except that they only have 2 models of their entire line up (which is more than 30 notebooks) with that interface. Design wise the change is minimal

Anchorage, AK, United States 06/12/2012 9:50 P.M. Arrival Scan
Shanghai, China 06/13/2012 5:42 A.M. Departure Scan
Shanghai, China 06/11/2012 11:34 P.M. Export Scan
China 06/11/2012 7:18 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
The arrival scan happened before the departure scan. So, maybe they're shipping it backwards in time. I hope Lois Lane doesn't come back to life again. -
Your notebook just crossed the international date line.

It's the same effect I have been planning for a New Years celebration for years:
- 31st of dec: party in Thailand
- 1st of jan: board the plane for Hawaii (I actually did check, there are flight available to achieve this, short stop in Japan on the way)
- arrive in Hawaii on 31st of dec last year
and have another new years party

If you order anything from Newegg, don't assume that they'll ship it signature required, even if you express that that is what you'd like.
They leave it up to the discretion of the delivery driver. Who may not know the neighborhood very well.
My old, once blissful, neighborhood had a drug related car bombing a couple of years ago, so obviously it has gone downhill (yeah, that is America, even in some of the once very nice areas of CT). The UPS driver decided to leave my memory on the porch...which is not enclosed. Frankly, I don't know if it was taken in by my family. But leaving it in an unenclosed area is not a good idea.
When I asked newegg about this, I got a reply with "Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you in advance for understanding..." Well, I don't understand and sorry doesn't change stupid actions.
I'll have to wait a few hours to see if I'll be buying that same memory off of ebay from the neighborhood dealers.
Newegg obviously isn't run by very smart people. -
-
My neighborhood is also questionable at least in regards to petty thefts. If he doesnt leave my package at the back porch I have very little hope that it will be there when I get home from work.
My x230T is somewhere between AK and KY. Here's hoping it doesnt get hung up in Customs.

My T430 was supposed to ship yesterday 6/12 and it did not and the ship date did not change. Contacted Lenovo but no one can help with anything!!! So frustrating

Does the T430s have the same HD+ panel like the T430? If this question cannot be answered as of now, what was the case for their ancestors?

06/13/2012 12:35 P.M. The customer was not available on the 1st attempt. A 2nd attempt will be made.
Unfortunately UPS will not let me pickup from their depot or redirect my package to a UPS store untill after 2 failed delivery attempts. -
Dell does not do this. Unfortunately I needed a Tablet -

Through the previous year, no one could give me a convincing answer why the W520 or even the new W530 are priced less compared to T520 or the new T530 respectively when you customize them with the same exact specs (actually the W530 has higher graphics) using the same exact discount coupon or website whether they are both discounted or not? They are both the same chassis and pretty much everything is exactly the same including the display.
Does anyone have the magical answer for me please and why one would get the T530 and not the W530 if the latter is cheaper with same or higher specs? -
Is the dGPU in T530 "significantly" less demanding than the dGPU in the W530?
-
If this is a valid question, which of these two processors is more powerful: i7-3520M (dual core, 2.9 up to 3.6) or i7-3610QM (quad core, 2.3 up to 3.3)? Are there any benchmark comparison out there for these two?
-
The rule of thumb that I tell people nowadays regarding CPUs is this: If you're the sort of user that's unsure of how much CPU power you need then you probably don't need much at all, so get the cheapest chip you can. -
-
The 3520M will be faster in less multithreaded tasks due to higher clocks on each of its fewer cores, the 3610QM will be faster at more multithreaded tasks due to more cores.
NoteBookCheck has a good laptop CPU benchmark list, has both CPU's on it.

As for the difference between the T5x0 and W5x0, the W5x0 power brick is really really big and heavy due to the higher power requirements. The power brick is also not compatible with standard Thinkpad power bricks.
As for UPS being stupid, how is that Lenovo's fault. -
-
If you are a heavy browser user, a quad-core processor can be helpful. Also, add plenty of RAM to keep all those processes and threads (those 100s of tabs) in memory, avoiding "paging."
EDIT: Saw your edit above after posting my comment. -
One of the reasons I also try to stick to the dual core is that I do not need (and actually try to avoid) dGPU (power and cost-saving) -
^^^ Each tab is a separate process (a copy of Chrome itself) that has its own data structures and spawns concurrent threads to handle per-page contents. All those things demand both CPU and RAM resources.
Say, you open 50 tabs. That translates to 50 concurrent Chrome processes. Each Chrome process, in turn, manages a set of concurrent threads, say 40, within its own address space. So, in total, there are 2,000 threads.
EDIT: HD Graphics 4000 is available on both dual- and quad-core processors, no? Anyhow, it's your choice. -

how many memory slots are there in the w530?
for example, when i configure it, it says 4gb takes up 1 dimm slot. i'm trying to price out extra memory at newegg but i dont know if the w530 has 2 slots or 4 slots. where can i find out? -
-
wow i'm retarded cause on the config page it has options for example 16gb (4 dimms) lol
-
Doubt you'll see notice any benefit from going quad in the described tasks, but you will notice the change from 65W to 170W power brick for sure -

can anyone tell me which of these new thinkpad modems will work in Europe:
-Qualcomm Gobi 3000 WWAN card
-Ericsson HSPA+ WWAN Minicard (H5321gw)
-Integrated Mobile Broadband (Sierra Wireless MC7700 - Gobi 4000 for AT&T LTE and HSPA+)

Lenovo, are you kidding me?! You state you are offering a free display upgrade then you increase the FHD upgrade to $250 instead of $200 on the T530. Those people denigrate customers' minds.
-
The upgrade from HD+ to FHD costs still 200$.
Free Display upgrade only covers the upgrade from HD to HD+. -
-
Oh, yes, you are right. After reloading the customizing page, the price for the upgrade changed from 200$ to 250$. Maybe that was my browser-caches fault.

Louisville, KY, United States 06/14/2012 11:13 A.M. This shipment is warehoused until it is released by Clearing Agency.
Looked this up, and it seems to be par for the course, as it were.
I don't know whether this will mean the delivery happens tomorrow or Monday. Too bad I have to inconvenience other people with being on-lookout.
Interestingly, as far as my memory from Newegg, the package was gotten off the porch by the proper people. However, that very night there was a rash of thefts from neighbors' garages. -
-
Mine is estimated for Sunday delivery by Lenovo - previously for Friday (tomorrow). -
-
Mine was just imported by customs. UPS has again projected delivery for tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
-
Mine is also in KY going through Customs....sigh.
I hold out very little hope of anyone trustworthy being available Monday or Tuesday to accept delivery without me taking a day off of work. -

Could u order T430s from US to EU?
