Please do it through xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx since he's the one that got us onto the 25% discount. The only reason I did it the second time with xxxwas because he spent time doing my first order.

Can someone answer this? And do I have to pay extra to buy the DVD drive on the ultrabase?
-
That thing is so overpriced. If you just need the DVD drive, buy an external USB one. On Newegg they're $30-45. I got an ASUS one for $25 after rebate and it works perfect
-
Unless you need the dvd drive on the go, get the mini dock instead of the ultrabase. It's sturdier imo and also much cheaper. Get it on ebay.

so i have to wait till monday? can i just placed the order and ask him to upgrade it later.
im afraid it will even slow down for another 1 business day. -
I just chatted with a rep and she said that she'll put in the request to cancel my order but I need to wait 2-3 days to know if the request goes through. Should I play it safe and wait those 2-3 days or just put in my new order again right away because of the long delay between the day you order and the day the product ships?
-
You can do it today.
-
i visited the site and it said
No agents are currently available at this time to take your chat.
i thought it is already close -
Do you have to be a member of that corporate perks where we have to follow a link for the 15%? Or any guest or regular joe use it?
-
they close at 6pm est on weekends ( Contact Lenovo - United States) and they'll probably be closed tomorrow for easter
I just got off the chat with them 20 minutes ago so they worked a little overtime today -
Even the i3-2310m which is stronger than the core2duo and some first gen i5 or i3. The cpu requirement can play it, but the intel hd 3000 is the bottleneck but i heard it is the same performance as en entry level geforce 310m so native resolution at low settings is your best bet.

Register. It takes 30 seconds.

Just signed up for corporate perks. It's a free to join site that doesn't require anything. It seems like a glorified version of all of those daily deals sites that have been popping up lately. (The buy $40 worth of vouchers for $20 type of deals). So even if they required you to be a member of corporate perks, you could just sign up.

Some of you need to be more resourceful.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Can anyone tell me what the weight of the x220 is with the 4 cell, 6 cell and 9 cell?
I think I'm going for the 9 cell but I'm worried that it will add a lot of weight. -
A rep can give it you for $10 if you wait till tomorrow.
-
Even if your order was $825, another 5% is $40+. It took me less than 10minutes to cancel and reorder. If your time is worth over $240/hr leave it alone I guess.
My ship date is also 3 days ahead of the first order despite being identical.

9 Cell Battery - 1.13 lbs
X220 w/6 cell - 3.2 lbs
X220 w/9 cell - 3.6 lbs -
If you guys aren't buying the ThinkPad accidental protection warranty with this huge discount you are making a big mistake. You're getting a discount on the warranty price as well. It's not much more and if you drop it, break the screen, water damage, etc. you're covered.
I'm talking about the Accidental Protection, not the regular warranty that you can add on later. You CAN NOT add on accidental protection later (obviously).
Back story: I spilled beer on my $2000 x201 tablet the second day I had it. Luckily, I was able to completely disassemble it and save it (I'm an engineer so it helped). I didn't have the warranty and honestly I'm surprised the liquid didn't short out the motherboard and kill it. I would have been out a huge amount of money. So, now I buy the accidental protection. -
Accidental warranty is recommended for users with kids or pets or just plain careless. I mean drinkin water/beer/soda near a computer w/o closing the cap first = just common sense no offense
-
Yeah, I would agree with you. However all it takes is just one accident. Honestly, if the lid was closed it might have been worse because it might have run down the back into the battery slot.
Edit: Oh, and it helps your resale value as well. -
too late for me, but how much does it cost?
-
you guys must not have ordered from lenovo before.
All laptops are shipped overnight express from china. Get standard ground and watch your shipping process. Once, the laptop is available it'll be UPS international express. It has to clear customs then i'll be at your door in 1-2 days.
-
I've seen anywhere from 4-8 days with standard shipping. If you need it to get to you in 2-3 days without any doubt, that's the option to choose. Well worth the $10 for those of us who'r pretty strapped until the X220 gets delivered.
-
I saved my cart as a quote with the VIP coupon applied, should this quote remain valid for 30 days even if the coupon expires?
-
well, you just missed the point. once it clears customs, then it'll be overnighted to you. Your examples clearly show that is the case. I've ordered many many Thinkpads. It's always the same. Sometimes, clearing customs can take a few days. Usually, if it's over the weekend, then it'll take a couple of days. Otherwise it'll clear in 1 day. You're wasting your $10.
-
The only thing I care about is total transit time. 2 to 3 days vs. 4 to 8 days. I could care less if it gets overnighted to me after customs if it's somewhere in the UPS system for 4-6 days before that. If you get your machine in 4 days congrats. I'm not prepared to take the risk of it taking twice as long for $10 when I depend on it 12hrs+ a day.
-
Ok guys the corporate perk thingy is not working for me. Basically I just signed up for a corporate perk account, configure my order, and apply "LENOVOVIP"? The coupon ain't working. And can I use Amazon checkout? And so the discount is 5% off on the site, +additional 15%? How are you guys getting the total 20+% discount? Thanks!
-
But the expected shipping dates already vary so much as is, and counter intuitively moves sooner the later you purchase a laptop it seems- if you're willing to re-order to save $50, then that $10 spent already knocks out a huge chunk of that...
-
I need the machine asap. The opportunity cost of that $10 is the same regardless of whether I spent $250 more or if it shipped tomorrow.
-
Still works for me. Did you go to Lenovo through the corporateperks site?

