Personally i took the T7500, i've heard that 3GB is not really essential, but it really depends on what you're using the laptop for, as the T7300 can hold its own.

 

Well, being that Lenovo offered to replace some of our delayed systems w/ wsxga+ screens instead and get them out w/i a week, it would make sense to me that the delay is more apparent on wuxga screens, otherwise they couldn't make offers like that...

 

RAM is cheap right now but not through lenovo. RAM is easy to install in the T61(p) so you will save lots of $$$ by ordering your laptop with the minimum amount of RAM and upgrading from there. See the RAM DEALS thread for more info.

Wait, where did this come from? Did lenovo email you and ask if you wanted to change your screen option? If so, when did you order?

I ordered mine on the 20th, it shipped the 22nd.

 

Mine shipped 9/23 (ordered 9/13) and is scheduled to arrive 9/25.

 

Can i see your configuration? It seems like there is a delay on another part of the t61p, some people have been guessing it's bluetooth.

 

Could be since I didn't order BT.

Well now I'm bummed. Mine still hasn't shipped and it doesn't look like the bluetooth is causing the delay since your configuration has bluetooth. So what is it????

 

Just received it today the 25th. So 5 days from order until I got it. Came with the classic IBM Thinkpad logo too.

 

I'm guessing it's something not related to the parts? My config is VERY similar to yours:

Yep, I see a few more differences. I order with WinXP, 160GB HD and 6 cell battery. Thats it.

I'm going with the HP 8510p. It's basically the same specs so hopefully it'll be nice! I'm a bit dissapointed at loosing out on the t61p, it did sound like an awesome piece of kit...

Unfortunately, for me, I have just called in and canceled my WUXGA order (placed 8/11). My current laptop has been broken for a few months, and I finally found someone on eBay selling the replacement parts for more than 50% less than everyone else. My 5 year old laptop is now repaired and perfectly functioning again

A new laptop would've been nice, but I replaced the screen on this current laptop a couple years ago with a brand new one, and it still looks great. I was afraid I'd be taking my chances with the T61p (with all the reports I've been hearing of less than excellent screen quality), and didn't want to risk a 15% restocking fee on top of all the troubles I've already been through.

Perhaps in 6 months supply and screen quality won't be an issue and I'll take another look at Thinkpads again.

Good luck to everyone else, I hope everybody gets theirs shipped soon and meets their every expectation.

Ok is Lenovo still offering WUXGA screens on T61p???????
I called in the other day because my newly arrived T61p, ordered on 7/26, shipped Sept. 28, which is yesterday, died within 1 hour. It asked to restart itself after updates, and now it will no longer boot up. The screen is BLACK. I can here the hdd spinning but that's it.

When I talked to the rep, I was told that I can not get a replacement for a CONFIGURED system and that they no longer make WUXGA laptops, and so they no longer carry anyore WUXGA screens. WTF???

Question: I finally got something other than "Billing Received" on my UPS tracking for my T61p. But I don't see where it says expected delivery date. Is that not given until it clears customs? Also, my computer left Hong Kong, arrived in Anchorage, AK and then got shipped to Louisville, KY. Is that where customs is? 'cause I live on the west coast and seems like my computer is traveling around a bit.

 

Mine did the same, it went to Louisville, KY. I'm in Arizona. There must be something in Louisville...

ETA: Ok, I called UPS, it was in Louiseville, KY and is now headed back. Its already been cleared by customs and suppose to be delivered tommorrow morning.

 

Ordered my T61p on 9/27/07.... got an e-mail telling me its going to ship today (I assume that means tomorrow, 10/1/07). Talk about fast!

 

I finally got an email back from customer support. I ordered my WUXGA laptop on 8/18 and they told me it will ship 10/6. I don't know if I believe them or not. YMMV.

 

Ordered the WUXGA T61p on 8/7, I was also told 10/6 is the shipping date. We'll see.

 

Man, I hope it's true rather than some universal lie.

The fact that they also listed that for you gives me more hope.

They will tell you anything to keep you from taking your money to a company that has computers to sell, and the NEW INTEL CPUs are just a FEW WEEKS AWAY. The new CPUs will be 15-40% faster and use 1/3 less power.



Our computers will be obsolete before we get them!!!

What screen does it have, and when did you order it?

 

So my T61p notebook arrived and came with two screws in a baggie. Are these extras? or am I suppose to stick them somewhere?

 

they are to lock the ultrabay device in place..probably your dvd player that came along..its normal

 

Its got a samsung. See sig for order/ship dates. As for the screen to be honest yes there is some light leakage but its only noticeable on a totally black screen and even then its not as bad as people make it out to be. Seems like you only hear about the bad on the forums. Just buy it if you want it.. quality is above and beyond any other brand out there imho.

 

I ordered it on 09/26 and have a shipping date of 10/15. No sign of a change on the Lenovo website order status page.....

All it says is 'In Process'.

 

today is 10/6, just checked the order status, still shows 'in process'.

WTF? We all have been waiting the WUXGA since August, but your order placed in late Sept has already shipped!

 

I don't get it either. The ESD was 10/25, and based on what I was reading here I didn't expect it to ship before Thanksgiving.

Unless, of course, the person who interpreted my order misread "WUXGA" for "WSXGA+" and never bothered to refund the extra $200 I spent to get it...

I suppose I'll find out this Friday when I get it.
