. UltrWideBandWirelessCard, UWB antenna, and 14'' WUXGAw/BTw/oWWANw/UWB.

So WUSB/UWB, but no WWAN (cellular), as expected. Cracking the box open now, more to come.

Umm, is it just me, or did you say you ordered a 14" WUXGA T61p on 7/11? Because that option wasn't possible at the time... Or did you order a T61 and wrote WUXGA by accident?

 

I filed a BBB complaint yesterday at noon and still haven't been contacted by Lenovo. I didn't give them a phone number, just my e-mail address.

It better not take until the August 30th deadline for them to reply.

Well, much to my surprise {dripping with scarcasm} Lenslowvo did NOT contact me within 24 hours as they promised in writing regarding the severe screwups they have done on my order for a $2300 machine. where their screwups have already cost me another $390, not to mention NO NOTEBOOK.

Hey Lenblowvo, you SUCK, your Customer Service Sucks, your purchasing department and communist factory sucks and my guess is the hardware sucks too and that's why you can't ship it.


I am so glad I bought the SONY VAIO, at least I have a quality machine that's usable and not vaporware.
