I looked at the M1330 as well. Honestly, I didn't like it too much. The Keyboard seemed so-so to me and the nic is only 10/100 - no gigabit. I am a programmer (road warrior consultant) by trade and need something reliable, portable, powerful and light. When I saw the M1330 in person I knew I would break it sooner rather than later.
2 weeks seems reasonable to me too. I am just nervous about experiencing any delays as the other have.

Just got mine today, a day ahead of UPS's delivery schedule. =D
I still think it's strange though... I got mine less than two weeks after I ordered it... and it sure as heck is WUXGA...
I'd love to see is how Lenovo prioritizes their builds. One thing that makes me somewhat sick is that my laptop was built before many of yours, who have been waiting months longer than I have for the same thing... I don't think it's fair to all of you....
But I am very happy with what I have in front of me. -
theterminator93,
How did you order yours? (any particular web portal?).
i spoke to someone today who swears to me they haven't had any WUXGA screens available to ship in over 3 months, and when i reference these forum posts, they were dumbfounded.
For work we'd ordered a total of 17 of the WUXGA systems back in July, the orders were officially canceled last week due to procurement issues. Lenovo finally cleared up the financial mess etc. We ended up w/ Hp systems which arrived in a week, and the ARCGIS teams are loving them. (wonder if any of these will eventually show up on that lenovo outlet site...).
With regard to my personal system back in July as well, but now looking at a November ESD. I think their fulfillment and processing centers are a bit...messed up ;|. Ah well, I'm going to hang w/ it for my personal system, but for work, we're working to change our preferred supplier at this point.Attached Files:

Yes indeed it would. I am sure there is some method to their madness, but so much of it just seems to be random noise, luck of the draw. There are so many portals from which to order with different prices, options, etc. The IBM site says my computer is ready to ship on 10/11 but I haven't received any confirmation. I do understand that these are just estimated shipping dates, but Lenovo has got to realize the expectations that come as these dates approach and then the subsequent disappointment when they don't meet them and fail to keep their customers updated and in the loop.
-
Here one more joining the gang. This my first notebook, so i can not wait to get my hands on it. Here are the specs

Pleasantly surprised is all I can say.
Ordered just five days ago. I'm sorry about the rest of you guys. It's messed up you've been waiting this long.
Does Express shipping through UPS entail faster than ground shipping because I choose the free shipping option? -
I chose the express shipping and mine shipped today (apparently). I'll tell you how soon it gets here!!
-
Maybe we'll get it at the same time seeing as we both live in L.A.
Lenovo site still says UPS Ground, but UPS says Express. Hopefully I'll have it in my hands by Monday. -

Mine is a common laptop, why still in process? someone order with me in same day has got his T61 4 days ago,I decide to cancel the order if it still not ship next Monday. -
My estimated shipping data 10/11 has passed with a new ESD of 10/30....that stinks....my only guess as to what is causing the delay is the T7300 CPU or the thinkpad abg...or perhaps because I ordered through their higher education portal I am low guy on the priority list. Too bad they don't inform you about what is causing the delay...After waiting for two weeks with great anticipation, I am sure a lot of people would gladly fork over some extra cash to upgrade to a part/option that is available in order to get the thing in their hands.

