Hmmm....where did you get that from?? The Quadro 570M DDR3 256mb uses a 8600M GT Core. It is a higher model in fact, and it has proven to outperform on benchmarks. Of course it supports Directx 10.
Oops didn't notice the sarcasm there. =P -
nothing is compatible with dx10.1. this is microsoft's fault (and developers'/consumers' fault for not supporting opengl more). most new vid cards, the 570M included, support dx 10.0.
besides, the new features in dx10.1 are non-essential and rather unimportant. and i use linux. shrug. -
LMAO. You guys make me laugh. Everything is compatible with DX10.1. Your video card is not obsolete and it's not going to stop working. If you do a bit of research, basically it requires cards to do 4xAA and 32bit floating point filtering. A good DX10.0 card can do everything a DX10.1 card can. It will work with all the features since nothing new is being added. Basically they're giving the HW manufacturers a target to shoot for in order to get better quality. 4xAA and 32-bit FP Filtering is required on new DX10.1 cards - nothing more. It's not like SM 2 vs SM3, etc.
-
yea I think ponicq is right....directx10.1 is just like a microsoft update for its directx10, making it more efficient and stable. Everyone will get the update just like how directx9 had like directx9.0c updates ...etc.
-
should automatically be updated in windows update
-
There's a little flourish in DX10.1 for improving anti-aliasing that'd be nice to have, but really no biggie. The difference between 10.1 and 10 is nearly infintesimal compared to 10 vs 9.0c.

Actually, it seems like Directx10 is a little buggy right now because on my friend's laptop with 8400M, playing Company of Heroes with everything turned on high works smoothly, while with Directx10 it lags. Furthermore, the RAM requirement use seems to reduce when 3D10(directx10) is turned on. Less RAM use but more lag?
While more RAM use on high settings without 3D10 seems to work fine.

your ordered 2 days after i did and your esd is 2 days aftermine....lets hope they ship on time... actually lets hope it actually ships ever in our life time.
-
Okay today's my ESD. I know its still early when should I expect an email/update. Assuming that I will?
Thanks,
Aaron Snyder -
When they missed my ESD I got the email over night following the miss, kicking it out another month. Tho phrased as "1 to 30 days". So you might have such an email tomorrow morning when you check.
-
any tips on getting helpful information about my order status? i called the 1-866-96-THINK number, pressed (1) for order status, and got routed to an indian-sounding guy who just repeated the information on the order status page. i know some of the people on this thread have been able to get specific information about their order. i ordered 7/25, ESD 8/27, and i just want to know if this is realistic/where my order is in the process, etc.

