Yes, I ordered my X220 on the 4/19 originally had an est. ship date of 5/12. still have not recieved order or shipping notice. Called order status and a supervisor said my new est ship date was 6/6/2011 because of a constraint on HD premium LCD display. Online staus till gives no Est ship date.
-
Oh by the way my estimated ship date is June 7th.
Fingers crossed for it coming sooner than that. -
got a shipping update from Cost Central (tracking button online has information)! Estimated shipping date of May 20th, it's in Bloomingdale CA right now.
For anyone keeping track, I'm jeepy on the TabletPCReview forums (I don't know why I have two different names under the same email address!)
I'm sure everyone who ordered around the same time will be getting their shipping updates soon! -
Thanks Jeepy, I just checked and there is no update for me on CC. I will wait a few days.

Do people recommend the fingerprint reader? Is it just a gimmick, or does it work well? (Would it make things safer/more secure?)

Ordered on 05/16, est ship date is 06/08

Well, now there is a 30% coupon (saw it at the B&N site) for the i7 processor with usb 3.0 and 9 cell battery included. Now I dont know if I want to return my previous order (this will be the 2nd order cancelled if i do) since its almost same price for i7 2620m/usb 3.0/9 cell instead of i5 2520m/no usb 3.0/6 cell. Actually, with the new coupon, the new config comes like $7 cheaper. Now need to make the decision.
Price after coupon $882.98 + tax
i7 2620m, usb 3.0

DOORBUSTER0516. Valid through 05/18/2011. 30%!!
-
Yeah, its there. Click in special offers. Code "DOORBUSTER0516". I have not ordered yet, still thinking about cancelling my order and ordering this new system with the i7. You got to click on the doorbuster deal to customize, the i7 will be the only option for the processor.
On this deal, the ram is 4gb (1 dimm) , before it was 4gb (2 dimm). Is 1 better than 2? Any input on this. -
Perry -
And for people who are waiting...it's pretty much worth it to use the 30% off for that setup. The 9-cell is extremely worth it for the extra battery that it gives. The fact that it protrudes out a little makes little to no difference in comfort in my experience so far. -
I know this is pretty stupid question for you guys, but since i'm not US citizen, can you tell me what is billing address? I'm going to pay using non-US VISA card, I know what shipping address is, but how about billing address? will the bill be sent to this address? thanks

Maybe because I am not a member but I don't want to pay $25 for an unconfirmed offer.
Edit: the coupon is for 30% but it is on the Lenovo.com site. It does start with the I7 processor/USB 3.0 machine. However the deal I got through Mastercard Marketplace is still better (EPP price less 12%). -

Intel wireless N 6205

Still a pretty sweet deal for an i7 with IPS and 9cell
Well, I give up.. can't find the deal mellospace is talking about.. I cannot find 'special offers' anywhere on the site ( http://www.barnesandnoble.com) both logged in or out.. The models they do offer won't accept any coupon or allow 'customization'
Guess you people get different options on account of a US ip or something.. -
Got everything for the doorbusters plus 1 year on-site for $923.
i7

4GB (1 dimm)
Windows 7 home prem
320gb hdd

No prob, I searched on google specifically for Thinkpad X220 Barnes an Noble...then the first result linked me to the B&N Lenovo site, where I could use the special offers and get the best pricing.
I suppose I can wait for a better machine, I mean I saved $25 by getting a better processor, and a better warranty. I couldn't pass this up. Got a DOA on my old order...life is good. -
Here is the new link, try it click here
Update: updated link, try now -
I did find the links and could not improve on my deal from last week, but you can get the doorbuster0516 30% code applied to slightly better prices than you find on the direct shop.lenovo.com site. So going through B&N will be helpful to you.
I just got a really good deal last week with the Mastercard EPP less 12%. This is pretty equivalent to that.
The link Mellospace highlights will get you there. A sidebar. Your existing Lenovo acct will not work. You need to create another acct and than can get the 30% off of slightly less than retail prices. So it is a 30%+ deal. An example: the Professional Win 7 upgrade is $50 retail and is $42.50 on this site and you get 30% off from doorbuster0516. 30% off the lower number is a sweet deal.

Should I worry about the ' Welcome Students, Faculty and Staff' part? (Even though I am a student from Europe)
Must say, this doesn't seem to make any sense: Estimated total: $926.40, Total savings: $1,051.59 -
I am very close to ordering an X220 with i7 and a 7200rpm 320GB HDD (the doorbuster offer). I am however afraid if it has any heating issues (as it generates more heat that the i5). Can anyone share his/her experience?
-
I also try that 12% mastercard and believe this definitely better, previously with an i5 2520m and 6 cell battery, my config with that 12% came to $870. My original price was $890 so didnt bother cancelling to get $20 off. Now with an i7 and usb 3.0, 9 cell batery plus everything else the same for $883. That seems like great upgrades for almost nothing. Actually, Im saving $7 compare to my previous order, and if i had used the 12% it would've been only $13 extra for i7 processor and 9 cell battery. Not bad. -
Either way, it's nice to see that we're getting some nice savings here before Ivy Bridge. -
So I know that USB 3.0 is only available on the i7 non-tablet model. Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade to USB 3.0 down the line, at some point? Too much trouble?

