T61p Buyers Post your Shipping Dates Here

I ordered my T61p on 7/20, and up until yesterday it had an ESD of 8/22. However, at 1:49am I got the following email:

When I check the order status the new ESD says 9/24, which is more than 30 days I might add. I'm just extremely upset because I started college this week and I need the laptop for most of my classes.

 

that or they just want to make more money buy having people buy it. and then everyone gets delayed even further

 

Why pull it in the first place then?

 

because too many people were getting mad and so they pulled it down to appease the anger in those people and now they're putting it back up in hopes that those people don't notice it's back up

but in all honesty....i really do hope they get their production line up and running. i want my t61p already

May be the order entry website/DB had serious issues and in certain configs that laptop orders would not process. May be it took them time to resolve those types of issues.

 

That sounds all too familiar. I ordered the same day, had same esd and got the same email with the new esd of 9/24. Hope it ships before then.

One note is that its only the 4:3 standard aspect ratio t61p thats available. If lenovo's claims of not enough wuxga screens is correct then the return of the standard aspect t61p doesn't mean a whole lot.

 

I ordered mine on 8/12 and the ESD is currently 9/14. I hope they won't delay it any further. I emailed the customer service, which got back to me after a few days, saying that the delay has to do with shortages on the screen. All too familiar... But anyways, I hope they won't push back the date any further as I don't want to wait longer in college for a lappy.

 

Well, it's 8/23. . .any "it's shipped!" stories out there today?

A few people on Thinkpads.com's forums got their shipping notices last night and today, but none for me, either.

 

that is only a month. 1 month is considered to be fast. I ordered one month before you and wont get my laptop until after 9/7/07.

Hopefully you can get yours sooner

 

my t61p 14.1" still hasn't shipped either. i thought there were no delays on that.

You take a chance either way. As long as your order is in the system and they don't see any 'problems' with it, then I'd suggest just ride it out. Just call their customer service, see what line they feed you... then make a decision from there.

 

I ordered a T61p, SUXGA, T7700 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB, 100MB 7200rpm, Vista Business 64, etc. on 7/20/2007 with an Est. Ship Date of 8/22/2007. Got an email this morning pushing the ESD to 9/24/2007. I called to cancel, was pushed to Sales. He seemed genuinely dissappointed I wanted to cancel but they wouldn't be seeing any SUXGA screens until the end of September. He mentioned that the they'll have 15.4" 1680x1050 with the 256MB 570M but not for a few weeks. I couldn't stomach waiting at least another 30 days so I cancelled my order. I'll stick with my 14" T60p for a while. All the best to the rest of you that are willing to wait.

 

is this absolute final truth ...... cos I called up on tue and was told tat ther wil 2 shipments, one this week and the next one during the sept 1st week and tat they should be able to clearup all the orders thru july

Final truth? Of course not. Because no one in direct sales really knows specfics, they pass on 'date ranges'. Some of them hit, most of them miss. That's the sad part about working customer service/sales: You're the first person a customer talks to, and often times the last person in the know.

Be that as it may... I might have to seek alternate methods to get my T61p as well if my shipment date isn't in the next two weeks. I know I haven't been waiting as long as some... But I refuse to wait a month and a half for something that random people who ordered last week are getting now. At this point WUSB is something I have no problem adding later...

 

That's what we are led to believe. Large CDW shipment plus a few individual orders seemed to go out as per what I've seen on Thinkpads.com

Truth be told, I hope this thread doesn't last another month. This has really become more of a T61p Buyer's Support Group for people who don't own one yet. All the other T61p owners have gone on to create real useable threads and already working to tweak their fabled systems... The last post I make will be when I finally get it... and won't post in this thread again... hopefully.

 

I remember the first time i posted on this forum. I was boasting how i was going to get mine shipped on 7/31/07, and laughing (not really laughing) at the people who ordered after me. Now they are the ones laughing

 

I feel bad because I still haven't opened up the T61P that I got a week and a half ago. I had ordered it with slightly wrong options and put in a new order a couple days after the first one. I thought that I would return this one and wait for the other. I'm also concerned that I won't be happy with the screen (after using Flexview UXGA's for so many years) and don't want to pay 15% just to check it out.

 

Well I'm quite sure you'll find plenty of buyer's who are willing to purchase a new system, even if the seal is broken. If you're not sure you wanna keep it... now's the time to sell it, while the market is still hot on this model.

 

I ordered a 15.4" T61p on 7/21. My ESD was today, and I had my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe mine would go out on time, but it doesn't look like it's going to. I need a laptop sooner than next month or later, but I can't find anything comparable for the price I got on the T61p. I'm thinking about milking some kind of discount out of this and trying my luck on a 14.1" version, since they seem to be shipping faster... :S

 

I ordered my t61p on 7/21 also, and today was my ESD as well. The other comprobable laptop for me is the ASUS G1S and it's 400 dollars more before all of my Lenovo discounts. I haven't received an email either way announcing that my laptop shipped or that the ESD has been pushed back, so I don't really know what to think.

 

That it will ship is what you should think .

Kinda sorta. I just reinstalled all the games I plan on playing back onto my desktop since I thought my laptop wasn't gonna ship for another two weeks or so, and that took a good amount of time. And now I get to do a clean XP install and load everything all over again.

 

t1mmer, just curious, did you get the WUXGA screen?

 

I really need some advice.. I placed my order on 7/20 and have had my ESD pushed back a few times now.. I called in about 2 weeks ago and talked to a CSR and they put me on the critical priority list which I had hoped would help things.. out of the blue a few days later I get an email saying the laptop will ship on 8/18.. looking at the calendar this is a saturday so i call them and ask what is up and they say it should ship on the 17th or 20th.. Monday comes around and no shippment..

Upon contacting them.. I get this reply..

then it was about 2 days with no reply so I checked the website again and the date was pushed back once again.. it's now showing as 9/22.. I just about lost it.. I call into CS and ask what the delay is now and they stated it was due to the LCD being backordered.. I asked about the ram issue and they had no idea and said my unit should ship the middle of september..

I really need some advice on what to do.. this is ridiculous.. I wanted a lenovo over a dell but at this point I would have been happy with a dell if i had it in hands 3 weeks ago.. I'm so close to just telling them to cancel it and go with an 830 dell.. Is there any hope? It just seems like they don't care..

 

Wow, who ever wrote you that email sounds like a moron. Is that a copy-paste? Why do you have to do a pirce adjustment on a "free of charge" upgrade?

Oooh, your specs are almost identical to mine, except I have the 80GB HDD and the fingerprint reader, and I ordered 2 days after you did. Maybe it'll be my turn soon... but I won't hold my breath

 

I got an email saying that my order had been delayed but I checked the order status and it says that it shipped today! I can't track it yet but I'm excited.

 

the emails are just automated emails that are sent when your ESD arrives.
i cancelled my t61p 14.1" today and ordered a t61 15.4" w/ quadro 570m through the education site. cheaper, better specs, 4 year warranty. doesn't get any better than that =]
