Indeed I did, but from what little info they gave in my cancellation, they indicated it was a credit card issue. Will update tomorrow.
-
-
I hope it was an Amazon issue and not to do with the office thing (no hard feelings). I hope my order isn't affected since I payed with paypal...
I'd be pretty upset if they cancelled my order especially when the ship date is on the 12th. -
Yeah it's so strange, it's definitely a certificate issue, I tried IE but that didn't work but then I tried using my phone it works (after accepting the certificate), it worked a few days ago on my computer.
-
I also had a credit card issue (address not verified or something) I called them and they set up a conference call to the bank so that they can verify me, I did that and in just a few minutes they processed my order. Before they did that though they said that they might hear my security answers but the bank didn't ask any of that I think because when the conference call started I had to put in my PIN with the keypad, which I think (and hope) the Lenovo rep can't see, so the bank instantly knew it was me and told the Lenovo rep that.
-
Mine has been In Production since the day it was changed to the 9th. I'm not going crazy here, because I was unable to take the trip to the States this year and will not see the machine (except for skype calls) until August.
-
Mine is still "Released to Manufacturing" and the apparent shipping date is in two days....anyone else like this?
-
Mine has the same status with a estimated ship date of tomorrow
-
I just ordered a T530 with HD screen. On the website it says 15.6" HD (1900 x 1080) LED Backlit AntiGlare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready... Is this HD or FHD? Now I'm worried I might receive the crappy 1366x768 screen. What should I do if I do receive the lower resolution screen? Is this supposed to be Lenovo's mistake?
-
Just contact them.
Are You also take nvs 5400m? -
That thing with the 1900 x 1080 is pretty annoying, honestly. We all know that it's 1920 x 1080, but we also know that they know that they've left that like that for years...I think...I've seen talk of it elsewhere from people while ordering other older systems.
It's a simple solution: find someone who can change a "0" to a "2". But I think that they must be leaving it that way on purpose, or maybe they made it like that on purpose to begin with. -
If you picked the first option (no matter what it says on the menu, which is wrong), I'm afraid you made a mistake: it's HD ("the crappy 1366x768 screen") and not FHD.
The FHD is the third (last) option, which also carries a $250 upgrade fee from the HD.
Cancel the order. -
Spoke to them and my order was scrapped due to credit card security issues, not because of Office. I placed it again, but it looks like my build and ship date are pushed back. Not happy.
-
Mine is marked as 'Shipped' today. Tracking number and everything.
Shanghai - Export scan
China - Processed and ready for UPS -
Mine still showing order received with ship date of tomorrow. I chat again with them and they tell me don't worry about this status and that everything is fine!!!
-
My T430s is allegedly shipping tomorrow.
-
I hope ALL the early birds post an unbox vid !!!
-
My T530 that I ordered on 6/6 was shipped today. UPS says I'll be getting it this Friday
-
Really? And I have to wait until tomorrow to mine ship...
-
Same for my x230t, pretty excited
-
ahh, I envy you two. Mine was expected to ship on 6/11 but it looks like that has already come and gone. Hopefully tomorrow!
-
Xeroday You have version with nvs 5400m?
-
That was Zaz. It'll only be a matter of time before a BIOS mod is available is my guess.
Lucky, I ordered on 6/6 too and still says will be released to shipping on 6/13, so won't be until next week for me. -
when configuring the w530, there are these options:
Color sensor
- No Color Sensor
- No Color Sensor with/Bezel [add $0.00]
whats the diff? -
^^^ First option: the palmrest has no provision for color sensor at all, looking nice. Second option: the palmrest has a rectangular "hole" that is filled with a rectangular "bezel," presumably allowing one to install a color sensor later, looking not so nice.
Personally, I would rather order option 1 if I do not need the color sensor, and order color sensor (factory installed, through that "hole") if I do need one.
Anyway, this did happen to me over two years ago: I ordered NO color sensor, and Lenovo shipped my laptop with a palmrest WITH a "bezel" in it!!! -
yeah, but there is no option for having the color sensor at all, its only those two options, so why even leave a bezel hole?
-
Because certain people like holes.
Anyway, Lenovo config pages are never famous for being consistent or logical. Most W5X0 config pages do show "color sensor."
See that "bezel"? -
That (W530) hole was also cheaper by about 8 dollars and if so, why not?
-
My T430 shipping date was supposed to be today but I do not think it is shipping today. I chat with an agent and he told me one interesting piece of sh.. that the ship date means that the machine ships anytime during this week and not the specific date, really?!
-
The new ThinkPads come with "MiniDisplayPort with audio" Can someone translate this to me into real-life utilization in some detail?
-
It means that video and audio can be carried over on the same cable.
-
That is the hard part for me. I understand what you just said but a monitor would have an HDMI, VGA, DVI, or DP, right? So, it does not have a mini-DP? So, what is the advantage of having a mini-DP output on the machine?
