When is your T400 expected to ship?

Today I have received another confirmation of my order....which is kinda weird. This is the 3rd confirmation I have received. I got excited and thought maybe it had shipped but no, same thing on the website. It is the same e-mail I received soon after I had ordered

 

I just got my third email confirmation too. No change in status or progress on my order yet.

 

I just called...apparently they are still waiting for my card to be processed, though there is a hold on my account currently for the $$ from lenovo. The guy said its taking so long because of the high demand. However he was reading off of a card pretty much. Guess I just have to wait and be patient (not my strong suit...).

 

I just got my 3rd confirmation email today too. I got one the 13th, the 15th, and 16th (today).

I ordered a T400 on 9/12/08. Today, 9/16, I received an email that it is shipping. There was no tracking number, as of yet. Only four days elapsed from placing my order to receiving a shipping notice. Looks like it'll be received well before Lenovo's estimated 9/26 shipping date. I'm excited!

 

2 Questions

When does your credit card get charged? There was previously a hold on my card, then my laptop shipped last Sunday and I've had it for a few days now. I called Visa and there's no longer a hold from Lenovo and no pending charges? Did I just get a free laptop?

Secondly, where do you guys get the part numbers and descriptions. I use the Parts Lookup link through the Sticky post and only get what seems like half the info. No part number for a screen or to tell if I got everything I paid for, like 5300. Is there another way?

9/17 update. T400 ordered on Friday evening 9/12. Received shipping notice on Tuesday 9/16. UPS Ground. Checked UPS tracking on 9/17. It says delivery will be on Thursday 9/18. If it's delivered on schedule it'll have taken only 6 days from placing my order till delivery.

I checked the serial number and found I'll be getting a screen with part number 42T0497 which is the LG. Am I correct?

 

I finally took the plunge. I ordered on 16th, and the estimated shipping date is the 30th. I'm so excited.

I am VERY impressed with the speed of delivery:

Ordered: Thursday PM, Ships Monday, and delivery on Wednesday.

I don't think I've ever ordered a custom build laptop and got it in 3.5 business days/5.5 calendar days.

I ordered a custom build HP last year (dv2500 series) and it took 12 days from order to delivery.

Looking through my files, the prices of the laptop are interested to compare.

What does "ADDITIONAL CLEARING AGENCY INFORMATION OR DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR CLEARANCE" mean? Does it mean the notebook delivery must be cleared by customs, or something similar? Is this normal?

I'm hoping it's not much of a holdup.

BTW, on Tuesday 9/16 UPS tracking showed an expected delivery date of 9/18. Soon after that the expected delivery date information disappeared.

 

***!!! Everyone who has ordered a T400 should call Lenovo and ask about the status of their order. I just called for the second time this week and inquired where my order was in the process and was informed that their credit card processing is a WEEK BEHIND. Because of my phone call, the rep removed the credit card hold so my order could be processed. I have plenty of credit on this card (high limit) so the hold had nothing to do with me. Pretty disconcerting that they wasted a full week on this. Tempted to cancel, they seem incompetant. You definitely can't request a specific panel either so if I get a Samsung I'm going to CRY!

 

I just noticed something on my tracking information. My T400 shipped from Shenzen China whereas it seems everyone else's is shipped from Hong Kong. Don't know if I should be concerned about quality or not (probably being too analytical).

I also finally got my serial number but part information still isn't online.

 

Susie thanks for the info, I am about to call seeing as I just got my 4th "confirmation of order" email in almost a week....hopefully I get someone who I can understand, last time it was almost impossible.

 

Mine shipped today. Still don't know any shipping info or serial number. I chose the free shipping option which usually should take from 5-7 days, anybody knows how long it could take before I get my laptop.

 

I ordered mine on 9/10/08 the estimated ship date was 9/25/08 but I just got an email saying it was sent out today 9/18/08

T400 ordered Friday 9/12/08. Delivered one week later on Friday 9/19/08. I'm pleased. Keyboard and LCD seem fine compared to my prior T42.

Was held for "clearance" at UPS in Ontario, CA from Wed. evening till early Friday morning on 9/19.