OK, I see how this deal is better. How do I cancel a deal I entered online through sales.lenovo.com/Mastercard Marketplace last week?
BTW DOORBUSTER0516 is case sensitive.
Thank you in advance for that info. -
Here is a story for you guys...
My first cancelled order (that i was supposed to mail back to lenovo) was going to be deliver to me today. I checked the ups status online and says delivered @ 2:16pm. I checked around 2:45pm. Called home, they have not received any package and the package was "actually signed" by my last name according to UPS. Called UPS right away to see if they can get in contact with the driver. Was told that they cant do nothing and that I should call the company that send me the package so they can request a tracer. I mean 1/2 hr after it was supposedly delivered and they cant do nothing....thats crazy. Later asked my wife to ask my neighbors and nothing. Later called Lenovo and explained what happened, will get refund within 5 days.
Either my laptop was stolen by UPS guy or by someone in my building...what a world. -
Bummer! I recall that my W520 had to have a signature. They let my wife sign as I wasn't home.
Can't believe someone forged the signature and copped the laptop.
What am I saying. Of course I believe it. That is the world we live in.
Thanks for the info on the cancel method. I will call.
I did follow the B&N directions and I, too, can add the I7/USB 3.0 at essentially no cost over my really good price from last week.
Net savings with this deal after all is said and done is $33 on a $1471 price. (I had a number of accessories and the Intel 160 GB HD). The only real change was moving from the base I5 to the I7 and the USB 3.0. Both very desirable additions.
Also for those planning on adding an SSD, this deal (as last weeks was) makes the Intel 160 GB SSD (likely the X25) a smokin deal and cheaper than buying your own and changing it out.
Also if you want a real sales person assigned to you, go through the steps and get to your final cart. Rather than check out, save the cart and call the sales desk. (I called Tammy at direct (919) 804-6289.) She can process the saved order for you. You get the best price and have a Lenovo reps direct number if/when something goes awry.

The very fact that there's a sig on file with "Opps" and its NOT yours or wife's is your only saving grace when it comes to disputes like this. BE GLAD they require the sig. and man I"m really sry some dirt bag snagged your laptop. UPS guy more than likely.
ym -
How are you all canceling your orders? I went through three different reps and they all told me they could not cancel an order once it was "in process" which seems to be immediate. The third rep said they would put a request in but didn't promise anything. Not surprisingly it didn't work. This was all just a little over 24 hours since placing the order.

People on Slickdeals are complaining about bendy keyboards, fan problems, ghosting, and light leaks. I've been looking through these forums here for a while and haven't seen anything about those. Can someone point me towards those?

Returned my first x220 because of hardware defects. Still really like the laptop (screen, keyboard, and overall build quality is excellent). Luckily, I got the email about the doorbusters sale. So my new x220 is now:
i7 2.7 Ghz
Premium IPS screen
Windows Home Premium
4 GB ram
320 GB, 7200rpm
Fingerprint
Bluetooth
9 cell
Intel Advanced-N 6205
At an unbelievable $991 (with $56 in taxes included). Lenovo must seriously exaggerate their retail prices. -
I finally picked up my x220 but had to make so many calls and experience a few issues over the past two weeks...
First my order was placed and they held my money for several days while they attempted to verify my address on my card (they submitted the wrong address to my bank, my order listed it correctly). I finally got that corrected after a few calls and waiting on hold for a bit.
My order shipped and was suppose to be delivered today but UPS threw an exception that the street address was missing and that I contact the shipper to correct it (the address again Lenovo?). I contacted Lenovo and wasted several minutes of my time before being told to call UPS to correct it myself. I finally have my laptop tonight (after pickup from UPS).
I will give them credit that I received my order in two weeks from the time I ordered (and the x220 is a great piece of hardware). The tech support people I spoke to were extremely difficult to understand and had a hard time understanding me on some calls. I do have the same issue when calling in for support/parts at work. Thankfully UPS was understanding and held it for me. Overall I am just really unhappy with their support and order process. -
The 30% off Doorbuster offer on the x220 has ended!
EDIT: Apparently not. Maybe. If you click on the 30% Doorbuster ad on the Lenovo website it takes you to the page with them but shows "Sorry, E-Coupon Limit Reached" for the x220 where the "Customize & buy" button would normally be. However, if you go the the regular page for buying the x220 it's still being offered. -
Yup. Hate to see it go, but thanks to this forum as many of us modified our deals.
Basically I picked up the exact same system for the same price (well $37 less) but the system now has the I7 w USB 3 rather than the least speedy I5 with USB 2.0.
And somehow my estimated ship date improved by 7 days even though my old deal was ordered 4 days ago.
Thank you to the group from me
Perry.