Seems to work for me through the student account. I want to cancel my previous order though. Wonder if I should reorder with the coupon now or cancel first on Monday. I don't want to end up with two orders.
-
It takes a couple days for 'the warehouse' to cancel it. I ordered the second one today and was told to expect an email confirming the cancellation of the first one tue or wed.
-
I was under the impression that you could add it up to 90 days after. No? I may have to go reorder mine because I was hoping to buy this later
-
Ok, my bad. It works. So its a 10% off on the site, +additional 15% at checkout for a total of 23.5% discount? Not bad indeed!
-
What coupons do you enter for that?
-
Just ordered from Lenovo, custom. Pretty much the basic stuff, BUT no finger print reader and no webcam.
I got it for $1093, then added $101 of tax, and $6 for recycling fee, free shipping. So amount charged is $1201. Estimated ship date is May 17.
I logged in as Barnes and Noble account. Then I used the LENOVOVIP coupon code, thanks to the folks on this forum for the coupon code.
I almost bought the pre-config from Costcentral. But after tax, the difference became quite a bit.
I'll be swapping out the HDD with my own SSD.
My specs are below:
Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (2.5GHz, 3MB L3)
Display type 12.5" Multitouch HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna
4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
Hard drive 250 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
Bluetooth Bluetooth 3.0
Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN) -
are we able to cancel a CTO order and replace the order? I placed my order a few days ago and missed out on the discounts.
-
I've cancelled custom orders in the past, like 1 or 2 years ago. I would assume you can since they haven't shipped it yet. Probably haven't built it yet. I thought I read on this forum just this past couple days, you can cancel it before it's shipped.
-
I wonder how Portal 2 is going to run on the i7 integrated graphics.... hehe
-
I promise to let you know the day mine arrives.
It humms along OK on my T410s with discrete graphics after a small tweak to the settings.
One positive of the lower screen resolution of the X220 (as compared to the T410s and X301) is that games should run a little faster at native resolution.
I only pray there's no ghosting on the IPS display.
-darren -
So the Multi-Touch screen is the IPS screen? If so, is it multi-touch as well? Confusing naming there I think.
-
x220t are all IPS. Multitouch means no gorilla glass. Hope that helps
-
Swedish resellers sell the x220 (not x220t) with TFT LCD or TFT Multi-Touch. No where is it indicated it is an IPS screen. And the model numbers are different than the tabook (U.S models there only).

I went for the i7 also. I opted for the 4 year warranty as well the TPP. I figure in 4 years I'll be glad I got the i7, and since I'll probably give this to my daughter in a year or two I'll be glad I got the TPP
Side note, gave her my T61p with 3yr TPP and used it at least 3 times...well worth it in my book given the situation.
