Likely a short hold to make sure the bank said OK. I don't think they charge you til it ships.

If you choose one of the displays that has the 3x3 antenna, then you cannot add a webcam. Only the 2x2 antenna configurations (IPS or regular) allow for the camera to be equipped.

As for the site being down... that wasn't my experience this evening. I placed my order around 11:30pm EST, and all of the websites were working speedily for me, including the MasterCard website.

I followed the instructions in this post for my order: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/568231-thinkpad-x220-info-ordering-shipping-thread-160.html#post7486398

BTW: my total was $880 USD

Yeah it sounds like that's probably the case. Thanks for the reassurance! I really hope the scheduled date is correct.. as I have to go out of town on the 11th

Ugh, the tracking info shows the the x220 is still in Louisville going through yet another Import scan, I don't see how it can be delivered to me by EOD Friday (5/13). This whole customs thing is a huge pain.

Depending on where you live you may still get it tomorrow. For instance, UPS has a flight to Chicago at around 3:30am, and I'm sure there are ones to other hubs, such as NYC, LA, Texas, etc.

Thank you for that tip. Really a question as I have the 3 antennas in my W520 and it really helps with bad wifi signals.

But having skype capability is pretty cool.

Tonite has been a horrible experience with shop.lenovo.com. The site came back up but once you get to the cart it still won't let you check out.

I have been at this for 3 hours. I think an X220 in addition to my wonderful W520 is simply not in the cards for me. That is true both from the Mastercard site and the straight site which also has a nice sale on til Monday. (well a nice sale if the checkout part worked.)

Edit: The 4th hour worked. The site came back up and took the order. My only change was to order the Intel 160 GB SSD. With the 12% off employee pricing it was only $320 and at $2/GB that is cheaper than you can buy them anywhere now.

Hi guys, may I ask a question regarding buying X220i? Does anyone know what is the box dimension of x220i? I want to ship it to Finland using Shipito so I want to calculate the shipping cost.

    Thanks!

Finally bit the bullet, thanks to the Mastercard deal + deciding to forgo 3yr warranty...for now.
    $880 ($822 before taxes) for:
i5-2510, 250GB HDD, 4GB RAM, PremiumHD/IPS Screen, 720p Camera, Intel 6205 WiFi, Bluetooth, 9-cell battery, No Fingerprint Reader.
It's amazing just how much these upgrades cost. The cheapest x220i can be had for $200 less using the Mastercard deal, at $679 ($635 before taxes)...now that's a steal! It feels terribly indulgent to have spent $200 on non-essentials...OK, $135, the screen and the 9-cell battery were near the top of the selling points for this machine.

Can anyone confirm if they have received an x220 tablet from Lenovo or any other distributor?

Woo hoo! UPS just called and is holding my package for pickup...just hours away from finally getting it now!

Apparently the address on the package only had my name and city...UPS called to get a street address for delivery and I said HOLD IT, I'LL PICK IT UP!

Good luck to everyone else whose X220 was held captive in Louisville for several days.

yeah, I hear ya. It'd be a sad sad disappointment to hear that I got the wrong information emailed to me, if the date really did get pushed back yet AGAIN.

On the TabletPCReview forums, people HAVE received their X220 tablets though! I believe directly from Lenovo. So they are out there somewhere...hopefully Cost Central will pull through soon. I'm not quite ready to say I regret ordering from CC because their price was unbeatable, but if it doesn't come within another week or two, I will be annoyed...

It depends on where you ordered it, where you want it to ship. Some states have taxes, some doesn't. And then some sites offer free shipping, others doesn't. If you wanted to ship it internationally, it may void your warranty, and you have to pay for the shipping fee, and finally the import tax of the country you want to receive it as well. From my assumption, you are from Vietnam aren't you ?

True, though the recycling fee would just be 6$ or so. The problem is, if he flies back to VietNam and bring it with him, then that would be the final price. But if he just ships it via Fedex or DHL you may need to pay Vietnam's goods import tax, which is around 10% i believe.
Well, I am a Vietnamese too. Looking to order one in the US as well, but right now I'm in the UK.

I got mine today. This laptop has, by far, the best portable keyboard I have ever used. I actually prefer it to my Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000. I may have to buy the standalone Thinkpad keyboard for my desktop now.

I used to have an X200s, which had a good keyboard, but this one is significantly better.

Well, that’s super fast shipping for your order.

About the delivery customs/warehouse clearance problems, I
guess it’s only some orders that are having this problem. My canceled
order, which was actually shipped on 05/11, it’s getting to me on Monday
and this is what I got from UPS…It’s a little crazy too, it appears
that it came to USA then back to China, also appear it went to Anchorage then
to Louisville, then back to Anchorage and again to Louisville. Who knows, maybe
the dates are messed up because of the time difference between China and USA.

My cancelled order came in today. Called Lenovo (spent at least 30 minutes on hold), got my shipping labels and RMA number. Now to drop it off at UPS on the way home since the shipping office closed at work already.

Kind of a shame I can't even open it to look (or I get hit with the restocking fee).

I don't understand why an order I placed on 5/1, cancelled on 5/4 - shipped on 5/9. While an order I placed on 5/4 to replace the cancelled one still hasn't moved, and they're still giving me an expected delivery sometime the week of the 25th. Heck, all I changed was the processor from the lesser i5 to the 2520...

Well, I just checked now on the IBM order status and it shows as shipped and tracking number provided (no info on the ups page yet). I also ordered the sleeve, but that hasn't been shipped yet, but who cares about that. Finally, I guess i'll be getting the laptop next week. Great.

I suggest you check the IBM status page now. good luck.

UPDATE: Now, I also received the shipment notification email from Lenovo.

Well just placed an order for the X220 tonight! Should be a good college laptop.

    X220
    I-5 2.5GHZ
    4GB RAM
    IPS Display (2x2)
    320GB 7200RPM
    WIN 7 PROF
    No Fingerprint reader
    720p Camera
    9-cell battery
    Intel-6205
    2010 Office Student edition

Also got the 2yr-onsite+thinkpad protection warranty

All together shipped for $1200 with IBM employee discount and coupon. Would have been much cheaper without the warranty or microsoft word, but I figured for $130 the warranty was a pretty good deal and I need word for this summer (So can't wait and get it for free from school)

I'm surprised at how fast mine went from order to ship (3 days?!).

    Ordered 5/9/11: I7, 4GB, Win7Pro, IPS screen 2x2, Fingerprint Reader, 720p Cam, BT, 320GB 7200, 6cell, Intel 6205. $1109+tax

Plus a couple accessories that shipped separately like the sleeve, which just arrived today. The sleeve appears to be noticeably oversized at around 11.5" x 13.5", I was expecting a tighter fit.

Notebook shipped 5/12/11, UPS, due here in Los Angeles on 5/17/11.