you might get a email telling you order has been delayed 1-30 days, the latter being the most likely -
You know there are some visual enhancements with DX10 too...
ram isnt everything -
i just got off the phone with lenovo their suppose to be getting a shipment of screens on the 30th
-
They better because I start school on the 22nd, and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to last without a laptop!
-
hmmm....looks like my promised ESD of 8/29 will be delayed one day.
-
seems like decent news to add-- I've called a bunch of retailers today and all are receiving shipments of the t61p from august 29th-31st so I guess this is good news. Although it'll be 10 days after my ESD.(today)
-
Yah I verified that information with my EPP contact. There's a good chance that if you are on the critical list that some of us may make the 8/23 shipment. But if their stock of screens run out by then, the next shipment is 8/30 and at the very lastest the 9/7 shipment... So we'll see.
-
Wait, so there's a possibility that, if on the critical list, our laptops will ship out around 8/23? Oh I so hope this is true/what you mean!!!
-
WTF? Ok...with an order date of 07/26 and ESD of 08/28, I called Lenovo last week. They told me that they had ALL parts available for my build. So, now people are saying that there is a screen shortage possibly?
Who to believe... -__-
When I called, the guy told me that my laptop was actually built, and that it's waiting to be shipped by the end of last week or this week. NOTHING.... -__- Someone's pulling my strings... -
Same here. My ESD is 8/23 and my rep said he guaranteed it would ship on or before that date (most likely before). I'm not holding my breath at this point.
-
ctbear, they told me the same thing. as if i wasn't upset/confused enough already.
anyway how do you get on the critical list, i mean my esd was 8/16 and i got the email saying it will be delayed 1-30 days. do i have to call and ask to be put on? -
That's exactly what I mean. Don't get your hopes up. Even my rep said that 8/23 is 'best case scenario'. He owned up to the fact that large order corporations (CDW and the like) get dibs on priority because they order in bulk and quite frankly do business with them like family. But with their batch already fulfilled, they may be able to squeeze a large batch of personal orders in as well.
-
Maybe I'm reading all of this wrong, but it seems as if there are screen shortages, BUT they're not completely out of screens. A.k.a. there aren't enough screens to meet demand (ergo the shortages), but they do have enough to build some laptops. Remember, shortages means that the supply is lacking enough to meet the demand.
-
I'd think that if they only had shortages, aka not abundant but still some there, they'd be filling personal orders until they get enough to fill the large corp. orders like cdw etc.
-
There is a shipment going out on the 23rd. Tony told me so.
-
When did you order? In july? Cuz the rep told me that all orders in July are automatically placed on critical list, thus mine is on critical list last time I checked.
Or maybe it's all bull... -
Ok the rep didn't tell me anything about shortages. He said all parts are available. Maybe he purposely left that part out.
-
FYI, CDW and PC Connection each have one model in stock as of a few minutes ago.... for those who are tired of waiting and excuses.
-
Ok, so I got an official response from my J&J IBM/Lenovo rep. who stated that she has confirmed that my laptop, placed on 7/12 (and that's on the critical list), with UWB/WUSB, WUXGA Screen, and the 570m 256mb is going to ship on 9/2 with free overnight shipping and is going to be cleared with customs before it even leaves the warehouse so that I will indeed receive it on 9/3!!!
I'm so happy that I finally know when it's going to go out, but that's not even the best part. Today, my dad met with a few IBM reps and they were informed of my situation (having to wait several months...), so they said they were truly sorry and showed up at his office door with a box. Inside this box was a 100% free Advanced Mini Dock (normally $219.00). Right now I am quite happy with Lenovo's customer service... -
wow, i'd wait another month for a free dock.
-
i would too too bad i already bought one with my system
-

Its sad how you have to request compensation for the late laptops. Lenovo doesnt have the integrity to give out the same compensation/incentive to those who waited
-
A 7/12 order on the critical list not shipping until 9/2?
-
How did your dad meet with some IBM reps? Was he in North Carolina around Lenovo HQ? -
Nah, he works at J&J and they are major clients of Lenovo, so IBM often has reps placed in most of the facilities, and since my dad works in a large one, he was able to easily grab a hold of one and have lunch with him so that they could talk about my case.
-
I received a pleasant phone message this evening from a local courier company. They wanted to arrange delivery of a Lenovo laptop.
I was originally told by the Canadian CSRs that this laptop would arrive in Canada on 8/28 and be delivered after that.
Well I am pleasantly surprised, but a little bummed as I am in NY on business until Thursday, and I won't be able to get my grubby paws on it until then. -
Ordered 07/18/07 to Ship 8/20/07, was sent an email today stating my machine will now ship 9/20. Called to complain - they'll get back to me in 2 to 3 business days.
-
That's an automatic email response that says "1-30 days". When you pass your ESD, it automatically sends. Don't assume the worst case (30 days), even though this is Lenovo.
-
T61p 4:3 14" w/ Q fx 570m. Ordered 8/20. ESP: 9/6. Had to add an address to my credit card to have it shipped to me somewhere else so that may delay it, but I talked with a lenovo rep and was told that if it does go through within the next 24 hours then I could receive the computer sooner
.
-
MickM I am in the exact same situation as you. I'm just getting pissed now.
-
whoops...ignore this.
-
Ordered: 7/17
First ESD: 8/6
Second ESD: 8/20
Third ESD: 9/6
Lenovo SUCKS -
Stewie Griffin Notebook Consultant
well when you check your order status and it indeed has been delayed for 30 days, then im pretty sure its been delayed for 30 days -
Mick, I went thru the exact same thing. My canned response email said 24 hrs. I waited 24, 48, then called. They would never have called me back.
I think the boat you are in is the same as mine, Lenovo had a major screwup on orders in July and they all got lost in limbo.
Don't expect a response from Lenovo, that's just not going to happen. Don't wait, call and chase this now. The longer you wait the longer it'll be before they reenter your order and anything happens. -
Better than me
Ordered: 7/18
First ESD: 8/20
Second ESD 9/20 -
and when I complained about it yesterday, I was told that they haven't even shipped a single T61p 15" with UWB till now!
