T61p Buyers Post your Shipping Dates Here

Hi guys, i have a question:

i bought the thinkpad R61i two weeks ago. it shipped on 8/16 from shenzhen, china, then to guangzhou, china, then to anchorage, alaska, and then finally to louisville, ky.

but there's a problem:

UPS shipping told me that:

THIS SHIPMENT IS WAREHOUSED UNTIL IT IS RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY

what is a clearing agency? what is there to be cleared?

it is already warehoused in louisville, ky, which is not far from where i live in Minneapolis.

 

SHIPPING UPDATE

I ordered on 7/12 and was put on the critical list a few weeks ago. Yesterday I was told that it would ship on 9/2 with pre-customs clearing and overnight, but today I got a message from my J&J IBM rep and was told that I should expect my T61p (with WUXGA and UWB/WUSB) to ship on 8/27! It just keeps getting better and better!

edit: Just to let you all know, my rep is apparently a "Certified Global Account Executive", whatever that is... so I assume that she knows what's going on... =)

 

They got stock elsewhere...I ordered a UWB module and parts a week ago...got it 2-3 days ago. I dont know about this whole UWB scare thing.

Just going to put the UWB in myself.

 

Well, apparently there is an LCD constraint with the supplies for our laptops. They claim that that has been keeping our laptops from being built and shipped in a timely manner.


The rep I called told me something about being on an executive status?? What is that? Critical list??? Or was it just his slurred Indian accent?

He expects that my laptop will ship on the week of my ESD of 08/28

sullivan how did you order it on 8/20 and ur shipdate is 9/6? if its not on the site the lenovo reps cant even sell it to people. right?

 

Not so much. It's when a company doesn't provide an advertised product that Customer Service has to work even harder.

I'm quite sure even the most novice CSR has their "ThinkPad constraint issue" speech down pat. If you want to know more then what they are told to tell you, that's when you're either on hold waiting or told that 'there is no further information available.'

 

no jedi i meant the production workers, the people who actually assembles your laptop, not CS

 

Well. I'm just about ready to give up on OSX and my MBP (already.) I see Lenovo pulled the T61p from the website... Any idea when it will be readily available?

 

geezz...they are pulling everything...the 14.1 wxga+ have been gone for a while too

 

mid september maybe just maybe

 

Guess I'll have to tough it out with my MBP until then. :-/

 

Some strange but promising news. Ordered T61P 14.1 SXGA+ on 08/19/2007, shipped on 08/21/2007. No tracking number yet but it looks like it has shipped.

argh why is everyone's t61p 14.1" shipping but mine...and i placed my order on 8/8! ><

come on Lenovo...don't fail me now. then again...it hasn't passed my ESD yet...so wtv

 

Because their parts aren't delayed... life can be so unfair!

 

don't tell me they're short on 9-cell batteries...because that's like the only thing that's different between the two systems. that and i have 2gb ram instead of 1gb

 

My ESD is today. Yay! I just know it will ship today because Lenovo is so punctual with shipping and I have been assured by 3 reps that it will be shipped by today. So 11 hours more to go before I get a shipped e-mail. I am so happy I purchased from Lenovo. 2 thumbs up for Lenovo!

 

My ESD is 8/23.

Received an email from Lenovo:

We apologize, but we are unable to ship one or more items on your order but anticipate shipment within 1 to 30 days of this notification.

Our online order status tool displays the latest information on your order therefore a revised estimated ship date is not included in this notification. Please continue to visit the online order status tool, available 24 hours a day, to view the latest information on your order status:

But I check my order status and it has not changed. Still says the same old thing, and same ESD. Still no details of my build.

 

I received the tracking number on mine. A 2 day build time isn't bad.

 

That is very strange, my ESD is today and I have not gotten an email from lenovo. Maybe mine will actually ship today, then again im not going to lose sleep over it.

 

Are you on the critical list Tobius? There's a critical list shipment 8/23 (tomorrow) and for those of us who don't get on tomorrow's shipment, 9/7 is our next window. So let's hope Lenovo can hit their 8/23 shipment date, if for no other reason then to thin out the backlog of orders so that some of us can start getting ours.

My ESD is 8/23. Still no email, although I've received countless confirmations from CSR's that every thing is in order and ready to ship.

 

How do you know if you are on the critical list, other than calling them? Did someone say that everyone who ordered in July is on the list?

On my order form, it says that I ordered it on 7/19.

 

Well... a few people mentioned that Lenovo did that. But I wasn't gonna bank my place in line over here-say. I called Lenovo up and verified that I was... which I wasn't. So I had the rep I spoke to get in touch with their Supervisor and approved me for the critical list. So if you aren't sure, you'd probably wanna call and check on that...

 

Like I said, 8/23 may not get all or any of us shipped, but it is the next scheduled batch. You won't get the 'shipping notification' email the same minute they update your order status page, so I'd definitely check that as well to see if it changes magically from "in process" to "shipped"

No one at Lenovo's CS will promise anyone anything at this point, but they can confirm tomorrow is their next shipment.

In the process of calling lenovo..has anyone managed to figure out when they are going to get in 14.1 wxga+ screens?

 

I spoke to Jim McDonald and according to him all the people who ordered T61p's with UWB in july are on the critical list. and like someone said, they are planning to ship a batch of computers this week and the next batch on the 1st week of september.

 

Well at this point I'll take news of ANYONE's T61p (*with* UWB) shipping this week as a good sign, even if I'm not one of them.

 

anyone who ordered on Mid july (11, 12, 13th...) could get a free 9 cell battery from Lenovo. If you havent been contacted, i suggest you to send Tony Burmarch a email, telling him your situation (that your laptop has been delayed for quite awhile)

I'm sorry AtomicSpyder for not being clear. Tony offered me the battery, i did not ask. Im sure if you explain your situation amicably to Tony, he will offer you a incentive for your wait. If your order status does not change by tomorrow, you should give him a call.

 

LOL. I ordered on 7/20 and my ESD is actually earlier than yours. 8/22. I love Lenovo for their randomness. It would be just too easy to do things in chronological order and in a predictable fashion. Good job Lenovo for keeping us on our toes.

The order page still says ordered on the 19th.

Just for the record, that was sarcasm. I am sorry that I was not able to make that any more obvious. Btw my laptop has not shipped. I will be calling Lenovo tomorrow to try to get either a free ultrabay battery or a free 9 cell.

My Order date of 07/26 with ESD of 08/28 still has not shipped yet...

 

sorry to hear that, but my order on 7/20 with esd 8/22 was just delayed new esd 9/24. and if i understand correctly many who have ordered before me also have not had theirs ship. so while i feel you pain and anxiety please realize others were in line long before yourself, and you will most likely not see it shipped anytime soon ( i really hope that i am wrong on this one).

 

i ordered 7/16 with an esd of 8/16 thats been pushed back to 9/18 (this is especially unfortunate for me because im leaving for college in Canada on 8/30). Will lenovo actually give me a free gift like a battery if i were to demand it? if so, how do i ask for one? i'm not very experienced in dealing with customer service people.

 

contact Tony Burmarch and explain your situation. I dont want to double post but look up on this page.

Whatever you do, do not demand. Simply imply that you should be compensated.

 

The T61p is back up on the lenovo page for order now. Might be good news for you guys, because I doubt they would have put that backup there unless they were ready to start shipping them in mass quantities.