Actually irfrausto, reading that again I think it's in transit (i.e. on a plane) to Ontario, CA.
The UPS website is very confusing.
Usually it says 'Out for delivery' when it's on their delivery truck.
This totally sucks as I'm getting it sent to my girlfriends work, if they try and deliver tomorrow it'll be closed.
DAMN!! -
UPS doesn't deliver on weekends I believe. You'll probably get it on Monday.
Our T61's are probably on the same flight.
-
Who can tell me how to complain in phone may make them speed up my schedule?
-
It sounds like they are mate.
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! I could've done with it this weekend too.
-
There's a little story to go along with that, so here goes...
Back around Labor Day, Lenovo had a 25% off sale going. I had wanted a T61p for a few months now, so I decided to take the offer while it lasted. I placed my order and everything seemed normal until they canceled my order on the basis that my credit cards didn't go through.
Then at the end of September, I checked their website again to see what kind of sales they had going on, and I saw that nothing special was up. So I went in and configured my T61p to see how much it would cost normally. Lo and behold, the WUXGA screen is an option here this time, for an extra $200. I knew that it was discontinued due to the massive backorder, so I decided to snatch the opportunity to get it while I could.
After reading many posts in this thread, I figured that I'd be lucky to receive it by the end of November, even though their ESD was 10/25. Each night I'd check the status of the order at directlenovo.com and last Saturday, to my complete surprise, I saw that it had shipped. Immediately my reaction was, "They screwed up my order and substituted WSXGA+ for my screen." But they didn't, and I'm even more dumbfounded how all that worked.
So the answer to your question is just lenovo.com. -
I think we are in the same boat. my ESD was yesterday and it has been pushed back to the 31st. I selected the T7300 and the thinkpad abg. However, I ordered mine via the IBM EPP portal.
tinkerbot's order is also appears to be delayed, he has the T7300 but the intel abg. So I guess it's safe to say its the T7300?? -
Looks like the T7500s are in abundance. I was almost going to go with the T7300, but figured the extra $70 was well worth it.
Apparently it took so long to get to California because the plane stopped in Anchorage, Alaska from its departure in Hong Kong. It's now sitting at the Ontario airport until Monday. -
Hahahah I noticed that too!!!! Damn I want my friggin laptop (and my girlfriend wants hers back)
Hasn't mattered today, England have beaten France in the Rugby World Cup Semi Final so I'm going to spend most of the rest of the day quaffing many ales
WOOHOO!! -
you think it's the 7300? They keep saying WSXGA screen contraint. But who really knows, I guess, they could say anything and it wouldn't really matter...sigh.
So, I called them twice after my ESD 10/11 came and went. First they said ESD was pushed back to 10/15. Then they said 10/19. Rats...I got mine with a college discount. Maybe that makes it lower priority or something?
.I bet I won't get it for another month. I wonder why they keep pushing back the ESD over the phone by matter of days instead of weeks?
Website says ESD is 10/30! (although customer service guys said not to go by website...but again who knows).
Had a dream last night that I was in a fist fight with Lenovo customer service guy and was so angry I just wanted to slug him. It was pretty disturbing. I try so hard in real life to be compassionate and non-violent...Can't believe this whole ordeal is getting to me so much. -
Maybe it's worth getting on the phone and asking for the upgrade to the 7500 as you've waited so long. If there's a large backlog on the 7300 I'm surprised it doesn't flag that up when ordering (I know the Dell website indicates if a component will cause a delay in shipping).
Strange as I thought the backlog would be on the 7500 as the website indicates it's a popular upgrade..... -
I called about doing an upgrade. The sales rep told me that if I did so, he would have to pull my order out of the queue, apply the upgrade, and then it would be placed back at the bottom of the queue. He said this would only delay my order further. I guess they have designed an order system which discourages upgrading once the initial purchase is made...I guess they really don't want anymore of my money. what a shame as both parties are losers in this case.
-
My T61p is now at the UPS facility in Sylmar, California. The truck is going out tomorrow.
-
That sucks big time
Fingers crossed their latest ship date is correct, I know what it like continually waiting for something to be delivered
-
All my UPS is saying is:-
LOS ANGELES, CA, US 10/13/2007 6:03 A.M. IN TRANSIT TO
In transit since yesterday?!! From Ontario Airport??!!
I said to my girlfriend yesterday it would be just my luck the laptop was in a UPS truck involved in that massive big rig pile up on I-5 the other night!!!
-
Not sure what's on backorder myself. I have the following configuration which I ordered on 9/25 with an original ext. ship date of 10/12... on the 12th it was changed to 10/30.