-
VGA and DVI do not carry sound, but there are VGA and DVI cables that have a 3.5mm jack plug attached to them for the purposes of connecting to speakers.
HDMI and DP already carry sound through their cables, so no additional 3.5mm audio jacks are needed. -
mini-DP is simply a small plug version of DP. Most wires you use will change the shape into full DP (or another plug, if you'd like). If the television (or whatever you're plugging into) supports it, then plugging a DP cable with audio in will transmit both the image and audio to the device, eliminating the need for a second set of cables.
-
I am either ignorant or ignorant
Honestly, I do not see the value of this sh... port and it would be smart to put an HDMI port instead. Apple finally acknowledged that and added it in their new Retina Display MacBook Pro. Correct me if I am wrong regarding if this mini-DP carries certain advantage/utilization for a wide array of customers
-
I'm not a huge DP fan, and I use VGA for the most part, but if you need to use something other than DP, there are plenty of converters, including to DVI, HDMI, VGA and more, so in a sense, it's very flexible.
-
I think that licensing is cheaper with DP than with HDMI
And the current spec for HDMI only allow up to 1080p resolution while DP allow higher. If you want to connect it to you 30" monitor you need 2560x1600. -
HDMI is less usefull than mDP. mDP and DP ports are technical better and cost less than HDMI. It is also more a consumer than a business-standard. mDP is also smaller than HDMI.
-
But you will have to connect it again through a converter to an HDMI or DP to get the sound on the monitor if it has sound as in a TV (HDMI) or Dell Ultrasharp (DP) but I do not know of a common monitor that has mini-DP input and also my understanding is that Lenovo only cares about getting the cheaper and not the more usable. Anyway, I gave upp on Windows PC companies but again I have to live with it. I really do not mean to make people bothered with their machines but it is just very difficult to find your perfect Windows PC!
-
Maybe Lenovo is thinking that mDP is winning on the market, so they went that way. There are also many existing converters for mDP to any other monitor port. And mDP is thinner, DP is to thick for an Ultrabook like the X1 Carbon. Maybe they wanted to have a unified port on all ThinkPads.
Ok, thats not my understanding of lenovo.
-
I am sorry but I do not think they are smart or thinking about unifying things or any of that. First, why would for example I get an mDP-VGA converter and the machine already has VGA output. If they wanted to make things unified as you say, I guess they would also care to change the DP in the docking station to mDP!!!!
-
hdmi is the common consumer standard for TVs, but mDP is the new standard for monitors as they require higher bandwidth for higher resolution.
-
Well, I see that DP but not mDPs are common in business monitors. Please, give me examples of professional monitors that have the mDP
-
Nobody told you to do so. For now, VGA remains on ThinkPads.
Why should they? That they kept DP on the Dockings is a nice option for the users to get a native DP port. There are also no room-problems on a docking like on a notebook.
They are not as stupid as you think.
-
The odd thing for me is that my Paypal payment is still pending.
-
DP is the replacement for DVI and VGA. HDMI is the replacement for Component. HDMI isn't really common outside of consumer notebooks and HDTV's.
I would prefer Full sized DP rather than mDP, but HDMI is stupid. It's a inferior standard from a technical point of view, and it's less common unless you are hooking up to an HDTV.
mDP is smaller than DP, and it fits on more notebooks. I think that Lenovo wanted a unified digital video port across all Thinkpads, and because they are releasing Thinkpad ultrabooks where full DP won't fit, mDP won out. Also, mDP is the port for Thunderbolt.
I would expect to see more mDP monitors. Due to the whole push for ultrabooks thing along with Thunderbolt, the industry is moving towards mDP.
Also, there are mDP-DP cables. No need for an adapter. -
If you are transferring funds out of a bank account linked to Paypal, it takes a few days to clear.

Hello
i orderedW530 with no optical drive and a 500GB 7400RPM Hard Drive and 4G memory.
Also I ordered from best buy Corsair - Vengeance 2-Pack 16GB 1.6GHz DDR3 SoDIMM Laptop Memory Kit to upgrade the memory. Is this the right one for w530?
should I buy another 4GB memory to make it 24GB?.
Is there any suggestion for the hard drive
Thank you
Corsair - Vengeance 2-Pack 16GB 1.6GHz DDR3 SoDIMM Laptop Memory Kit - CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10 -
i think you need to keep it even 8-8-8 or 4-4-4
-
I honestly don't understand why the mini-DP is such an issue for you. Here are the reasons why this is a good option.
1. DP supports higher resolutions compared to HDMI.
2. DP can be easily converted to HDMI, DVI, or VGA.
3. Mini-DP is smaller compared to DP, which is necessary for the Ultrabook-ish ThinkPads, where space is at a premium.
As far as the VGA adapter - it's not for users who have notebooks with VGA. Several of the thinner systems no longer come with VGA out. The adapter is for them. -
Lenovo is also trying to move onto thunderbolt with this mDP switch too.
