Ordered 8/18, shipped 8/24.

This is for a 14.1" version. Someone said it earlier, but I guess it's true... 14.1" ships much faster.

 

hah...i ordered my 14.1" version 8/10 and it still hasn't shipped so i cancelled it and ordered again today.

 

i dont know if that was a good idea or not.

this sounds like a trend. maybe i'll get my shipped in the next day or two

well i called them earlier and they said they couldn't do anything to speed my order up. when i told them others who ordered the same thing after me already had their systems shipped, they said cancel and reorder so that's what i did. whatever...i'm not in any sort of rush really.

 

logically how does that make sense...? reordering can make them build it faster. O lenovo, you never cease to amaze me!

Well, I got a delay notice this morning pushing my ESD back to the end of September. I was going to just cancel (I need a laptop for studio work starting a week ago but was willing to wait a bit), but I decided to call and check on things. The rep I talked to said that it should ship out within a week or two, for whatever that information's worth. We'll see. I'll wait at least that long, but if it still doesn't ship I'm going to look elsewhere for a system.

 

What are the specs on yours? I ordered the same day (8/11), so now I'm getting really anxious.

I ordered 7/21 with an ESD of yesterday. I had decided to wait a day and then order a different laptop, but when I checked the status screen it said it had shipped. I called to confirm and they gave me a tracking number, though it won't work until tomorrow.

Mad props dude. Did they contact you or did you contact them?

If you have the author's e-mail, could you please let her know that there are still people waiting on 7/11 order (myself, monstermaxx, stewie)?

Perhaps they could do a follow-up story on how serious the delays are, especially with the inconsistent ship dates (those ordering 7/21 w/ USB and receiving their machines before the 7/11 buyers).

 

Read the article Jeremy, you must know someone at PC Mag. Glad you finally got your T61p. I have uwb on my T61, have not seen anything I could use it on yet. But it is good to have for future technology. Guess a lot of people from computer and tech. companies do read these notebook review forums. Good to know.

At this point they probably give a $2 bonus for every sales call where the rep talks the T61p customer out of cancelling his order. Things will be really desperate when they start paying $2 for talking the customer into cancelling instead. . .

 

Y'know, up to now I've been just sort of bitterly resigned, but that's pretty darn annoying right there. 1). They pimped the bejebus out of UWB as one of the major nifty difference makers on the T61p. See http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/07/10/lenovo-unveils-t61p-thinkpad for an example.

And then, 2) if you were buying it off the Lenovo site the first couple weeks, YOU DIDN'T GET A CHOICE. YOU ORDERED A T61p AND YOU GOT UWB. This is the "extremely high demand for UWB technology" for which they are shocked, oh so shocked.

Grrrrrr.

 

Should have mentioned how they shipped a bunch of T61p's without UWB .

I'll do the UWB upgrade some time...

Possible if you have an hour or two to spare. I have the UWB parts waiting for my laptop to do myself. One person has already done it...another is doing it shortly.

Yes Lenovo, that's the right way to treat the customer, right.

 

If theres two identical builds except for UWB, I doubt ANY company would opt to wait for UWB to come in and then ship the UWB config first instead of shipping the one without UWB because it's already built.

Chloe contacted me through a private message on this forum. She basically just wanted to know what the status of my order was. She contacted me about 2 weeks before the article was actually published. She was pretty nice... I just hope lenovo realizes how ridiculous these order delays are through this story.

I dont have it yet. It is apparently sitting in the warehouse awaiting shipment.

I do have the UWB parts though...it took a mere few days to get them. Hard to believe it was so easy to get those and here Lenovo is holding entire months worth of shipments due to an apparent shortage.

Hopefully I'll get it within a week or so...I requested 2 business day shipping.

not that I know of. I did order some non-typical items from the standard though...

-2.4 instead of 2.2
-160GB with encryption (the harddisks are physically different than the standard 160GB from what I understand)
-No UWB on my order
-Smart Card slot.

 

I'm pretty sure the only thing thats delaying the t61p is the lack of LCD screens, so theoretically, none of those things should've made a difference unless they somehow had that exact system already built and waiting to be sold

 

Well i am peeved. The guy who ordered on 7-21 got his before me. Well i called lenovo today and guess what, mine was never going to ship because "the factory rejected my order" so of course it was going to take a long time to find out why and the CSR would call me back (sure maybe three weeks after the end of the world). I love thinkpads and that is probably why i am getting so annoyed about this whole situation. i ordered but still dont have a computer to love. where is the love man? where is the love?

 

What about your order was rejected tobius? If it is the 512MB RAM issue, then you should have been upgraded to 1GB of RAM for no extra charge. At least that's what the supervisor who's in contact with me specified.

 

For those who are posting that they have received their T61p or still waiting, please tell us your order date and the date it was shipped/ESD. Also, tell us the details of the T61p. Such as, if it has UWB or not, 15.4" or 14.1" screen, etc.

Anyway, my order status just got updated with the new ESD, 9/25/2007. That is longer than the 1 - 30 day delay they emailed me with and is longer than the 2 - 3 weeks delay that was told by my CSR.

My sig has the details of my T61p. Ordered on 7/19, price adjusted on 7/23, orginal ESD was 8/22; after adjustment, the ESD was 8/23.

 

If you're past 30 days on your order and you don't have exact details on what's going on. You need to file a complaint with Lenovo's Customer Complaint Department and start getting answers and some free stuff / money off on your order.

Go to this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=161036 and start the ball rolling Monday on your order status.

 

OK....lets get something straight here. Did anyone who ordered in the month of JULY with UWB receive their laptop?

I want to know because it seems like a lot of those people are just canceling and reordering. I really don't want to do that. Is it possible for them to even ship my laptop anytime now?

finally mine got shipped... I guess calling up CSR and complaining a lot does have its effects.....

 

I got an email this morning that mine shipped yesterday sometime (I'd checked several times yesterday, but whatever) along with a UPS tracking number that's active and showing it leaving China.

This was a 7/17 order with UWB (couldn't get anything else at the time from lenovo.com) with an original ESD of 8/17 that was pushed back to 9/19 by email on 8/18. 8/30 estimated delivery from UPS as I didn't get any fancy shipping.

So, yay! . . . as long as it's okay when it gets here. Any rate, something new to worry about!

ESD on T61 is 9/12 as of today
Not great, but better than ESD for T61p

 

does ur shipping type indicate EXPRESS? mine does, but doesn't show estimated arrival date. Right now its IN TRANSIT TO LOUISVILLE.

 

I dont know why is was rejected. The CSR was supposed to research that and call me back, but has not yet and since its the weekend I have no hope of that till monday. As for the ram issue i know that its not that becuase i ordered 1gig one stick. Hopefully i will have more info on monday.

 

Mine shipped the 24th, this is after getting an email on the 20th telling me It wasn't shipping untill Sept 20th.

if ur running vista it requires more then 512 ram.. lenovo wont ship without enough ram to support the operating system..