ESD changed to 10/17 this morning.
-
I'd settle for a two day bump any day over a 30 day bump. At least systems are coming out of the barn pretty quickly nowadays...
-
Very true. I guess I was expecting it to be delayed. If it doesn't ship this week, I may just cancel and wait for them to get caught up. By that time the next version may be out and I can just get in on the first round of backorders.
I am regretting not configuring this one with WUXGA. I have it on my 3 year old Dell XPS and I love the extra real estate. -
I hear ya. My T61p is in the shop, and I'm waiting for my X61 tablet to ship. The X61 followed the same pattern as my T61p -- promise fast shipping on the web site, bump it a little in the checkout process, bump it a little more in the confirmation email, and bump it another week for good measure on the web status page
Frustrating.
The WUXGA is nice. I still have really good eyesight and enjoy the real estate a lot. I'm sure the SXGA+ will be a great machine, though. -

Just got mine. See my story HERE. I need to get a laptop sticker -- PM me if you have advice or threads I should look at.
I can't take the black. Wish that Colorwarepc had the T61p -- but they only have the T60. I would go with Ubuntu-Brown:
I also think it is a mistake. They should either be honest from the start, or bump it all at once in the checkout process (so you can make a real choice).
I like the WUXGA is nice for work, but not good for play.
- The backlight bleed is bad for movies.
- The response time is going to cripple you in games.
? Is the WSXGA+ better on bleed and response time ? -

Logged into Lenovo this morning just to see if anything changed and the ESD has changed to 11/15. Oh well, at least my current laptop is still running.
-
News flash: Dell, HP and everyone else builds their machines in China too.
-
Hey if it says my estimated shipping date is 10/24 (I confirmed this this morning), and I live in the northeast USA, and it ships on the date estimated, how long would it take to get from Hong Kong to the east coast, through regular shipping?
-
Probably two or three days if the UPS tracking thing says "Express". By the way, I'm posting from my new T61p.
-
Ok guys, I got an email from lenovo saying that my laptop has been delayed to the extent that they have to automatically cancel the order in 10 days unless I agree to wait for it. At this point I'm considering just cancelling the order (WUXGA T61p).
I called the outlet, they have basically nothing.
What would you all do? I still need a laptop... but what should I get? -
Placed an order today (10/16) for a T7300 wsxga+ 15" T61p. Estimated ship date: 11/16.
This may change I suppose, but if not... ouch. -
Yeah I got mine last night too. I absolutely love it, what an improvement over any laptop I've ever owned.
Strange it has an Intel Centrino label on the laptop but I've scoured the forum and have seen it's to do with the Santa Rosa Chipset and the Wireless N.
I'm mulling over whether to do a clean install.... Seems a massive amount of work....
I haven't been able to get the bluetooth working yet either, something I want to do badly as my old Nokia phone is on it's last legs and I want to copy all the numbers from it to the laptop!!! -
Wireless N + Santa Rosa Chipset = Centrino Pro sticker
I'll do a clean install for next time (don't have the anytime upgrade DVD), but you can get a pretty clean install through Rescue and Recovery by using custom options and unticking all software. The installer will only add the drivers necessary to boot the system plus some other programs that can be uninstalled easily. I got by boot time under forty seconds.
Haven't tried bluetooth between the T61 and my phone yet.
Oh, and I'm so glad I went with the WSXGA+ option. Anything smaller and I would be squinting. -
Yeah the screen is fantastic. I have never used Vista before (using XP here at work) and I think visually it's a vast improvement on XP. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs elsewhere!
When I connected to the net it downloaded about 30 driver updates. Something on the Thinkvantage too about some security chip that has to be activated!!
I think I have a 'bit' of reading up to do
-
Did you end up with the Samsung or the LG screen?
-
Good question, I'll be honest I have no idea. I'll have a look when I get home and post it up here
-
Placed an order today for a WSXGA+ 15.4" T61p, est shipping date is 11/16.
Let's hope it doesn't take anywhere near that long. -
Ordered WSXGA+ 9/26 - ESD 10/15 -- Yesterday (10/15) ESD reset to 11/15
Spoke to customer service (same guy I ordered from). I offered to work with
him to change my order in order to relieve whatever was constrained. He told
me the constrained part was the actual shell. He offered to add me to a
priority list and said he'd ship 10/23.
I've just checked the web and it's still showing 11/15.