Call Lenovo. If an error was made when processing your CC (like your bank refusing for security reason) they won't tell and won't try to clear the situation.

 

Anyone else that used the basic UPS Shipping option get an estimated date of arrival from UPS? My tracking doesn't and seems to be taking a long time to get anywhere from Anchorage Alaska...hope they didn't truck it out of alaska lol.

i just got my 4th email and said ok i need to find out whats going on after hearing the stories here. Of course i call and he says there's a problem with my CC.

what happened is i wanted to have the notebook shipped to my office where there is always someone to take delivery of it (as opposed to at my house) So i changed the billing address on my CC by calling the bank before i ordered. (but the other three orders i placed that day to ship to my office went through just fine: newegg, tigerdirect, and some online tire store)

the guy i just talked to on the phone said he'd submit another request to try the billing again and i should hear something by monday.

This is ridiculous. I should have been notified the second my charge didnt clear, its not like i dont have the money in my account. Now i have to wait additional time to get my **** notebook, and having paid them $1870 i feel kind of slighted. If my ship date is postponed because of this i will be very angry, with seemingly no recourse, which makes it even worse.

Same exact problem with me, I changed my billing address on my bank card 2 days ago, called today and estimated delivery moved from 9/26 to 10/9. I made a thread about it and some ppl seem to think that its normal for that long, but I think its ridiculous to wait a month. Mine isn't very customized either, p9600, 3gb ram, LED backlight,100gb 7200 rpm hd, 6 cell, just regular cdrw. So nothing crazy, no blu ray or 9 cell or even dvd burner. I am hoping that they will ship it earlier, but the customer service rep said the delay is because of the batteries. I assumed that to mean 9 cell so hopefully mine will be good.

 

yeah i got a 4 cell and an ultrabay battery, but i did get the DVD burner and integrated bluetooth. Mine is pretty much all custom, but regardless.

i dont see why i wasnt notified immediately when there was a problem with billing.

i dont see why there WAS a problem with billing. Everything was changed the second i hung up with bank of america, evidenced by my other charges to the same address and shipping address went through immediately. I saw the charge come up on the web banking very soon and it even cleared.

i just looked, and there's no record of it in my checking account activity. This is very peculiar and i dont like it.

 

They charged my card when I originally made the order, then the charge disappeared. I am sure it will reappear when it ships, this is fairly common practice. However most companies that do this do not have a turnaround time of a month. I would rather them charge my card and leave the hold there until it ships, not take it off.

 

Well i ordered my T400 on the 12th, and then i called on the 15th to cancel the order and i instead ordered the W500.... I wanted more GPU power but wasnt really sure so i decided to go for the big guy.

Anyways thismorning the 21st i got an confirmation that my T400 had shipped!!!

I wasn't really sure in the first place which i wanted so I took it as kind of a message to me "Hey you want this T400" haha... anyways that being said i canceled the W500 that hadn't been shipped out yet. I will end up with the orginal T400 that i wanted... Specs below. As you see i ordered the 9-cell and it shipped in about 1 week, so i don't think that is the cause of other people's delay.

I ordered one on 9/18 (day after you) and have an estimated ship date of 10/2 and ordered as an individual.

We will see if mine ships tomorrow or the next day..then we will know.

Mine was just over 1500 before taxes and shipping. Just the 1 Year on-site warranty at this time.

 

Mine shipped this morning so looks like a first come first served based on parts as I ordered as an individual and it shipped in the same time frame as someone who submitted as a business

I ordered on 9/11, my ship date was apparently 9/25, I called to check up on them today, and they said my credit card wasn't verified until last friday the 19th. why it takes them more than a week to verify a credit card i have no idea. the lady online was telling me that i can expect it to ship 10/12 now, more then a month from when i originally ordered it, and i probably wont get it till till at least the 20th of next month. Needless to say i'm pretty pissed off and close to just canceling my order.

 

It took them 1 and 1/2 weeks to verify my credit card also.

Mostlikely it will ship in a day or 2, their estimates are way off.

 

yea it appears stock is doing alot better as we are seeing fewer complaints of orders shipping after the estimated ship date, but well before it!
